Lots of mixed reviews. I was running this on VB 3.0.8 with no issues. Is there any major issues experienced running this on a VB 3.5.3 platform. I read the related post and came up with no credible evidence either way.

Yes there is, In the same section where you added them in you admincp
Click view all active.
Then choose the one ya want to delete.
Click delete :)

It's not working right for me... The user clicks the donate button. They make their donation. I receive the money. However, it's not updating on my forums. I wait a few minutes thinking it might be a scheduled task or something. It's still not updated. All of the information is correct. Some members are not displaying the associated icon that reflects a donation. Such as my account? There used to be a setting on the older version where a member could hide their donation, does it exist on the current version?

i notice when u upgrade you have to go resave their transaction like edit then save for it to show


and in user cp there is an option to not show their donor status

I upgraded VB to 3.5.3 and redone the donations stuff....
Problem is, i dont see the goals, buttons or out like that in admincp anymore :(

Hi m8 yeah the file is there, thing is it aint a standard image, it works off a php file then displays the bar.... I aint got a clue why it dont work anymore, it aint done for a long time :(

I dont really want to turn off the goal as i really like the feature :)

i just checked out your forums. your donations seem to be working fine... or are you manually putting in everyone's donation? i also noticed that you're missing some template edits in your MEMBERINFO, so maybe you're missing template edits elsewhere too?

I am manually inputting them. I can not get anything back from paypal. Even messing around in the sandbox netted me no responses in any of the categories. I was able to get an invalid payment once by calling the ppverify file directly.

I opted to not put the memberinfo display in....I doublechecked everything else. Thanks for the help though :)

This hack doesn't work. I setup a donation button and attached it to a goal. I've recieved 2 donations so far and it's not updating the "We have collected a total of $xx.xx in donations towards our goal of $xx.xx". It also does not show the transactions in the transaction history at all.

this is the second time I installed this the first time on 3.0.8 and after figuring it out it worked flawlessly but again I seem to have missed something, there is no link to the donation admin in my ACP, I looked everywhere and cant find it, last time I hacked the index.php and added it but cant recognize where to put it here. And when I manually go to the donation_admin.php it does not let me add a donation to get it going. It says no buttons are active. What am I doing wrong?

I'm finally getting around to installing this on my production site, and remembered that you had a way of editing the install script so it doesn't delete the existing data. In your solution you said to edit the product xml file. I looked all over and cannot find an xml file for installing this system. Is it in the hack zip?

erasing all that wont remove database and re create them....will only reinstall the templates or uninstall when you remove the xml

I have added this script to my site, i have a premier account however when i click on donate, there is no donate button to allow me to make any payments.

uhm i dont know :-/ i only use the xml.....i probably have the old version

try removing this

Does the current script delete the following:
User table donor and showdonor fields
Donation_donors history (old donations)

If it only deletes the goals and buttons, I will run the normal install and recreate those. I'm just concerned about whether it touches the data in the User table or the donations table.

Found the solution myself error is because its not compatible with PHP 5

in most documents it states

whilst in PHP 5 it must be

Since its only in every file at the first line open every file and change it. there are 2 or 3 files that already have it.


Also since i see it come back often:

As for the buttons (to which i've been looking blondely aswell)

when you've got the donate admin CP menu part, there is also a option for making donation buttons. Don't forget to make these or there are none!

Sorry, I read this entire thread a month ago and forgot that someone had release the XML installer. I used that, made MissKalunji's edits to clear the IF EXISTS DROP nonsense, and everything is working properly.

Does anyone see any reason why I can't add a date-time timestamp column to the donation_donors table? I want to record when the last donation for a member was taken. What will happen when someone who has already donated comes and donates again? Will it just increment the time? I have it set to a timestamp value, so I know it will set it properly, I am just wondering what will happen when I get a second donation from someone and it has to edit the record.

Yep its not on sandbox and it is active otherwise people wouldn't be able to donate.

