spipo,
do you have new report entries created in vbseo_sitemap interface?
Networknutz,
when do you have that error? When opening vbseo_sitemap/ page, trying to generator sitemap?
Mickie D,
you can modify vbseo_sitemap_functions.php file:
FIND:
define('VBSEO_SLASH_METHOD', ((strtoupper(substr....);
replace with:
define('VBSEO_SLASH_METHOD', '?');
SAT2M,
it's in vB admincp->vBSEO Sitemap Generator options.

Thank you very much iojam :)
Maybe you could put that in the vbulletin options for people running other servers (for a later release that would be a nice touch)
But also you can do this in nginx
rewrite ^/archive/index.php/(.*)$ /archive/index.php?$1;
This will work but it also leaves a copy of the archive (sadly) in the format of
http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/archive/index.php?f-354.html
and now i have
http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/archive/index.php/f-354.html
It would be nice to have just the last one but i cannot get the archive itself to display the archive the way i want it :(
but your way would be good if you don't care about the clean urls because it would stop the duplicate content :)
So thanks very much but if you have any ideas how we could fix it 100% that would be great i think its close but i am not sure what to do next becuase i have no idea about rewriting code?

Just a quick question to someone...
I've just checked my reports - and the "run time" has shot up from 45s to over 80,000 secs !
Haven't changed anything, and it's just happened over the last couple of days...

Looks like sitemap generator stopped and resumed generation on the next day, so you got a total time from start to finish equal to 24hours.

Wait, i added this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ subdir/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
to the htaccess file and it seems to be working now. I'm a newbie to all this!
mxweas
08-29-2008, 03:12 AM
So my htaccess works because it shows the same error as when I go directly to the php page. So here's my question:
I have my .htaccess file in place because when I try to access the sitemap it gives me the same error as the php page it gets redirected to. You can see the page here: http://idevkit.com/forums/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=xml
Any idea why I am getting this error?

I'm not sure if this issue has been brought up, but I seem to be having trouble with the "Extra URLs." The syntax is all correct within extra-urls.txt and it works fine if I run the generator, however, if I let it run as scheduled, the extra urls are not included in the sitemap. This has happened more than 4 times that I've noticed.
Is this an actual bug?

mxweas,
your sitemap URL is http://idevkit.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz
Kiros72,
try to modify vbseo_sitemap_config.php file, find:
$vbseo_vars = array(
and add above:global $vbseo_vars;
kevin12,
if you have vBSEO installed, make sure that you are running the latest version (vBSEO3.2.0)
donwon,
make sure that you uploaded "vbseo_sitemap" folder into your forums folder.

it's only compatible with stock vBulletin URLs and vBSEOed forums.
jim6763nva,
you should disable "Include old URLs" option.

there are no compatibility issues with these mods.

Hi iojam
My vbseo its 2.3 and vbulletin 3.7.3
Vbseo 3.2 not working fine in my server (Cpanel)
BOSS 302
09-03-2008, 02:02 AM
I have vbulletin 3.7, vbadvanced, vbseo 3.2, and this now installed. My forums are in a root/forum folder. I need to know exactly how my .htaccess should look in both forum and root because spiders are getting stuck on my homepage and not crawling anything. Right now I don't even have a .htaccess in my root folder. This is all new to me. Also is it normal for this to only generate 1 map for google? I thought it was suppose to make a yahoo map.
Here is what my current .htaccess looks like in my forum root
# Comment the following line (add '#' at the beginning)
# to disable mod_rewrite functions.
# Please note: you still need to disable the hack in
# the vBSEO control panel to stop url rewrites.
RewriteEngine On
# Some servers require the Rewritebase directive to be
# enabled (remove '#' at the beginning to activate)
# Please note: when enabled, you must include the path
# to your root vB folder (i.e. RewriteBase /forums/)
#RewriteBase /
#RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.yourdomain\.com
#RewriteRule (.*) http://www.yourdomain.com/forums/$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|modcp/|cron)
RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?)?)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !^(admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]

