i played it on another site and it had 3 lives, and yes it's an easy game if you know the trick, heh. But for those who play it for real it's not THAT easy. And besides, maybe people wanna choose between 1 live and 3 lives, that was there's two versions, lol.

I have been unable to fix the problem for about two weeks now. I left a post in the arcade thread, but got no reply.

After finishing any game instead of allowing me to enter in a comment it goe to this page: http://proarcade.php/ which of course doesn't exist. Does anybody have a suggestion that may lead me in the right direction. I haven't altered proarcade.php in any way.


this problem is still killing the arcade on my boards. I have uploaded a new proarcade.php, but it still persist. Does anybody know why it would redirect to: http://proarcade.php/ after playing a game instead of letting the user input a comment?

*thinks* i had the same problem.....what was it......ummmm.......delete the game and try again, only put EXACTLY the stuff the person who posted the game says. It's best to just copy and paste each part of the info, cause even a uppercase letter where it shouldn't be could mess it up.

anyone had a chance to update or look at Jewels? So that the score tracks properly? I'm able to get to level nine so far, not sure if you can get higher. But once the game is over the score page comes up but isn't tracked yet.

Using an SWF decompiler, I found that the score variable for Jewels is $jewelsscore.

I can change it so that you have 3 lives. It originally came with several lives but the game is so easy that I figured one life is more than enough. I can't do it right now because I'm at my work computer and have no access to any files or Flash MX, but I'll do it when I get home and post it here for you.

The reason why I need the SQL query is because I can't add the icon or crown via that method. We run Plesk, safe mode on, which doesn't allow for avator or attachement uploads either. The SQL query is the only way I've been able to get those images into the database.

Enjoy! :D Well, I have decided that the original game was a bit... "off"....

The AI has been tweaked to make the game more playable (the AI won't wipe the floor with you now unless it's losing, then it gets "mad" and plays better) and I have solved our mysterious "playerScore" variable problem. For some reason, the game clears the "playerScore" variable if the player wins. So I thought... "If the playerScore would have to equal the scorelimit for the player to win, why not just grab the $scorelimit value for the score board?"

Don't use $playerScore anymore. Use $scorelimit. I am also attaching a modified copy of Pong that won't submit anything if you lose. (If I didn't do this, you could set the scorelimit to 100 and watch the game give you points....)

So, in the Admin CP, change the $playerScore to $scorelimit and replace the SWF with the one I have attached. This has the AI fix, the score fix, and a couple other tweaks to make the game look better.

Ahh, as far as I know they are. I haven't really looked into that much, I just know that they're some fun games that I came across a while ago and keep returning to. Thought they might go well in the arcade, or at least some ones similar to them if these are unavailable.

There seems to be a problem with that Shooter game where you can only get up to 850 points. After that, the next two aircraft that fly by can't be shot, no matter how many times you try. We have about 12 users all with the same score, no one can get higher than 850 and thus can't continue with the game.

Anyone else have this problem?

It's a very addicting game and holds true to the BeJeweled ruleset very well, it's just got better graphics.

HINT: You can get higher scores and keeop the game going forever by concentrating on the top of the board. :)

Make sure the path and the filenames for them are correct in the admin cp. I had the same problem with a few of them until I checked that.

I fixed up the install for vb arcade to make it a bit faster with the arcade install, and changed the mostly template changes... I'm just cleaning up what I changed on my forum so I can add it to a zip.

I was wondering that myself for a while. Your score gets recorded and the game ends when you can't find anymore 3-in-a-row jewels. I got 10,665 before mine ended.

There's actually a little cheat in Tetris that one of my admins pointed out to me and could be why some people have ridiculously high scores. He says that if you pause the game as soon as a piece drops, it'll give you another piece, so you can kind of just choose what pieces you want and can plan out your whole game. Someone might want to look into that. I would, but...I don't know how. :)

here's Quick Shot Basketball. It only has 3 rounds but I think you can add more in the .fla, at least that's what the creator said. Anyways, it's nearly half a meg so it's a big game and the first round is really easy, lol. Hopefully someone can make it, peace.

edit: woops, the fla is 700kb and the swf is 109 so it's much better, lol. Anywayz, if no one else does this I'll try later.

