![]() Developer Last Online: Jan 2016 ![]() ![]()
Hello Everyone
This little mod, is great if you want to incorporate news feeds into the vbAdvanced CMPS There is the one Prerequisite: I use the freeware version of carp, but, if you have another aggregator you can modify this mod to use your own ![]() Carp http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/ you can download the free version here: http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/docs/download.php Install Instructions: http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/docs/install.php within the zip file is an instruction.txt file that should explain everything. Demo: http://www.tech-unity.com Update: updated instruction.txt file in the zip to comment on the carp path ![]() Show Your Support

Is there a way for it to default to a certain feed without it actually having to be selected? Example, you go to a certain site and the news feed is already there for whatever.com without having to select it. I tried deleting the first option and creating a feed0.php but it doesn't work.
EDIT: NM I figured it out. |

Starscream, This should be fairly simple, i'll see if I can spend a few minutes on this, but... if you have an account at vbAdvanced there is a gentleman there that figured alot of these things out. http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/show...8&page=2&pp=30 the post in question is by Protoss HTH |

This will get the first one working, use the instructions to get more working ![]() Yes, you can use rss feeds for other things, i.e. not technical, but anything you want. the hard part for you is finding the medical feeds you want to use. ![]() ![]() Here is one site that offers some ![]() http://www.medicinenet.com/rss/article.htm Good luck with this |

TomsHawk - few things for you. 1. Excellent HACK! thumps up. I have been looking for something simmilar but did not find anything interesting. RSS is hte most underutilized aspect of forums/BB and u have done a good job. I have rated the thread as all stars! 2. I am not sure if it is something that is possible but if I can somehow get a better display of the feeds.. then that would be just AWESOME write now I have the feed up on seperate page but I was wondering if there is an option to have a break after each news item and maybe change the font etc.........that would look better on my boards. any suggestions on that. Plus a question - Like CARP - are there are any newsfeed display softwares that have a GUI backend so that admins can configure the look and fee of each news feed? cheers, Vik |

I just read through the instructions for grouper. It looks like it would be rather easy to do. The instructions for grouper states creating a php file with the path to grouper.php and a set of search terms. Once you upload this new php file, in my module you'll create a feed#.php file with its link pointing to this one you just uploaded. And, the grouper.php file defaults to google, so it should work perfectly ![]() Give me a hollar if you want or need help setting this up, I wouldn't mind checking it out, but I myself, at least at the moment, dont need it. ![]() Good luck ![]() brianstevz, Congrats, I'm glad you like it ![]() |

Thanks Tom,
I may take you up on your offer for some assistance in setting this up. I am going to give it a shot this evening. I must admit I am a bit technically challenged at times. ![]() Thank you for all your help. |
