It should be pretty easy: add there lines (except ) "RewriteEngine on" at the end of the tfseo's htaccess.

I had install the product and get too many errors. Reading further I have noticed :
- product incompatible with msqli ( need the above edit) - I have this
- product incompatible with VBSEO site map generator - I have this too
Now I get why I got errors :D
Maybe is good to put this list on first page to avoid posts here (including the edit).
I can make first edit easily but I need advice regarding what is better to have from SEO point of view:
Does site map has more influence than rewrite from Google ranking point of view or the other way around?
I care less for users to have easy to remember urls, I care only from Google pov.
Thanks guys.

Look in your root for a file named .htaccess - if you have one, rename it to .htaccess_OLD and see if that fixes your forum. If so, you'll have to edit the .htaccess_OLD file and remove any tfseo stuff

Well I got it but errors I was experienced had not look like what is there.
Simple list of incompatibilities on first page will be more helpful. And it was a suggestion not request to have less questions here.

Hello
How to conwert polish characters from: ąęćżźł?ńś, to: aeczzlons?
I have problem with polish characters in TfSEO. When TfSEO is enabled i have bad rewrited links withaout converted characters.
Exemple
"ćwiczenia" --> tfseo enabled --> "wiczenia" <-- (where is c?)
"mr?wka" --> tfseo enabled --> "mrwka" (<-- where is o?)
Can someone convert that file for me? I found in TfSEO language files with non-english characters so it brings me idea to convert polish characters and make my own language file but that idea not working.
Help please
sry for my english :)

My problem is this: In page's index, I get the next message:
Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Argument must be an array in [path]/includes/functions_forumlist.php(397) : eval()'d code on line 12-
And when I look for my forum's topics, I get a message saying that there are no topics in it.
I really don't know what this problem might be caused for and my partner and I have been looking for an effective solution, but it seems like we cannot get one, so now we just don't know what else to do to solve it.
We really aprecciate any help that you guys can give us.

vBSEO is overpriced snake oil. You can use this and several other VB mods to far exceed the real things vBSEO does — and not pay a dime!

There is zoints seo and vrewrite. They are both free, i raccomand you to don't buy vbseo, it is expensive and heavy.

Because it must take from the database the info for the "modificated category name".
This usually happens editing exesting query, in a few cases with dedicated query.

The difference is in the used variable to build the url.
Light > forumid and threadid
Medium > forumid threadid and threadtititle
Heavy > forumid forumkeywords threadid and threadtitle

I have been reading all the posts and problems with the 301 redirect issues, and I have confused myself a bit. Currently, I have a reseller package. My forum is hosted on the main account. I am running the mod in heavy mode and it works great until I try enable the 301 redirects. Then I get the looping error. I have edited the base URL correctly. However, my forums are not in a sub directory, they are in my "public_html" folder. Could this be causing the probem, and if so, is there a way for me to correct it, without moving my forum into a sub directory?
I understand the 301 issue has been addressed many times, and I thank you in advance for your patience.
Also, after installing this Mod, when I submit an article on vBdynamics, I get a 404 error on the redirect page. I have redirects turned off, but some pages still use them by default. Is there any way around this?

I found a BUG with ur mod.
I use coppermine for vb.
I uploaded files to my coppermine gallery and this happened:
http://www.alizee-forum.com/gallery/albums/tv_interviews_2007-11-25-tf1fanmeeting/emou4.jpg >> this url didnt work although its actually there, and redirected to forum said this url wasnt correct, please contact admin.
Then I renamed it to http://www.alizee-forum.com/gallery/albums/tv_interviews_2007-11-25/emou4.jpg and it worked!
I was very confused and removed ur Rewrite in htaccess and then both urls worked fine.
Then I removed ur htaccess rewrite code:
RewriteRule ^(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)newpost(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$2&goto=newpost [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)/post([0-9]+)(.*)$ showpost.php?p=$6 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)/([a-z]+)([0-9]+)(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$4&page=$7 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$4 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f([0-9]+)/([a-z]+)([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$2&page=$4 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)f([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$2 [QSA,L]
And then it worked...
How can that be?

