OK, I found a way with the help of somebody else for the automatic addition checked off... Thanks anyway.

One more bug to report:

When you modify the category of a video in the gallery, the video does not show on the forum thread anymore if you go there and edit the category as well since it's not done automatically. Maybe it was already mentionned before but this thread is so long to read.

Upload the files to the directories of your server, import the xml file and then import the differrent video format .xml files relevant to the ones you want to use for your website, easy.

I'm having a problem with thumbnail creation. The videothumbails directory is set to 777, but all new thumbnail files that get created are set to 600. I can go in and manually change their file setting to 777 and it fixes it, but that obviously doesn't fix the issue. Where is it determined that the file upload will be set to 600?

I'm having the problem where I can't post comments on videos (as an Admin) - getting the "Invalid Video" error. I've checked usergroup permissions and Admins are set to be able to post comments. What else do I check? I searched this thread and couldn't find a fix.

Sorry Guys this thread is way too long and i can't find any fix to my issue.
I've just installed this mod and i'm testing it.
When i post a new HD Video from YouTube and i play it, the video player size is small as default and not big as the HD Video should be.

Hi, Thank! Is exactly what i'm doing but,adding &=fmt18 or 22 at the end of the link, the video size doesn't change.

The mod has an RSS feed, so you can use the feed to display it on another page. I used http://www.feedsweep.com and display it on the forum homepage of my site in the side column. That way, it's a simple widget that you can style and display as you wish. :up:

I seem to be having some issues after upgrading from Survivor?s version (1.1.0 RC2) to this one (1.3.0). Since my site is live I had to revert back to Survivor?s version again until I can fix these bugs.

Guys, I don't blame Jaxel for not repeating himself to answer the same questions over and over. Please research the answers before simply asking.

There is a "search this thread" option towards the top right of this thread, simply click that and put in a search term such as "vBSEO" or "install" and read the responses.

Jaxel has been very supportive of this mod from the inception, but it's just silly to think that he'd have to answer the same questions repeatedly.

Whenever I add a mod to my site from vB.org, I research it as much as possible. Odds are that another admin has already asked and received a response to that question.

Great module, working fine, except that when I try to make a comment at my language (greek) I get jubberish instead of greek characters!! Is there an encoding set in some of the files I can change?

Also, I cannot delete any comments! It show up "you want to delete this comment", I say yes and nothing happens.

Awesome Mod, great for my Trailers of Upcoming Movies and My Megavideo Collection of Movies. Can you do us all a favor though and add all video hoster files people submit to the main info on this so those of us that do not have time to go through 90 + pages can easily get the video hosters that have been made for this? I am personally looking for google, stagevu, movshare and videoweed. For those are highly used hosting sites now.

That post I already know what you linked. And I think asking for support for MODDB and GAMETRAILERS wasn't already discussed and has never been answered by the Developer of this Mod.

Nope, I already looked into that. The XMLs are two completely different animals. It would probably require an entire rewrite of the modification to make them compatible.

So whats up with the option to add a new thread when you upload a video. Does that work. I put in the settings the name of the forum to start a new thread, and i uploaded some new videos, but it doesn't show a thread anywhere.

Thanks, but i really don't see any box anywhere on the add video screen. I don't think its there for me. I made a test account if you want to check, username is: vborg and password is: 123456 when you hit add video i don't see no box for the create a new thread... Was there a file edit to add that or anything.. When i upgraded all i did was upload the new files and import the product files.

So, you must not have the most recent version of the mod installed. The most recent has the add video on the main page as well as the checkmark box. You may have to revert some templates or something. Maybe some others in this thread can help you with additional options on how to fix it. Good luck! :up:

So, you must not have the most recent version of the mod installed. The most recent has the add video on the main page as well as the checkmark box. You may have to revert some templates or something. Maybe some others in this thread can help you with additional options on how to fix it. Good luck! :up:

I have a suggestion I know I'd like to see.

On the main video index, a section for a featured video.. Like on Youtube profiles for example, you can choose 1 video to show on your channel.

Addition to that, maybe have category featured videos.. that'll show up on the category index?

there is a huge bug in this. You cannot delete comments. When I try to delete it just refreshes the page to the forum homepage. I stupidly allow guests to comment and I've been spammed and I can't delete them. Its embarrassing for a professional site to have this. There isn't even an option to remove comments altogether.

I haven't had any trouble deleting comments. Did you try ticking the other option to see if maybe they were inverted?

To add a new video category,

ACP>Video Directory>Manage Categories>Add video Category

Well there lies the problem.. There was no "Video Directory" in ACP. lol :)
But it appears today, i guess it just needed to reset or something. (i installed it last night & it wasn't there)

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I had it running great for a few months with no problem, now *EVERY* time I try to add a new video I get this:

The response of the video-server can't be read.

I've tried adding different videos, maybe 15-20X over the last 3 days, and *every* time now I get that error as a response.

It is now impossible to add YouTube videos. :(

You're right, there was a conflict with vbglossary (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=188189), so here's what I've done:
- I had to disable the product and everything worked again without any database probems
- Then, I manually deleted all new tables and new fields in the existing tables
I still have the disabled product in my admincp though. How can I get rid of it?

In order to rename the navbar link, you have to edit the phrase "video_directory" .

To do that, simply go to admincp >> Languages & Phrases >> Search in Phrases .... then, enter video_directory in the "Search for Text" field. Then, click on the radio button choice Phrase Text and Phrase Variable Name and click "find".

