It isn't an issue of trust in the least, it is an issue of being computer savvy. Nature of the board that I am tasked with keeping up.

We have already had some challenges with the checkboxes and inline moderation while on the test site.

That template mod states that this is for now -- as in until I can have a better fix as merging one user would be fine, but multiple users into one person's post is not good.
