sql error, any ideas?

the board has been running flawlessly since it was installed, it has a few minor hacks...nothing major...all of the sudden tonight, it developed this deadly little problem.

does anyone have any idea what the difficulty is and how to fix it?

Try running the query:
[sql]
REPAIR TABLE thread;
[/sql]
Also $50 says that your host upgraded to MySQL 4 recently.
