Your work is easy: tfseo intagrate a powerfull 301 redirect, that copy the htacecss of tfseo over your rules. You shulden't get problem, but try first in local.

These are some premade structure for your urls. Choose your best, and remember that you can do a your simple editing the ./includes/functions_tfseo_type file.

*Use the this HTACCESS, and set the url type to medium.

Make sure the mod is enabled in both the Options and under Plugin Manager... For some odd reason the plugin was disabled in Plugin Manager when I installed it.

However, if I use "Heavy Method" I get something like "edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f18" in the URL. That clearly makes no sense.

Q: Where can i edit "edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum"?
A: Set TfSEO Type to Heavy, and than go AdminCP > Forums & Moderators > Forum Manager > Edit Forum > TfSEO Forum Urls.

This wasen't a bug. You had to manual edit the tags.php file.

2.0 version do it automattically.

The edit for your 1.x version won't work, and 2.0 gives me this error when I try to search a tag:

It works fine with your mod disabled, but I prefer to have your mod on, and will temporarily live without tags until there's a fix.

No mate, its when i have actually uplaoded it..... Does the URL re-write do the same for origional html files in the directory or something also.......If so how i stop it, Its using my HTML file so it needs the SQL for a re-write URL, But i dont want it to only .php files.

You right. That variable seems to be uncached. I have add it do search post, but in search thread it don't works.

and the person signed up with a user name "im cool"

will this hack enable the person to find their profile by using the shortened URL

Sorry, i wanted "criticize" you like no other. The plugin for now don't have this feature, in the future i'd like to rewrite more links, doing extension like for downloads II or v3 arcade, but i don't this the rewriting of members is usefull.

thanks for responding... no harm my friend.. but if you are curious to know my need.. I own dance/ night club.. and people come to the club.. and use the forum to network.. and its a lot easier to give out a screen name... than a HUGE url... ... because everyone at the club.. knows the main site... so all they need is the screen name... just makes it easier..more like myspace

Everything works good in my forum but the paging I mentioned above. I still have (for example) 8.html&page=2 in the URL. When I click > from page 1, I directed to page 8 instead of page 2. Looks like this case does not happen in your demo site :)

i have installed it but its not making any difference to my posts/threads
i renamed the .htaccess file and uploaded it .. i didnt change anything in it as i didnt understand what it was and as i am using shared hosting and not dedicated i didnt think it would matter
also as its a brand new forum i didnt do the file edits ... should i?

How do I update my template? I have read all pages in this thread carefully but didn't seem to find info about updating template. All I did was downloading the zip, extract it, and follow the instruction inside (upload these file, these directory, import, config, etc...) as usual.

FYI, the problem also occurs with default template as well.

I don't mind to give you access to my site, but I'd rather do it myself with your info (if you don't mind). I'm a big fans of learning by doing myself :D

Ok, let's clear it up a bit. What I was trying to say is, if I mouse over the "> " on the navigation link in page 1, then my statusbar shows it's address:

http://www.myforum.com/forum/f41/page8.html&page=2

but when I actualy click the ">" I redirected to page

http://www.myforum.com/forum/f41/page8.html

Which (in this case) is the last page of the forum.

No matter in what page I was in, if I click the ">" or the "<" , then I will be redirected to the last page of the forum. So I guess (in my case) the problem lies in the way it translated the "&page=x" .

Curiously, I've tried installing fresh vbulletin 3.7.2 PL1 in my local server to try this issue. I made some example threads / post (so the forum expand to several pages) and see if it happens. Yes, the problem also occurs on the fresh installation.

I hope I explain it more clearly, so you can see the problem to solve :)

This is great mod BTW, and I'm sure many will use it :) I'm looking forward for more info.

If vBSEO were available at a sensible price, say $59 per license, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (three licenses actually), but at its present price and with their snake oil marketing techniques, I don't think it's worth it. You can do as well or better with the freebies.

In saying that, I think Superjeff's work is quite good, although a bit ragged around the edges. He's apparently working on some refinements and fixes that are due out shortly.

You should be able to use it, though, without any serious issues. I have it working on my three vBulletin forums, including the one linked via my signature, in case you want to check performance.

I use "heavy," which also parses the names of the forums, rather than only show the numbers.

Of course, we have a dedicated server and XCache installed, and I had the admins at HostGator do the optimizations recommended by vBulletin, so we are probably getting performance that's as good as it gets for that app.