Click the edit button next to the "Video Directory Phrases Containing 'video_directory'" phrase. Once you go to the next screen, simply type what you'd like as your text in the comment field/box ("English/US Translation") and click 'save'.

Because phrasing it makes it global, which makes it easier to make translations, which means you already have one place in the ACP where you can change it. Once you learn what that does, it's pretty simple to change any phrase globally on your forum, rather then editing every instance of it in the templates, which then need to be reverted after every upgrade and you'd have to make the change again. Not so with phrases.

The error suggests that an unregistered user, probably a crawl bot, is accessing features it shouldn't have access to. You can try editing the robots.txt file to try and block them from accessing the directory.

Looks to me like maybe invalid HTML somewhere, possible not even related to that section. Something is definitely not closed right on that page. If your not familiar with the Validator, check the link to the article in my signature and scroll down to the section where I take about validation. I'm afraid, this may take you a while to root out.

Go to your Admin CP >> vBulletin Options >> vBulletin Options >> General Settings >> Add Template Name in HTML Comments. Tick this to Yes. vB will now put comments in the Source Code where each of your templates begin and end.

Rerun the Validator with the Show Source option selected. This will create links in the error messages that jump down the page to where your Source Code is being displayed, right to the line it detected the error on. Remember that it only detects the error in this vicinity. It could be that something before that is incorrect. You'll need to look around and possibly do some Google searches to understand what each means. Start with the top one first, as errors tend to cascade. Fixing one can fix a bunch below, or reveal others that the Vaildator couldn't previously detect.

You're fortunate, you only have 9 errors. When I started learning about Validation, I had over 600. At the very least, you can say that page is vaild when your done.

No, this is not any kind of downloader. This just duplicates the sites' embed code in a forum directory.

Hello, I was wondering if with this mod you can add your own videos ? Let's say uploading them to your server for instance. I have a collection of videos I want to make available to my members. If not I would like to create and xml hoster script for my own video page @ http://aniworlds.net/videochannel . It almost sounds like your missing files. And are you sure you ran the last upgrade, because that fixed the thumbnails for me. Also, make sure you ran the troubleshooting tip. Also, too, and furthermore, your directory is blocked from guest viewing.

Ok we have tried to do this but we have some problems.

It's the cause of your error messages. The old vB3 template system isn't compatible with vB4.

I assume it would be in your vBSEO control panel, or where ever rewrites for custom pages is controlled. In other words, it's not something directly related to the modification.

Below are my rewrite rules. If I delete 1 or 2 of them the comments seem to work. But there are still a few problems. I cannot seem to delete the comments. Sometimes it lets me and other times it doesnt. It does seem to be a problem with the rewrite rules. Anyone know how to adjust these rules to be able to post comments and delete them?

By any chance does anyone know how to re-arrange the view video page? For example I want the description section with all the details of the video to appear on top of the video instead of on the bottom. I've looked in the video directory templates but can't seem to pinpoint what I have to change. Any ideas or feedback would be a tremendous help. Thanks alot.

I have made sure the /thumbs was there and everything was chmodded to 777 like it said above,

I also rebuilt the custom avatars bit still no luck, I only see anchor text / links where the thumbs would be,....

Any other ideas what I am doing wrong?

I love the look of the video page with the info to the right. Only problem with that one would be fixed styles. May be a little wide.

But, looks good so far! :D

Home Page design done... I made the entire display script modular, so putting in sections for highest rated and most popular videos is extremely easy to do. Because of the modular nature of the display script, the category, and user pages are also done. The tag pages will also be very easy to implement the same way. All these pages use the same exact templates, its only the code-behind thats different.

I'm having a hard time understand the whole datamanager system, so I don't know if I'll be using it. The whole datamanager system was implemented with the original author, and he never implemented the VF_METHOD stuff correctly, so it really didn't do anything.

On the agenda:
video submission
video moderation
video editing
comment system
tagging system
rating system
search system

I don't think I will be re-implementing the video reporting function... It really served no purpose. As well, I will not be re-implementing the auto-thread creation function either; with the new sidebar module system, there really isn't a need.

The auto-thread creation and video reporting functions were great. Especially the auto-thread function. If it's possible, please keep working at it! :D

The auto-thread creation helped spark some good conversations about the videos and got folks interacting on the site.

I like the layout of the homepage. Do you have options to go three wide versus two wide on the layout? This way there are more videos per row showing?

Will you be able to make the definitions compatible with the next Directory? At the very least, some similarity in the XML files might make a basic find & replace method workable. Thank you for taking the directory to next level.

The new layout is awesome, I will not mind if you remove the report system and auto thread system but please do not leave the sidebar area, navbar links under the tabs are not so noticeable, sidebar looks always awesome. A confusing thing is 1280 width, most of my users have 1024 width monitors, please take care of it.

This would be awesome to get as many hosters for Video Directory Remixed than for AME! I'm sure I'm not alone waiting to get this possibility. This is the only thing missing in this great hack, more video hosters. The're not easy to understand or create.

Hosters are being DATABASE driven, instead of XML file driven now. Below is the database construct and the YouTube example. Since its being database driven, if you wanted to merge it with AME, I don't see how it would be a problem. Just extract the service name, the regex code and link it directly to the embed code. Of course, you wouldn't have the url to feed, or the feed to variables...