09-03-2008, 02:36 PM
kevin12,
there are no known issues with vBSEO3.2.0 and cPanel, if you get any problem please open a ticket on vbseo.com
BOSS 302,
if you are running vBSEO, then there is no need to modify .htaccess file - it already includes rewrite rule for sitemap generator.
BOSS 302
09-03-2008, 02:59 PM
So then that .htaccess looks fine?^
And I don't need an .htaccess in my root? That seems odd... Spiders are not crawling any pages.
iojam
09-03-2008, 03:03 PM
.htaccess looks ok. What is your sitemap URL?
BOSS 302
09-03-2008, 06:56 PM
forum/vbseo_sitemap
But my homepage (vbadvanced) and forum are like named the same thing even though I named them separately. When someone views my homepage or forum it says the same thing when I view who's online. viewing forum.
The spiders seem to get stuck on one of the indexes and not go anywhere else.
I was told I do need a .htaccess in my root as well. What goes in it?
And are you sure my .htaccess looks okay for the FORUM root? I see rewrite engine on twice.
And what about the URLS in that htaccess? Do mine need to go there?

amazing mod I must say.. wonder why i did not noticed it before.
I have few questions:-
1. Why is that .htaccess in forum dir required, i mean what does it actually do ? Is it just for pointing to sitemap file that is in the data dir from site root ? Can't google download sitemaps from inside directories coz I see in Webmaster tools that we can add from inside dirs as well.
Example: sitemap.xml
Example: directory/other_sitemap.xml
2. Right after generating sitemap, is it submitted to Google instantly ? I see in my webmaster tools that it still says, "You have not submitted any Sitemaps".
3. Is it okay to set "Generate Yahoo-Compatible Text Sitemap" to NO. Is it as important as google's ?
4. I have included group.php, album.php and tags.php, yet I see this in report details everytime I generate sitemap:-
Album URLs 0 (-)
Social Group URLs 0 (-)
Tag URLs 0 (-)
Also, I checked in sitemap_1.xml manually, there aren't any url's of either of those 3.
5. In the Sitemap Downloads Log, I see only Google and MSN downloaded my sitemap and not others. Does it take some time ?
6. If I'd like to index other custom vbpage URL's (i.e. not default vbulletin's), how do I do it with this mod and not manually ? Do I need to create a custom addon for that ?
Thank you so much.

You do not upload the htaccess folder, instead just the .htaccess file in it to your forums root.

Toupsx,
did you generate sitemap?
veenuisthebest,
1. it is required that Google finds sitemap in the topmost folder of the site (forum).
2. Google, is "pinged", but it cannot submit sitemap to your google webmaster account, you should do that manually.
3. Yes, it's not required for Google. Earlier text sitemap was used for Yahoo submission, but now Yahoo supports xml sitemap as well.
4. Do you have any groups/albums publically accessible on your forum?
5. Yes, it might take time. You can submit sitemap to Yahoo here: https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites
6. You can either create an add-on (similar to ones includes in "addons/" folder) or manually insert all URLs in "extra-urls.txt" file and they will be included in sitemap as well.

1. Okay
2. Does "pinging successful" means that sitemap has been successfully submitted to the respective SE's servers ?
3. Okay
4. Yes, i have the groups/albums enabled for guests.
5. Okay
6. So this means that we can index static url's with extra-urls.txt and for dynamic urls we need to create an addon, right ?
7. In the email I get "Live.com Ping" as well but it does not display in Report details in the admincp.
Edit: Think I found a bug. I have 9 static URL's listed in "extra-urls.txt". Then I generated a sitemap. FINE ! All 9 are loaded in the sitemap. But the scheduled task that ran at 2 am did not caught those URL's and gave a -9. Then I manually ran generator and got a +9. Seems scheduled task ain't checking "extra-urls.txt"

This is probably because you do not have the .htaccess in the forums root with the required contents. Read the installation manual.

I have uploaded everything to the tee (I hope). and when I enter the adress: http://www.yoursite.com/vB-root/vbseo_sitemap/ (with my address entered :)) I get what is showing in the attachment below.
I also did your test to see if my mod_rewrite is able. It re-directed me back to Google homepage - so no problems there.

If it doesn't, then you'll need to manually move the sitemap to your forum root.

I am successfully generating the sitemap files, and they are in the vbseo_sitemap/data folder. However, they are not getting re-written to my www.mysite.com/forums folder (even though the report page says that is where it should land).
How can I diagnose what is going on with the htaccess rewrite? I have put that file in www.mysite.com directory as well as www.mysite.com/forums directory as well as www.mysite.com/forums/vbseo_sitemap directory. Nothing seems to help.

Private subforums are not included in sitemap, since they cannot be viewed by SE bots anyway.

