QUESTION about this product (as I really like it): We can presently disallow usergroups from the chat and we can allow usergroups to see the chat but not post to it.

What I would like to do is to be able to have usergroup that would be publicly joinable that would be the only usergroup that could see/use the chat feature.

There are a number of people on our site that simply will not want to see or use this feature and if they never joined the usergroup they wouldn't.

Is this possible? If it is I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

Right now I have it set that only staff can see/use this feature and I would like to open it to the membership but I want to offer it only to those that want to see it.

Maybe this isn't what you'd like, but there is an option to have the chat box collapsed by default.

ChatBox always collapsed by default (ChatBox Full not affected)

Select yes and those who don't want to see it....it will always be collapsed and those who do, can open it up.

Just installed this great mod. Having an issue with Internet Explorer. Whenever I go to moderate the view Chatbox Archive from the drop down menu, it crashes and says www.website.com/misc.php?do=ccarc (http://www.website.com/misc.php?do=ccarc) then operation aborted. Only happens in Internet Explorer. Opera and FF works just fine. Anybody have any ideas?

I too am experiencing this. anytime I try to go to archive with IE. I get alert box saying:
Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site
http://www.mysite.com/forumfolder/misc.php?do=ccarc
Operation Aborted.

With FF it doesn't have this problem.
I tried doing the .htaccess thing, but that did no good either.

Can it be made possible to have the chatbox show up inside a Notice?
I want to have a notice which opens on a specific day and time and have the Chatbox in there.

I have the Notice set up to open on that day and time but when I add $cybchatbox inside the Notice it only shows that text and not the Chatbox as planned...can this be done?

Great product.

I want to remove the ip address feature completely as it is viewable with permission in who's on line.

Going to cybernetec templates> cyb_archive_bit

I'd like to request a feature.

When ChatBox is embedded and a user has no permission to view or post, the ChatBox simply doesn't show. Is it possible to have a <div> in place of ChatBox that would inform such user that there is a ChatBox in existence however if one wants to use it they need to... then list the rules, for example to have minimum of x posts on the forums etc etc, basically the rules that come from ChatBox setup.

At the moment you have to manually advertise this elsewhere, it'd be good if it was automatic.

PS Also, I would love to see the message input field being flexible, i.e. to have a choice either to have it on the left of the messages or under. Not all the forums use the full width of the screen, so having it on the left only, makes messages area too narrow. I've edited mine but with new updates I'll need to do that again, so it would be cool to have an option for it in the setup.

CYP has good mods, but poor support. Seldom posts answers, or expects everyone to have coders knowlege, and is short with them.

I hope your listening/reading Cyb. I don't like to post the same questions as other users. I depend on you, seeing as this mod is "Supported" and wait until you answer the original question.

We've been waiting a long time on some of these issues/questions.

Maybe I should just start posting the same question as others have posted over and over, clogging the thread. Would that work?

You don't need to define anything in the default vB files, because they've already got it defined. In the case of forumdisplay.php:
define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'forumdisplay');

So, if you wanted to only show it in forumdisplay.php, you would add "forumdisplay" to the appropriate editbox.

this is my third post on this very problem. consider the bug replicated in XP in firefox3. its annoying, and has made me take the box off every page, seeing as how the whole site jumped up and down. very disappointing.

strangely enough, firefox3 in linux, this problem does not occur...

hi there, bit of an issue.

I have both alt.1 and alt.2 set as the same colour: white. I dont require alternating colours on my forums, it looks messy.

I love that hack however with both alt1 and 2 set to white i can't see where the chat window starts and where it ends as everything is white, so it's hard to type into.

Is there anywhere i can set the background coliur to the text entry area independently, or any way i can get at the code to maybe give it a border or something so that it actually looks liek people can type into it?

Hi, best mod on my site ever!
I have a problem though, when I set the Users with post count less than X can not view ChatBox - Set X to 50 new users and users with less than 50 post still have access to the chatbox, what can I do to fix this?

I installed this (which was nice an easy) and it was exactly what I was looking for!

However, I had to remove it instantly because it seemed to affect my adminstrator settings.

I didn't have a lot of time to see everything that it changed, but I noticed that when I had the ChatBox installed, I was no longer able to Stick/Unstick posts when creating a new post or when editing old posts.

Any idea what happened here?

Is there a Firefox fix for the bottom scroll bar at the bottom of the page? Not at the bottom of the chatbox, but at the very bottom of the page. Anytime anyone uses the [.code][./code] bbcode it throws the whole page off.

