1: as I told in the previous message I won't do that
2: I could add an option to set the order
3: for me, channels aren't exactly channels, they are more interpreted as commands which can be shown either in the main channel only or either in separate channels. But however, I could think in next versions (not for the next immediate one) of a possibility to add personnal commands which could be recognized as channels :)

1: I have tried that on my forum with IE7 and there were no error, could you give me the url of your forum so that I could learn more ?

I think you didn't update all files coz get_top_10 is the oldest name of one my function and is no more in it the new version.

IMO this is the reason for those problems :)

For the transcript, you mean save in file format on your computer (if yes, yes it's possible) ?

Yes you can disable both time and date through the options.

For those who are experiencing javascript problems with double channel mode not activated, could you try the following fix :

1 : Open clientscript/mgc_chatbox.js.
2 : Find in the aff_canal function if(can_team)
3 : Replace it by if(can_team && chatbox_mode)

Considering my timetable and the 1.4 version development, I consider as stable and ready for release.

I'll update english translation tomorrow (as I always work on the french version) and then will launch translations in other languages.

Actually not but maybe you could achived that by using the display chatbox when having problems on some styles.

This could help you add the $chatbox_forumhome just where you want it to be shown in the what's going on.

Oh, no, smilie is ok, the problem is that the first line where the date and username are, is not aligned with the chat's messages.

Checked alt classes, but they don't have padding or margin asigned. :eek:
In the end I found one template has a "top" alignement, that's why i was having this problem... haven't checked the latest version... :p

Then if noone is having the option in the usercp, it means that you certainly have not done the modification in the modifyoptions template which is necessary. If you don't do it, then if the user changes his option he will not see the chatbox anymore (as the option to show the chatbox will not be present and so supposed to be equal to 0 by php).

Due to an actual bug in my code, even if you modify now the modifyoptions template, your user won't be able to revert state of the show chatbox option (which will be corrected in the upcoming very soon 1.4).

Anyway this can be corrected by modyfing the mgc_cb_params field of the user table in the database and ensuring that the 1 in bold case in the following value is equal to 1 in the value of your user field:

Is there any way to fiz this? When a user choose a font and a color to rigth the same ones saty fixed, and only have to change when the user wnat´s?

Actually no there are no way to fix this in the way it is.

They can however choose default colors, fonts and else through their user cp if you have allowed them and if you have modified the modify_options template as requested in the installation instructions (becareful you could have problems if not modified).

Could not complete the operation due to error: c00ce56e

Our site is in UTF-8, and I remember it having to do something with it before.

Firefox handles it perfect.

I also would like to ask if and how it is possible to also display seconds next to hours:minutes at the chat messages.

The column 'touserid' is new to version 1.4. Did you import the new 1.4 product? and make sure you select 'overwrite' when importing.

Yes, I did import the new product with the overwrite option set to yes. I did it twice just to make sure.

Hum it works perfectly for me on IE7.

Regarding utf8, have you tried using the accent problem solution to resolve it ? (by changing the $chatbox_utf8 var to 1 in the functions_mgc_cb.php file)

Your errors seems like you're having problems with javascript, did you upload them and reinitialize templates ?

Which button ? the PM channel one ? It should appear in english I have just checked the xml language file.

Yes, I did import the new product with the overwrite option set to yes. I did it twice just to make sure.

edit: Actually, all of those error emails that I got were all within a few minutes. I guess that must have been during the time after I uploaded the files but before I imported the new product. Still, my quick reply is broken for some reason.

The PM channel contains all the shouts you have send to users in private so even in the PM channel, you have to type the /pm command.

Click on the Browse button and select the language file from the l folder

Try UNINSTALLING Quick Reply and REINSTALLING. if that doesnt manage then im quite not sure, and his product has indeed damaged your forum. But don't hold him liable, its not his fault, he can not forsee every bug in this product

I assume you mean "disable" and then "enable" quick reply in vbulletin options? When I refer to Quick Reply I mean the standard vbulletin quick reply, not a mod I can uninstall.