Awesome - got it working.
I think part of the problem is I was using a text file and not a .htaccess file. The .htaccess file works with the rewrite test.
Can you tell me which specific directory I need to have the vbseo_sitemap htaccess file in?

My question is a little different - main site is Joomla and the Joomla main menu has link to the sites vbulletin forum (they are not integrated). Have Joomap and Jpromoter2 and wanted to know:
-is installing this redundant?
-if benifical would there be any conflicts with the above mods?
-any recommendations with this setup (Joomla/vbulletin)?

.htaccess should be created in forums folder.
Thanks. But for some reason, it's STILL not copying the files to the /forums directory. I don't know what else to do. I've verified that they get created successfully in the /vbseo_sitemap/data folder okay. But then they are stuck there.
This is what I have in total in my .htaccess file. I'm not sure what the other stuff is - it was already there - so maybe you can tell me if that's causing a problem or what it's for...
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^view_(.*).htm$ view.php?pg=$1

I also can not access the http://www.yoursite.com/vB-root/vbseo_sitemap/ site either to verify that it is set up correctly.
I have uploaded all files, added the product through the AdminCP, scheduled the tasks, waiting for it to run for multiple days, tried .htaccess with and without the .txt, and also tried manually added the sitemap using the Google webmaster tools.

Do you have the .htaccess in your forums root ? I don't think "RewriteEngine On" is required two times.

Forget about htaccess.txt. You just need .htaccess, copy it to forums root. If it doesn't work then you probably do not have htaccess enabled on your server. contact your host.

A tip:-
I noticed we can easily link it with Google webmasters account so that we do not need to submit it their manually everytime.
1. First make sure you're .htaccess is working fine and sitemaps are generated.
2. Simply sign to Google Webmasters (http://www.google.com/webmasters/) -> Dashboard -> Sitemaps -> Add General Web Sitemap -> and give your sitemap URL as http://www.yoursite.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz and Add it.
This way your sitemap would automatically be updated.
3. You can do the same thing with Yahoo Site Explorer.
Go to Yahoo Site Explorer (https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit/) -> My Sites -> Manage -> and Add Website Feed as http://www.yoursite.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz
Yahoo doesn't update/download sitemap automatically, so all you need to do is to Select your feed and click "Resubmit".

Okay - I didn't think two were required, but wasn't sure if it had to be right next to the next line. I told you I'm a newbie. :p
I have the .htaccess file in my forums root, yes.
Regarding "they won't be copied to your forums directory" - then what is the rewrite actually doing? And what path should I be telling google my sitemaps reside in? I have it set right now to http://www.clutchfitness.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz, and then after I manually run the sitemap generator, and it returns the link to the sitemap, I click on it and get this error:
Not Found
The requested URL /forums/forums/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
If the .htaccess file is located IN the mysite.com/forums directory does that mean I do NOT need the .htaccess file to have "forums" in it, like this:
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
Or should it still have forums in it, like this?
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ /forums/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
Sorry I'm so confused, but I know I can get this to work. :)

yes you do not need "forums" in it. As you can see your sitemap URL http://www.clutchfitness.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz works fine.
But the one you're requesting is /forums/forums/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php (note the "forums" twice)
Remove forums from .htaccess and you're done.

"if(!vbseo_dbtbl_exists('album') || !function_exists('vbseo_album_url_row'))" doesn't exist in vbseo_sitemap_functions.php

if(!function_exists('vbseo_album_url_row')){functi on vbseo_album_url_row(){}}

Is it possible to have this tool ONLY generate the URL list for the forum (so that I can add that to the URL list for the rest of my site before I run my own sitemap-generation script)?
In other words, my site consists of two sections:
1) an informational site
2) the forum which sits in the forums directory
Whenever I add anything to my site, I add the new URL into a text file that contains all URLs of my site ... I then run a server script which then generates my google sitemap file. What I'd like to do is have this tool generate the text-only URL list for my forums section (and not generate the whole sitemap) ... I would then add that URL list to the URL list for the rest of my site, then run my sitemap-generation script. Is that possible?

That's similar to what I asked before and need an answer on as I'm not really familiar with seo tools - only my question was that the main part of the site is Joomla which has a menu link to the vbulliten forum (no bridge or integration other than the forum is a subdomain) - so the question was if you run seo (Jpromoter) on the main site does it pick up the forum too? In other words would be redundant to run this mod on the forum side or would this help?

