I agree, i'd like it so when a post is created in the video directory it also creates a new thread in the video directory forum.also comments made to the video are also added to the thread..

As is stands members don't know if a new video as been added without going into the video directory itself,which kind of takes them away from whats going on elsewhere..Plus i would say that maybe thats a solution to your problem dancue.

Maybe it can be set as an option to satisfy both. As long as the comments and new videos posted in the video directory count towards the person's post count.

Jaxel, is there a way to view a List of the Latest Comments Posted on the Videos to be able to Revew them and Moderate them? :confused:

(This is very Important, because revewing this Video by Video (One by One) is Eternal.)

I Hope there is an Option to do this on this Great Mod. (If not, then I Hope you can Provide it on your Next Update to be able to Moderate the Video Comments).

Thank you for that dancue. But, I know how to replace a current image. I just didn't see that being an actual button anywhere for "new video" and I wanted to see what was currently there. :D

Just a quick suggestion, I don't know if it's been suggested before, but I think it'd be a pretty good addition..

When someone clicks on a link to a video, it'll automatically scroll the page down to where the videobit is, so the user doesn't have to scroll down to watch the video (for those with larger header/navbar templates)

I managed to do it myself, but I think it'd be a great addition for everyone else too ^^

dallibose, when you uploaded these files into their directories, you needed to CHMOD (change the permissions) on those directory folders. So, within your FTP program, right click on the folder/directory and make sure that all of the checkmarks appear in the permissions. You should see it as "777" as the code once it's all checked off.

That should do it. Good luck! :up:

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

How to get this to work....????

How can I put the "Videos:" part in there ? I tried to do something by template changes without success. Can you please help me with this ? I also tried to put the "total videos:" into FORUMHOME template and it also did not work.

I was thinking of adding a segment to the upload script that alters an image to illuminated when I link is added, then use my standard cron to de-illuminate the image (just rotate with a 2nd image) when it's been more than 3 days since the last link. I have that image imbedded beside my Video Directory link.

Jaxel changed it so that all you have to do is change the "http" to "hdef" rather than having to remember the &fmt=22 or where to put it. Try that and see if it works. :D

I've just noticed that the tags added for a video, in a private section, appear for all users in the tag cloud. Is there a way to prevent that and keep those tags "private" ?

Edit: Same goes for private videos who are visible by all in the "Recently Added Videos" page.

I've noticed with Megavideo videos, if the exact link already exists, it'll display a message telling you so. I'm not sure about other video hosts though..

grrr... can't get img code to work in the ANNOUNCEMENTS section for some reason.

eg:

Im not willing to give our site a db error I dont have a clue to get rid of and ending up needing to revert to a db backup. What I do know is this-

Everything was working well for a week and now suddenly whenever i add videos, there is no thumbnail for it...IT has stopped generating thumbnails...any idea what's wrong????

Also I have notice two big problems.
1. You can't edit comments
2. When changing the title, the old "BB Code" which hold the old title is still working!!.

I was using NetNewsWire (for mac), but it's any newsreader.

The links in this editor are getting mangled here when I paste them, so I"m attaching a screen shot instead! The link shown in it has the url that includes the "s=" string in it.

Sounds like a mac issue.It's not a MAC issue. It's any RSS newsreader! It's just more convenient for me to give you the MAC example.

So here is another example, go to this web url - slinkset.com - it contains links taken from your RSS Video Directory feed...notice the link URL's - they do not take you to the exact video, but rather the Video Directory index - the "s=" string is causing them to be redirected to the index instead of the actual video.

Something is generating the "s=" string in the RSS piece of code, whether it's your code or within vBulletin itself. I can't find anything obvious, but I'm not a coder!

Hopefully you or someone can dig deeper....as it is effecting the usefulness of the RSS piece of this.

Hello, and first of all, congratulations on this awesome mod. :)

I just installed it on my boards, thing is, I use a main table width that's smaller than most of the other boards using vB. I'd like to know where to change the width of the text boxes and / or main tables so they fit my forum (check the screenshots below):

The session tags are generated by vBulletin itself. It's what lets people stay logged into the website, even if they have cookies disabled. I've never had any issues with my forum, and none of my RSS aggregators add the session tags in.