The only trace of MGC I have left is in the language file - I'm not sure how to reinstall a fresh copy of the original language. When I install it, it just overwrites existing entries and leaves the additional MGC entries behind.

I'm not holding vbdev liable, just looking for his help to fix my forum, because he is most likely to know what happened in the 1.4 upgrade that cause my forum (and other people's too) to break.

All your problems come from the language error.

As a matter of fact, as vbulletin language file is default, you should try to overwrite the english one by the master which is in the install folder.

However I am not 100% sure of that so you might ask jelsoft team first to be sure. This would be a precaution.

Don't worry! These things happen.

You are correct though. The solution is to create a new language. No need to update from the /install file, as it is already populated. Make this new language selectable, and the default, and all is fixed...

There are no blinking on the PM channel.

As I already told you for the PM channel, you can't just send the message without entering again the pm command as you might pm anyone you want.

To answer a private shout, even in the pm channel, you have to enter the command again before your text, this is why I have added the pen to easier command entering.

Could you ckeck in your database if you have the touserid field in the mgc_chatbox field ?

I was speaking of chatbox version, the product and files are the one from the 1.4 that's right ?

For that feature, my anwser will be no sorry, this would complicate the chatbox too much and it would become a chat which is what I don't want !

As a matter of fact, chatbox ajax calls makes the session table to be updated this is the reason why user are shown as being in chatbox.

I unfortunately don't know a lot about vbulletin session so I can't promise you anything on that part :)

I created the new language and this seems to have fixed everything that I was aware to be in error. I chose to name this new language "English" in lieu of "English (US)". You then need to edit the new language and set Is Default Language to "Yes", and subsequently edit the original language file to set Allow User Selection to "No".

However, while making this fix I noticed that there were three default fields in the new language which were pre-filled on the new language yet blank on the original "English (US)" language settings. Could this be a simple fix of entering these values back into the original language settings? See these below:

Number Formatting = .

I changed these settings to match in the original "English (US)" language file and it seems to have fixed my poll problem even when I set the original to default. I assume the missing period from the number formatting was translating 50% to 5000%. Try this out prior to creating a new language and see if it addresses all havoc and woe.

Make sure your original language file is still on your server in the install folder (see here (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1076769&postcount=2)).

Then go to Language Manager, and add a new language. Press save and it will fill it up with all the standard phrases. In "Settings" for this new language, make it selectable and make it the default.

All will be fixed, except that the chatbox will be in French!

I changed these settings to match in the original "English (US)" language file and it seems to have fixed my poll problem even when I set the original to default. I assume the missing period from the number formatting was translating 50% to 5000%. Try this out prior to creating a new language and see if it addresses all havoc and woe.

The update has fixed my quick reply problem, but now I have a new one. I have my editor on the bottom and the new posts appearing at the bottom as well, but the thing is that when you scroll up a little bit it jumps back to the bottom every few seconds. This was a problem in the earlier vbshout as well, but it was fixed after a while.

No no no ! I told you the command can be used in the two ways : /pm and /mp.

However, I didn't change the javascript that automatically adds the command with the username as files are the smae for both languages :)

I think this was because you had modified templates of the chatbox before or you had not uploaded again the new js files.

I would say it's the second one as this variable is defined in the js file (the one from the error).

Are you sure of the syntax you've used ? the command syntax is the following :

/mp "username" your_text

Quotes are mandatory for this command :) (to avoid problems with username containing spaces).


This is not the same as for /ban and /ignore but as there is no parameter after the username for those command, there is no problems with username having spaces.

With the new corrected 1.4 version ?? I have checked and I think not !

In the corrected language file there is now the following lines :

And I have tested it, the decimal separator is still there and it's the point.

Try downloading again the v1.4 and reimport the language file.

