Paul I have 1.0. Should I uninstall first or should I wait for your next update then uninstall and update? I think from what I read you already addressed all the 3.7.0 bug issues right?

A good suggestion / idea to this hack would be: Let the support Tickets goto a forum (so the mods and administrators) get notified. X (Forum ID) the tickets get placed in.

I strongly suggest uninstalling and updating to the latest version.
KeyStalker, this is already an implemented feature. You can define a Forum ID in the AdminCP settings.
Thanks, Paul.

Beta 6 Just Released!
This is going to be the final Beta for HelpCenter, from now it is just going to be bug fixes, if any.
I'm sorry, but for the final time, you are going to have to uninstall any previous version and re-install with Beta 6.
Thanks, Paul.

Reuploaded all files. Uninstall plugin, reinstall plugin. 2 problems...
1. HelpCenter Main settings appear under the left menu option "HelpCenter" as well as under VBulletin Options. Should it not be only in 1 place to avoid confusion?
2. Under HelpCenter Statistics Help Center Statistics Version is showing as 1.0 Beta 5

Most modifications are like this, HelpCenter is no different.
2. Under HelpCenter Statistics Help Center Statistics Version is showing as 1.0 Beta 5.
Thanks for pointing this out, I will fix this for next release.
Notifications are going to be a paid feature.
Thanks, Paul.

This looks as a great mod, even better then another alike mod I found here.
I've tagged it for now, but I'm sure I will install it when a stable release version is brought out.
My forums have a lot of mods and I can't have bugs at te moment or at least if possible.:)
But it already looks great!

the ticketview field is a new field in the ticket table, sounds like you havent uninstalled 1.5 before you installed 1.6.

If you're talking about the "ABC1" Ticket ID on helpcenter home, then the colour is defined by your style's CSS. ADMIN CP > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Main CSS > Body > Normal Links CSS/Visited Links CSS > Font Color.
EDIT: If you're talking about on an actual ticket, where it says Ticket ID: ABC1 then; ADMIN CP > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Main CSS > Small Font > Font Color.

What text could I insert under HelpCenter Main Settings for the Automatic Template edit if I wanted to include this within the quicklinks?

1 - When I go to helpcenter statistics it says its beta 5.
2 - Can I make the width of the navigation wider?
3 - When managing departments there is not a field for inserting a forumid. I would prefer to have it there rather than in the main settings.
I am using vb version 3.7.0 Gold
This is a fresh install done about an hour ago.
Suggestions:
1 - Replies made to the ticket should also post on the thread posted within the forum specified.
2 - A thread prefix should be created with the thread automatically. Should say Open/Closed or Open/Solved.
3 - An area for sensitive data should be submitted. When posted by the user this data should only be seen by the admin. This is very important. Some sites have online stores where issues with payment could arise...requiring credit card info. Many other examples too.

I took a look at it and it says width=100%.
I don't see where I need to adjust it. I'd like to make it the same width as the navigation on usercp.
It's not a big deal, but I'd appreciate anyone's help with it.

I have downloaded the latest package on this page and am being told after clicking on the HelpCenter link up on the nav bar, that this is beta 5. Same thing for the help page. However, it says beta 6 in products management, so I think I have the latest? I'm running the final release of vB 3.7 and I am not seeing anywhere to manage this system other than a few options in the usergroups and the main settings under vBoptions. I heard there should be a new section on the side panel in admincp... I don't see it. Paul, help me out here? Thanks

The lite' version is not going to receive any more major features. We hope to move it to the release candidate stage, where only trivia bugs will be made.
Vinny445, that was missed off. We forgot to update the version number. Be assured that you are running the latest version. Will be fixed for next release ;)

I forgot to adjust permissions for each usergroup.
See if that's the same issue in your case.

