Those are not per-video APIs, those are category APIs. The APIs required for this mod must be for ONE and only one video at a time.

Just a tip for those getting issues on CMPS link in Navbar.

You will have to edit a plugin to make it work properlly and not template.

I've been using Survivor mod for sometime and upgraded for this one (no problem at all) at Survivor's last version to make navbar link to work on CMPS all i did was add /forums/ (or folder name were your forums are located) on the line video.php at navbar_videolink template. Now with this new version this template became orphan (and useless) and found out this function is take care by a plugin and not a template any longer.

In fact it's kinda same edition to make it work but for newbies it's gonna be a little difficult.

Not sure if this has been reported before, but the time duration overlay (over the thumbnail images and the like) is misaligned in IE6. In some places, it's just a little off (not completely over the image itself), but in others, it's way off. Anyone have a fix for this?

Also, having trouble finding information about what needs to be done to remove the link and copyright notice. I saw something vague about contacting the original hack author, but it sounded like speculation. What's the verdict there?

I have made a start on this myself. My first step was to get a link in postbits to all the videos uploaded by that user. I put this below where it says your location and how many posts you have:

Suggestion is to make them more user and search engine optimized by removing the paramenters from URL:

Idea For Next Update: Is Important to be Able to Moderate Comments, so it'd be Important to be able to Search For Latest Comments, and present them on a Page (in groups of 10 that can be set via Mod Options), and when Clicking on a Link of the Comments Search Result you can Navigate to the Particular Comment and Moderate it. ;)

Currently is Not Possible to Moderate Comments simply because there is no way to know when they've been Posted and also there's no way to Search for them. :confused:

I Hope you can Include that Feature on your Next Release Jaxel. ;)

NOTES:
vBulletin 3.7.0 instituted a new avatar-thumbnail system. There is a high probability that you are unaware of this new system and may have failed to setup your vBulletin to make use of it. Make sure that a directory called /thumbs is located in your avatar directory and CHMOD it to 777. Then go into Maintenance > Update Counters and run the Rebuild Custom Avatar Thumbnails process.

Hey all, nice mod Jax.

Everything working on mod except Categories, I have no place to edit them.
Fully clean install yesterday on 3.8.1.
Only options i have for setting up are in vb options and they is no manage catagories in them, i have nothing else in the acp.

Strange - rebooted pc and options appeared, tried clearing cache in firefox before hand, with no luck.

Bug on Uninstalling Process:

When I Tried to Uninstall the Mod on a Test Forum, I received the Following Two (2) Errors; is Important Jaxel that you include a Logic Sentence that If Any of the Table don't Exist then Continue to the Next Steps, because the Process Gets Stopped for Each Missing Table.

Tables: ZZZvideotag and ZZZvideotagvideo

I had to go to phpMyAdmin, Create the Tables with 1 Field in them (Any), and then Run the Uninstall Process for it to Complete Fine, but the Sentence on the Uninstaller is Very Important for Not to get this Errors:

ZZZ are Table Prefixes.

Hi guys,
I have getting this error whenever I try to watch any video:
"You are not logged in or you do not have permission to watch videos."

But the strange thing is I can upload videos.

All the permissions are appropriately set for the categories but even the system administrator is getting that message. I saw some previous posts in this thread where people said they have resolved the issue but they never said how :(

Can someone please help me resolve this issue.

First of all, I found NO instructions for uninstalling this mod. So I uninstalled it from the Product Manager in my admincp and now I'm getting database error reports emailed to me. Help please!


*EDIT - Ok, my bad on this one. I removed the product but hadn't removed all of the uploaded files yet. It seems after removing all of the video directory files from my server I am no longer getting database error messages.

"The response of the video-server can't be read."

That error came while adding a series of videos and this was the 6th out of 9 videos. The others in the series were fine. I can't "Load the information" or add it by hand either. I saw two others in this forum with the same error, but I couldn't find an answer if one was given, so if I missed it forgive me.

