Edit user profile fields from forumhome

Is this possible? I'm making my own customised theme and i want users to be able to edit a few select profile fields on the forum homepage (index.php / in forumhome template). I'm not 100% sure how to go about this. I know it might require php editting/template edits etc if someone could just point me in the right direction that would be great, thank you!

Is this a joke? Did you even read what I am trying to do? I do not want to display the user profile fields, i want the user to be able to edit them.

What will they edit if you don't display the profile field contents?
