You know what i have just noticed about this Paypal Donations.. When u add a button, i don't see an option on where you can edit the button.. you can go to the "view all active" or "view all inactive button" acp click on that and it should show you radio buttons and then View then edit and then update

yo i changed servers and all of a sudden the donation worked automatically. i don't have to do shit now. all i did was move from godaddy to another server. i don't have the slightest idea why that made a difference

You need to edit the XML file as noted twice in this thread. Something about the newer VB version wants all lower case "vbulletin" as opposed to "vBulletin"

Please explain in detail as to what you are reffering to. I am no programmer by any means. My story is 2 forums on 2 different servers. 1 computer that installed and created both. 1 works and the other doesn't. Tried countless time on the one that still doesn't work and still the member are not recognised after they make a donation. You are the first to mention GD Libraries and CURL capabilities.

Choose "yes" to use Top Donors on your site donors listing, or "no" to use Last Donors.

i got it working on 3.5.4 but i had a problem with the goal decreasing...so i reverted all my templates, uninstalled all my mods, and then reinstalled it....

look in your cpnav_paypal_donations.xml file and change the vBulletin to vbulletin....refresh your admincp

Hopefully next time they will execute a basic search and find the 5+ repeats of the solution for this problem. It saves everyone a lot of time when they can find their solutions without assistance.

i agree but why post anything at all if it isn't constructive? why not post..."search for blah blah blah" why be rude? how do you know that the person didn't all ready search? i mean sheesh this is 70 pages long...how many updates were done since page one? how do you know which goes with which? i mean heck you have people like me in here giving advice 25 pages back....i had no clue....don't have to be rude. lend a helping hand or don't say anything is my opinion.

Honestly, if you want to install the hack, you can buzz through the 50+ pages of responses here. For any hack I now read the entire thread. There are a lot of details and cool recommendations in these threads that don't make it into the final code or install.txt.

It is a GOOD habit to develop, don't just install something based on the description and don't expect things to install and work right out of the box.

how about a dropdown menu like "quicklinks" thats what i did...want the info for that?? i will post it.. just get rid of all the links you want n the navbar and add them to a dropdown instead...looks much nicer!

vBulletin needs to have a lower case b so it would be vbulletin instead. and its right at the top of the file ;)

AdminCP >> PayPal Donations >> View All Active Goals >> Select & View Goal >> Edit this goal >> Then manually reset the total for "Total Donations Received For This Goal" >> Update Goal

just set a new goal and deactivate the previous one. i think my previous suggestions works best and is easier rather then creating a new goal each month.

I am confused you are trying to upload that to the FTP and it wont go? thats all you should be doing with that file is uploading it via FTP to the includes/xml/ folder. that eidt you need that Geartripper mentioned which you can accomplish with textpad. Otherwise you should be good.

there were a few others here that had a similar problem. have you set up your Instant Payment Notification Preferences correctly and turned them ON?

Then we decided to set a goal so we created the goal and attached the existing button to the new goal... could this be the problem? that shouldn't matter. i've done that and mine still works. if you want me to take a look at your settings, feel free to give my account access on your forums. maybe i'll see something you missed, or something i'm forgetting to ask about. it could also be that you have another hack that is messing with this one. this PayPal mod is not friendly with other hacks at all.

there's several better versions in this thread, but i assume you mean the default one provided by the OP. what i would do then is uninstall that one completely and use the product i listed previously.

OK.... I downloaded that version you linked to.... but now I'm having a problem uninstalling the old one.... I couldn't find anything in my admin panel to uninstall it and it doesn't show up in the Products list... I tried going to the donation_uninstall.php page but I keep getting errors like call to undefined function.......

no, that's just the error linking to what user account on your forums triggered the error. sounds like something either might not have installed correctly with donation_phrases.php, maybe from the previous removal. i'm really not sure as i've never had any errors other the the ppverify one i first had the first time i installed this. not sure why phrases would be giving you an error unless something wasn't written correctly during installation.

Well..... I did a full uninstall, made sure everything related to Paypal Donations was gone and got rid of that database error... Did a reinstall and still having the same problem... I have had three people donate so far but their donations don't show up in the top donors list nor do they show up on the goals... I can add donors no problem and they go onto the top donors list but the dontation doesn't show up on the goals. .... This is really starting to peeve me off.....

i'm not sure what else to suggest. have you verified that your host meets ALL of the minimum requirements for this hack? verify the CURL support is available... that's the most common requirement that host might not provide that would disable this hack... and just to be on the safe side, can you post your CURL information here. would you also post a screenshot of your Paypal's IPN screen.

also, for anyone else wondering... this hack DOES work for 3.6.x versions of vB.

If all this thing can do is accept donations and not actuallu give th einfo it's supposed to I might as well unload all the bulky crap that's supposed to work but doesn't and just add my own link to a custom donation page with a simply PayPal Donations button on it.....