If you want to fix this with your forum, go into functions_videodirectory.php and replace:
$url = 'video.php?' . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . 'do=viewdetails&videoid=' . $video['videoid'];
with:
$url = 'video.php?do=viewdetails&videoid=' . $video['videoid'];
However, if you require people to be logged in, in order to watch videos, your users may have problems if they have cookies disabled.

Yeah, I know I kind of go against the grain, lol. :p But me and my users got accustomed to it, so I'd really like to keep it this way.

Can you please tell me what to look for in the templates? I have a little experience and don't mind editing the code myself, but I don't know exactly what to search for.

I just installed your great mod but I have a very big problem, when I want to enter to the videos page, appears this error:

Is there any way to add YouTube Playlists support to my gallery? It would be awesome to be able to play them since Google Video is not an option and it was the only website where long videos were allowed...

I enabled the option that automatically creat a thread/topic in a certain subforum that I choosed of my forum when someone upload a new video in the videor directory But is not working.

I have to do something else to enable this option ?? because I really want it.

Mario, I haven't started to use that option yet actually. Where do you find those options?

Usually you have to place the forum id of the forum that you'd like the new thread to appear in as well as the user id of the user you'd like it to display the thread from.

That option is in the General Settings of the Mod in the ACP

No, only you have to select the Forum that you want from a list.

No Forum ID and NO user ID, I think the user that appears that open the topic is the user that upload the video in the video directory.

Check it and tell me.

Maybe I'm wrong but the only option I have is : Report-Forum - Forum, in which a topic for every reported video is created.

Which means that a thread will be created if someone report a bad video but not when someone add a video.

And to sum up some problems I have with this hack:

1- On the 'recently added video' page all the videos appear even the ones that come from a private category.

I fixed this one by changing in video.php :

The option that is not working is the "Report Forum" option, I selected the forum but nothing happens in that forum when someone upload a video in the video directory. :(

How can I fix this ?

Where is the RSS Feed?

On page 23 of 56 pages it was asked where to find the RSS Feed to show the videos via RSS on a site outside of vb.

No answer to this yet and I can not find it neither. I have all codes enabled in ACP (URL, BB, HTML etc.)

Can ANYBODY help here?

So the RSS Feed is a predefined URL, not a RSS sign next to a video or section which I or a user can click on?

If I use this URL in a site outside of vb, will the videos be shown or only the text below the videos?

Weirdest thing. The Video menu in the ACP was not showing for me at all. This started yesterday with another set of mods I installed. On a off chance, I switched FireFox to IE view, logged in and there it was. Really strange, but maybe that will help someone. (Now to see where the other menu items went.)

I got a question, I have been using a mod called VBYes which integrated You Tube very nicely with our site, and was working Great until You Tube ONCE again changed the method of converting Videos and Now the Quality is less the I'd like.

So my question is.....

Can I use this Mod to Link to Video's that get save directly on our Web site, I sure hope so? It appears this is the only way I'm going to get the quality i need and I have unlimited disk space with my Web host.

This Looks exactly what I was looking for and really looks like it integrates well with vb.

Very Nice work folks I hope it will be the answer to saving me Hours (sometimes days) of wasted time messing with You Tube.

Thanks Jedi for your responce, Its not HD videos I'm looking to stream, it's HQ (High Quality), HD videos must be just that HD 1280x720 Mine are not that But are of HIGH quality resolutions and Minimal Re-encoding. 780x480 you can add ALL the &fmt=18, &fmt=35 to the embedding command but it dont do nothing Cause You Tube never rendered it as such. (this is a New change from them this week) Anyway I have also installed the AME and see it has a script that works locally. Anyway I'll post on your thread and Not hijack this one, as I do have a few more questions.

Also, how will this effect the HDEF videos? There won't be enough room on the sides when it's the large videos, right?

You would have to set if conditionals for both of those. Disabling for members and disabling for HDEF.