I submitted and got results,

but they sitemap links give me 404 error
I have uploaded lighthttpd_rewrite renamed it as .htaccess and uploaded them. I found no such files (sitemap.xml and urllist) on forum directory.
I had created manually - sitemap_index.xml.gz, sitemap_1.xml.gz
When clicked on those file after once again running sitemap generator, the files are getting downloadable and there's only a blank file while in reports it show as - 139 URLs, 26.43Kb) 26.12Kb uncompressed,
chmod permission for forum directory is - 755, data folder is 777 only the folder and not the files under it
Can I know what should be done now ?

gregmlb,
vBSEO Sitemap Generator has a built-in option to create text based sitemap (urllist.txt file with one URL per line).
realmr,
in case of lighttpd rewrite rules should be entered in existing lighty config file (lighttpd.conf) on your server, not in .htaccess file.

no vbseo's .htaccess is already modified for vbSEO and Sitemap generator both. so you just need to upload the .htaccess that came with vBSEO package.
try disabling Generate Yahoo-Compatible Text Sitemap in vBSEO sitemap settings.

I installed this version with vb 3.73pl1.
Starting the cron job manually for the first time gave me a memory allocation error with over 1 gig wanted by the script.
I then cleared the data directory from *.gz and started again - worked.
However, the cron job is doing very strange things.
Let's say I have 48 sitemaps in data with #48 being below my limit of 50000 URLs. It then just adds a #49 with URLs from vbseo_sm_vba.php - no forum URLs added or changed, which is not correct.
So I set up a batch clearing the directory from *.gz prior to the cron job - same behaviour, but now I just have that #49, the index (correct with all files) and a Yahoo list (also only few URLs) in there.
Having the cron job run a second time does exactly the same again. I have to clear the directory manually, login and run the job. That's the only way everything is ok.
Any hints on this one?
I am a vbseo owner but do not use it currently, not installed.

It says, Your Google Sitemap Index URL: http://www.officechai.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz
but when i open filezilla, and go to this path, /public_html/forum, i dont see that xml.gz file. if i dont find it, how will google? but yes, i can see a similar file in /public_html/forum/vbseo_sitemap/data
what is the path I should give to google? It says, You have recently submitted one or more Sitemaps for this site. Processing Sitemaps may take some time. Check again later to see if pages from your Sitemaps are included in Google's index. and the file path I filled int that text box is forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz
moreover google only accepts xml format, what is that xml.gz format? Do i have to convert it before submitting to google?
Which step is correct and which is incorrect; how should i rectify the incorrect one. thanks for the product, and your time to us.

I believe its like a ghost file generated by the script, if you click on the URL it shows the site map is there, thats what google will see.
Google accept .gz too

This worked but how do I correct the yahoo sitemaps?
Thanks for the help,
no vbseo's .htaccess is already modified for vbSEO and Sitemap generator both. so you just need to upload the .htaccess that came with vBSEO package.
try disabling Generate Yahoo-Compatible Text Sitemap in vBSEO sitemap settings.

Thanks for the help,
You do not need to *correct* any yahoo sitemaps. They do not accept .txt files anymore, so the same index.xml.gz would work fine for Yahoo

I just installed the VBSEO sitemap and I followed the directions perfect. But when I go to access my Sitemap reports (I go to http://www.mysite.com/Forum/vbseo_sitemap) I get this error message:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@mysite.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I installed everything where it needed to be installed. I see VBseo in my control panel and I can see the settings. But when I click on reports I get that same error message. Is it because any reports havent been made yet since its scheduled to run at 2am?
Would anyone know whats wrong?

That's similar to what I asked before and need an answer on as I'm not really familiar with seo tools - only my question was that the main part of the site is Joomla which has a menu link to the vbulliten forum (no bridge or integration other than the forum is a subdomain) - so the question was if you run seo (Jpromoter) on the main site does it pick up the forum too? In other words would be redundant to run this mod on the forum side or would this help?
Just hoping someone here has had experience with this type of setup and can point me in the right direction so that I don't have to play trial and error and screw things up!

realmr,
in case of lighttpd rewrite rules should be entered in existing lighty config file (lighttpd.conf) on your server, not in .htaccess file.
done the same as mentioned, still get 404 error not found
had posted this - modified for my forum:
url.rewrite-once = ( "^/((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)" => "/board/vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1" )