Skelp- have you tried installing this on a barebones test board installation? i noticed you have an Arcade hack installed that might be interfering with this hack. other then that, everything that i'm able to access looks spot-on. there's nothing else i would be able to look at outside of the AdminCP and/or your FTP directories. if you want to post some screenshots of your PayPal Donations settings, i'll take a look.

I'm gonna try to uninstall it though and reinstall using that version you linked me to earlier and see if that changes anything..... i went down to barebones vbulletin....uninstalled every mod/hack/ext everything....installed my vba and then my first mod or whatever you want to call it was this one...i installed it flawlessly...made the template changes and everything that has been stated in the posts about the v and V and made sure it was fine. I have not had a problem at all with it. I am very heavily modded...60-70 mods and i have ibpro and vbplaza and inferno rpg and and and.....just a thought you might want to spend the time and go down to barebones vb and then reinstall this first followed by your other mods

OK... I give up..... I tore down my site and reinstalled it bare bones and added the PayPal thing before anything else, tested it and it STILL won't add the donations to the goal or show the donors...... I am totally disappointed with this thing.

sorry for your troubles.. but please note that the one i previously linked to contains all corrected files and is not the same as the OP's. i'm really not sure where your problems are, but it might have something to do with how you lay out your directory tree as it's not in standard vB configuration. or not, i haven't ever really needed to troubleshoot this all that much as it installs flawlessley each time i try. i have it running on 5 forums using three different hosts and two of those are even shared (not that it would really matter).

EDIT: Had to uninstall it was messing up my User Profiles by moving the Last Activity selection to the right of the profile picture.

EDIT2: Aghh! It's still doing it!

EDIT3: I take out this code in MEMBERINFO template and it goes to normal, but it does not show the donate image. So if any one thinks they can help me get it aligned to the left of my profile pic instead of the right because it is also moving my last activity thing to the right as well.

sounds like you're using one of the 3.6 betas... just make sure you have that phrasegroup installed.

They are there. None of the images uploaded with this hack do not work for me on my forums. I am not using the 3.6 beta. I am using 3.5.4.

The images for showing the paypal seal, the donate buttons (after adding the buttons), and the donator button in the post bit for example.

Understood, but there are no file edits in this product. Upgrading from 3.5.1 to 3.5.4 shouldn't have affected anything in the donations system, I haven't reverted any templates. So it is something about 3.5.4 that is not allowing the paypal API to respond back to the site. Didn't a whole bunch of people have this problem a while back? Is there any documentation on why it doesn't work?

you need to create GOALS and then create a donate BUTTON to attach to that goal. when you set up the BUTTON, you'll be able to define a set donation amount or leave it at 0.00 for the user to manually select a donation amount.

you need to edit the big B to a small b in your xml file... read the thread for more on that.

Great mod there, works for what I need on my site now....One issue I have noticed though. When someone makes a donation to the site through pay pal, and is redirected back to the forum thank you page. It states thanks for your donation of 0.00 dollars. How can we fix it so it reflects what they donated to the site. If you look at the active donator page, it reflects it there correctly.

Also, if say a person has donated and you wanted to reflect that to something extra on the boards or whatever, or even give them a promotion for it. How can this be accomplished through this mod.

i think its been said that having this hack move users between usergroups has too much security risk. as for the thank-you page showing the correct donated amount... i have no clue why yours doesn't work, but mine does.

I have modified this hack on my forums so members can use it to buy vbbux. I am sure I could also get it to work for any points mod. PM me if interested...for a small donation I can give you my file.

Basically for every X dollars donated you multiply it by X points then add it to the existing points.

$1 = 1000 points...

then a $5 donation will gain the member 5000 points

I don't have this admin configurable yet but I could do that too.

Folks, I've upgraded from 3.5.4 to 3.6.0 and reinstalled the addon, using the latest file here, and added as per the instructions.

Strangely the old donors (from 3.5.4) are still there, but new donors (added in 3.6.0) are not showing up; even if manually added - any clues?

Also an unrelated issue is that with the upgrade my GD2 has stopped working, I'm no longer getting the donation graphic.

I just did a test donation on mine that put me over $100, and it shows the correct amount. If the Paypal payments are not automatically updating, there is a problem with your Paypal API setup.

That product was a port for 3.6.0 version of vBulltetin if I'm not mistaken. You are running 3.5.1. Try it after upgrading, or use the old installer. I personally recommend upgrading first.

I think he may have editted an old post or something. I've been following the hack for over a year and I don't remeber it being packaged as a product until 3.6.0. I could be wrong and just overlooked it. Perhaps if Andreas can confirm. It's definitely working for me in 3.6.0, so I still say to upgrade if it's possible because it will be that much less work later on when they do upgrade.

only if you really want to understand the progression of this hack that is already a couple years old (the core code hasn't been updated all that much since the 3.0 version). start at the end and work your way back to the start. every question that has been asked recently ahs been asked and answered several times over the past few pages. it gets old really fast reading the same questions over and over again.