Have you set the path to your ppverify.php (or summit) in your account at paypall? AND in the settings of the donations? because for me it works perfectly....

yes, refunds will show as an invalid transaction. this has been pointed out in an earlier post of this thread... at least once by myself.

i quickly broswed your forums again. you seem to have a lot of hacks goin' on there. this particular hack is not friendly with other hacks during the install. i'm nto sure why, but if your templates are in any way modified, sometimes this PayPal Donations installer won't correctly modify your templates. you may want to verify that everything has been done correctly.

Anyone run into the error where a user donates, it tells the user they donated $0, and they dont show up on the donors page?

any suggestions?
if a user donates $0, they should not show up on the donors page as they haven't actually donated a positive amount. invalid transactions sometimes can show as a ZERO donation. the problem could be on the users end, if they didn't have any money in their paypal account to their session timing out. the problem is not necessarily on your end.

i quickly broswed your forums again. you seem to have a lot of hacks goin' on there. this particular hack is not friendly with other hacks during the install. i'm nto sure why, but if your templates are in any way modified, sometimes this PayPal Donations installer won't correctly modify your templates. you may want to verify that everything has been done correctly.

that could be the problem... if you did a full upgrade, you will have to reinstall this again as a full upgrade includes newer versions of many php files.

just did a full uninstall and reinstall and no dice.. i got rid of that blank/invalid transaction and still same thing..

Nah, actually in the header.. i.e under the navigation. I ideally need to to show on every page. We're having a major push (we have a BIG forum, so are in need of a cluster upgrade, for which we are asking for the setup fee, as a contribution from our dedicated users =)).

Having it show on all pages (bar the front one), should get us to our target a lot quicker :)

ok, what i should've said was that although the ppverify issue is a common problem (but not for everyone), there is no definate fix for it. make sure you have your IPN set at Paypal, that you're not in sandbox, that you have the correct type of paypal account (not personal), that you have the correct ppverify.php page loaded and linked to correctly in the AdminCP Paypal Donation settings, etc. also note, this hack is not friendly with other hacks so if you have a heavily hacked board, you may have problems. on a clean vB install, i can get this hack up and running withing ten minutes with zero problems any day of the week. as for adding the donation link, yes that has been answered a million times with an instructional walk-through zip attached in a few posts. you need to add a donation link somewhere on your site, most often in the navbar. as for the donation goal not being affected... that again could be the result of a many things. the vBA module itself is not perfect and has its flaws. or it could be something simple like the module not being linked to the goal. if all your checks and rechecks fail and your positive that your paypal account is set up correctly, i'd be willing to take a look at your settings. just PM me an account username w/ login that has apporpriate access. i'll have some freetime this afternoon 2:30 - 4:00PM (PST).

do you want to remove their complete donation transaction, or just their Donor "badge"? either can be done without a CRON job via the AdminCP or database repectively.

when upgrading vB, it installs fresh copies of files that this hack originally edited during the install. you'll have to you the xml plugin provided earlier to get everything to show again. i think it's back around page 15 or 16.

Thanks for the fast responce Gear. Ok upon further review of my problem I took at look at the message that was given.

I ended up uninstalling it and reinstalling the hack...carefully watched the template donation_paypalipn when it was installed and was successfull. Went through setting up the goal and buttons again and tested the ppverify.php and now I am the proud owner of a white blank screen. So my thinking is the donations_paypalipn template was corrupted and couldn't be read/accessed. Gonna play with it when I get off work and send some cash through to see if it truely is fixed.

This is my second install for this hack and I got spoiled on the first one cause that one too only took me 10 mins to install.

As for a lot of hacks.....I just the double nav bar.

EDIT : Well that blows my theory all to hell. I just tried donating $1 and the transaction went through to paypal alright but I got no recognition that there was any donation made. Figuring I had a bench mark to work off of I checked out the other site where I first installed this and successfully got it working and it still works 100%. But I did a check on the ppverify.php and I'll be a monkey's uncle......(slaps face like Curly on the 3 Stooges) this is what I got

and yet it works. I am more lost then when I started and I am by no means a coder.