I am going to throw this out there once and leave it at that. I have purchased a number of mods now. Each one of them has been a nightmare of beta hell. I don't relish a continuance of debugging for someone after forking over a chunk of money. Mind you I really think it is worth paying someone for the enormous amount of time they put into the coding efforts on these projects but only if they are finialized and the rest is simple upgrades. That has not been the case with anything I have seen yet. It has been a bugApalooza farm that is never ending that is creature feature requsted one after another that causes it thus sending the mod into an over work load of horror.
I like this mod a lot is the reason for all the concerns.
With that said how much do you project the full version to be and with what features that aren't already in it and with what guarantees. I have two paid mods that the support sites don't exist now.
Jase2

Not every organization is the same. There will be a lot of new features for the paid version. We will be supporting all products we release.

I was wondering, how do you set who post the thread when someone makes a support ticket?
This is automatically set by whoever creates the ticket. For example if you were registered as Virtualshiner and created a ticket, it would be your username that appeared. If it was me PaulSonny would appear.
What text could I insert under HelpCenter Main Settings for the Automatic Template edit if I wanted to include this within the quicklinks?
At the moment i'm not sure, I will look into it and get back to you.
1 - When I go to helpcenter statistics it says its beta 5.
2 - Can I make the width of the navigation wider?
3 - When managing departments there is not a field for inserting a forumid. I would prefer to have it there rather than in the main settings.

The Beta 5 issue has been identified and has been sorted for the next release.
With regards to the navigation, i'm not sure. I will check this out and get back to you.
Posting in multiple forums is going to be a paid feature. The Lite version only allows you to create tickets in one forum. Sorry for any inconvience.
Replies to a ticket should automatically insert into the thread. There is already a thread prefix which is the department title. I will look into allowing multiple thread prefixes in the admincp for the paid version. Sensitive Data issue has been mentioned previously and is going to be a paid feature.
When do you plan on releasing the pro version?
A definite date has not yet been set. We aiming for 2 weeks, but please...please do not take this as gospel.

I completely understand what you mean, as I myself have been in the same situation with regards to purchasing mods and then the original site disappear.
At this stage, I think myself and Jase have shown that we are dedicated to this project, if you disagree then please let us know what more we can do and we'll try our best. We have been fixing bugs quickly and promptly and supporting this modification. Almost all the bugs that have been brought to our attention have been fixed.
At this stage we can not project the cost nor the features of the pro version.
Thanks, Paul.

Where it lists the tickets - the background is showing as black so therefore you cannot see the actual ticket details. What template is it to alter the colours?

See my attachment on the previous page?
Where you see the priority word - this means there is a ticket there, behind the black line! But the only way you know there is a ticket there is because you see the priority word. You don't see the ticket number, title, who submitted it etc, because its hidden by the blackness. I need to know how to change that black to something like white so I can actually see there is a ticket there.

Fine Jase. Don't acuse people of being cocky after you have been a rather rude person to them and they didn't do anything but ask a valid question you took offense to and then give feedback about a support link being down that you evidently didn't like the manner it which it was given. That shows lack of customer service representation and it sure shows up front the type of support you intend on giving when the going gets tough later. I hate seeing a good mod/thread busted with junk like this so back off and allow me to participate in the manner I should have been afforded to start with minus your attitude kind sir.

Just to bring everyone into the picture. I have had problems with my hosting and it seems they have had their account suspended so I have no alternative but to find another hosting company, which I have done.
The site PaulSonny.com is now back up, but things are not like they were before and it will take me a day or two to get myself back up and running properly.
I hope everyone is patient enough and any members who previously registered before would like to re-register I would be very grateful.

I dont think I quite understand what you mean, can you elaborate?
Well cmms stands for "computerized maintenance management software". Lets say you had departments for buildings or different processes in a manufacturing facility. Then say you had different forums for each department. Then you had a prefix for each piece of equipment in that department. You could use helpcenter to create a work order for a specified piece of equipment within a department. The next evolution would be Scheduled maintenance (preventative maintenance) where you create some of the tickets (work orders) by cron. Then some graphs would be a nice touch. If you are planning to make money at this mod I would like to say a cmms would be very valuable.
Or it could be an AMS "asset management system" which is pretty much the same as an cmms.

Uploaded new package which will fix the above issue, sorry about that. I added a new field and stupidly forgot to add it to the installation code of the product.
Anyway should be fixed now.
Uninstall & Reinstall.