I can't get the "post new thread on adding a new video" stuff, that I'd like to add, to work.

I succeeded in inserting the datas the "old way". I mean with an
INSERT INTO " . TABLE_PREFIX . "post
query. But it doesn't update the thread correctly and so it is not considered as new and does not appear in the "new posts" search.

I've noticed they're is a new way for doing such things with : $threadman->set('pagetext', $videoinfo['description']);
But I did not managed to fully understand how it works, I'm always having an error stating something about an Array.

So if someone clever than me is willing to help...

Hey guys,

I just installed Video Directory for the first time. Everything seemed to go well. One of Jaxel's last comments is to rember to "set the rights to the usergroups' otherwise it won't work. I assume he means to just set the correct permissions for various usergroups, right? Well, the only one I really care about is Registered Users, and all of the settings seemed to be appropriate for Registered Users. I am attaching a screen-shot of the permissions.

What stupid thing am I overlooking? I can't get to the Video Directory. It says I don't have sufficient privilleges. I know I'm doing something stupid. What is it? :(

Fragg (or anyone else),

I'm still having trouble. In the General Settings, there are lots of different settings (obviously) but I don't see any master getting for on/off or for usergroup permissions. When I go into the actual main admin section for Usergroup Permissions, they seem to be set appropriately. It says that registered users can veiw videos, etc. But I still just hit that wall/error message that say "Farfegnubbin: you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to...etc."

Does anybody know what Jaxel meant by "making sure the rights are set to the usergroups"?

Still an unsuccessful install, for now.

I just solved it, and, as I thought, it was something incredibly stupid. Jaxel implied to check the "rights" of the usergroup, so I went to Usergroup--Forum Permissions. That's not what he was talking about. In the Usergroups--Usergroup Manager, you can pick a certain usergroup and then scroll WAY down to the bottom, at which point there are radio buttons to allow various stuff. You have to then repeat that for any/all user groups.

I installed Video Directory today on a 3.7.6 site. The Installation went very well, and I love the mod. I'll spread the word. This is an excellent product.

Quick question: how can you change the size of the thumbnails for the videos? I thought there would be a setting in one of the Video Directory cpanels itself, but I don't see it. How can I make the thumbs a little bigger? Edit templates? Change settings? Anybody know?

Installed on 3.8.2 and all seems to be working well except for a few small things:

1. AJAX for posting comments doesn't work. Any ideas?

2. The tags don't get saved about 30% of the time. The other 70% tags get saved fine.

3. Veoh vides kept giving me an error of "This video cannot be embeded". I disabled the Veoh option for now but I would love to get it working since there's a few vids on Veoh I want to add that I can't find on other sites.

PROBLEMS! vb3.7x

1. There are no admin links except under vBulletin Options
2. I had to reimport the product and the 8 included video hosts are no where to be found nor can i reimport them.
3. Some language aint in english!

Does this work on vb3.7x. Shouldn't an uninstall and reinstall allow you to begin again fresh?

Turns out deleting the cache aint enough but I had to delete cookies as well for the admin panel to show correctly.

I have solved all my problems and this works perfectly now!

Please update your package with the English button which is lost in the posts! You should not leave important files such as button designs lost deep into posts. Also, you should provide a link in your description to the vBa mod which pulls videos onto the CMPS homepage easily. Please look at how the arcade system on vborg write their descriptions. They cross link and it greatly improves all of vborg as a whole!

IMPORT YOUR OWN LOCAL HOSTED VIDEOS
I will be working on a mod for this mod that will allow me to import my own hosted videos. Meaning first you will have to FTP upload a .flv or .swf file to your server. Then you can import from that folder into the categories. I need that ASAP so I am going to code it myself and with the team of developers I work with. STAY TUNED!

That's great yotsume but can you also add the ability to:

- create a thread in the forum when a new video is added (really important to get traffic to this section)
- embed code for non-supported services (that way it instantly supports ALL video services!)
- playlists/favourites

Aaa one step at a time! What I will be doing first is making a new importable hoster file that you will upload to your includes/xml folder. This new hoster file will allow you to import swf or flv files. You will have to create your own thumbnail file as well. The title and description fields as well as tags will have to be all entered manually.