Ok I found that if you try to test your ppverify.php it ends up creating a dead link which in turn gets you the error that I've been making above. I've access the db and deleted it and it comes back every time I try it out ie .com/ppverify.php So I am completely in the dark as to why I now have 2 sites with the same hacks with no errors on either and yet one works the way it should and the other does not. Still not recognizing the members that donated or adjusts my goal at all.
Next step is to uninstall everything and delete all templates and .xml and start over. Wish me luck

Just remove the donor badge, but I want it to happen automatically.

cron job runs daily
selects all users that are currently donors
checks their latest donation and compairs the datetime of the donation + x seconds per cent of donation with the current datetime.
if its less then 0 the user.donor flag

I got it working again by just reinstalling everything. I when I upgraded to 3.5.3 I lost everything. I know I'm missing something, can someone point me in the right direction and tell me what to do when I upgrade to the next VB? I'm sure its something simple.

Does anyone actually know coding? I mean its one thing to know how to fix a broken link but its another to understand why and how it got broken. I'm trying to find out why the ppverify.php is not working, (if that is my problem) why the hack works perfectly in every other aspect except in my eyes but the most glorified part letting the members brag a little to let everyone know that they donated doesn't. This is a great hack but useless to me if this function does not work.

Is there someone or somewhere that we can take this and show them this so they can fix it and make it install and run a lot smoother?

i just read all 60 of these pages looking for an answer to my problem where i the donation total is not updated. i have to maually update and add donors. but the numbers don't match up after i donate. it still says i have no donations in one part but on the bar section it reflects my munually added donations. same problem as the quote below.

I read through 60 pages and it is possible I missed it, but the two places on my donate page that show the total donated do not match up. I know the reason why, because I manually add several donors who send checks instead of going through Paypal, so I can update the amount towards the goal in the goal section of the admin, but I cannot find where to update the header that says

We have collected a total of $xxxx since Jan 2006

At the top of the page. Where could I do this?

This hack doesn't work. I setup a donation button and attached it to a goal. I've recieved 2 donations so far and it's not updating the "We have collected a total of $xx.xx in donations towards our goal of $xx.xx". It also does not show the transactions in the transaction history at all.

i must give mad props to DM he was mad patient through out the whole thread. knowing that the answers to everyone's questions were in the thread. he simply replied with help or a link and not talk trash to someone because they asked the same question that had been asked and answered numerous times. the problem is some peeps read it and don't know its the asnwer to their question. Knowing what i know now it is too obvious that the solution would of helped me.

seems to me that this problem of not updating the donors has to do with 3.5.3. i only seen one person with 3.5.3 to say it works correctly

Upgrading to .4 breaks it too, gonna see if a reinstall of this thing fixes it. Simply upgrading/reinstalling this mod deletes all previous donors just in case anyone else wanted to try this route.

Honestly I'd love to get going on making this hack work more effectively again, but my knowledge in PHP is very limited, I only know what I've done, I have the ability to read thr ough most code and understand it, but most PHP based application building I am limited on. well, their status not showing immediately isnt a big deal.. users will always complain.. im sure you more importantly would like it to update immediately; as i would also .. well

ive been working with a test board and i can get the users donor status to update and the goal updated, but they are told they have donated $0.00 which is misleading to them, but they can see the donate page and see they are there with the donation... so i got it to work about 75% now

what did i do? revert all templates and remove some products .. never thought id ever be confirming hack collisions happening... and to pick through this all is tough... too bad vbull doesnt have a sort of vbdebug mode to help troubleshoot..