I also updated the zip in the original post, so if you download it from there make sure to clear your browser cache.

This 'submit score' thing is great though. It reduces the amount of pathetic scores that're recorded and saves space (as well as making the games better to play).

Regarding the problem with thumbnails not working properly, I'm going through the same issue.. I also can't upload thumbnails properly from the admin cp.. I *dont* have plesk OR safe mode on, and I have thie problem only with this script. Uploading attachments and avatars are perfectly fine... The initial bunch of games worked without a problem.

When I run those full query versions, it works great!

Any thoughts? I can try to install it all from scratch, but I know I did it slowely and perfectly the first time. However it never hurts to try.

All games work flawlessly except thumbnails. I even tried to insert them manually via phpadmin editing the proper row and that won't work. The thumbnails show a broken image.

...Just a followup.. I undid all queries, and redid all 13 queries again...

Then I tried to install new games (asteroids, xmas boarding as examples) and when I install them everything works EXCEPT the thumbnail uploads.. I set the path in the little box (via browse) to the filename, then hit submit. Everything submits properly EXCEPT the thumbnails. I haven't yet tried with the crown pics uploads as I wasn't as interested in that but I may try that too.

Now, if I go into the database and manually set the filename inside the correct database row it shows perfectly inside proarcade.php as well as perfectly inside the CP!

Any pointers with this fairly minor issue? :D

Yeah, I get the same problem with the crown pics as well. Neither will upload properly or display properly on the pages. I have to add them directly into the database, and many times that won't even work either.. Anyone have any clue what could be causing this?

That's crazy. The risk is that your server load will go so high that the rest of the site will be slowed to a crawl, and if it gets too high it will cause your server to reboot, causing downtime.

Exactly, Kars. :) For those who want to do this, don't forget to edit the templates:

vbproarcade_arcade - remove the $arcadebit table
remove the table headers columns for High score etc. just leave the name and description

vbproarcade_arcadebit - remove all extra columns except name and description.

I had 170 + queries on the proarcade page and after the modified php and templates 20!! The highscores are gone but is there a way to list the scores somewhere without the load of queries?

Over half the games at the zone are Java-based. If you can rightclick a file and get the "about macromedia 6" popup, it's a swf. If you see it go 'loading sounds, images and notice an 'applet started' saying in the status bar, it's java-based. Even the versions at Shockwave.com are java games.

Tutorial: How to modify games

For those of you who want to modify games but aren't sure how to get started here's a little tutorial to help you out.

The first thing you'll need to do is find the score variable. You could just search through the code in the .fla and find it yourself, but this is how I do it.

I use a program called flash tool set which can be downloaded here: Flash Tool Set (http://www.flashtoolset.com/FTS/features.html)

Open the .swf file with F.T.S. and look up at the top toolbar.. Click the "aB" text icon.

You'll see a list of variables used within the game.. Most of the time it will list the score variable.. For this particular game you can see that the score variable is gScore.

Now that you know the score variable, open the game's .fla file with Flash MX (http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/).

Up at the top (center frame) you'll see the actions layer. Find the "game over" section of that layer (usually at or close to the end) and click it.

Now look just below the frame that shows the images and you'll see the contents. Up at the top right hand corner click the little list icon and select "expert mode" (see screenshot below).

Then insert the vbproarcade code in the text area.

In the top lefthand corner click file and then save. Now click file again and select "export movie".. It will then export your modified .fla as a .swf file. Upload it and test to make sure it works.

Some games aren't as easy so you might have to experiment a little.

On games that don't end by themselves (such as roulette), you'll have to add a "submit score" button.

Just go to the layer where you want the button to appear, then look up at the top and click window + common libraries + buttons. Choose the button that you want then left click on it and drag it to the scene. Once you have it in the scene just paste this code into the text area for the action:

Then you can add some text like "save score" on the button.. Don't forget to change the score variable to match the one in the game.

Hopefully this is helpful to some of you guys. I figure if more people know how to modify the games we'll have a lot more games to choose from. :)

Here's a slightly modified version of Squid Hunter if anyone wants to use it.

I added the ability for users to submit their score by clicking a button instead of the auto submit.