I will have this hoster file ready in a couple of weeks.

This hoster file will need to be edited before it is uploaded. You will need to input your server info to where you have created a video folder where all your ftp uploads must be stored.

Next step I agree an embed code hoster would be great. But like I said first I have to code what I need the most and that is self hosted videos. :D

I am surprised, given how cool a mod this is and how long it's been around, that a couple of basic issues haven't been addressed.

First of all, no matter what I do (and I'm not alone - there must be at least 5 other references to this issue in this thread), I cannot get member avatars to show with comments. Don't tell me again to create a folder, etc...none of that has worked. I'm on 3.8 btw... There's clearly something wrong in terms of having the standard member avatars show with comments. If anyone has clear directions on how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated! Seeing that stupid '?' in place of a great avatar just doesn't cut it :)

Secondly, maybe I'm just ignorant, but I cannot figure out how to add a hoster. Even where, as with Veoh, an xml file is provided, there are no instructions anywhere I can see as to what to do with it and how to 'add' a video site.

Finally, why can we not add an image or banner to the custom text atop the Video Directory - other bb codes work but the image tags will not. That's just strange?

This is a great mod - I'm not unappreciative - but it could be so much better if the the mod-creator (or someone else that's knowledgeable) would jump in and provide some help. There are way too many questions in this thread that have been asked over and over with no good solutions. Come on people - this mod could be money with a little help!

I just noticed that when loading in an HD video clip from YouTube, the HD version of a video is not playing automatically, you still have to click on the HD icon in the YouTube player, to get it running in HD mode. It was working at some point in the past, so perhaps YouTube have made some changes recently?

Anyone know what I need to adjust in the hoster file or elsewhere to have YouTube HD videos play in HD mode from the start (without having to click on HD)?

My avatars show in my comments. At first they did not. I know you don't want to hear the make a folder instructions but that really does fix the problem. I had to rebuild my avatar cache as well. The permissions of the folder are important as well. Maybe it matters if your avatar images are being stored in your database or file system? Maybe it matters what theme or skin you are using? Wish I could help you out better here. I had a ruff time installing but worked it all out.

Secondly, maybe I'm just ignorant, but I cannot figure out how to add a hoster. Even where, as with Veoh, an xml file is provided, there are no instructions anywhere I can see as to what to do with it and how to 'add' a video site.This I am sure I can help you with. I agree the instructions for adding back in the hosters is very poor.

I will assume your video admin panel is showing up correctly inside your vb AdminCP. If you see "Video Directory" listed then it should be.

Adding Hosters Instructions
1. Go to AdminCP > Video Directory > Manage Hoster
2. In the field labeled "import the XML file from your server" you will need to type in the following hoster xml info one by one to add them in.

./includes/xml/videohoster-Dailymotion.xml
./includes/xml/videohoster-MegaVideo.xml
./includes/xml/videohoster-Metacafe.xml
./includes/xml/videohoster-Veoh.xml
./includes/xml/videohoster-Vimeo.xml
./includes/xml/videohoster-VimeoHD.xml
./includes/xml/videohoster-YouTube.xml
./includes/xml/videohoster-YouTubeHD.xml

3. Copy and paste the above hoster xml locations in and click "Import" following the on screen prompts.

These instructions are how you re-import the default hosters or in the future add in new ones which get developed. ;)

Some features that would be nice to see coming up in the next version :
- Post a new thread in X forum when a new vid is uploaded
- A block you can put in left or central column with the X latest comments
- An option to put some categories as private (based on usergroup or something) / making "private" videos not appearing in the profil page block.

- A way to handle local or remote mp3s files

- The RSS flux is not working correctly, I have an empty page.

really most templates within Your STyle > Video Directory Templates, but in particular you might wanna try VIDEO_SHELL, video_bit_more, video_category, video_comment_bit and video_details_embed.

It lloks like you have two BBcodes called "video". If you have a previously installed BBcode called :video, try renaming it to something else.

