if the 1st is just for line, this one include char, your user can set their own maximum line and chars for viewing other signature

I must say I'm having a WTF? moment myself. I don't see a great differance between this and the hack in the other thread you posted the link to.

There is a big bug with this.

If a user has a sig with a link in it, it'll not close it.
So, your user wants a sig length of 15 characters, but the sig is:

Visit my homepage at [ur l=www.virginradio.co.uk]Virgin Radio[/url]

...then the displayed sig will show the link opening, but not closing again, screwing all your HTML up underneath.

Couldn't think of an (easy) way to fix this.