Hi Paul, great to have mod back :)
Ive just installed the new product however I have a problem!
When I create new departements, they remain closed. Ive updated them to be open but this dosent seem to make any difference.
Edit -
Ive added an attachment - Where abouts do I need to look to edit the CSS for the "Ticket ID" and "Posted By" - At the moment there the same colour as the backgroud so only show up when you put your mouse over them.
The other question is regarding the "Admin" link on the left hand side, should there be anything underneath that?

I have fixed the department error, I had mis-typed the word status in the admin file so it wasnt finding the value from the form correctly.
With regards to the CSS, if you look in the hcenter_ticketlist template each <td> tag will have a class, just remove that class.
Thanks, Paul.

Brillaint.
Now its in RC stage do we still need to uninstall and then install or can we just upload and overwrite now?
It fixed the error, but now when I make departments, it isn't showing in the "Add new Ticket" area.

With regards to the CSS, if you look in the hcenter_ticketlist template each <td> tag will have a class, just remove that class.
Ive had a look, but the only CSS I can see relates to the actual headings, not for the information underneath.
I need to alter the CSS for the username that posts and also for the generated ticket ID.
PaulSonny

You should be able to just overwrite now.
I have just tested adding a new department and testing whether it appears in the Drop Down Menu on the Add New Ticket form and it does.
Make sure you have set the permissions to add a new ticket, and also make sure the Department itself is not closed?
Thanks, Paul.

Ive tried editing the bit in bold, but it dosent seem to make any difference.
<tr>
<td class="smallfont" align="center"><a href="helpcenter.php?$session[sessionurl]do=ticket&tid=$ticket[ticketid]">$ticketid</a></td>
<td class="$bgclass" align="center"><b>$ticket[tickettitle]</b></td>

<td class="$bgclass" align="center"><phrase 1="$ticket[datelastupdate]" 2="$ticket[lastreplyusername]" 3="$ticket[lastreplyuserid]"

Im sorry for the need to lose all settings but its because while it was in Beta I was adding new fields to the tables and upgrading for some reason wasnt adding the new fields to the existing DB.

Jase2,
Your not going to get the market for ppl to pay for this type of mod, they would simply go for Joomla that has the bridge for VB and use the ticket system which already has some of the features you might be working on for the this so called "Pay version" Druple also has a bridge for VB as well and a ticket system... In fact most CMS have some sort of ticket system/bridging options for VB
On top of this customers already pay for VB as it is, what would make customers want to pay for your ticket system mod? when you can get a FREE CMS that already has a ticket system in it and more then likely a much more advance system for FREE?

I'm not looking to get into any arguments over this so this will be my final reply on the matter.
At the end of the day, alot and I mean alot of effort goes into these types of modifications both coding and support.
We are not pulling the plug on anything, where have you got this assumption from? We have been honest and clear from the start as to what our intentions will be.
We are not requiring anyone to pay for this modification, it is based basically upon choice, you either want to, or you dont, and can you please provide me with a link to a post/comment where I have begged for people to PAY?
Some of the features in the pro version of HelpCenter you might/might not find in other support ticket systems. To be honest I dont care what features others have, this is mine and Jase2's modification and we will put into it what we think it needs, as we already have put alot of the suggestions people have mentioned, more than we should have!
AND finally, I dont appreciate you accusing me of deception and trying to deceive people, like I have said above, myself and Jase2 have been clear from the start about what our intentions are.
How can moderators reply to posts in the help center since they dont have access to the admin cp?
^ In the "HelpCenter Permissions" category I set all moderators permissions to "yes" but they still can't view it.
You have to give moderators the permission to manage all tickets, are you having problems with other usergroups and their permissions?

Sorry, I just had to comment on this. FYI, the lite version is so users could get a feel of what the basics of HelpCenter is about. In the paid version, there is going to be even more features, with the same great support!
Really, have we begged users to pay? I don't think so. Get your act right before you start jumping to conclusions. vBulletin had a lite version... hmmm, but you still paid for vBulletin paid ? Yes!
I don't mind answering questions, but when someone doesn't think before they ask or accuse, then I really cannot be bothered with them. Good bye!

