Joecool, nope. Doesn't save the score after it finishes, it just says the end, lmao. But 666 is the top score no matter what, and that happens after beating the demons, so if you want you can make it save afterwards, otherwise people will just have to lose at 666 to have the top score :p

I had a 4, 6, and an Ace, which should equal 21, yet I lost the game to i think it was a queen and a 7, so it must have counted the Ace as 1...

You'll notice the reduced query count on the main arcade page, as well as some minor bug fixes that had been bothering people.

The bare minimum, SQL-wise, is one query per game. With a large score table, there is already quite a bit of PHP going on to process all the scores that come from those queries. However, I am thinking of testing another version that just does one query for ALL of the games/scores and then processes it via PHP.

When I went from the multiple queries to all PHP, the page load time actually increased, but the number of queries dropped dramatically.

Hehe.. Just like real casino blackjack its hard to beat the dealer. Highest score on my board is 12,000.. and it belongs to me. :D

I was playing BlackJack and got a higher score then my original top score, so I hit the send score button, and I got an error message that the score has been invalidated because I was cheating or something to that effect. I wasn't cheating.

Actually a few of my members have reported the same thing with several different games including the ones that came with vbproarcade. Nothing in the game itself should make it do that. Maybe a browser issue or something to do with the session timing out.

every game can report that error. Simply clicking the link a second time before it loads can make that happen, as well as reaching the game via your back button. I suggest when you enter a game, you hit refresh first, that way it loads and you know you won't get that error (at least i haven't yet).

There is a small code edit for the vbproarcade.php file that will fix that problem, look on the main thread, I asked about it recently. Also, you could just wait until v2.1 to come out and upgrade.

hmm for adding games I just right click the add game link and make a new window, then add the game, so I can reference the other games already install, then hit submit and refresh my admin. so far I haven't had any major issues with game installs doing it that way.

I had a problem with the Simpsons as well, but it wasn't the same. I just removed it from the arcade, reuploaded it, and readded it and it worked fine. Hope that helps :)

I've been looking for a better one but no luck finding anything.

Try this one. I made some more changes and everything pays even lower.. Pair pays 1:1, 2 pair pays 2:1, 3 of a kind pays 3:1, etc. With this version my members haven't been able to score more than 3 million.

Some of the games need definite revamps. Like shooter, the max score you can get is 4200, so everyone on my board has a 4200. And with paladin you can only get a 666. Perhaps with Paladin you could basically restart the game if you beat the devil, but the monsters could be 50% faster, and the speed could keep going up. With shooter, just need to add an infinte number of levels with faster targets on each.

n/p. You can use the html from any of the other games when installing a new one.. You might have to adjust the height & width, but it'll work.

After scanning and trying to alter opensource games i've found out that there are many ways to handle the score in games. There are scores who use text as in for example txtScore etc. and asp, xml kinds of scores. Finding the right variable for the arcade hack is in that case a very difficult task. Altough Flashtoolset can find somethimes the variable as mentioned in the tutorial, this is working for about 40% of the games. That means that a lot of games will not be available because we can't find the right variable for it. That brings me to a few questions.

Are there other methods to find and use the scorevariable in games?
Is the gamehash wich is almost always 5 a factor if a game refuses to load the scorevariable? How do you find a valuable hash in a game if this is not 5?

The idea behind the gamehash was for people to modify .FLA files themselves to contain a different value for each game, making it somewhat more difficult for somebody to cheat.

Still, though, it does not offer all that much protection, and may create more headaches than it is worth. The sad fact is that if people want to cheat, they will be able to, since the Flash stuff is all executed client-side. Anybody who knows how to edit memory or spoof headers will be able to submit bogus information...

My preferred method for finding the score variable in games is to use the loadMovie method in a new blank movie, to load the game.swf file.

Once you've loaded the movie properly, and using CTRL+ENTER to test the movie you can play the game and view the variables while you play.... thus comparing the score you see in the game to the list of variables. Using this method it is very easy to nail down the score variable, as well as every other variable and its purpose.

I have hacked several games, the major problem I am running into is that when the score is submitted it seems to use a POST method, which only allows for somewhere around 255 characters in the post string, and many of the games I have been working on have MANY MANY variables being posted. Still looking for a workaround.

