I started out on ProBoards about three years ago, then moved to phpBB. Finally, I converted to IPB, which I loved and actually own a license for. But then I discovered vB. It was as great as IPB, but just had that "look" and build that I was looking for. I bought a leased license, then upgraded to the owned license two days later.

PhpBB -> ProBoards -> Invision free -> WTCBB -> VBulletin (admin in VB, I don't own it)
I started as an admin in PhpBB when some guy I knew invited me there and made me a mod, then after a while he made me an admin cause I was the most active member there (what do you expect from this free stuff anyway?). Then I found out how many free forum softwares there are out there, became admin at some PB/Invision forums, made some, etc.. I had also found out about WTCBB, but I didn't know what the heck MySQL and PHP were, so I couldn't use it. After some months, when I had started programming and everything, I figured out what databases and PHP were, so I decided to attempt programming using this stuff, which is when I found my savior, the WAMP server. I programmed in MySQL and PHP a bit, made some forum software (it looked more like an instant messenger, but that was enough for me) and after lotsa time I finally installed WTCBB on localhost. Soon, Superfly made me an admin in his forums, because of my programming knowledge, so that I could mess around with the templates and everything. And I can say that VB is the best of all these.

I'm quite supprised to read how many poeple have used this Pro Board. Never used that myself

Keep it that way. I like it the least of all the forum softwares I've used. Not that I like the rest soooooo much though (except for VB <33).

Just spotted that Pro Board is one of them freebee sites, instant board for free setup. I thought it was a name for a board software.

It's actually one of the most popular remotely hosted community sites on the Internet. It's proprietary software that is based quite a bit on YaBB. But the latest version, 4, is quite different from the latest version of YaBB.

YaBB, I used to use that. LOL

Accually YaBB is a very fast board for a CGI board with tons of features and mods. I had quite a bit of fun with that board.

Before i moved to vB i used www.excoboard.com and found it a great freeboard, fully cutomizable and great support. I've also dabbled with phpbb but it didn't suit my tastes.

I've used: proboards, Invision, phpBB and vBulletin. vBulletin being the best by a long shot!

I demoed IPB and really liked the admincp but chickened out of using it. I heard they dont let people demo anymore, is that true?
