Installation:
1. Import XML file (as product): AdminCP > Plugin System > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]
2. OPTIONAL (custom placement on forum page)
Open desired template and put "$cybchatbox" to desired line.

To set options:
Go to: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Cyb - ChatBox

To have ChatBox enabled on desired page:
1. THIS_SCRIPT must be defined in php file (by default all important vBulletin files has this)
2. Hack options - You must add THIS_SCRIPT value for target page to "Show ChatBox on" setting field
3. Main template called on target page must contain "$cybchatbox" variable

To have ChatBox enabled on vBa CMPS:
1. Hack options - Add "adv_index" to "Show ChatBox on" setting field (values in this field should be separated by commas) > Save
2. vBa CMPS Default Settings - add "cybchatbox" to "Portal Output Global Variables" field (values in this field should be separated by carriage return) > Save
3. [Optional] Template "adv_portal" - add "$cybchatbox" to line where you want ChatBox to appear (for example below "$navbar") > Save

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

ETA: It works ok in Internet Explorer, but gives the security token error for *some* foxfire users (myself included)

I did both of those things -- everyone of my templates has been reverted and I did a full install on the 3.7 gold version before installing this update. When I access the chatbox from IE it works fine, but when I use FF I get the security token error. At least two other members of my site are having the same problem.

Anything else I should change?

Well, you could set it so that only registered members can see the chatbox... that would solve the spider issue. It is doesn't, you can use the set it so that only members with X posts can see/use the chatbox.

On our forum, you have to have 50 posts to see/use the chatbox to make new members familiar with the rest of the forum before they get sucked into chatting.

I have it set so that not logged in users can see it, but not post of course. And I do have it set to 10 posts or greater to view, but I'm currently only using the ChatBox Full, since I can't find an easy way to only have it inline in one specific forum on the site, not sitewide. I guess adding not logged in people to the list can't really cause that much harm since if they aren't a user they can't use it anyway.

The root of the problem here is Slurp, it's just completely ignoring the robots.txt file. I found more than a few instances of this while googleing for more info. So I'm not the only one this is happening to. People are reporting that Yahoo is crawling their site, but the stuff it shouldn't be searching never seems to make it into the search engine, however that's still breaking the robots.txt rules, even though Yahoo is adamant they obey them 100%.

Honestly, I do like this chat box. But, I hope you don't mind me making a few suggestions:

1), The chat bar, could it below all the messages? I believe it would fit the best there.
2), Possible to have an option that the chat box / shout box can be above the "What's Going On?"? I also believe in my opinion that it fits best there. Even though you of course can set it on your own, but I think this would be nice for new users.

The Security Token exists in the Cyb-ChatBox templates by default. My guess would be that you either had a pre-existing custom template for ChatBox in that style, or you inadvertantly edited it out of the template in that style...

Try reverting the Cyb- Chatbox templates, and see if your problem continues.

If you removed the time stamp from the box, but the [] was left behind like this;

The Security Token exists in the Cyb-ChatBox templates by default. My guess would be that you either had a pre-existing custom template for ChatBox in that style, or you inadvertantly edited it out of the template in that style...

Try reverting the Cyb- Chatbox templates, and see if your problem continues.

I found a bug in this chat mod. If you for example have a primary usergroup color set for example to red, but you set the display usergroup to blue (another group), the chat still shows the primary usergroup color red rather than the display usergroup I selected through the adminCP.

I would like to give a user moderator ability within the Chatbox (ability to delete/edit messages and ban/unban users), but not become an official Administrator or Moderator in the Forums. Can anyone recommend a way to accomplish this? I can setup a new usergroup and add that usergroup as a secondary usergroup to the Chat Moderator, but the Chatbox options only allow you to designate Admins, Admins/Supermods, or Admins/Supermods/Mods. Any way to change the code to specific a usergroup number?

EDIT - I figured out how to get it to work. I modified the plugin Cyb - ChatBox - IL and added the additional usergroup to the CASE statement.

You can export old table, then edit it to adjust column names for the new table, then import messages.

