Description: This mod will teach you how to add a link in each post to that post. This way you can link to specific posts in a thread.
This is based on bira's Post Counter & Direct Link [link]. This mod does not include the post counter. The only way to add that feature is to install the hack.
I really like this hack on vBulletin.org and wished to add it to my board, but I didn't want to use a hack. Without this feature, it's a pain to try and provide a link to a specific post. Saying "go here, and it's the 3rd post down" just doesn't work for me.
Larry, I was hoping for numbered posts, as well. However, the mod instructions state, "This is based on bira's Post Counter & Direct Link (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...threadid=22083). This mod does not include the post counter. The only way to add that feature is to install the hack."
So, we're out of luck. But, I think the ease and simplicity of a template mod more than make up for loss of the numbers.
I just installed the mod, and I have a small spacing problem. In the attached image, button #1 is not aligned at the top of the post. Note there is a post subject. On the other hand, button #2 is aligned at the top, as there is no post subject.
How can I correct this inconsistency?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks, Tony. Do you think it's possible to put both objects inside the same table and solve this problem, without creating additional spacing problems? I'll jump into the html if you think it can be done.
I'm not sure, you can try putting the variable (Or whatever code is put into the postbit) into the table where the topic is. Then see if it works with no topic displayed in the posts.
I think I did it. Here is another way of implementing this postbit tweak,
which keeps the link aligned in the top-right corner, regardless of whether there's
a post subject. I'm attaching an image that shows the alignment.
Look for this in the postbit template.
<smallfont>$post[icon] <b>$post[title]</b></smallfont>
And replace it with this.