I have installed TfSEO and it works perfectly. However, I ran into a problem when running my sitemap generation application.
It appears the app (KeyLimeTie Sitemap Generator) incorrectly forms the URL relative to the base href. While technically a base href URI can pretty much be whatever you want according to w3.org, it seems that the code in this application does not expect a trailing slash. Likewise it expects a prepended slash for the relative URI's in the href tags. (OK, what did I expect for an app based on MS scripting for MSIE?) As a result, the app prepends the URL of the current page to the relative URL, generating loops until it runs (mercifully) out of memory.
I had never run into this problem before with other sites which use a base href and extensive modRewrites since I always structured the sites in a way that the app could properly parse, perhaps by dumb luck. ;)
Are there any easy hacks I can make to resolve this problem or should I just invest in a new sitemap generator?
TIA
And there is a possibility to use this of fashions, if my forum in Russian?
Now references turn out such kind.
http://www.poputi.ee/forum/f8/thread-t23/
I think it not as will not help with advancement in SE.

I noticed a bug, dont know it has been reported.
Im using heavy method, and if in TfSEO Forum Urls i add special characters, the page loops forever.
My forum is in spanish and for example if i add a subforum called "M?xico" and add "M?xico" as Forum URL, when going to the forum listing, and clicking on it the page loops forever.
For me its not big deal, i just avoided using ?, ?, ?, ? and ?
Also i noticed that www.pinstack.com uses vbadvanced and maybe TfSEO, i havent read all 54 pages, but is there a plugin for vbadvanced?

I run vBa Dynamics on my site. After installing this mod, none of my articles are accessible. I get a 404 error for every article and category, under vBDynamics. I have uninstalled this product completely, reinstalled my original "htaccess" file, and even gne through my DB looking for links. No matter what type of tfSEO you run, it will overwrite your vBDynamics links. All of my catagories and posts are unaccessable, because this mod rewrote my URL's, to the point that, after uninstallation, it wont "write-back" my vB Dyanamics URL's to thier originals.
Every single one of my catagories and articles have had thier URL's rewritten, and cannot be changed back to the original URL's. My forums work fine after uninstall, but all i have done in vBa Dynamics is lost.
Even after restore of DB, all links point towards URL's that were never valid, and never should have been changed according to this mod.I have 8 months worth of unaccessable articles, because of this mod, and its author's inability to use foresight.
As this a "non-supported" mod, meaning vB has no official connection to this mod, nor responsabilty towards it. I woul dhighly recommend not installing this mod, as it has the potential to destroy your sites content.
I will be purchasing and installing the vBSEO tonight, because thier software is supported and tested, and thier coders don't ignore your questions when you need answers.
Be warned. This mod has not ever substantially helped a site with SEO and has never been supported fully.

The site is http://www.xbattles.net. Every one of my articles in vBdynamics, has had its URL permanently re-written. I cant even access the article categories. I have completely uninstalled the hack and overwritten the supplied htaccess file with my original, and still no change to the URL's on my articles section.
As it stands I can not access any article I have written in the life of the articles section.
Sorry for the sour tone of my last post, but imagine my frustration when I realized I could not access the heart and soul of my site.

hi,
is there any bug with this one:
Q: Where can i edit "edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum"?
A: Set TfSEO Type to Heavy, and than go AdminCP > Forums & Moderators > Forum Manager > Edit Forum > TfSEO Forum Urls.
i got vb 3.7.3 and i edited some of my forums in Acp with some words, when i klick on my forum its ok, but if i klick then on a post, the "edit-this-from-admin...." shows up again :(
so... in forum index all working well, but clicking on a posting, the url of the category shows up as the text....
any ideas ?
I'm having this same issue. Please let me know if there is a fix.