Any ideas?

Also, I love the idea of having an "add video" button on the front page and then having a drop down select box for categories. Would make it much easier for users to understand :)

Ok, so after more adding of videos it seems to not be the _ problem. I am at a lose. Has happened with about 4 videos now. Seems to be for no reason as the others by the same uploader load fine.

Hmm, I've installed this fresh and followed all the steps. The mod is seriously awesome but I can't get avatars to show up in the comments. I've chmodded the thumbs folder and I've rebuilt both avatars and custom avatars. Any ideas? Thumbnails work ok for picture commenting, and when I view the image location, it gives me a long string, opposed to an image file in the thumbs directory. I'm pretty sure my images store to the database, and I installed vbulletin at the 3.7.x level.

All was working like a charm, and didn't do any changement in your hack, but since it is insalled I tried some other hacks (maybe there is a correlation) and I just pay attention yesterday that the :

Video detail settings
Video tag settings

Options in the AdminCP don't 'work' anymore. I mean when i click on the links nothing is appearing (even if I can access the 'Video-directory Details' via the VB options menu).

EDIT: I found that my problem is related to the XML cp_nav file

For the ease of the members, if it was possible to add a "Video URL: __________ Submit" right in the video_home. which submits the video automatically to a category. doesn't even matter you can't choose categories.

I don?t want to say anything, but anyone wants to add something or edit something. So that leads me to the conclusion that you guys have that thing already running completely. Then why is it too hard to ask for such a little help then letting me know how the Videohosters that come with the Mod, except YOUTUBE which worked from the start, have to be configured in order to work. Seems you all got that working.

I don?t find any hint about that in any manual and noone can tell me just that little thing ? :(

I can't get YouTube HD videos to play in their bigger sized player formats even with the &fmt=22 extension to the URL. I see the example site and the Walt Disney fan site have their HD clips in the proper screen size, but even when I copy their HD video's URL to my forum for testing it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

If you look on page 20 and post #286 in this thread, Jaxel included the file for the Veoh. If you're looking to do "other" hosters, you might want to look that file up in an editor and play around with the settings. I don't know enough of that piece of it to do it. :(

When you?re on the FTP of your Webspace where you host your vB Forum, you got Folders & Files. And in FTP clients with which I assume you connect to your Webspace, you can usually do something like right-mouse-click on a Folder and then you should have something like CHMOD which basically means that you can change the Permissions of a Folder or File.

Google video does not have a publicly available API, and google has said they will never work on one (since google video is dead, its just youtube now).

Hey Jaxel,

Nice add-on. I think you should make it so that we can edit the video url so that when things get deleted off these hosts we don't have to delete everything. I think it would be really useful. Also, editing comments would be another nice feature you should look into for upgrades.

Additionally, I noticed that usernames within the comment boxes are in the "strike out" format, is there an immediate way to resolve this issue? It doesn't display any other formats of the users name, such as different colors or font textures for moderators and etc.

Jaxel, possible possible when higher quality (HD) is available, the size of the video can be increased? I know you can use HDEF to get the bigger screen, but it doesn't seem to use the HD quality right away. Or possible to increase size when HQ is available? That you can set it in the options menu of the AdminCP. At the moment, your plugin grabs normally a very small video size which you can't set if a HQ is available.

Same here, I'm using DivX webplayer and want to know if this mod will work with it.

It would appear that the most common use for this mod is linking to video hosting sites, as stated in the lead, but I want to eliminate the third party altogether. I want to FTP the video files (in DivX format) to the forum root, point the mod to that host and away we go.

Will this mod do that or is it only for host's suggested in the lead?

Not so sure about that, the vid works every time on the YouTube site but the modification gives only on certain vids the "video is no longer available" error. When these vid's is used with a bbcode link on another site it works perfectly.

but until just today, i noticed that when i put in the youtube url and then press load information, it takes about 10 seconds to actually load the information where normally, it's in a blink of an eye

i have tried upgrading to the 18th march version but the problem still persists

i registered and tried to load on your site (http://www.8wayrun.com) and it was really fast compared to mine

what could this mean? is there like some cache i have to clear or any bits i need to rebuild?

