no.. on internet explorer the team channel link is working.. im running the latest firefox....

You are the only one using the latest firefox version which appears to have that problem, this is really strange.

Could you send me by pm the html source page so that I can see if there is a clue ?

Have you made the modifyoptions templates edit for each of your styles ? As specified in the readme file.

This is a great chatbox. I am still waiting to hear if it can be installed on vbadvanced on the right or the left column!

I'll release an addon just after the new version as I explained in a previous message.

i just notice that it doesnt matter having time or without it.. if you have long username and use /me command the msg will be left right! and those who has short name will have a huge space btw their name and the msg

i did the mofiy option again and it seem i missed the / thats why it didnt display

Hum that's very strange.

I have had a look at your html, it seems like you didn't have the team access rights with this user as this is the only condition why you shouldn't see them.

Are you usign same accounts for both ?

If you are using the same accounts, the same styles, then there shall not be such a problem.

I know lot's of people who are using both firefox and ie and never had experienced such problems.

Does users of your board have experienced the same problem ? Could you make a test on another forum ?

The /del command has parameters, this is why you got this error.

Have a look at the help in the chatbox, this will show you what is the correct syntax for this command :)

Everything installed successfully but i can't view the shoutbox without setting permissions and this error comes up when i try to set permissions.

for your question im vote for this:
Same but Chatbox in global var instead under navbar (var has to be added in each concerned template)

I plan to release it this weekend but it'll maybe not contain all feature, especially the whosonline thing as I don't want to add a query in a session table for the chatbox as inferno shout.

So I have to think on a way to use the vbulletin online session thing but not sure how to do it for the moment.

The only thing that could avoid it to be seen is the usergroup rights that were moved from vbulletin options to usergroups permissions as stated in the modification thread.

This is also a reason why the command is not working ;)

hey uploading the xml fixed the issue but rite now the buttons dn't show for the shoutbox the links aren't highlighted for Bbcode Smilies Help

You mean just see and not chat ? If this is what you mean then it is not possible on the version 1.2 but corrected in the 1.3 which will be released very soon.

If you want to allow them to chat then it is actually possible if you set the permissions for nonregistered users.

This is due to an error in the modification you made in the navbar template as you can see from the menu appearing in the middle of nowhere.

As I see your style, I think you should maybe not put the modifications in the navbar (it seems a bit too fixed to add anything).

the ö or üöä doesn´t display. why ?
the charset ist correct.
i have test the utf8 option from 0 to 1, but the äöü will not display when i shout.

On my hack selling forum, I used to experienced that problem with our old host (mavenhostings).

I think this due to a server problem incompatibility as we experienced that problem with all existing ajax based chatbox/shoutbox. And we also had problems with many ajax functionnality in vbulletin.

I am not very experienced in ajax (though I made it for the chatbox, this was my learning hack ;)) so I really dont know where it could come from :(

Does other ajax functionnalities on your forum works well ?

You have carefully followed the display chatbox on some styles howto ?

This solution should always work if you have activate correctly the option to show on forumhome for example and then have modified the template forumhome to add the modification explained !

No itz not like that. if i want to force a url to open on online users pc through MGC chat box, is that can be possible.

e.g. if i want my online users to visit www.unitedpunjab.co.uk while they are chatting, so i enter a command "/force www.unitedpunjab.co.uk" in chat box. After that site get automatically pop uped where ever MGC chat box is active.

actually not it's not possible, maybe I'll do it but actually when I retrieve the chats, I have no statuses telling me if there are new chats and it would add one query which I don't actually find that useful.

Which options to I enable/disable in the usergroup section so not logged in users can only view the shoutbox but not add a shout - as I can't get this to work, it just won't show up without allowing guests to make shouts....

No I am sorry I forgot to include the uninstall instructions in the previous release...

How you should do the uninstall :

Remove template edits you made for the chatbox
Remove the files from your server
Uninstall the chatbox product first and then the bitfields oneWhat were your problems when installing the chatbox ?

First question:
You have to edit the mgc_chatbox template and change the colours of the tables wherever you want them to change.

Second question:
This was possible with 1.1 but not anymore with 1.2 and upper as it's not based anymore with the vbulletin date format.

Yeah this actually is a known issue I have corrected in the version to be released.

I am not at home actually but will be back in the evening, I then will look at the issues given by my beta testers and will probably finish the readme files update.
I have also all screenshots to make again as I have change the design of the chatbox.

So release will be probably on monday evening (GMT +1).

