sql error, any ideas?

the board has been running flawlessly since it was installed, it has a few minor hacks...nothing major...all of the sudden tonight, it developed this deadly little problem.

does anyone have any idea what the difficulty is and how to fix it?

Database error in vBulletin 2.2.9:

Invalid SQL: SELECT COUNT(*) AS count,postuserid,postusername FROM
thread GROUP BY postuserid ORDER BY count DESC LIMIT 1
mysql error: Got error 127 from table handler

Try running the query:

REPAIR TABLE thread;
[/sql]
Also $50 says that your host upgraded to MySQL 4 recently.