AGAIN IM TESTING ON A TEST BOARD; NOT LIVE .. just so its clear :nervous: i wouldnt revert my whole live board.. well not unless it was a major issue

I have 2 forums up and running, one is at 3.5.2 and it works perfectly and the other one is at 3.5.3 and a member can click on donate and go to paypal and make a donation then it spits them back to my forums saying thank you. BUT it does not update or reflect on the donations page and goal that there was a donation. I have to manually add it and this still sucks because the goal is not affected. I have the same hacks on both which a to the very minimal. Still scratching my head on this one and can only conclude that 3.5.3 has something to do with it.

This modification seems to back rev 3 templates to 3.5.0 Is this what might be causing everyone problems?

If I have some time I will see if I can not do a Beyond Compare and see if we can not get a 3.5.4 template posted. Mine are all modified so can't use those.

Ok, going to need ALOT of help from everyone on this. I am NOT a coder and have extremely little VB experience but think I can figure this out with some assistance from everyone to test this thing out.

What we will work on first is the 4 Templates that this thing modifys and reverts back to 3.5.0. I have looked through the template modifyoptions and see only 1 section called Donations that has been added. I have now reverted my template modifyoptions to 3.5.4 and beleive that this code:

As I noted I am not a coder and very inexperienced with VB. But I do have developers working for me who have gotten this to work. Unfortunatly the code is heavily intertwined in to other routines so it is not something I can just simply post for everyone. What I am trying to do is not only get a deeper understanding of VB but also trying to help get this to work for others by sharing what I can of the pieces of code I can extract and hopefully with those that are more experienced make heads and tails of what I have and pull it all together. For me at the moment the templates are my first attempt of understanding VB. We all have to start someplace.

Thanks for the response. Did you ever have the issue of it not adding new donors when they donated. If you did have that issue are you aware of what was done to correct it. Your right we all have to start some place. i am pretty knew to this myself. so i feel your pain ha ha

To be honest I really do not know if the problem was there fromt he get go. I installed 3.5.1 and watched 3.5.2 & 3.5.3 released. Watching the bug reports I knew 3.5.4 was relatively close and decided to code freeze my site there and start development. My developers preform updates and test while I decide what is to be added based on duplicating my current system and new feature sets that are needed/wanted. So this kind of got wraped in to a few things instead of the stand alone function it is intended to preform.

So for now will work on the templates and will try to move forward from there and isolate the code causing problems and go from there.

Two days ago, I upgraded our vBulletin from 3.5.2 and 3.5.4. I'm sure this is why our donation page is now blank. Keep in mind, I wasn't the person who originally installed this plugin so I really have no idea what I'm doing. Since I'm the one who upgraded the board, I should be the person to fix the problem. Could you please tell me what I need to do (edit one of my vB files) so I can fix this problem? I'm assuming that the person who installed this plugin edited a vBulletin file. When I reuploaded the new vB v. 3.5.4 files, they overwrote the old files.

I'm jealous. I don't understand what the difference is that you may have done to get it working then what I may have done. Something is missing and I fear it could be as small as a comma missing somewhere. Either way this sucks cause there is no support

Well I install this and it failed big time for me.

There was no paypal donations menu on the left side, but was one in the vb options page, and I couldnt setup donations to select and I couldnt donate because there was nothing to select on the donate page.

For anyone that may need this. I have about 1/2 a million users on my forum.
When I tried installing this hack, it would hang and timeout, even crash my mysql.

To fix this issue open /admincp/donation_install/donation_install_tables.php (line 128)

Find:
$test = $vbulletin->db->query_first("SELECT * FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."user");


Change to:
$test = $vbulletin->db->query_first("SELECT * FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."user LIMIT 1");


open /admincp/donation_install/donation_uninstall.php (line 98)

Find:
$test = $vbulletin->db->query_first("SELECT * FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."user");


Change to:
$test = $vbulletin->db->query_first("SELECT * FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."user LIMIT 1");


What that line would do is load all the user rows into memory. If you have an insane ammount of users, it would hang (crash) mysql. So I basically modified it to only load one row, since that's all it needs to check if certain tables exist.