It has been running well all day.
One very minor issue...
I would like to have one usergroup in particular have only 'view' privileges. The 'Unregistered / Not Logged In' group. So I check off yes to only the "Can see MGC Chatbox?" permission,and adjusted the minimum post requirement to zero, just in case.
And it doesn't show up.
However, if I add the "Can use MGC Chatbox?", then, of course, it is visible to guests, and functional, as I did a few test shouts logged off.

Any ideas on that?
One thing I loved about the vB Shout flat file system I had was that it was visible, but unusable for guests.

Looking forward to the new version soon:)

Okay, I choose to have it show the time and not the date and neither is showing. What possibly could I have done wrong? Uploaded all the files, reloaded the xml's. Set the settings in the admincp.

edit: set it to show the date and time and only the date is showing.

I have verified and it should be working !

Did you previously made modifications to the mgc_chatbox_bit template ?

If so you must revert it !

Mmmm... I have my "What's Going On" box at the top of my Forumhome.
I was able to position the ChatBox below it in version 1.2
In 1.3, it seems to have reverted to just below the navbar?
What am I forgetting?

In the oldest shouts first mode, the scrolling bar is not at the bottom thus forcing the user to scroll in order to view new shouts.I am still experiencing this issue. I have the oldest at the top and the text bar at the bottom.

Edit: I changed the "hide refreshing display" to "yes" and it appears to be working.

Great work vbdev. Everything fine.
Just couple of small suggestions, to have alt text of channel and wol icons in english like "canal team" to "team channel", but I'll change that in xml before installing. I only tried it on test board.
Any maybe to have 0 posts requirement by default in usergroup permissions or something smaller, people are unlikely to leave it at 100 posts. I mean I don't have problem changing that to what I like but it should save some time for everyone to install this in future.

edit: I just noticed something while writing this, same thing as Tulsa mentioned, when set to oldest shouts first, after new shout is made it is not actually seen, untill I scroll down. Hope there is a work around for scroll bar to move automatically.

Whoa, this newest version is pretty buggy.

It lags something awful.

It "jumps" every once in a while. I think this may be because I have new shouts appearing at the bottom.

When I click a smilie it scrolls the entire page down to the very bottom, for some reason.

Animated smilies sometimes freeze.

People aren't showing up in WOL.

Also, when I have the inactivity mode enabled, SOME users only see "Idle" in the chatbox regardless of what they do.

How do I revert back to the older version? Just upload the files and import one of the products again?

I changed auto refresh and hide refreshing display options and eventually returned them to original values I had this problem with(both to yes) and it is working fine now.

just upgraded from 1.2 and there are a couple of questions that if answerd would make this the best chat box ever for my users.

First I dont see where you can see what users are online in the chat with you. Is this the "WOL" channel (sorry dont know what "WOL" means maybe "whos online"?) WOL chan doesnt seem to do anything right now in any mode for me including full chat mode.

Second; if i am in the regular channel and someone says something in the team channel my icon does not blink... and yes i have turned this option on.

Third; Could you enlighten me on how to change it from saying canal regular / canal team to make it say Regular channel / Team Channel?

Not sure if this has been suggested, but I have another chat box that displays a line whenever someone posts a new thread or post in the forums. I really love that so I can hang out on the index and chat and watch for new posts at the same time. Any possibility of adding this? Thanks, great work!

Mmmm... I have my "What's Going On" box at the top of my Forumhome.
I was able to position the ChatBox below it in version 1.2
In 1.3, it seems to have reverted to just below the navbar?

I am still experiencing this issue. I have the oldest at the top and the text bar at the bottom.

Edit: I changed the "hide refreshing display" to "yes" and it appears to be working.

What is your browser ? Are you sure that they were no unmodified chatbox templates ?

Great work vbdev. Everything fine.
Just couple of small suggestions, to have alt text of channel and wol icons in english like "canal team" to "team channel", but I'll change that in xml before installing. I only tried it on test board.
Any maybe to have 0 posts requirement by default in usergroup permissions or something smaller, people are unlikely to leave it at 100 posts. I mean I don't have problem changing that to what I like but it should save some time for everyone to install this in future.

edit: I just noticed something while writing this, same thing as Tulsa mentioned, when set to oldest shouts first, after new shout is made it is not actually seen, untill I scroll down. Hope there is a work around for scroll bar to move automatically.

For the 0 posts, yes I could have it set to 0, anyway when upgrading if I put 0 in the next version it will not overwrite the existing value. I'll put that in todo list.

For the scrolling, it was supposed to be fixed :(

Whoa, this newest version is pretty buggy.

It lags something awful.

