Get the vB3 Beta, and the readme.html file inside will tell you how to upgrade.

THAT **** ME OVER! I uploaded the files over old ones, then nothing worked, so I deleted my old forums, cleared database, and edited config.php.new. Now it works, but I lost everything

You should really read the readme when dealing with something so big.
No such thing as too much precaution.

That's why you shouldnt use vB3 on a live board.

you know just uploading files isnt all that you need to do right? you need to run the upgrade :\

And you have to delete the vB2 files before you upload the vB3 files... as it says in the readme...

This is what the READ ME basically says to do:
If upgrading from vB2, do the following:
1) Backup your vB2 Database.
2) Delete all vB2 Files (NOT DATABASE!)
3) Upload all vB3 Files
4) Run http://yourdomain.com/forums/install/upgrade.php and follow the steps.
As you see, what you did, was completely wrong.

I tried running the upgrade it said to, it was missing. I could only run downgrades.

There is a downgrade script, but its not being released until vB3 is in RC or Gold state.

Jelsoft makes it really quite simple to upgrade their software... and pretty error free too if you just take your time, read their documentation and be sure to have a full backup of your database in case something goes wrong.