This is by far the best module I have used. Would it be possible for you to please share when you may be planning to release the next version of Cyb-chatbox. We are looking for the fix for 'Users with post count less than X can not view ChatBox - Set X' so that forum users with less than specific number of post cannot post in the Chatbox.

Is it possible to have two separate options:
(1.) Users with x number of post not allowed to view Chatbox
(2.) Users with x number of post not allowed to post messages in Chatbox

Anyway the misc.php is taking loads of server resources. I got both cybstats and cybcb installed.

Bug: About a week ago I reported that the chatbox shifted the page down & up by ~2 pixels in IE7 whenever the "refreshing messages" appeared. Several other people have confirmed this bug, but no fix has yet been posted. Well, I finally got annoyed and decided to debug it myself.

Solution: Currently, when the chatbox is about to update messages, it hides the "Refreshing Messages" text. The solution simply displays "Updating Messages" instead - you can change this to whatever text you want. I prefer to change the color of the "Refreshing Messages" instead of changing the text so I added that code to the hack. Unfortunately, the color change does not work in IE7 (so IE7 will get the text change and other browsers will get the color change) - you can change the colors to whatever you want or even remove the condition to check for non-IE browsers. So finally here's the 3-steps fix on how to squash the bug - the problem is in the Ccb_getMessages() and Ccb_updateMessages() functions in the chatbox template (surprise, surprise ....): Go to Style Manager > Edit Templates > Cybernetec Templates > cyb_chatbox, and

I still get the flicker.

Edited the Template as you advised on the Skin I am using and did a replace and saved.
Refreshed the Forum page and still the same movement.

I reset the template back to how it was and then tried option2 to increase the text area, but still the movement :(

Well it installed for me and it works in Firefox. But in IE I can only input but not see any content of the chatbox... any ideas why that could happen?
Honestly I tried this Chatbox only 'cause the other one I had installed for quite some time did not work in IE at all anymore - it showed up but did not work in IE just sais "loading" same here.. in IE it says loading... but there is nothing displayed even with your chatbox I have the chance to shout with IE even I can not see what I shout.

Coud this be something that has to do with the Updates of vBulletin and a file used by chatboxes?

i did both steps, but not the optional 3rd step. i will try it in a few, and see if my mac users notice anything different.

your code fixed the pulsing for me in xp (fx3 and ie7). it never did it in ubuntu at all (fx3).

my user is having trouble in fx3, using mac osx.

Glad it worked - thought it would. Actually, the JS behavior in mac firefox is actually what should happen if you don't do the 3rd fix step. I'm surprised that FX2/3 in Windows XP does not respond the same, considering it's from the same maker. Anyways, thanks for confirming - I'll update my first post for this fix to state the the 3rd step is required and not optional.

I'm using ibProArcade and I would like to put the chat box on the arcade.php page.
Can you help me to figure out how to edit the template to do this.

If you want an under over configuration for your forum, I have modified the product and uploaded it to my site.

I've had to hard code the message entry background color due to my forum style. If you use this modified version and want to change the color, find this entry:

background-color:#000000

Replace #000000 with a hex code that suits your style, or you can replace that with the actual style code.

The Chatbox Archieve (misc.php?do=ccarc) is XSS vulnerable. Here are the lines you have to edit:

Line 485 must be like this: $cybcb_search_value = htmlspecialchars($vbphrase['cybcb_search_chatbox']);

Line 487 must be like this: $cybcb_targettext = htmlspecialchars($vbulletin->GPC['cbt']);

Line 491 must be like this: $cybcb_search_value = htmlspecialchars($cybcb_targettext);

Maybe in the next version, you guys will include this fix. :)

I updated to vB 3.7.2 PL2, updated Chat to 2.2 and now I have this error when the chat is refreshed or someone tried to post in it.

I tried doing this and it made my chat freeze on Loading.

FYI I've tested this on default vB style in the following configurations:

- XP - IE7
- XP - Opera
- XP - Firefox 3
- Mac - Firefox 3
- Mac - Safari

And it worked fine, which means status bar is loading with no problems/page shifting.

To those who wish add this hack to vBAdvanced.

It doesn't work if vBAdvanced directory if different from forum's directory. You can fix it by yuorself, changing product code : all paths to misc.php replace with absolute path ( something like http://www.yourforum.com/forums/misc.php ) .

Same You need to do in adminCP settings for new/old buttons

Maybe Cyb can add this into parms ? And FavoriteSmilies too... :)

* user selectable layout (column or row style)
* display "[mod]" next to users in chat box moderation group
* mod unique font color
* admin channel support (this one will be tough, maybe unfeasible).