Installed fine on 3.7.4.
Made silly error: in the AdminCP for "Base url of the site" I forgot the ".com". So I kept getting "redirect loop" error.
2 hours later I corrected my "Base url of the site" - wham! - it worked like a charm.
Thank you very much for making this plugin.
Cheers, Far100

Your modification is set to the default setting yet I use to run 18 queries on my forumhome, now I am running a whopping 88 queries!
Topics seem fine, they run 18 queries, it's just the forumhome.

There is an easy fix: Go to plugin manager > generate thread url and delete the query about "if lastpost isn't in the first page"

There is an easy fix: Go to plugin manager > generate thread url and delete the query about "if lastpost isn't in the first page"
Is this what I had to removed:
//If lastpost isn't in the first page of the thread
$tfseo_tot_post = $vbulletin->db->query_read_slave("
SELECT thread.replycount
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "thread AS thread
WHERE threadid = '$lastpostinfo[lastthreadid]'
");
$a = mysql_fetch_assoc($tfseo_tot_post);
$a = implode($a);
$a = $a / $vbulletin->options['maxposts'];
$a = floor($a);
$tfseo_total_page = $a + 1;
I did this and got my queries back down to 18. However I am curious if this will affect anything?

Ive got a problem. When you go into a subforum, everything works peachy. For example.. if you got into Site News, the URL rewrites correctly.
http://www.somesite.com/Site-News-f25/
but when you go into a thread, it changes to:
http://www.somesite.com/edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f25/server-outage-t33209.html
Ive edited the forum options and added the appropriate text and it works fine until you go into a thread. Anyone got any ideas?

You've got root access? In most cases you will need to enable mod_rewrite first.
Use a search engine for more details.
The .htaccess itself is the same for rootserver, shared server and simple webspace.

-Include and incrase the sitemap plugin (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=198369) from paketeto.
-Fix the two old bugs: the vbadvanced and the wrong ('edit-this-') urls from forumdisplay.

Hey everyone,
I'm looking to install this product sometime this week, but will it crush my server when I initially load it? Not sure if it'll end up having to convert all the URLs and cause a huge server overload (over 500,000 posts).
I checked with my host, and they said the normal server increase that it causes should be fine. I'm just curious about the initial, thanks!

hi... this is a bug with TFSEO when used with vbadvanced. Jeff has promised an update soon fixing this bug let's see, when he updates.
http://www.example.co.uk (http://www.example.co.uk/)
and
http://www.example.co.uk/forum/
and
http://example.co.uk/forum/
all serve the same content. Meaning I have been penalised by Google and lost my Pr6 accidentally...
Hi firstly, your www.site.com and www.site.com/forum/ points to same content because there is a redirect in your htaccess file which is redirecting all request from www.site.com/forum/ to www.site.com/ and it's nothing to do with TFSEO. You should have made a directory called forum on your server and put your vbulletin files in that directory.
Secondly about the www issue, check out this post of mine

hi... this is a bug with TFSEO when used with vbadvanced. Jeff has promised an update soon fixing this bug let's see, when he updates.

I am also using TFSEO and i have no duplicate content problem. You can check a working example at my site: Oracle Forums (http://www.club-oracle.com)
The site IS IN A DIRECTORY called FORUM!!!
I have removed the htaccess and it still does this with TFseo running. I deleted all code except this
# Rewrite requests for root home page to /forum/index.php
RewriteRule ^$ /forum/index.php [L]
So that people dont get an error when going to my url.
What I was trying to acheive is so that
www.site.com/forum/ 301 redirects to www.site.com/ thereby meaning I dont have dupe content issue anymore. Alternatively if the other redirects to /forum I would still be very happy!
Any ideas please? Im desperate!!