I am having the same exact problem. When looking at a forum list the rewrite works perfect, if you click on a thread, it puts edit-this-forum-admincp-than-forum back into the url.

Examples:

I just installed this a week or so ago, and I must say, it is a great mod. I have noticed a couple issues, though. I haven't read through all of the posts, but I did a search and didn't find any matches...

First, when viewing a user's profile and current activity, it now comes up as Unknowm Location and then gives a link to the thread they are viewing. Can this issue be resolved?

Next, I noticed that Sticky topics are all screwed up, as the style sheet information doesn't get stripped from the title, therefore the link becomes ".../span-style-color-span-style-color-0000ff-****-t#####".

Other than that, and a couple of issues which I did find are being resolved, this is a great product!

#4: no idea... if I disable this mod, they work fine... and I have made no modification to these two templates, nor do I have any mods that use these two templates. TFSEO is the only mod that uses these two templates... if I disable the following two plugins: Generate Navbar URLs and Generate Navbar URLs 2; then the problem is fixed... (and by result, problem #3 is fixed as well.

#6... I thank you for your work, but I have tried the plugin, and while it works with the news blocks, it is completely incompatible with the recent threads block and many of the other blocks.

Actually, my board traffic is way, way up since we moved from MyBB, which had SEO-enabled plugins.

My feeling is that vBSEO is a lot of hot air, overpriced, and they use questionable marketing techniques, in the fashion of those unsolicited SEO builder offers a lot of people get in their Junk mailboxes.

TfSEO has had some growing pains, but the latest version works fine for me. To it I add the vBSEO :: Sitemap Generator, which is free and doesn't have quite the snake oil aspect of the retail vBSEO product as a result, and ZH -- Meta Tags.

Yes, it takes more time to install and maintain 3 free products rather than one retail product. But when you consider that vBSEO doesn't even offer all the features the freebies present, and some that appear to be non-functional, I'm loathe to recommend that to anyone.

I use romanian language that has the following chars not showing at all in any settings
şţă?? ŞŢĂ??
We use also: stai STAI instead of the above but some are using it and all this spechial chars are replaced by - char making confusion.

Here is the link to forum index (http://www.eugenol.ro/forum/index.php?) where u can see the error. After the edit suggested by you I got now only one error just on main page (the link provided) not aprox 10 repeats of the error .
All rest appear to work fine and rewrite except romanian chars

I would reinstall if I was in your situation. Check also if your server can work with .htaccess Not shure (I am newbie afterall) but on some servers is done different.
Or maybe if you have proxy you revisit only cashed pages not the live sever. Not shure about that too.
Just brainstorming , maybe a pro will give you more info.

The locazition of the "page" word should work correctly. If not, edit the included functions_tfseo_type_xxx.

Try to set RewriteBase /forum in your .htaccess. (of course, only if the url to your forum is yourdomain.com/forum !)
There is a chance of 10% it might work.

Sorry for not beeing able to help better, this one is tricky.
But in general - Error 500 means there is an mistake in your .htaccess file.

I didn't understood you. That part of code is about the rewrite of the templates, it chage the default template with a custom one. You can remove it ad edit the original template.

I have vbadvanced working now on the last post button I however have issues with today's posts, and Todays posts where the URL is not inserting the pagination when its more than one page.

Any clues on which templates or which re-write I did a new line to the .htaccess to overcome the fact that my forum index is forums.php now its forums.html

Jeff ignore my previous request it as long day and I wasn't thinking straight but overcame the problem with a small addition in the template. The issue that I had with vbadvanced is now on the two search functions, so if I find the right templates I should fingers crossed be able to overcome the issue..... clues welcome...;-)

Don't use it with vbseo.
I think it is possible, but you will get a lot of errors i think.

I have just a small problem, and I'm not sure whether it is truly a problem or how the program is designed. I have my forum set on "Heavy Method."

Everything works except for viewing of topics. I will give an example of the URL Structure:

When I click on "General Security Questions" it will link me to:
/general-security-questions-f6/

Which is very much correct. Now lets say there was a topic in general security questions. Here is the new URL Structure:
/edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f6/test-t157/

It refers back to as if I did not set the above URL (general-security-questions). Can someone please help me with this problem? Our URLs won't be really good SEO until I can get this figured out.

It will all go to the same place, because all it needs is the f123.