I'm also still trying to figure out how to convert a shockwave game to work with the arcade, but I've made no progress in that department whatsoever. I am an actionscript GURU but a lingo AMATEUR.

There are ways to secure the score because casino's are using flash most of the time for their online games. How this is done i don't know. I've seen flashgames with their own highscore tables in it, so they don't need a database at all. A gamedeveloper on Flashkit is using textfiles and cgi for storing score data and that works fine with no problems. But when you want more security then this arcade hack will lift itself beyond the reach of many of us because it will be to complicated to edit the files.

And yes Osmosis shockwave is awesome. :) But understanding and using lingo data is difficult indeed.

Those online casinos using Flash most likely have an XML socket server set up to handle data, which Flash can communicate directly with.

There probably IS a way to get this hack secured, I just have to learn more about it and then find it. :)

How can we prevent viewing the games on local pc's because if a game is cool they just extract it from the temp and play it offline. And we want visitors to come for the games right? :D I've seen many (not opensource) swf games that are not playable offline or on another domain. How did they do that???

People could play the games offline, but their scores would not be recorded. Thus, I think that very few people would do that, when they might as well just play them through the arcade system.

Running the query does the same thing as adding the game in the control panel. Some people can't add games through thier CP for whatever reason so they need the query. But since you can add them in the CP you don't need it.

It seems a bunch of games don't even know variables are sent to em. Like X Breakout, hexxagon. That's also why it don't work on forums that are in subfolders.

I tried to edit the games to add a getURL function that take the incoming variables from HTML. It doesn't work at all.... I don't understand why since it worked in Funky Pong. (I forgot who did it for that game)

It's a difficult problem indeed Darkmeteor. Some games do have realy a gamename and url in the source that must be specified or the game will never work. Some games require an exact position of a button or scorevariable script. They load the score from a certain layer or level and if the button is not on the right spot it shall not work.

I've seen very wierd methods of launching the score data trough the game and eventualy to the point 'gameover'. Sometimes there is no scorevariable but only a small window where points are going up or down. Strange enough the small simple games are harder to modify because of that basic method of score handling. Or they have stunning mathematics inside like the Electrotank minigolf. That game checks multiple points before you can proceed and it will freeze if a variable is not correct. Horrible!

There's a pinball swf around with the name 'JungleQuest' and it's a great game but it's source shows no scorevariable and that's very strange.

Yep. But still 90 % of the games i've looked at are eventualy working. I must stop cracking games because the page is loading to slow. The real problem is the copyright and there often is no copyright at all because the author had never expected that his swf without the fla would load it's highscore in a vb forum. And these swf games are downloadable from many many so called gameportals that ripped it or link to it with multiple banners.

I've found out that a mail to the author almost never works, there's no respons or they trow you a list with unbelievable expensive games in the mail. Thank you ma'm. :D

That should be possible. Try this:

In admin/functions.php find & remove this:

$vpachamptext .= "<br>";


Then in the CP remove all the champ text for each game and just put the HTML for the crown image in the champ text field.

I'm thinking this should display the crowns for each game side by side. Let me know if it works.

NuclioN - just added Kite (good game), but it doesn't seem to integrate into the hi-score table. When you finish the game is just comes up with Check Scores . . .

I noticed a little green button (top right) which if cilcked just sends you to the hi-score table for that game, but you never get an opportunity to enter your hi-score etc.

Your're right. :( This is wierd, i've zipped a swf that is first tested and deleted. Maybe it's saved out of the cache or tempfiles. I hope this is the good one. :)

Just managed to complete the game, similar to Rigsby got an internal error displayed on the game area, then the screen changed to the normal XVoice screen with the following displayed:

no every other game works when u submit the scores and the auto submit also work however not with solitaire 4 it needs a submit score button added to it

There are games with in it an actionclip that contains the whole game. No matter what scorevariable, it gives that 'no gamename specified' error in button or framescript. It looks if the action of the script is lifting this submitproces out of the game so it can find no gamescore.