I also changed the score variable to $score instead of $points because the $points variable was submitting a very high number that wasn't the actual score from the game.

So if you use this version you will need to change the score variable to $score in your admin panel.

I know it doesn't save your score unless you save that many lives but what it does is its says you lose then it takes you to a blank page that says is not available and you have to hit the back button on the browser to be able to play it again.

I wassnt suppose to add any of my modifyed games here (cuz they all sucks) but i changed my mind, so here is the first of 3 i have modifyed. In the zip you will get:

Special note about this game:
like i sad before, the games i have modify sucks and you can ONLY get 30 points in this one, after that you have saved the earth and the game end.

anyway, i'm adding it so people can use it if they want ;) have fun! and i'm adding the other 2 games i (Spinal) have modify after i'm done with the Query of them (the rest is already done)

actually Starflight only has 9 levels. so you have to submit the score before that level is over. if you edit the .fla you can adjust the setttings. you can set the timer to like 100000 seconds so the game never ends. :p

A while ago i and some others suggested that the roulette game would inhance big time when this game can work with the points from the store hack. So, when you play roulette the points decrease your total points in the store/bank and if you submit the score it will not only update the arcade score but the points in the store as well. Is there someone who has tried this? Can this be done in the first place.

I edit Star Flight too, i really liked that game but it was some stuff i didnt like with the released version so i d/l the fla and edit it, this is what you get that you didnt get in the other one

You wont need to type in that anoying name/email thing in the start, and you will be able to save you're score when the game ends.

Removing the mini scoreboard only takes away 1 query for each game or so. It's the small scores next to the game names that takes about 4 queries each game.

No, I didn't do any other steps, as the only way I can install games is via an SQL query. I ran the Query directly from the Admin CP and it didn't work.

I've tried to convert several awesome games, but I can't seem to find the right scene for it. Like this one I just found which many would like, it's called Kill Kenny. You dodge the knives your friends drop at you. Maybe you wouldn't like it but I know a lot of people would, since they're such southpark fans and I know a lot of people loved Kenny. however, I can't seem to find the right place to put the code, i can't find the last screen from the game some reason. Dunno why though.

Then there was VR_Squad game, but the file had a bad .fla some reason. Then there were a few others, but I can't get them working.

Besides, if you want quality games, go find somewhere to download em. Most the good games from flashkit have been done already.

Hm..the 777 is not entirely accurate. As a matter of fact is isn't :p Submit the 50 default score works but after winning some points it won't. There are also two buttons in it with Asian signs on it wich brings you to a game in a game and when you do that, the scorebutton is gone.

Erwin, you've suggested a method to reduce queries right? What the modified proarcade shows is a removal of the scores next to the games and all the mini scoreboards under it. Can you make it in a way that the scores stay visible after the names but the mini scoreboard is removed? And does this effect the queries?

Then when done, go to your proarcade and you should see just the title, no icon or broken image at all. Go into phpmyadmin and go to "arcadegames" table, and browse. You should see down in the list the game you just added. In the column where the thumbnail should be should be blank. Add the name ONLY of what you uploaded into the /graphics directory and let me know if this works for you? If so, we have the same problem.

Now people might be asking themselves, well of course that should work if you put the thumbnail in there manually. Nope! If you do NOT put the name into the admin thumbnail textfield it will not work! I figured out where to place the code in order to make it forward to the correct page (forums/proarcade.php) but for some reason "score" doesn't work as the score variable.. It takes me to the scoreboard but no scores show up.

i've played the south park game before and if im sure you can only get a certain max score but anyway, i think that people dont really care about game quality anymore, i think that they just want to code anything just so they coded something, i know my first game i coded was a bad game, but im sure some people stil linstalled it and thought it was a great game, im just saying that like a month ago, people wouldnt just post any darn game they looked for quality in a game not just to code anything... did i make sense?

This is one of those games that those german boards have, but that one doesn't work on vbProArcade 2.0 (this one does) and that one doesn't save the score if you finnich the game (this one does)

zapper.zip is empty mate ! maybe the game is too big to attach ? or u havnt a8ted long enuf for it to attach or u hav correctled the problem now ! if so then all people that got the corrupt zapper.zip need to clear templ files and re download ! ;)
