Still, it isn't yet there, though the white padding now stretches the width (see attachment)

I'm so unsure why this style seems so much work for little things? I would post in paid help but it seems light on replies to other posts, as I haven't even looked at the menu yet and don't think I have the patience left for it.

I haven't stopped looking at anything but for about 5 days

It's quite annoying as I changed my domain on my VB license and converted it there from phpBB (where the theme was 99% done alongside the wp)

i took a look at your site and sent you some CSS codes that you want to change and also i would make a seperate CSS for your menu for the li cause if you modify that it affects the whole forum . that is where you can control more of the menu. Hope that gets you going in the right direction. i believe once you do that you should have what you want . i will post the changes after you made them.

I have taken a very quick approach of laying the header image from the vb over another background of white which is 5px longer at the bottom and adding another 5px on CSS header height.
