Cool, yes? The problem is the query that fetches all the data, including taking permissions into effect, takes a second or two to execute, so the script was doomed to be a cron job
BTW, I believe it's only four queries to make that: load some settings, load some templates, get guest-denied forumids, then get the posts themselves. That last query references information from four tables which would explain the long execution time

Search Google for RSS if you don't know what it is. It's designed for real-time or slightly delayed news feeds. All it is is XML that follows a certain format.