I have one problem with my archive. When I go into a forum, the threads lead to the actual version, rather than the archive version: http://www.adminfuel.com/archive/index.php/f-13.html

dear superjeff ,
if you want to update this mod with arabic language , please update this mod with farsi(persian) language too, as you don't know in persian language there is only four letters more than arabic's ,
persian letters :

thank you very much ,

What i understand is that you have put all your vbulletin files in a directory called forum. Now you want www.site.com/forum/ to redirect to www.site.com/
Is that right?
If yes, why in God's name did you first put the site in a directory called forum? Just put the whole VB files under your public_html folder and so www.site.com/ will have all your pages.
And if your www.site.com/forums/ pages are indexed in the serps then basically you have to make a choice whether you want your VBulletin webiste as www.site.com/ or www.site.com/forums. You can't have it both ways.

yes, you are right!!
But the forums have been installed in a subfolder for several years and it will be hard work to move it all to /root
and I will lose a lot of traffic/ inbound links possibly, unless I can use htaccess to redirect all requests from /forum/xxxyyy
to /xxxyyyy which should be possible.
but my question was related to the simpler task of using htaccess to try and prevent some of VBs dupe content! Im guessing you dont know the answer to my question :erm:

Hi
You DO have a duplicate content problem :)
It is NOT due to TFSEO I dont think, but
http://www.club-oracle.com/
http://www.club-oracle.com/index.php
http://club-oracle.com/index.php
All give identical content. That is a very bad thing for SERP ;)

Thank you for a great modification. But I have a one problem with it. I'm using "Hard Style" URLs and have my forum in a directory (site.com/forum), when I open site.com/forum sub-forums URLs (for example, I have forum: "forum" (id:1) and sub-forum: "sub-forum" (id:2)) are displaying fine (site.com/forum/sub-forum-f2), but then I open sub-forum link (site.com/forum/sub-forum-f2/), threads links are showing in wrong way (site.com/forum/edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f2/thread-t1.html).
So from front page and from forum page link are fine (sub-forum-f2), but on sub-forum page it becomes (edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f2).
Are it because my forum located in /forum/ directory? How can I fix it?

I gave this a go on 3.7.4 patch 1, flawless.
If you use Godaddy as your provider be patient, it won't work at first because Godaddy takes time to update things on their end... sometimes up to 2 hours. It will work "all of a sudden" though. The same thing happens with wordpress and permalinks.
Nice product.

Yes u r right. That is basically vbAdvanced's index.php and it's not bcos of TFSEO but my laziness to write a htaccess rule! ;)
Actually i have been waiting for Jeff to come up with his update and then i will reolve this (and a few other) issues with my site.

Quick question...
Would there be a way to add a list of words you don't want to include in the urls?
Stuff like "uh" or "f**k" would be good choices. I don't want to censor the forum, but I also don't want the urls to be adult themed.

Hmm, strange. Now links are ok, maybe it something related to cache.
BTW, if forum located in some folder, that contain letter "f" in it's name, rules in .htaccess won't work. Why not to correct them like that:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)newpost(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$2&goto=newpost [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\-f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)/post([0-9]+)(.*)$ showpost.php?p=$6 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\-f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)/([a-z]+)([0-9]+)(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$4&page=$7 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\-f(.*)/(.*)t([0-9]+)(.*)$ showthread.php?t=$4 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\-f([0-9]+)/([a-z]+)([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$2&page=$4 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^\-f([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$1 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\-f([0-9]+)(.*)$ forumdisplay.php?f=$2 [QSA,L]

One quick problem.
When you are running a search on all posts by one user, for some reason it takes you only to the single post rather than to the post on the thread. It is dropping the page12345# before post12345
Basically it should say (medium version) ./title-of-thread-t12344/page12346#post12346
Instead it tries to bring up title-of-thread-t12344/post12346
Anyway, the old style of ./showthread.php?p=382269#post382269 which shows the whole thread but brings you to the post, gets changed to only show the post basically what you get with the old style of ./showpost.php?p=382269&postcount=53
Edit:
Here is what it is doing. It drops the page12346# before /post12346, if I add that it brings up the right result to make it look like this /page12346#post12346 then it works, how do I get it to add that on the search results?
If I put in the showthread.php?p=382269#post382269 directly I get thread-title-t1234/page2#post382269
So it redirects, but somehow the results page is linking the wrong result, when I turn off the mod it works...
:dunno:
Thanks.