Hi there. I'm running VB 3.5.4 and I have the mod running correctly thanks to the abundance of information in this thread. There is one thing that I'm having difficulty with, though. This is an issue with the VBAdvanced addon block, not the core mod for VB.

I can't seem to figure out how to get the "List of Recent/Top Donors" section to display names of people who I manually add. Is there a way to do this?

Example: I cannot donate to myself, but I would like my community to know that I am participating as well. So I manually add in my own donation. I update the goal and the progress bar updates accordingly. However, my name does not show up in the list below where it says "Our Last Donators".

This is only a problem with the VBA block, as my name displays fine within the actual mod itself when you click "View All Donors"

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again :)

As this was apparently released under GPL, I've repackaged it as a Product for those interested.

To install it this way, upload the Files from the Attached ZIP, import the Product XML and make the Template Edits.
I left the original HTML File for reference, so don't wonder that it mentions Files that do not exist, File Edits (no File Edits are required), etc.

SOme of the avatars show up....and some of them show the 'No Avatar' pic. Everyone that has donated has an avatar in the forums, but only 2 show their avatars in the donations.

I think I have located the issue but have no clue how to fix it. It has to do with the vB code on how it brings in custom avatars.

In the alldonors.php file, part of the code says the following:

This particular field uses the type of MEDIUMBLOB with attributes - binary and NULL set to YES as default (don't know why but maybe someone with more experience can explain this one).
All of the avatars that are actually displayed on the ALL DONORS page, have a filedata field setting of '[BLOB - (file size of image) KB]'. All the ones that are NOT displayed, the filedata field has this setting: [BLOB - NULL].

Any thoughts to those that are more 'code savy' than I am?

Under We are PayPal Verified! I am wanting the same kind of box as the top donors instead I want this one to be Latest donors, and have the same functionality as to set how many etc.

How Would I do this.

Or would someone be able to do this, im sure others would love it as well.

Ok guys for those of you that have been having issues with installing this mod on 3.6.2 vba 2.2.1:

I so far have got it working from a clean install, also using the vBA module on my home page. The supplied installer creates a phrasetypeid SQL error when you use the supplied installer. I used a XML file I had downloaded not sure who wrote it, and I take no credit for it. I think it was from the original hack not sure. In the zip file there is no name so I do not know who created it, but it installs perfectly at least for me it did.
Proceedure I followed is as follows:
1. Upload the files to your webserver as described by the orig installation instructions.
2. Go to your Plugin&Products in Admin cp =>Manage products=>Add/Import Product. Install the attached XML file. This will add the phrases,templates ect... "Do not use the supplied installer, donationtions_install.php". The XML file will install everything required.
3. If all went ok you should have the paypal donations added to your Admin cp. Just continue with original instructions

I installed the normal way and I got the error I posted above. I then took the .xml file you attached to your post and I uploaded that to my server. It said everything went well and good. I don't know if everything went well though because after enabling everything in the donor settings the donor link doesn't show up in the navbar. I also don't know if my install files of my old install (the one that gave me the error) were deleted. I know that the old intaller deleted some install files and those still might be on my server. I need help with all this stuff guys. Please help!

You do not upload that to your server.
Sorry I should have been more specific, You need to go to your admin cp panel=> plugins/products=>Manage products=>ADD/Import. browse for the file on your computer(NOTE if you already have it installed make sure you select the overwrite all files) import it into Vbulletin and thats all you need to do.:D

It seems alright just i don't have it on the navbar (dont want it there until its all finished) but I was wondering if you could imcorperate the mod to where when a person donates they get access to a special forum. If this is not possible is there a way to have payed subscriptions automatically put an image in the persons info like the donor mod. Pbnation.com is an example of what i am talking about.

If you are refering to the paid subscriptions on VB. The paypal mod does not use this it uses paypal and sets up buttons on your donate page.

Firstly you should create a goal through the admin cp, next add a donation button and have the goal you created apply to the button. If you add a donator through the admin cp then you need to edit the goal and update the amount recieved for the goal. When users donate using your button this will be done automatically, if you manually add someone to the donation list then you need to manually udate your goal for the same amount as you added for the user.

As far as the donator forum, you could set up a usergroup called donators with certain forum permisions, each donator that makes a donation would have to be added to this usergroup each month. The donation hack will list all donators that you can go by.

Can not say for sure but I had it working on 3.5 then went to 3.6.2 CMPS 2.21 worked for me. If you install this do not use the donations_installer you need to install the hack with the XML file provided by Andreas.