BUG: BB Code in Posts

I beleive there is a bug with how this mod is using BB Code to embed the player in forum posts. If you paste the BB code of a video into a post and save it and then re-edit that same post and save it again... the video will be stripped out because the BB Code is becoming corrupted... possibly by the editor?

When the video is embedded in a post it is cutting off the top of the signature.

I will have to test for this bug in blogs as well...

This needs a fix please!

I am sure its a mod conflict. I have Egg Avatar and a Countdown timer that might be conflicting or maybe a picture resizer or a few other mods. But the problem is real and I got it :(

Editing Messages distorts BB Code for Videos

I have a big issue on my site in both the forum and blogs. When the BB code for a video is pasted into a message and initially saved it works fine and the video shows in the message.

THE PROBLEM:
When you re-edit the message the BB code is being transformed into some weird URL with extra code which destroys the video's BB code. When the message is saved again the video box is replaced with a text url instead.

Few things I want to mention:

What does "dsahkads" means in the videourl settings?

Had a short look into videohoster-YouTubeHD.xml.
Seems there is &hd=1 missing in fetch_embedcode()

I also suggest to use http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/ for including flash.

feel like we would get users to submit more videos if we had the Add Video button on the video directory home. I modified the template for that but it doesn't work because the Category ID is a requirement.
I think it would make more sense to let users choose to Add a Video from anywhere, then on the add video form they can pick which category it belongs to.

Did anybody also think of that? Done that?

southie, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I have a conflict with vBulletin-Glossary (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=188189) which creates the following error when viewing the VIDEO BBCode:

Note that I do not have vBSEO installed, but I do have vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=206169) installed. When I removed the offending lines of code I received another error from the main vbglossar.php file which did not seem to reference vBSEO. I fear that the conflict may be deeply rooted.

Any ideas what may be causing this error and what might resolve the conflict?

If not, I can disable the VIDEO BBCode, but this results in corresponding threads created by Video Directory without a functional embedded video. This conflict was in the previous version, but not as critical since there was no thread creation feature previously. I can use AME (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=189267) to remedy this if I can simply insert the original URL of the video. I found the location of the code within the videodirectory_newthread and videodirectory_reportthread phrases, but I was unable to modify this to insert the raw video URL. I tried variations of the $videoinfo[url] variable, to no avail. Ideally, I would like to use all features of both mods, but alternatively I will settle for this workaround if I can get the variable to pass.

PROBLEM: New Video Squished Text v1.3.0

I just upgraded to the new version! I have one small problem. I use the default vb skin and im on vb3.7x. When I click the nice new button for adding a video there is some text above the category drop menu that is squished into the members names.

Please see the attached screenshot.

What edit can I do to fix this issue please. All my members are younger and need to see the text label so all my videos don't end up in the same category! ;)

Jaxel, in your next Update would it be Possible to Include a way to List the Comments on the Videos, ordered to view the Most Recent Ones First, by Page (and to select the Number of Results to Show per Page)? :confused:

This to be able to Control them and Moderate them, if not is impossible to Control and Moderate the Comments on the Videos because I Can't know where the Recent Posts have been Made

I am getting "Invalid video specified." when I try to post a comment. I am using the vbSEO rewrite rules just in case that matters.

Ok, I can post comments to videos without the re-write but with the re-write rules in place it says invalid video specified.

im still having trouble with getting access to the video.php page, says i dont have permission, is there some kind of setting i am missing? any help from anybody would be great

For Each Usergroup you should set the Permissions to Use the Mod. ;)

Can report videos

this is a great add on. i have a suggestion from what i have noticed on my board

right now, when the new thread feature is enabled people are just watching the video in the forums and not taking the time to go to the video directory. i was hoping this thread creation feature would increase awareness of the video directory but its having the opposite affect. would be better if just a link was provided. another good reason to have it this way is i have set my video directory up so only certain usergroups can view it. the way it is now, anyone can view it, even guests, by viewing the video in the forums through the new video added thread.

also can the thread creation feature be made automatic instead of checking it off every time?