Another:
Viewpost for an ignored poster, or for a deleted message, does not play nice with this mod. Which probably means a .jss needs to be "fixed" to read the new urls.
I'll have to deactivate it until I have full functionality with the mod. Great idea though, once the bugs are worked through this will RAWK.

I think that Jeff redistributed original code of VBulletin (i think the problem is the external.php he included in the zip). So Jeff, be carefull to include just the needed changes and not code written by Vbulletin. Im sure he will fix it.

Hi there. I'm going to do a big update to the product, and i ask for feedback. This is what i think to do:
-Include and incrase the sitemap plugin (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=198369) from paketeto.
-Fix the two old bugs: the vbadvanced and the wrong ('edit-this-') urls from forumdisplay.

I un-installed both XML plugins via cpanel>ManageProducts, then I re-installed them. I end up in the same place as before, no sight of "Heavy" anywhere on any page.
Thanks for any help you can provide here, I'm sure it's as frustrating for you as it is for me :)

Thanks for this Mod. I have done the installation and am getting this error - "http://www.alpharadiotv.com/forum/f2/". I cannot see any where on the Vbulletin Options to select Heavy or otherwise.
I have the .htacces as per your read me.
Any idea.

-3.8 Update.
Any other suggest, except the rewrite of members profile?
I tested it just now and this works good...
Have you provided an update? where is the new version?

Any more thoughts on how to get the 'heavy' part of the mod to work? All other parts seem to be there and they work great. Just no sign of heavy, at all. See above, tried to un-install then re-install without success.

Yes, this (heavy) seems to be the questions we're all wondering. Where is it?
*Place .htaccess in the base /forums/ dir and then be sure apache is configured for it.
Hopefully we can figure out the Heavy issue soon.

I'm looking for a mod that would do url rewrite for the useraccounts.
example:
Current URL
http://www.fifamexico.net/foros/member.php?u=1
How I want it to look like

I'm not sure if this mod would be capable of doing something similar

2.1 worked great. The heavy option is there, enabled, and all is working/re-writing well.
There is something which I can't seem to understand though, perhaps a setting hidden somewhere?
When I enable heavy, and choose to re-write the +forum, +thread, and +url from the admincp:
1) main forum looks like: mysite.com/forums/
2) each forum category looks like: mysite.com/forums/category-here/
3) however, each post looks (exactly) like: mysite.com/forums/edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f2/welcome-t1/
Where do you edit this 3rd URL? Why is it coming out like this? The pages load fine, but the URL on the threads themselves (3rd above) are very weird.
Ideally the thread URL would look just like "/forums/category/thread/" however I cannot find out how to do this. The category is perfect, it's just when you try to go to the actual thread inside the category that it goes berserk.
Thanks Jeff

hi Jeff, we have installed APC cache on our server to reduce server load. On our dedicated server we have 8 VB forums running. Of these 8, only one (Oracle Forums (http://www.club-oracle.com)) uses TFSEO. After installation of APC however we load tested by simulating high traffic on all websites. All of them performed brilliantly except our Oracle Forums (http://www.club-oracle.com/) . One site (MBAGuys (http://www.mbaguys.net)) even has VBSEO installed which did better than the Oracle Forums.
VBulletin, VBSEO all give an option to enable APC to cache php. I understand that TFSEO is a free and under-development MOD. But do you have any plans to optimize it to use with many of the caching systems available? We wouldn't mind paying for it, if you charge for it.
And lastly would you please let us know when you will be releasing the update with VBAdvanced BUG fixed. It's been more than a month since I am waiting for it.
Thanks and Regards

Hey Jeff, can you please read over my post (#961) again. It seems you may have missed what I was getting to.
The screenshot is all that shows up to me on the "admincp > forums > forum manager". I can edit that 1 single line and that does work for the forum catagory URLS (they work great). However the actual thread URLs are very long (ie: /forums/edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f2/welcome-t1/) so how can I edit this thread URL?
The first one (catagory URLs) is easy, it's right at the bottom of the admincp. Works perfect for catagory links and URLs by injecting the keywords. Ok. It's the thread URLs that seem to be impossible to edit. Can you help me understand what's going on here?

