Which types of forum software have you used?

Just curious which ones you've used in the past and how your forums have evolved

I started with phpBB then went to Invisionboard (I switched to Invision right before they went paid) then vBulletin. I've had vB longer than I had the other two and I'm absolutely loving it!

I know there are a ton of different kinds of forums but these are the three I've used and I probably won't use anymore since third time's a charm and I found the one I really love.

My first forum was the default forum in PHPNuke. I then was hired with a company, and they used Invision. Then I purchased my own vBulletin license a month after using Invision. Overall, vBulletin is definitely the best out of all the ones I've used.

I'm pretty sure I've used them all throughout the years.

I think my very first one was a really really old version of OpenBB. Anyone remember them?? Then anything from XMB to SMF..

So I guess you could say I've "played the field" of message boards. vBulletin however? I've been using vB for a couple years now. The longest I've ever stayed with one, and it is by FAR the best out there. Period.

I started with ezboard a very very long time ago.... I have used just about every forum software since.

I forgot to say that I'm very happy to inform everyone that I never once used PHPBB.

hum, i can't say what software i did not try at least once... even the smallest and the oldests...

my name/alias is also in most of the big projects around... i've worked on vB, phpBB, IPB, OpenBB, yaBB, and as i'm the co-founder of postnuke, i can tell i've played with some strange gadgets on that platform that were not verylike forums...

UBB > DCforum > wwwthreads > vbulletin.

ubb then vbulletin... we had a secondary "emergency" forum at ezboard so we got to play with that too.

phpbb, IPB, and vB. vB is the best by far and I'd never go back to the others for anything more permament then a few weeks. Mind you I do have a bad habit of installing IPB to see if something is going to work, before splashing out on another vB licence.