I would be happy to convert it, but unfortunately that scoring system wouldn't work properly with the arcade. The game ranks high scores based on the time it takes to complete the game and flips, so lower numbers are actually better. It would be sorted in reverse (bad scores/times listed first) by the vbproarcade. Thats the only reason I haven't bothered trying to convert a matching game before. However, it might be possible to add a standard scoring system to the game (give each person a certain amount of points based on his time & flips).. I'll look into it when I get some free time.. I'm not sure if I can make it work though.

Hm i can't find the scorevariable for that coptergame. I've tried _root.best and distance, _global.score, _root.score and score but nope. :(

Coptergame working, tnx evils1 to suggest a button. I've tried it the difficult way by adding the scorevariable in the end stage of the script but that wasn't working. The button is ok but the only location for it was the copyright info wich is replaced by it. If you wish you can add a small description about the author. ;)

hey my forum is running off a sub domain on my server and i noticed when playing using the sub domain it adds the /forum/filename to it when it just just point to filename.

EXAMPLE : http://forum.ragezone.com/game.php finish game goes to
http://forum.ragezone.com/forum/game.php

but when i use http://ragezone.com/forum/game.php it works O_o.

btw game.php aint a valid file just couldnt be bothered getting the correct url for the game. Any ideas?

I don't know what page its on but if you look back several pages I posted another version of that Poker game where everything pays lower which makes it very difficult to get such high scores. I'm using it on my board and the top score is less than a million.

HarryButt: I think that is the upper limit for the score field in the database. You might be able to allow a higher score if you altered the table to use a larger field. Not sure though.

This whole package is going to really take off in my forum..... I asked my fellow admins to play a couple of test games to make sure the scoring and everything else works ok..... and they can't get enough of these.

I added one game and will be adding lots more. Since I didn't find any new game crowns for our champions, I made up a few in different colors. Have the original 6 that came default with the install, plus 14 more.... for an even 20.

Anyone is welcome to use them if you need more colors. The gifs are transparent and the attached screenshot shows how they look on white and black backgrounds.

Was getting that for awhile too, and found that the error lies in the binary using a single quote within the binary that mysql doesn't like, and neither does the phpmyadmin sql parser. Yer better off doing it manually via the admin CP.

I realise this is the "Flash" development thread, but i've been looking at the system and can't see any reason why Java Applet games can be used on it.

Obviouly these games would need to be edited to work with the system, but i'm fairly sure that because of the way the system is set-up it could very easily accept java games.

All we need now is to find some open source java games (they are all over the place, i'm almost sure of it) and someone that can edit them :)

msimplay - actually java versions can be absolutely superb. There is an emulator written for MAME in java and it produces perfect arcade games in a java console.

The first version of homerun derby has some secrete keys that will make the pitcher thow a strike down the middle every time (the number keys, 5 throws an easy strike).. Its a little too easy to hit homeruns with that version so heres another one with the "cheat" keys disabled.

There was a bug in the original version that allowed members to manually change the credit amount to whatever they want by simply clicking on it and typing in a new score.

I fixed it and updated the original post. Clear your browser cache and download it again. Just upload the new swf file.

It's mentioned before...a gasmesystem that works together with the store/bank hacks to increase or decrease money from an account. If you win at a pokergame or slot the money goes trough a click of a button into the bank. If you lose money, it will automatically reduce the total amount of money in the bank..or it will reduce it from an amount that is first token from the account to use that for the game.

We will pay for such a system. Virtual money though. :D But if this will not get the attention we realy want to pay if all other options keep closed.

yeah, it's kewl... but what do i have to do so it'll load? when i've added it, clicked on it, from the arcade's home page, it won't load, i just get a page without the frame it's supposed to be in.

anything i'm doing wrong? i've installed it like Shad said.

This game is very annoying if it's the one I'm thinking of. If you hit it on a corner, it doesn't hit the way it should and sometimes if it barely hits the edge then its Game Over.

I actually found out that the game I was talking about was Pong.

And no offense but most of these games suck, can't you guys get any good games? Like the original Ping Pong. Or that Fly The Copter game.

The problem is that most of the people who created the really cool games aren't willing to share the source code (.fla file). Without this file and their permission we can't modify them. Anyway, you can find both ping pong and the helicopter game in this thread. You'll have to search for the helicopter game though b/c the list of games on the main page hasn't been updated for a while.

Nevermind I figured out that the arcade pass hack was for vBarcade version 1.
