Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
That happens on every page with this enabled. What do I do?

Couldn't wait for you to release it Jeff :)
This add on is the only reason for me NOT to upgrade to 3.8 series so far. I'm glad you finally decide to release 3.8 version soon! :) Kudos & many thanks!!!

Note: vbulletin will have by default a rewrite system from version 4.0 (beta should coming next month, april). I relly suggest you to wait, and not use this product. If the vb's rewrite will be great, i will no more update this product.

Precisely. I am using it on the following forums.
http://forum.theparacast.com
http://forum.techbroadcasting.com
http://forum.rockoids.com
The first is our most active. I saw no change in performance or compatibility with TFSEO 2.1 when I went to 3.8. As you can see from the footers, they're at 3.8.2 now.

Hey guys,
I searched the thread, but I couldn't find anything referencing my problem about linking to specific posts (or going to "last post") which doesn't work on my forum and is a huge hassle for really large threads for members to navigate/follow. For example:
http://forums.interbasket.net/f18/anybody-else-having-problems-8576/post284224.html
I am running TfSEO 1.1.4 (Light URL-Rewrite with other little SEO customization) - Any help would be appreciated.

The site is http://www.xbattles.net. Every one of my articles in vBdynamics, has had its URL permanently re-written. I cant even access the article categories. I have completely uninstalled the hack and overwritten the supplied htaccess file with my original, and still no change to the URL's on my articles section.
As it stands I can not access any article I have written in the life of the articles section.
Sorry for the sour tone of my last post, but imagine my frustration when I realized I could not access the heart and soul of my site.
I posted this long ago, and am still awaiting some kind of response. SuperJeff, is there a way for me to fix this issue or not?

Are you sure that url rewrite is added as a module in your php file and that url rewrite work?
Did you do a test to ensure that url rewrite is working?
I mean he's tool work fine for me, so for it to not work for you, there must be something?
What version of php are you using?
Can you do a test of a simple url rewrite?
djlotus
07-27-2009, 04:53 PM
I had this installed as per directions. I had a conflict with vBdynamics so I uninstalled the mod as per directions. Non of the URL's changed. They all are still rewritten as they were by this mod. Do you suggest I reinstall this mod and try again? Did I maybe miss something on the uninstall?
NeDra
07-27-2009, 05:05 PM
No idea, but what I mean is if url rewrite is installed create a new rule that redirect
http://www.mysite.com/urlrewrite/index.html
to
http://www.mysite.com/index.html
just to test that the url rewrite mod actually work.
If it doesn't work, it just obvious that having all your url modified with this tool will make your forum unaccessible.
Options +Indexes
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^urlrewrite/index.html$ /index.html
Just a simple test to make sure that the url rewrite work, if it does work, please confirm what option do you use inside the tool?
If it doesn't work, I can't really help you, google is your friend and get it to work.
As soon as it work, you can give it a shot and retry this addon.

My forum is accessible. The articles that were posted while having this mod installed have become inaccessible after having this mod uninstalled. The url's to the articles did not default back to original after mod was installed. I am inquiring if the author of the mod or anyone else can advise me on how to fix the issue, if in fact, it is fixable.
NeDra
07-27-2009, 05:33 PM
oh, now I understand the issue hum >.<
Talk about an issue... I though you wanted to use this mod instead.
Try to install the mod but to disactivate it for it to not be working, see if it will do a quick fix.
If that doesn't help, you will need to look inside the code to figure it out...
You don't have backup of the code I guess...
djlotus
07-27-2009, 05:37 PM
Back up of which code?
I have reinstalled vBulletin, vBadvanced, and vBdynamics, and it did not help. I still have my original downloaded version of this mod, just not uploaded on my server.

I have active licence, but I don't think to use vb4.
I am using tfseo heavy mode on vb 3.7.3, but I don't have a sitemap system.
Vbseo sitemap generator is not working with tfseo. Vbseo sitemap generator is creating sitemap which includes old style URLs like showthread.php and forumdisplay.php. Nevertheless, I am very happy about tfseo.

Hi, i have been using TfSEO 2.1 for quite some time now, and it did the job for me :)
Now that I am testing the Beta 3 version I am wondering what my options are and especially which is the best considering SEO.
I have a lot of pages well indexed in google, when I switch to vbulletin 4.0 I will lose a lot of visitors.
Question 1:
I don't know what's better, TfSEO 2.1 of the one vbulletin provides(what's the difference?). Since you're considering making a version for 4.0 explain me what's it you can offer that vbulletin 4.0 does not have?
Question 2:
Is there a way to maintain my links and use the "Mod Rewrite Friendly URLs" from vbulletin?
It's quite an frustrating situation, just don't know what's best to do and how to do it.. Any help would be more then welcome! :)

Easy: take the htaccess of the tfseo plugin, put it above the htaccess rules of the vb4 system.
Example .htaccess file::
--TFSEO RULES
--VB 4 RULES
#end

I decided to not more to vb4 because of this plugin
All the old link would become invalid, thus loosing traffic.
I personally couldn't afford such a thing, all the google search result becoming invalid etc...
All the link from other forum to my forum becoming invalid, etc...
was waiting for people to post result // issue with this plugin on vb4.
I personally would like it, but i though that this plugin wasn't required since there was a build in feature.
I even fixed bug in this plugin related to search and highlight text from search not working with the url-rewrite...
Not sure how you can expect to upgrade it to vb4 and keep it fully working...
Unless you have a lot of free time
You could either upgrade the plugin to vb4
Or post the format of vb4 url-rewrite, so that we can do some redirect of your plugin to the vb4 url rewrite...
And use the vb4 url rewrite without old link to become invalid...
Or a mix of them, anyway, I am looking forward to any solution out there since i paid for vb4 and haven't upgraded yet.

Me to, the TFSEO urls were a pain in my but. I finaly managed to redirect mosts urls to the correct topic.. but google still index the old urls :(
I think when i remove the rewrite rules it will be ok, but still i will lose a lot of visitors.

@ everyone about a compatible htaccess to upgrade to vb4 without losing google indexed pages:
I't reeeealy easy, use this htaccess:
RewriteEngine on
#First of all, the tfSEO rewrite rules:
#tfseo start here
RewriteRule ^(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)newpost(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$2&goto=newpost [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)/post([0-9]+)(.*)$ showpost.php?p=$6 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)/([a-z]+)([0-9]+)(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$4&page=$7 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$4 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f([0-9]+)/([a-z]+)([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$2&page=$4 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^f([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)-f([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$2 [QSA,L]
#tfseo ends here
#than what follows is the standart vbulletin 4 .htaccess file:
# If you are having problems or are using VirtualDocumentRoot, uncomment this line and set it to your vBulletin directory.
# RewriteBase /forum/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -s [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -l [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^.*$ - [NC,L]
# Forum
RewriteRule ^threads/.* showthread.php [QSA]
RewriteRule ^forums/.* forumdisplay.php [QSA]
RewriteRule ^members/.* member.php [QSA]
RewriteRule ^blogs/.* blog.php [QSA]
ReWriteRule ^entries/.* entry.php [QSA]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -s [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -l [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^.*$ - [NC,L]
# MVC
RewriteRule ^(?:(.*?)(?:/|$))(.*|$)$ $1.php?r=$2 [QSA]
Make sure that old urls are redirected on new ones, and you are done.
Easy, isn't?
--ah.. anyway i'm "superjeff", just with another account.

No, there are major code changes between vb3 & vb4 and it would be pure luck on your part if this mod did function even minimally on vb4. Anyways if all you're concerned with is FURLS (friendly urls), then either check out my article or vbseo to get that functionality (Look in sig).