Anyway the previous versions were stable so there is no reason why it should be considered beta ;)

And once it's a total release, it can't become a beta at each version here he he

Hum, yes I think I have to change the url in my ajax calls as they are not full urls.

If you have time maybe you can try modifying the url calls in the mgc_chatbox.js file by adding manually the urls before the php files name.

Nothing happens when refresh is clicked. The 'reload' circle appears, but the 'idle' message remains.

The chatbox archive IS logging the messages though.

If you have done the modification in the modifyoptions template (which is highly mandatory !) and selected the options your users can select then they'll be able to choose their own default color.

If is useful for you, I tryed to include the Following Text into it, so that the User could know the Image of the Refresh Button, but it seems that the Include Image Damages the Chat Box's Working!! :(

This is not the image this is the quote in the image as quotes are used in php.

I've Fixed the Error by Editing the Text of the Phrase "$vbphrase[mgc_cb_idle_msg]" changing it back to the Original Setting!! :) (That's the last thing I changed before the ChatBox Collapsed).

If is useful for you, I tryed to include the Following Text into it, so that the User could know the Image of the Refresh Button, but it seems that the Include Image Damages the Chat Box's Working!! :(

This is not the image this is the quote in the image as quotes are used in php.

It would have worked maybe if you had escaped the quote (by putting \" instead of just ").

I don`t know but there is a problem with seeing the poll resulte ?

oh Yes I have ,also I Uninstall and Reinstall de Product.. reupload and etc... I don't know what going on , but I return to the last prodcut (1.4 before today) , and all is working fine...

Also , my advice for all, I don't like the fact to edit navbar template, I'm very busy to make all this changes , and YES I 'm Lazy, So , I recomend use a CUSTOM NAVBAR PLUGIN , adding the specify url: mgc_chatbox.php?$session[sessionurl]do=view_archive and mgc_chatbox.php?$session[sessionurl]do=view_chatbox

add ARCHIVE button to the "mgc_chatbox_editor" template

I' dont really search for de conditional variable so I only add a simple image link, and I added after the Full Mode Button link

Please don't use bold font like that ...

For the size of the text in the chatbox, it can't be changed as this is changed depending on user needs.

As you know font size is selectable.

The navbar shall not be changed anymore by user as there are links now in the chatbox ;)

Your button is a nice idea thus it's not very useful when in full mode.

Anyway, I could use it for the archive link when in expanded mode !

The only comment I'd like to make (and please don't slag me if it's already been mentioned as I did not find it in the 30+ pages I've already been through) is it would be nice if a user could turn on/off the random smilies option.

The only reason I suggest it is due to the different sizes of smilies and animated smilies out there. Adding a random component just ensures the undesirable smilies are also now in full rotation in the chatbox which messes with chat box overall aesthetic IMHO.

Quoting someones previous shout would also be a great feature because a lot of people in chat means that many different conversations are happening so it's easy for messages to get crossed.

Neither of these are complaints at all, merely suggestions for you to consider or discard, either way, it is still a great product!

There are no css style linked to the chatbox. It all uses forum css.

Maybe you can lower the size of the chatbox by modifying the mgc_chatbox_bit template

All MGC options in the AdminCP are now in French. I've updated my language file with the mgc_chatbox_language_EN.xml file as mentioned in the install instructions. Any ideas why or am I missing something? I haven't had any problem with version 1.2.

The Text is Larger than the one I use in my Forum, as you could see in my Forums (The Size of the Posters is Huge compared with the Text of the List of Threads and Forums); is the Text what I'd like to make Smaller. Any suggestions to make this possible?? :confused: ;)

It happened to me too, and I checked a Phrase that I changed that caused that Problem; check one of my previous Posts in this Thread and perhaps you'll find a possible solution to your Problem; perhaps could not be the same phrase but another one you could've changed!! ;)

Also, I said in the howto that the option display chatbox on all pages under the navbar must not be active otherwise it won't work, and I can see from the screenshot that it is ;)