As much as I would love to be a coder, its never going to happen. Some people have it and others dont.
I can tell that a lot of time and effort has gone into this mod and the support offered is second to none.
Im more then happy to pay for the premium version when it comes out. If it keeps Paul and Jase rolling out top quality mods like this then that cant be a bad thing.
Ive been after a support mod for a long time, and had to settle on a php script that looks clumsy and takes members away from the forum. Having eveything in one place like this mod does is great.
Plus, you dont have to buy the premium product, all the features you need for a basich help desk are included in the lite version.
Sorry to jump in on an argument thats nothing to do with me, it just winds me up when people complain about having to buy a full version. I own a car, however I dont expect Fiat to do the services and supply all the extras for free.

Some suggestions for future releases, if not already implemented or mentioned:
1) A pull-down textbox on the ticket response screeen with "Close this ticket" (and other variables) so that the ticket can be closed upon responding.
2) reCAPTCHA field for certain usergroups (unregistered, awaiting email confirmation, etc) when submitting a ticket. Deters spam, obviously.
3) Perhaps some aesthetic designs or graphics. Not essential, but might make things look spiffy.
This is a very good and professional mod. Thanks for all the hard work I know you put into it.

Good bye!
Well said, I couldnt of put it better myself!
Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
thanks for your reply
i understand now
bec i make the ticket via username
and enter as guest and see my ticket
so if there r many users have the same ip (shared internet)
so they will see ticket of each other
and no privacy
so please can you change this
and make it via username only not by ip
I agree this is an error, I will fix for RC2.
1) You can already close a ticket from the Ticket Options menu with the correct Usergroup Settings.
2) This has already been suggested and Jase is implementing into the paid version.
3) Can you please confirm what you mean? Graphics for where?
Thanks, Paul.

Just to say thanks once again Paul for sorting that problem out for me. Ive finally been able to get rid of that horrid support system I was previously using and put this one live on the forum :)
Ive had problems with a few mods in the past, some free and some paid and the support didnt come close to what you have offered. Thank you once again :)
Ive also got a couple of suggestions for maybe a furture version. When you have it set to create a thread when a ticket has been created, maybe have a link in that thread that will take you straight to the ticket in question.
The other suggestion relates to unregistered members creating tickets. Im presuming one of the main reasons they will create a ticket is because:
1. They are having problems registering or
2. They have been banned.
Maybe an option for them to enter an email address rather then basing it on their ip. They can then either log into the help center using their email address or have the reply emailed to their email account.
Keep up the good work guys.

It might be my first post however if you have seen how long I've been registered for and the fact I'm still a paying customer for VB so my opinion on this still counts right? no matter how many posts someone makes right?...
And the fact i asked some important questions there mate which I'm sure others like to know the answers to if they going to choose a payed mod over a free one...
So lets try this again shale we?
What makes yours different from any other FREE ticket system out there that might have better features?
Bottom line is here you start off something given away for free that's fair enough but then later down the track you pull the plug basically begging for ppl to PAY for something extra that they might want which by all accounts would be a normal feature in any Ticket system how have totally missed the plot here?... Don't you think this a bit hash?.... I know I'm finding it hard to swallow this deception.
Regards
Cheyne
I kind of feel like now that I am on the team, I need to say something here.
1. Support - You talk about these free mods. What would you do if the mod is not supported. I use Joomla on my site and I have yet to find a mod like this that is supported. And if I did find one, it probably isn't as supported as much as our mods. I am personally not a regular coder on this mod, but I am a member of the Development team. I even chime in and answer questions and such. That alone shows that we do offer top notch support. And when we release MyCart, We will show that mod just as much support.
2. Integration - You talk about bridges. There are some bridges out there. Joomla has one, but for most people, it takes hiring someone to get it installed. Even then you have to worry about that mod being supported. If it is not supported then there is a good chance that there are bugs and holes in it. You also have to think about upgrades. If you use Joomla, then you know that 1.0 is a bit different then 1.5. Most of the mods that work on 1.0, don't work on 1.5 and even some of them that do work, are screwed up. Again, I use Joomla, and personally, if I had the time to go through and import that database into vbadvanced and vbulletin, I would. Joomla is sloppy in my opinion, and most of the mods made for it are sloppy as well. Now wouldn't you rather have a mod that is so easy to install and set up, that you do not need to hire someone to do it for you. Even then, if you do need help, we have great support. Also on a smaller note, if you install a whole cms then you have to worry about styling. If you get our mod, then the styling is already done for you. No need to look into getting a skin for the cms you only got because you needed a support ticket system.
Another thing to look at it users. If you get a cms for the support system and you dont want to hire someone to bridge it with vB, then you have to worry about two sets of user tables. Because personally, I don't like spam, and if you don't require registration, then you will probably get alot of unneeded tickets. Our mod uses the already established vBulletin user table.
So if you look at this, If a complete noob, that knows nothing about skinning, or doing anything with any system other then vbulletin, comes here and needs a Support Ticket system or a shopping cart, then its probably going to be cheaper to just buy our mod.
On a last note, because I can't think of anything else to say really, All this will go for MyCart also.