This is a free plugin, and Jeff is doing very well and far beyond the expectations. We must let him work, encourage him, and help him with good comments and observations, but that kind of pressure is unfair. He is doing this in his free time, with no reward.

I absolutely agree with u... this is a great plugin. I am sorry if i came a bit rude there, but i have been waiting to make some changes for the vbadvanced plugin since two months now, but i can't because of the vbadvanced bug with this plugin. I didn't put pressure to him to update but just to clarify if he's planning to update at all and if so in what time frame. Maybe six months maybe within a year... it's not my decision to make, just asking for some clarity that's all. Regards

SoftDux, it work with vBulletin Version 3.8.1
If you download the version 2.1 and not 1.4
Also the version 2.1 has an issue while using the Heavy Method
'edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum' appear in some section of the forum
Even though the variable in the admincp has been setup.
Somewhat the version 2.1 isn't approved yet, so it still show the version 1.4
The link to version 2.1 is here
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1708307&postcount=895
Here is a fix for the TfSEO 2.1 Error where
'edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum'
Appear even though you have configured the admincp variable on that forum
While using the Heavy Method
Open 'product-tfseo_2_37.xml' with notepad
Search for the 2nd occurrence of the following line of code
$tfseo['e'] = tfseo_url_thread($forum[tfseo_key], $thread['forumid'], $thread['threadtitle'],
There should be only 2 occurrence, so the 2nd one is the last one.
Replace the text by:
//Get forum key
$tfseo_key_query = $vbulletin->db->query_read_slave("
SELECT forum.tfseo_key
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "forum AS forum
WHERE forumid = $thread[forumid]
");
$forum[tfseo_key] = mysql_fetch_assoc($tfseo_key_query);
$forum[tfseo_key] = implode($forum[tfseo_key]);
$tfseo['e'] = tfseo_url_thread($forum[tfseo_key], $thread['forumid'], $thread['threadtitle'],
Now update your product and allow overwrite.
I might do a compilation of all the small bug I have fixed, but this was the main issue to have the version 2.1 working while getting the url renamed entirely on the website.
Thank a lot, this product is really nice, it just need a bit more knowledgeable user to fix issues and not rely on only 1 user since time is something that we never have enough of.
Good job up to now, I really wouldn't of been able to write all that code.

this mod is great but it use 44 queries so is it really necessary to use that many for this mod alone?
have debug mode on and when i disabled i notice 44 queries lesser and when i renabled i get a total of 59 queries again

Put a look at the code of the plugin. There is an hook, in forumhome, that call a query for every category that you have. Delete it; it only needs to build the lastpost ulr (the icon one) for multipages thread.

I have installed tfseo 2.1 with VBulletin 3.8.2.
I already added this patch: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1752841
There is a "bug" on the search result page:
Links for (1, 2, 3,... look like this: /edit-this-from-admincp-than-forum-f61/...
but the link for the last page and every other link on the search-result page seems correct...
Perhaps someone has an idee what or where's the problem...

Whenever I click on a forum (directory structure, heavy, v2.1) it sends me to the forum index with that directory name taped on.

We installed this with vB 3.4.1 running vBSEO sitemap generator, and it does not work properly.
The site seems to work ok with this SEO product, but the URLs generated for the sitemap are not rewritten to the new TFSEO style.

It appears to work with vbseo sitemap generator.
The URLS generated by vbseo sitemap generator are not optimized. The sitemap is generated, but the links are the same as without TfSEO.