Hello...
Seems to be an issue somewhere. Not sure where, but somewhere.
The data is made and put into the "data" directory that is inside the "vbseo_sitemap" directory which is under our forum root.
The files are made just fine and reported to Google. Looking in the Google Webmaster Tools, it sees the main master file just fine, but does not index any of it. Why? Well, looking inside the file it makes, all the links for each file is not to the forum root where the .htaccess file is.
Here is the master file Google calls...(As reported by Webmaster Tools)
REMOVED
Note the path above DOES work as it is redirected as needed by the .htacess file.
But inside that master file, all the others are listed like this...
REMOVED
Note the added vbseo_sitemap directory.
As such, these all fail as the files it is looking for is actually inside the DATA directory.
REMOVED
Now, even more weird. If I look at your spider logs, it shows files are being picked up. So which is it? Google says on their site, nothing pickup up, yet you show them as being accessed.
Please be so kind to advise.
Thank you.

David Bott

Thank you for the reply.
Looking at the option setting, it says it will keep the files in the forum root if you do not set this. Seeing I do not want the files stored in the forum root, as we have over 250 of them, I set it to...
REMOVED
...Are you saying this is not correct? All my files in that that dir and then the data is in the data directory within it.
Are you saying this is not correct?
BTW...Running a test now jsut for kicks. But it takes time. :)

Thank you. That did the trick.
No errors, it was just the wording used in the description of the option. It kind of reads that all the files will be placed in the forum root. Thus I added in the URL to the directory of the vbseo_sitemap.
All good now.

I've been using this for a while but now I'm wondering if I've been using it correctly.
Specifically for Yahoo, do I need to do anything with the reports that are generated? If I go to the Yahoo submit site page you can submit a URL or a submit a site feed. Do I need to do either of them if I'm using this mod? If so, which one? If the site feed, what is the full URL that they are asking for?
Thanks very much for the help!

Hi,
This is my first post here.
Thanks for this sitemap plugin.
I would like very much to install it, but I use FrontPage 2003 for the upload, and when I tried to add the .htaccess file to the upload files list in my local website, I got an error message.
Then added the htaccess.txt file instead, but the application wouldn't let me change it to .htaccess
So I regrettably got cold feet and abandoned the install.
Using an FTP application might work, but I learnt from experience that this can corrupt the FrontPage Server extension files.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks. :)

open/edit your httpd.ini file etc.........
As this file is not accessable by me from my Plesk control panel, and knowing how uncoperative my web host support team are, it looks like I would have to forget it.

Sitemap has been created.
But the *.xml files and *.txt file looks ok after unzipping.
Is there anyway to stop this error message?
One more thing please, the vbseo sitemap lists only the /forum files, but not the root website, so I had to add the missing files manually.
Is there anyway that vbseo sitemap would index the whole website?

I figured out the problem. I have been running the program for several years and my sitemap.gz files were to large to run anymore, therefore it was showing the above error.
What i did to fix this was:
Went to my server, and then to my /forums/vbseo_sitemap/data
I then deleted all of the sitemaps.gz files and the urltext.gz file.
I went back to my admincp and reran the sitemaps, and it worked like a charm.
If anyone needs help on this particular promblem, just pm me or repost here and i will make a much more thorough post about fixing the problem.

There is a lot of controversy on this and everyone has there opinion and experiences. I for one would uninstall it right now before you get to far along with it. But then again that is from my experience and it is my opinion.
Before you installed something like this you should have done a lot of reading on it first because there is a lot of cons on this in my opnion. This does not promise to help you site ratings. If you manage you site good it is not needed but that again is my opnion.
The biggest issue your going to have is that now that you have installed it you can never uninstall it. You stuck using it forever.

That same thing happened to me on the web site I installed it on. They said it would take a while to build back up. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I kept it up for I think three to four months. I never received the results they said I would. In fact everything went downhill.
I ended up uninstalling it and in about a month or two I was back to where I was before the install. The only problem I had was the url rewrites. They cause havoc on my site because when users posted a url within my site they used the url rewritten link that VBSEO did and when I uninstalled it the the rewrites went away and the links would not work. That was why I said if you have any doubts at all remove it right away before it does to many rewrites because if you wait to long you will have no choice but to leave it installed. It is one of those things where if you want to remove it later you can not because it will cause to much damage.

Best opton for yuoı is to disable text base sitemap and remove showpost urls from sitemaps.

flashwave,
it looks like your subforums are private (not visible to guests) - in this case they are not included in sitemap.
Alright, that's the case. Thank you!