No one is implying that you are being forced to pay, but I think we're disappointed that a modification with such potential is this has features reserved for those who pay.
Take ibPro Arcade, for example - no paid version. I guess it could be argued that the support takes time, but money won't buy time, and there is the option to leave a hack unsupported, as well as a donation option, which I know is used.

It all boils down to support. Project tools is not going to support it's product as a support ticket system.
HelpCenter will be supported and catered as a support ticket system.
It makes all the difference in the world.

At the minute no.
In RC2 I am planning to add a queries page which will allow you to execute varies queries, such as making all tickets private. Others will include all tickets closed. All tickets open.
Thanks, Paul.

I'm afraid im not removing the option to remove the Public/Private option as this was already a request.
Another way round it would to be disable the view of Public Tickets and then it wouldn't really matter.

Paul FYI
for those who use vBSEO
to use these settings will seo it all just add it to your current "Custom Rewrite Rules"'^helpcenter\.php$' => 'support/'
'^helpcenter\.php\?do=(\w+)$' => 'support/$1'
//'helpcenter\.php\?do=ticket&tid=(.+)' => 'support/ticket/$1'

Really good system Paul. I checked the code and installed this morning. I am really impressed.
Some feature requests :
When users who donot have privilidge to view , create any ticket shall face a warning message that they need to purchase subscriptions to access ticket system.
Tie this system with notices so that when there are unsolved tickets or ticket awaiting replies notices will give warning for staff.

This is not a bug. It is incase you want guests to be able to use the support ticket system to report registration or log in problems.
In RC2 I am implementing another usergroup option "Can View Helpcenter" which will allow you to specify which usergroups can or can not view the helpcenter.

Your first request you can implement yourself, just edit the phrase via your AdminCP.
Your second request has already been mentioned and is being considered.

Thanks for your comments Hobaz.
It sounds to me like you are using a custom Navbar template and it cant find "$template_hook[navbar_buttons_left]" in the template so it cant install the Automatic Template Edit.
In your navbar template, find where you want to place the HelpCenter link and paste the following:
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="helpcenter.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[helpcenter]</a></td>
Any further problems send me login details and I will login and check it over for you.
Thanks, Paul.

does this new version have the ability to direct tickets to different sub forums?
Aka tickets submitted to the games department go to the games department staff forum and tickets submitted to the forum department go to the forums mods staff forum.
point being forum mods should not see game issues as their might be private information supplied thus causing legal issues?

Thanks, Paul.
I see sorry I was confused. :D

Hey I have a quick question.
I have updated to the gold release and I am getting the following error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T-String in <blah blah> /forum/admincp/plugin.php(1977) : eval()'d code.
It also says: (Powered By HelpCenter Version 1.0 Release Candidate 1) at the bottom of my Gold release install. Any ideas?
I did a fresh install. I deleted all old .PHP files and uninstalled the product and tried to do a clean install but no go.
I also had a quick question about the noticfication feature. Is there a way to let admins know there is a Help Desk ticket like there was in previous releases?
Thank you so much in advance! I really appreciate it!