MP3/Wav support technically already exists... They work the same as video embed codes, just use audio embed codes. Just get me the per-video XML feed of your requested music site and I'll do a hoster file for it.

Some times happen to me when i try to add some , and i solve it by following
* first check the url of video , and note its case sensitive
* refresh the add-video page , and try again

How come that every time i install this mod and when i go to the user manager to edit the permissions of a usergroup instead of editing the permissions it adds another usergroup with the same name and everything so for example.

If i want to edit the moderators group permissions it adds another moderators group into the usergroup permission.

Now that ive un-installed this it still does it so ive to reupload the vbulletin files again and update all the hacks from the beggining because of this.
So does anyone has this or its only me?

Just create a secondary usergroup, and restrict a category only to that group.

Did you take your time? Jaxel's mod works flawlessly form what I saw, I just un-installed and it was working fine on a brand new 3.8 board. I suggest un-install then re-install but take your time and make sure everything is uploaded and you followed all his steps. He might have other advice as this is his mod but just a suggestion.

There is a bug in the youtube module which prevents some videos from working.

Here is an example video:

We installed everything properly using 3.8.2 and it displays on the navbar, however when we click the link in the navbar to go to the "Video Directory" it says

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Loved this mod. Just upgraded it to the latest and everything went all smooth. Only issue is, my videos are still showing in the same old smaller size instead of the large size thats in the Screenshots. Please help. I need to have large sized HD videos too.

I did an upgrade to 1.2.4 and all of a sudden none of my usergroups are able to view any videos.The strange thing is I am not able to check this settting under 'usergroup->video-directory permissions':

Today I added 2 Videos (as HD Versions) from YT onto my Video Directory. The displayed fine, worked without a Problem. Then I did include them with the BB Code into a Forum post, and then I got a Database error all the time.

If its both clips in one post, or separated, always a DB Error. Even as the non-HD Version.

I never had this Problem once and when I added a different Video just for testing and included that via BB Code into a Forumpost, there was no problem. But only with these 2. Any ideas what that could be ?

My feature requests would be the ability to have a new post created in a selected forum upon the addition of a new video to the directory. @tyranny... that error has NOTHING to do with this mod. It has to do with Youtube sucking. It just means that the server that the video is polling the XML data from is down... wait a few hours and it usually fixes itself.

when you upgrade don't over rite the thumbnails folder because thats were there stored you have to upload manually. thats your problem if you have a backup of your server you may be able to save a lot of them

contains a box with user information retrieved from vb forums such as profile picture, last log in, age, ... etc.

With megaupload, you can click an uploaded file to watch it on Megavideo, and from what I've tested, alot of the time you can use files that aren't available on Megavideo.

Example:

Hi,

Need help after server transfer. The thumbnails are not showing up.

Together with server transfer there was upgrade from php4 to php5, mysql 4 to mysql 5, etc.

Should I re-install the mod? Will the existing listing of videos disappear?

Kindly advise.

Please enter a folder, to which the thumbnails should be stored (Please no shlash (/) at the begining or the end)Sounds like your path to the thumbnails folder as changed.

Can you add these features? This is a HUGE deal for my forum. People will be commenting on it and expecting to receive vbcredits.

I agree, i'd like it so when a post is created in the video directory it also creates a new thread in the video directory forum.also comments made to the video are also added to the thread..

As is stands members don't know if a new video as been added without going into the video directory itself,which kind of takes them away from whats going on elsewhere..Plus i would say that maybe thats a solution to your problem dancue.

First of all I want to say thanks, this is a great addon.

I have a pretty simple question: What do I need to change the layout from the acutual (as the played video is shown the whole width of the forum) to the former version from Surviver like in the attachment.

Would be glad if someone could provide the code and whatever is necessary. Thanks :)