It "jumps" every once in a while. I think this may be because I have new shouts appearing at the bottom.

When I click a smilie it scrolls the entire page down to the very bottom, for some reason.

Animated smilies sometimes freeze.

People aren't showing up in WOL.

Also, when I have the inactivity mode enabled, SOME users only see "Idle" in the chatbox regardless of what they do.

How do I revert back to the older version? Just upload the files and import one of the products again?

Before being that aggressive, you could at least say a little thanks ... And it is perfectly working on a number of forums so don't say it's laggy before at least having found with me where the problem lies...

If you still want to reverse, just uninstall it and then install the last version.

I changed auto refresh and hide refreshing display options and eventually returned them to original values I had this problem with(both to yes) and it is working fine now.

As there might not be a stats variable in the cyb stats, check out in the plugin code where the author puts the stats. IF this is under the navbar then you should put the var under the $navbar one in the forumhome template.

just upgraded from 1.2 and there are a couple of questions that if answerd would make this the best chat box ever for my users.

First I dont see where you can see what users are online in the chat with you. Is this the "WOL" channel (sorry dont know what "WOL" means maybe "whos online"?) WOL chan doesnt seem to do anything right now in any mode for me including full chat mode.

Second; if i am in the regular channel and someone says something in the team channel my icon does not blink... and yes i have turned this option on.

Third; Could you enlighten me on how to change it from saying canal regular / canal team to make it say Regular channel / Team Channel?

Yes this is the wol channel. When you mean it's not doing anything, what do you exactly see ?

For the team blinking icon, it depends of the time perdio you put for that option in the acp, the check is done on page load and by default every 5 min. So this maybe the reason why you don't see it automatically.

For the last one, edit the alt of the corresponding images in the mgc_chatbox template. I'll make them in phrases for the next version.

Not sure if this has been suggested, but I have another chat box that displays a line whenever someone posts a new thread or post in the forums. I really love that so I can hang out on the index and chat and watch for new posts at the same time. Any possibility of adding this? Thanks, great work!

My problem with this functionnality is that it adds queries, and I don't see that as a mandatory thing for the chatbox.

So my actual position is no I won't do that. I will see if this is really intersting but I am actually not really convinced :)

Finally did it!!
Using an iframe (I know it's not too tidy) got the chatbox working in vBAdvanced :D :D

This is because the username and the chat are not placed in the same column of the table, this was made to clean the display but that's right with long username it is strange too, I'll make a poll for that purpose once things calmed done here :D

Does it moves to the top or to the top of the chatbox ? If this is the top of the chatbox then it's normal, this is the fixed thing for the chatbox being bumped to the very top of the page. (What's your browser anyway ?)

in the WOL i dont see anything at all when i click on it... its just an empty chatbbox it doesnt show myself or any of my test accounts i am using. also i do not have the time out function activated.

I ran another test with the team chat with one test account and stayed idle for about 10 mins and nothing.. the icon still does not blink.

for some reason those 2 functions are not working, im not sure what i am doing wrong.

Have you updated all files on the forum ? Especially the js one in the clientscript folder ?

If you are using ie, does it show you an error at the bottom left of the browser ?

I am experiecing the same issues. I am in the chat with others and we can not see each other in the Chat WOL. Also we do not show up in the VB WOL either when active in the chat.

Other than that the upgrade has some nice new features.

This is fixed by the user forcing a refresh with CTRL+F5.

The WOL issue for me is this:

If a user is using the chatbox on forumhome, then they are "not online". So another user pressing WOL sees only "You are actually the only user connected to the chatbox". Right now I have about 5 users using chat, all on forumhome, and if I press WOL I see "you are actually the only user..."

If I get my test user to go to the dedicated chatbox page and he presses WOL then that user still sees "You are actually the only user...". But now I, still on forumhome, can see that one user in WOL.

So, the WOL logic only sees users who are using the dedicated page.

This behaviour seems unaffected by browser type.

Only when the chatbox is collapsed and the user first logs on. But it is OK, because when the chatbox is expanded, it works normally.

Please have a look at the Readme file and ensure that you are following instructions as specified !

I think you have uninstalled the product before removing the xml files which is not what you should have done. To repair that, remove the xml files and then rebuild the bitfields manually (if you don't know how to do that, search for one of my previous message in this thread :)).

May I suggest a change?
- A server-push when sending a chatline. When a user sends a chatline, the chatbox should refresh for anyone active in the chat. I have a very active chat and a lot of times users type a message thinking they are the next in the chatbox, but after hitting "send", suddenly 10 new lines appear.