Just a bit of info for anyone using this chatbox. With the refresh set to 10 seconds, this EATS CPU.

I went from using a 12% CPU load down to 6% after removing the chatbox. I got a email from my host telling me that it was the misc.php?=cbbmessages causing such a high load.

Just a heads up, if you are going to use it, maybe set the refresh to something like 30 seconds or more.

just a couple of suggestions, for future releases maybe.

1)
i would like to see an option to add custom usergroups to this setting below.
as i have a few custom staff usergroups i would like to add. maybe change this area so we can add the permissions by usergroup #, instead of the admin/supermod/mod thing.
Groups able to delete/edit all messages, and ban/unban users
just a thought.:)

2)
anyway we could get an auto idle or timeout feature setting with the ability to set how much time before cutoff maybe.
or someway way we could have the box only reload chat data when there is a new shout maybe?

just would be cool if we had a way to shut down some resources to cpu, if needed during busy times.

Ok by adding the loading indicator I noticed something is very wrong with this chatbox.. So I sniffed the network to see how many times it requests the chat messages..

I added 4 messages to the chatbox, and this is the sniffed network traffic during and after sending these 4 lines.

I have made the chatbox to refresh every 10 seconds, obviously something is wrong.

First thing that is probably wrong is that you do not reset the 10 second timer after I send a message (and thus refresh the chatbox). What else is causing this, I do not know.

hi guys, I have been using chatbox for a few months now. Lately a lot of users are having problems, it comes back saying busy and some messages don't get posted, like it says busy for a minute or so, then the message does not get posted, the next message goes through then busy again for a while.

I am using vb 3.6.8 and cyb 1.9.9. Vb is the only thing running on the server, no server load issues that I know of and the user base is small, it happens even with only two people in chat.

Any help really appreciated, I really like the plugin but I cannot keep using it like this. thanks again.

Yes, really. I like this more than the other full featured chat mod on here. This one just requires a simple XML upload, versus the other one where you have to upload ten different php files in different locations.

Strange thing here is that the time displays correct on my other server so I guees maybe the Chat is not compatible with my current one? Maybe something needs to be added or changed to the way the time is being fetched?

2. If a add Guests to "Usergroups NOT able to view the ChatBox" but keep the link.. then when guest click on it they end up on the smiley FAQ page, kind of strange ;)
In my case I solved this with making the chat link only visible to logged in members.

1. I really don't know why this happens. Asked here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=183070), no replies.

2. If "CB Full" link was added by hack (option enabled in hack settings) or using "$cybcb_navbarlink" variable in template, then this should not happen. No permissions to view CB - no link in navbar.

Heya, Can you Add a Button under the Text Box (where you type in the message) saying Submit or something, because in gadgets like the iPod Touch or iPhone, you can't post a message in the shoutbox as the 'Enter' button in the gadgets doesn't work the same way as one of PC's.

But if I directly go to the URL of chatbox as a guest, it redirects me to the smileys page instead of a proper no permission error.

I didn't want to add several lines of code just to show nice error message to curious users. If there is no chatbox on requested page they will see that no access really means no access.

So, I have a query now ;)

I want it displayed on all pages, so I found:

"Show ChatBox on (comma separated THIS_SCRIPT locations) Blank to show on all pages (not recommended because of server load)"

I blanked it out which seems to make it appear in most places. However, it doesn't appear at the top of 'Search' pages (specifically 'New Posts') EDIT: If there are unread threads, it does appear. If there are NO unread threads, it doesn't

So then I tried disabling auto-templating, and adding it manually to the bottom of the 'navbar' template, which gave exactly the same results - displays fine on forum home / forum list / thread etc, but not on the search results screen.

Any ideas how I can get it to display on the New Posts page?

vBulletin 3.7.2 btw.

EDIT 2: I think it's due to the fact it's using the STANDARD_ERROR template to display the "no posts found" message. It's definately still calling the parse_templates hook, so there must be something in the code it doesn't like.

EDIT 3: The standard_error() function basically doesn't pass the correct information :( There goes my limited vBulletin knowledge. sniff..