I will provide the code to Cyb so hopefully he can take a look at the mods and see if he wants to bundle those into a next release.

I guess I'm looking over something simple here...

Instead of the chatbox displaying at the top of all of the forums, I want them at the bottom.

I went into FORUMHOME and put in $cybchatbox where I want it to show up. Now, it shows up, but it still shows up at the top as well. The bottom one constantly says "Loading...", and the top one loads in the messages properly.

I appreciate the help :)

I'm unsure of a few items which I would probably know if I were more advanced in my Admin skills. But, I've looked through all the questions and I can't find the answers so I'll ask them just in case anyone can help.

1) Is there anyway to place a SUBMIT or ENTER next to the submit button or...right on it?
I know someone said they had a way to replace the button but the link did not work.
2) Is it possible to send personal message or private messages while in the chat room or can
everyone on the board see the messages?
3) On the version I've installed, you can't see who's in the chatroom until someone starts to
write. Is that the same for everyone else? Or, is there something I can change on the Admin CP
so that users can see who is viewing the room even if they are not writing anything?
4) I finally understand the Chat Room Full means "viewing the chat room in full size" and not
that the chat room is full (D-U-H). I still would like to change the wording on the Nav-Bar so if
anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I'm nominating this because I think it's a great add on feature. If you ever add personal rooms as a part of this chat, please let me know. That would be awesome!

I must admit, this hack has come a long ways. I remember installing it a while back. At the time it caused my system to run extremely slow so I had to uninstall it.

There seems to be a huge update since then and I must say, I am impressed with it's improvements.

I think is many letters or numbers, day, mounth and year , i think just day and mounth, and for time don't works ok without seconds xD :D is all. Or replace Date for Today if was posted today not with date, and others days for date :D is a good idea, too can create commands like prune :) and ban user :).

How many messages do you have? I found that when we reached 45,000 messages in the chatbox, I had to roll (truncate) the database. You can do that through the chatbox admin drop down. Did you also try the tweaks in the admincp?

I wouldn't recommend doing this. First, it encourages spamming and it will reduce the amount of posts you will get in the forums.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned (or if it's available as a function. I cannot see one) but I would like to see in a future release the ability to ban a user from the chatbox and they can only get back into the chatbox after they post more inside the actual forums! This of course is only aimed at users who only stay in the chatbox and do not contribute to the community. If you force them in this way they could see that the main forums are not that bad and contribute regularly. Just an idea.

I got this problem where the chat box is putting in an extra / on misc.php and IE will error if you click on a folder next to a username but works on firefox and I can't seem to find it in the code. It worked on version 2.2 after uprgrading to 2.3 yday this problem happened. Uninstalled it and put 2.2 back on and then the problem for internet explorer users was still there..

Quite the excellent modification Cybernetec. And within expected parameters. Ajax is very nicely integrated.

However, the Phrase "Ask your questions in the forums. The ChatBox is for small talk"
has to be edited through the phase manager.

It would be nice for to be able to edit that particular content with the admin options. As in not to have it as a phrase, but just regular text within a template. html and BBcode enabled.

I've found the solution to my problem and it wasn't within Cyb Chatbox. I disabled all my plugins and setup a new style, enabling and disabling each plugin until I found the source of my problem. That kinda problem is usually within template edits. For me, my image resizer was the source of the problem.

go to styles&templates>edit **your style** >open template "cyb_chatbox"

replace all misc.php with $vboptions[bburl]/misc.php?

use search function you will need it theres like 25 edits.

your box will display however new_post.gif will show a red cross thats because the settings in admincp under chatbox point to

images/statusicon/post_new.gif
images/statusicon/post_old.gif

changing the path will stop showing them in the forums, to solve that just make an image folder wherever you cmps_index.php file is or in the folder where your cmps_index file is or whatever you named that file.

note:with this fix it will also enable any page now where u add $cybchatbox
arcade.php, all_albums.php, albums.php etc....

I'm having an issue. The "new and old" post images will not load for anyone. I've uploaded new images, I have the filepath correct...no dice. Also, I tried erasing the images all together and having no image in the chat...no luck either. Any help?

Is there anyway to get it so that people have to post a certain amount per day before they can use the chat? Like set to 3 posts a day or something like that. Alot of users come by and chat for 20 min and leave without posting, i think it would be a cool feature

This hack working properly in English language, but not working Turkish language. I try wrote a message displaying this message:

Resolved. Delete language, and reinstall it.

ChatBox is there to keep forums clean. Now you want three posts to access ChatBox, which will give you a bunch of spam posts, I believe. Then what's the point of having ChatBox?
