Sorry but vbt.com is very slow

Zachery has a point, especially with loading postbit pages, the IE browser doesn't render them as fast as firefox or such, which is what Brad would probably use to test predomenently.

The largest part of the loading issue, at least from the main page, is the animated new post icons. If you would replace the animated icons with still icons you would probably notice a drop in the load time for the skin.

Those *shouldn't* take a long time to load though, they are not large images. I think it comes back to what Zachery said.

It doesn't for most cable/DSL users, though in comparison to the still images, there is a 30kb gain for that one image (animated = 30 kb while non-animated = .43 k). I am not saying that is the sole cause, but it would lighten some of the load for a few users on the main page.

Firefox does play a big part as it most certainly does render the images quicker that internet explorer, though shaving down the images plays another role .

well, I am sorry, but I am on a T-1 most of the time and this site is very slow, as if caught in a db loop. The line 57 char 24 that pops up on every showthread.php is also annoying.

The site is not slow. It's not fast, but it's not so horrendously slow that you have a difficult time browsing it.

While I will admit, it can be slow to load, a T-1 should be able to handle the loading easier than my cable modem so I would think there would be some sort of issue there with the T-1.

I'm not doubting things are a bit slower at times, though a t-1 should be able to run around a cable modem .

Yep I just got it again. I am using IE 6.0.26. It says "null" is nul or not an object.

I go fast on all other sites, so there is no issue with the T-1. Compared to a dsl, yes it is fast here, but I should not be getting those 3 or 4 seconds delay. I am not getting them at vb.org and vb.com is virtually instant. It makes no difference to me. I was just trying to point out a problem. The javascript is more of a nuisance, preventing me to come here as often as I wish.