There are no way I could do that, the only thing that could be done is to lower the refresh period time but this would become server intensive in my opinion (I think but never tested ;)).

Anyway, you know using it like that is like having a real chat an this is not really intended for that kind of use, there are some limitations I can't break through and this one is part of them. And I don't want my chatbox to become a enormous "factory" (which it is starting to be with all thos functionnalities :D).

Team chat doesnt blink either.

'issue 1' I found is (using oldest lines on top):
- The scrollbar only goes to bottom when you yourself makes a new chatline. If anyone else makes a chatline, the scrollbar doesn't go to bottom.

'issue 2'
- when a user disables chatbox from withtin their UserCP, the entire bit is gone (ie. can't enable anymore because the option to do so is gone).

It seems the statistics on index are 'live'. Can you make those stats fixed like for example, postcount? The stats are gone after a /dell all for example.

Issue 1 : Yes this is known issue already reported by others, I have to search the cause.

Issue 2 : Ok, will check that out !

Stats : stats are calculated dynamically and are not stored anywhere, this is the reason :) The problem with doing no dynamical stats would be the add of one query at each new shout which is really anoying coz 1 query + 1 query + ... makes a lot of queries.

The auto refresh is not dependant of the idle mode this is the idle mode which block the auto refresh and then show an idle message.

I think this is maybe due to the fact that \ is an escape character but what's strange is that you should experience the same problem with post in vbulletin as I use the vbulletin parse function.

A quick solution would be to rename your smiley :D (what ?!? you think I am lazy ? :D)

This due to the fact that you had modified chatbox templates and you didn't revert it for the new changes to be taken into account. You must revert it and apply your modifications again.

Found another minor issue:

This is actually not really an issue as this is wanted ! But depending on the browser, it should not go to this link as I return false in my javascript to avoid that (anyway maybe I didn't... I'll check it).

I don't really think it could be server side thing as other ajax functionnalities of the chatbox works.

but what's strange is that it don't show anything at all :/ Maybe we'll have to work together to make some debug.

1) open template mgc_chatbox and change

2) open up mgc_chatbox.js and change

I might have badly understand the problem.

What your telling me is that you want the scroll to go down when there are new messages ?

If yes then, I disagree with that coz if you're scrolling along all messages, and you're reading them you would really not appreciate that the scroll goes down while you're reading.

And your fix seems odd to me, changing a condition to just 1 could mess up with other functionnalities. However I might not have understood your problem so let's see !

I've been playing about with this Chatbox on my dev machine and it's great for the forum I want to use it on. But can it do one thing I need or am I missing a setting somewhere?

Basically, some of my users read the chatbox whilst at work and the forum style makes it obvious. Can I assign a different forum style just for the chatbox page? I could then have a much plainer style that the user can select if they wish to.

Issue 1 : Yes this is known issue already reported by others, I have to search the cause.

Stats : stats are calculated dynamically and are not stored anywhere, this is the reason :) The problem with doing no dynamical stats would be the add of one query at each new shout which is really anoying coz 1 query + 1 query + ... makes a lot of queries.

The auto refresh is not dependant of the idle mode this is the idle mode which block the auto refresh and then show an idle message.

Thanks, now it worked, in version 1.2 I had edit mgc_chatbox, mgc_chatbox_bit, mgc_chatbox_editor in Templates, so when I update to version 1.3, files mgc_chatbox, mgc_chatbox_bit, mgc_chatbox_editor in Templates didn't change and it work not good, I Revert and now it worked.:)

If you don't show in the vB wol then it's logical that you don't show either in the chatbox wol as it's based on it.

I am running 3.6.7

No I am sorry I forgot to include the uninstall instructions in the previous release...

How you should do the uninstall :

Remove template edits you made for the chatbox
Remove the files from your server
Uninstall the chatbox product first and then the bitfields oneWhat were your problems when installing the chatbox ?

The issues I had was that it wouldn't load unfortunately. I ended up installing the inferno shoutbox later on which is working fine for now...

as for the uninstall suggestion that's kindof what I did... except for removing the files from the server.

When I uninstall the chatbox product and disable the bitfields I have a section in my usergroups where it wants permissions from the chatbox but it has no text in the boxes...

forgive me because I usually am not the one that does the modifications for the board so I really dont exactly know what I am doing, but would removing the files and completely uninstalling the bitfields solve the problem in my admin cp>usergroups? if so I will try that but I dont want to until I am sure

Yes removing the bitfield file of the chatbox and then rebuilding bitfields will solve that.

