Users Receiving Ban Notice

Really strange problem here I'm hoping someone can help me resolve. A few weeks ago we had a server crash. Ever since it was reset several users have emailed us because when they log in they are told their account was banned and would never expire. When we go into the Banned Usergroup the user isn't there, however a user search finds the person but their usergroup is listed as Administrator even though they aren't showing in the administrator usergroup. Very weird.

Has anyone seen this before and if so how do you fix it?