I really give up now and DO NOT recommend this hack to anyone. Its not stable and I can honestly say I've spent over 15 hours over a few months on this alone with nothing to show.

This is what I did today. Realizing that I had a few issues with my forums I contacted vbulletin support. Their suggestion was to disable all plug-ins and delete all hacks. I did that and still had issues. Next I was suggested to create a completely new style and all templates would be default. I did this and it seemed to resolve all my issues. Going ahead with a working style now I deleted all my other styles. From this I assumed I had a clean slate and no bugs or issues to deal with if I was to reinstall this paypal hack. Well I can honestly say that I shouldn't have wasted my time. After reinstalling it on a new working style I was still having the same issue of the members not showing up after they donated. I manually added the member and this still didn't affect my goal. Depending on how you have your forums set up there should be an uninstall file you use. I always had "problems" so I just manually deleted the files and reverted the ones that this hack affected.

Depending on how you have your forums set up there should be an uninstall file you use. I always had "problems" so I just manually deleted the files and reverted the ones that this hack affected.

When I try that I get this error

I don't mind deleting the files manually but how do I get rid of the crap this hack made, like the tables?

I really give up now and DO NOT recommend this hack to anyone. Its not stable and I can honestly say I've spent over 15 hours over a few months on this alone with nothing to show.

This is what I did today. Realizing that I had a few issues with my forums I contacted vbulletin support. Their suggestion was to disable all plug-ins and delete all hacks. I did that and still had issues. Next I was suggested to create a completely new style and all templates would be default. I did this and it seemed to resolve all my issues. Going ahead with a working style now I deleted all my other styles. From this I assumed I had a clean slate and no bugs or issues to deal with if I was to reinstall this paypal hack. Well I can honestly say that I shouldn't have wasted my time. After reinstalling it on a new working style I was still having the same issue of the members not showing up after they donated. I manually added the member and this still didn't affect my goal. Don't know what else to say, this hack wasted over 15 hours and nothing to show and I installed this paypal hack in 10 mins working flawlessly if anyone is interested. http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13602&highlight=paypal

In your ACP there is an option in the left pane called payPal Donations. It is under there.

okay well i am assuming this doesn't work with 3.5.4 cuz i followed all instructions....it installed....no buttons i searched and followed idrections... am i doing something worng? do i need to do the <?php on each page? i thought i wouldn't have to seeing as it installed....i just have no buttons....please?

i have no acp menu for this either...i followed directions after searching....i have now edited all the files to <?php except for the install files which i wasn't sure about deleting just yet as i might need to reinstall it(plus my uninstall for it doesn't work but if i run the install again there is a button for uninstall which works nicely). i have reread the whole thread...i see some 3.5.4 users got it to work. was there an upgrade that i missed. i did read about the upgrade but i don't see it...can someone please help me

one last thing....what if i installed the donations.zip? would i have to uninstall this one or should i just over write everything? or is it not a good idea?

unless you're more familiar with your database, i wouldn't mess with anything else. the above are the main ones you can dump.

well there is a few things wrong with this it dont always show who donated or log them as posted alot in this thread and im sure not alot of people want to read 60 some pages to find bugs but if i do remember one the xml has to be changed also from vBulletin to vbulletin

i have been trying to get the acp donations up....

In the cpnav_paypal_donations.xml


<navgroups product="vBulletin">I didn't have this on the top of the page....


replaced <navgroups product="ppdonations"> with <navgroups product="vbulletin">



i also added php after the ?at the top....

don't know but i never found this once anywhere.....\

only problem now is....how do i create buttons? i see the add buttons but i don't know what to put in the boxes....yes i really am this blond..

nevermind figured that out too...was just a blond moment or the inability to read the word "OPTIONAL"

however i really do not understand how to get this thing to work....i added my buttons i tested it and it wanyts me to login to my sandbax....why??? i did but i don't follow.