Installed perfectly, I haven't tested it out yet but doubt there will be any problems. Thanks for providing this to the vB community, it's a much needed utility that really should come standard with vB.

1.This has been fixed, was due to incorrect SQL syntax.
2.Also fixed, so you can download a new Package and install.
3.It didnt quite work before, and with the new notification system thats going to be in the Pro Version there wont be a notification system in Lite.

I think we can add the department, and status. Just need to make sure it doesn't stretch the border. What would the drop down menus be for, though? (I think that is what you're implying).
And there will be a search engine for the PRO version.

What I think he means is that if you click the top it will group everything together. For example if you click the States button all the Private would come first and then the Public.
I'm not sure but that might be what he's asking.

I get that error and im the owner of my board i have edit'd my usergroup to allow me to use the system and im still getting that error. Also the navbar edit is not working
Aaron217, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Uninstall and reinstall and see if it works. As for the template edit, you may have to change the code that the auto edit searches for. You may have deleted the code that it searches for by default. What is your site.

Installed.
Few questions.
1) New version still has RC 1 on the url link footer tag.
2) How do I assign Staff to only have access to specific Departments?
I want Super Admins to handle all Departments, Admins & Super Moderators to handle specific assigned departments ect....
There needs to be a pop up notification for Super Admins, Admins, Super Moderators of new tickets opened or replyed to. also an email for each open, reply, close event sent to the webmaster email address.

I get that error and im the owner of my board i have edited my usergroup to allow me to use the system and im still getting that error. Also the navbar edit is not working:
I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling, can you confirm whether you had a previous version of HelpCenter installed?
The navbar edit may not be working because it cant find the search text, check your Main Settings and provide an alternative search criteria.

The ticketview problem was solved in a previous release, I wonder if the upgrade hasnt worked correctly, could you please download the latest package, uninstall the product and then install as new and overwrite all files.
See if this corrects your problem.

Have you customised any of the templates? if so can you revert them and this should fix the RC1 issue.
Departments dont have usergroup permissions.
Notifications are going to be a Pro Version feature.

Paul I have a simple request to the unpaid version I am just testing right now. Can there be a auto prefix like responded from {username}? This way it helps to know if you are needing to look at the response, this of course works for the usergroup staff as well as the user. Also have it state it is open kinda like a prefix [OPEN] or [CLOSED]? Or is this stuff in the Pro?
Also the only problem I am having with the links in the navigation as well as admin links in the help center, this is when you go to click on it the wording disappears but you can click to create or so still. I can't seem to find how to change it. I can give you access if needed to look at what I am saying on this.
Also I am wondering if the pro version is ready and how much?

When you view the My Tickets, Open Tickets or Closed Tickets one of the columns tells you when it was last updated and who by. for example Today by PaulSonny.
In the My Tickets it shows open or closed tickets in seperate tables, then Open Tickets links displays all open tickets. and then Closed Tickets links display all closed tickets.
Your other problem has been known before, and it seems to be something to do with the styles. If you can send me an admin login and your site I will login and correct it.
Pro version is in development, not an official release yet and no definite price.
Thanks, Paul.

Well the help center is only being tested right now on my test vb so altering it would only help that unless I can just move the files from the test to the live site. Or you can tell me how to and what to alter? I can give you access to the test forum if still neded just let me know.

Paul or Jase,
I just upgraded to gold and was wondering if the settings were automatically saved from one version to another?
I looked at my settings and they looked like they had been kept the same, but I just want to make sure that I did install it correctly.
Thanks.
---edit---
After looking at the above post about uninstalling before upgrading I realized that I did not do that.
I have not gotten an error thus far, and I can see that the branding is now saying 1.0 gold. Should I still uninstall and then reinstall?
Thanks.

It should just say: (Powered By HelpCenter Version 1.0)
However, I don't think Paul updated the product file. So, I have posted the product in post #482. There is no need to uninstall then re-install - you can just overwrite, providing you get no errors.
