Why User Status & Moods?

Sometimes, a simple "mood" isn't enough. DBTech's User Status & Moods mods lets your members put their current doings and feelings into a short message to be displayed next to their posts and in their profiles.

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available.

* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.

* Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.

Major Features

In-Line Editing: You can quickly update your status either from your profile, or from any of your posts, all with AJAX and all without reloading the page.

Postbit Integration: Members' statuses will show next to all their posts.

To Install: Upload the dbtech folder to your forum directory. Then upload the .xml in the Import Products under the Manage Products in the Plugins and Products area of the Admin CP.

I don't see hows its any different then any other mod. =)

Inline editing in postbits is already implemented :)

This seems very strange, but after I imported the product my ACP and forum drastically slowed down. All other websites were loading normally, except for my board. I tried several things, and everything was painfully slow, sometimes even timing out.

After uninstalling the product, everything is back to normal speeds. Is that weird?

I did not have that problem and I am running the same version. My issues were small compared to that... just with the postbit legacy.

I get an " Error: service unavailable" in VbShout Pro after installing this mod. Error dissapears when uninstalling so this is what I did to this mod for now. Pretty nice idea, though :up:

Installed, but with a few errors. Disabled until they can be fixed.

Status' show up like: "checking%20out%20new%20status%20mod" basically URL encoded.

Status text doesn't wrap in the postbit.

You get an error when pressing enter, you have to click update.

All in all, looks good, just needs a few fixes.

Facebook Style Status has been updated to v1.1, which fixes all known problems and brings one of your most requested features:
Ability to allow certain usergroups to edit others' statuses!

Please note that due to a known bug in another DBTech mod, Advanced Post Thanks / Like, you may experience problems editing FBStatus in the postbit. If this applies to you, please download the updated files for Advanced Post Thanks / Like and re-upload them.

I was trying to get the plug-in exclusive for staff and donating members, but if donating members are 'status mods' then they can also edit other users' status'.

nice mod, is it possible for the lines to disappear instead having default status and moods?

in other words, if someone choose not to set a mood and a status, the 2 lines in the postbit disappear so theres no wasted space.

It is currently not possible to do that but is something we would probably add in a future version.

Reverting to default mood is something we'll probably also add in a future version.

In the meantime you can just use the following query:

Moods long list looks bad and very unprofessional, That's why I'm not upgrading my installation of this mod to its latest version 1.2.0. Will keep an eye on future updates.

Meantime rather than not upgrading, you could upgrade and simply use the default list of moods (10 or so) =)

As stated, this is an intermediate release. The release with the new mood sorting system etc has not been released yet. It was released on DBTech at the request of some of our customers, and we linked to it here in case any of you guys wanted to grab it =)

Sadly, for the first time - I've become one of them members who has to reply simply stating "I can't get this working..."

When the pencil icon is clicked in both the Postbit and Profile, no prompt appears to enter in a status. Simply, nothing happens. I've triple checked the uploads and reinstalled the product three times but to no avail. The same is true with moods.

You need to add moods to a criteria. In the AdminCP, go to manage criteria and create a new one. Give it a name and add some moods to it.

Nope, just a small message pop-up saying 'Not Found'.

I actually had to re-upload everything once since I didn't do it right the first time and it broke my site...

Once I re-uploaded, everything seemed fine. I guess I can try it again, but I know I didn't miss anything this last time!

I'm currently looking into a method to fix this. What you can use in the mean time is to simply use the criteria system to order moods into categories. That way you reduce the amount of moods per drop-down menu.

An example of some criteria you could add are:

Blue: All blue images
Green: All green images
etc....

Hope this helps. An improved drop-down interface should be available in the next major update (hopefully).

I have set up 10 different criteria and in each I have 8 moods so I will not have to create 1 criteria with 80+ moods; although the issue is that the first criteria appears fine with only 8 but the rest have 16 and others have more and my last criteria has almost all of the moods together without me selecting them in the criteria manager; in conclusion they do not appear under each criteria how I have them selected in criteria manager. Is there any way to fix this or should we wait for the next release? Would be nice to know if there is a ETA on the upcoming release . Thank you very much for your time and help.

Can you show me clearly?
If you open the options for this mod inside AdminCP -> vBulletin Options you will see options for Status Prefix and Mood Prefix. Edit them to whatever you wish or just enter a blank value to remove them.

The long statuses is a known bug and will be fixed in the next update (which is coming soon).

In the meantime, if you go to your user manager in the adminCP you will see an option to ban users from updating statuses in the edit user page (1st column at the bottom).

Where are you getting this error?

Mine works fine, they appear but clicking on the criteria when trying to change the mood instead of opening up the pop-up to select the mood , it redirects me to home. Any ideas?

EDITED: Clicking on criteria or mood does NOT redirect me to home anymore. Everything works perfect. Only thing missing from my case is the CSS not matching the style.

EDITED AGAIN: Too adjust the CSS I just had to edit postbit_display_complete and member_complete to the values my custom style.

Sounds fantastic. With this, I decided to install this product.

Sadly, for the first time - I've become one of them members who has to reply simply stating "I can't get this working..."

When the pencil icon is clicked in both the Postbit and Profile, no prompt appears to enter in a status. Simply, nothing happens. I've triple checked the uploads and reinstalled the product three times but to no avail. The same is true with moods.

Any ideas would be great

Okay, further to this I've discovered that immediately following posting a quick reply to a thread, I can edit the status.

However, once the page is reloaded, nothing happens upon click of the pencil icon.

I've set up a test account on my forum if David (or someone else) would be kind enough to take a look.

When i installed, i get this error -

Hrm, this is similar to a bug I just fixed in the latest version. I'll have a look at it and try get a hotfix out once I have discovered the bug. Thanks for the report!

You'll need to take a look at the dbtech_status_mood_postbit and dbtech_status_postbit templates. It may just be a simple case of copying the contents of these templates into your postbit and postbit_legacy templates.

NOTE: This is not tested and is not guaranteed to work.

What your looking for are the template hooks ion your postbit legacy. On a test style play with your hooks and find which one is calling the dbtech_status_mood_postbit template. Once you find it you can either just use some html to align left center or right or you can create some additional CSS for it if it's not tied to other templates.

Forget that, conflict with postbit template for some reason. reverted template and i works fine now.

Ahh, you will need to create at least one criteria and add at least one mood to it for it to display properly. You can do this through the adminCP. There is a set of mood we have included with the mod in the Mood Imports folder in the zip you downloaded. Import that with the mood manager and then click manage criteria. From there click edit criteria and you will see a selection box. It's pretty self-explanatory from there on.

Yes, I have included a sidebar block with it. Just go to the forum blocks manager and add the "Status Changes" block to your sidebar.