Look like this. Both showthread and showpost have same content. Which one will you prefer SE's to index and as a guest which one will keep you on the site longer.

Hello,
if you have anything defined in Add-ons list, you should remove that.
Your sitemap URL is http://marketersspaceforum.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz and it will be accessible when you will generate sitemap.

apn3a,
vBSEO Sitemap Generator only includes vBulletin URLs in sitemap + URLs created by add-ons. You can also manually add more links in "extra-urls.txt" file and they will be automatically included in sitemap too.
zfrank1,
Try to remove all files from data/ folder, disable "Text sitemap" option and regenerate sitemap.
intospain,
you are welcome, btw vBSEO price was never changed since the first day of it's official release (more than 3 years ago).

I have installed this 2.2 on my 3.5x board and while I can see the sitemap created in my control panel (and it actually exists on my server too), when google tries to download it they get a 404.
Also, when i first log into the vbseo button from control panel it asks me for a password. Is this maybe why the google bot can't access it? It needs to use a password as well?
Finally, it is supposed to email me when a Sitemap is generated, but I haven't received an email from my server about it in the 4 days its been installed, even though it seems to be creating the sitemaps.

tribedude,
make sure that you created .htaccess file as described in installation instructions.
the .htaccess file was created as the instruction indicated. i logged into my google sitemanager utility and see that although a sitemap file was created by vbseo that google can download, all the URLS it contains are 404s
Our board is huge with 4 million posts and while I understand this product has to split that into files containing less than 50k URLS per file. It created the master Sitemap file as board/vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap_index.xml.gz which is excellent , but all the suburls in that file are listed as being in a wrong directory: /board/sitemap_3.xml.gz
How can I fix this so vbseo actually gives suburls that actually point to the files?

/board/sitemap_3.xml.gz is the correct URL (although files are stored in data/ folder) and it should be working if you have created .htaccess file in forums folder. Please check that your host supports mod_rewrite.

Well, I'm having no luck but this is what I attempted: (Keep in mind that reviewpost resides in a different database that vbulletin)
$domain="mysite.com/forums/reviewpost";
$dbuser="reviewpostdbuser";
$dbpass="reviewpostdbpass";
$dbname="reviewpostdb"; //the name of the database
$chandle = mysql_connect("my.host.com", $dbuser, $dbpass)
or die("Connection Failure to Database");
mysql_select_db($dbname, $chandle) or die ($dbname . " Database not found." . $dbuser);
// replace the URL below with your ReviewPost links main folder URL
$vba_links_url = 'http://www.mysite.com/forums/reviewpost/';
$lnkg = $db->query_read("SELECT id,cat,date FROM rp_products");
while ($lnk = $db->fetch_array($lnkg))
{
$url = 'showproduct.php/product/?product='.$lnk['id'];
if(VBSEO_ON)
$url = vbseo_any_url($url);
$url = $vba_links_url . $url;
vbseo_add_url($url, 1.0, $lnk['lastpost'], 'weekly');
}
mysql_close($chandle);
?>
Any advice would be appreciated.

After installing, I just get a blank page when I click on settings.
I have VBSEO installed. I double checked all permissions before install.
Just the settings page is not showing up.
Thanks.

ATVTorture,
we can provide for add-ons that are included in the package only. I do not even have ReviewPost personally.
commandoone,
try to open settings via vB admincp->vBulletin options->vBSEO Sitemap generator (in dropdown)
mohammad23,
do you have an *.html package of vBulletin? i.e. your forum links are looking like forumdisplay.html?f=x or forumdisplay.php?f=x ?

Kudos to Wayne Luke for turning me on to this plug-in.
Thank you very much to the vBSEO people who put this together.

Quick question for the hack creator/vB SEO team:
1. What exactly is the addition urls thing for?
2. Does this sitemap thing, if it's indexed/shown all the pages on a forum, affect how the rest of a website is indexed? As in, my site has more than a forum, and the forum is a directory, so would this cause any problems to the non forum sections like the site content or wiki?

Folks, I installed everything yesterday and did things just as instructed (and double-checked with prior installation on another forum that I run), but there was no e-mail this morning.
And, when I logged into the reports, there was nothing generated.
Is there a list of 'common' things to check to ensure that everything is done correctly? Does it take another day for this to work? I had it set to run last night (early this morning) at 2am.
EDITED: I received an e-mail this morning. So, it looks like it needs a full day before reporting information out. :D