Your style doesn't support the navbar modification this is the reason, remove the links from the navbar templates and it should be just fine :)

Another suggestion if I may. To drop insertion in the nav bar. Maybe to have an icon for full page display(with alt text) next to bbcode, smilies and help icon. Archive is already linked in shoutbox header and "view the chatbox" probably won't be interpreted as view it in full page mode by most people.

This is exactly what we got on upgrade. The files and product were installed correctly, but it just needed a CTRL + F5. I put a note on the forum about this, and a few replied that they needed the refresh to get it to work.

I upgraded to the 1.3 version, edited my chatbox templates, changed the settings, tested it for a while... and suddenly it stopped working. It says "Loading..." but nothing happens and when i enter a message it redirects me to the archives. The buttons are also inactive and IE gives me a javascript error message:

"Error: 'auto_refresh'" undefined.

I fully uninstalled the product, reverted the templates (a few times) and made a fresh insallation but still no luck. I'm stuck here.

I even dropped all of the chatbox tables via phpmyadmin, installed the earlier versions, cleaned my browser caches (both in IE and FF). Help needed :)

Did you revert templates ?
Did you uploaded the js files correctly in the clientscript directory ?

This is possible errors when the javascript is firing such errors.

I restarted apache and mysql... (memcache+memcached+xcache installed) It's simply useless... Advice?

In the includes/functions_mgc_cb file...

Find:

and change to:

");

I have it set for 15...
You can change the 15 to your liking..
Just make sure to change the smiley limit in the admincp..

Regarding the announce thing, if you type : /announce your_text then this text will be displayed at the top of the chatbox. This is an announce system in the chatbox.

It's also editable through vbulletin options :)

Some of my members can see the shout box and others can't.. One is an Admin and the other is a super mod so I know it can't be a usergroup permission. I upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3 and that's when this statred happening. Any suggestions why this is happening?

I am trying to get it to appear above the footer on every page. I place $chatbox_forumhome in the first line of the footer template, but it does not appear. Is this the correct method? I have "Display on Defined Pages as a Variable" set to yes. I also tried setting "Other Pages List" to "index.php,cmps_index.php".

Only issue I've encountered so far is the bug where once you deactivate the Chatbox within the user control panel, you can't reactivate it and it never displays again. It was becoming such a problem, I had to reinstall the Chatbox and totally delete the Chatbox section from the UserCP.

My problem has been fixed. It was an annoying html tag problem in the phrase system. ( " character )

Maybe it would be better if possible to parse urls automatically. It is pretty annoying to have to push hyperlink button and then enter url in another window, click ok and then go on with typing.

It is set to Yes, but they are not parsed unless I wrap them with [url] tags.

Problem no.6 - JS error is solved.Apparently,i disabled the command team option and enabled the twin channel options and clicking on the WOL button works now.:)

Sorry, you are right, it does parse it. Maybe I tried it earlier without enabling url bbcode, but I am pretty sure it wasn't parsing even with it enabled, but I guess I must be wrong since it is fine now. Never mind, thx.

Yup.When i enabled the /command team option under Advanced option,the JS error occurred.I've /command team options enabled for members,mods,admin and 2 custom usergroups too.

A small bug report. When I go into archive and choose view only team shouts, and delete one shout, I am taken back to View all shouts. Maybe it is not a bug, but seems that way to me.

Could you give me accesses to your forum so that I could try to debug and fine if it's a problem on my side or coming from another side.

If you read the instructions, this is not the pagename that you have to enter in this field but the THIS_SCRIPT constant variable :)

As I told, the global thing might not work with vbadvanced due to path problemes (this is why I told that I'll be releasing a vbadvanced addon for that purpose).

To show it on particular pages, here is what you should do :

Open the php file of the page where you want to show the chatbox
Search for the THIS_SCRIPT define line and note the value which is assigned to THIS_SCRIPT
Put it in the admincp in the box made for that purpose for the chatbox show on all pages thing
Activate the option show on defined pages in a global var
The open the templates of the page you want it to be shown and then put $mgc_chatbox wherever you want it to be on the page.I know this process is maybe hard but this is the price for placing the chatbox wherever you want ;)

No I won't add such thing, this would become too much of a chat.

Anyway I have started adding a /pm command which allow users to send private shouts (with a private channel where all shouts made with /pm will be shown).

I do :D And I have corrected it in the next version, I don't have the chatbox code there but this is in the mgc_chatbox.js file (clientscript directory), you have to add a return false at the end of the ajouter_smilie function (not sure of the name of the function without the code beyond my eyes ;)
