This is what I was talking about several posts above. this bit of code to handle IPN msgs sent from paypal, is what would automatically confirm the payments made and completed, then would mark them so in vB.

it is missing in this add-on.

I've only just become aware that this is what actually happening - not sure if it's a mistake in the phrasing or the code but its deffinately very missleading.

Well shoot, I just installed this mod and its been working great, and have had several users sign up for subscriptions, am I to understand the way it is worded in the Suggested donate amounts area is wrong.

Should be:
'5|6, 8|12' will add following options to drop-down menu:
-Donate 5 EUR and subscribe for every 6 months
-Donate 8 EUR and subscribe for every 12 months

Ugh. Overall good mod but i guess I'll find out at the end of the month if their donations continue

This mod is broken and has been for some time. Donations are not logged and users are not moved to new usergroups - in fact using this right now is probably detrimental because at least vBulletin keeps donation records.

I really hope Valter fixes this.

Paypal are locking down on the word "donation". God knows why.....

I have had my account suspended as, in their opinion, I am portraying myself as a charity by using the word "donate". Frustrating... might be worth using another word to save the hassles.

Whats the vb raw tag to pull the donation bar into the position of my choice. I tried using the tag I assumed vsa_paypal_donbar and it didn't work.

I want it below my forum stats rather than at the top of the page.

Yes all settings are correct and unchanged since it was first installed. Do you think an uninstall and reinstall might fix it?? Are there any potential issues with doing this?

If you wish to try with reinstall first backup donation logs. Table 'vsa_ppdonate' contains these. You may also want to save product settings before uninstall, such as donate amounts, or your custom phrases.

it shows as

Hi valter, it would be nice if you can add functionality to use decimal values not just integer values. One thing i noticed, if you use user ranks you need to update user titles and ranks for every user you add to donor group.

also the amount shown is getting decimal value truncated
the reason i need to enter decimal value is the true valu of donation we receive after removing the paypal fees

Check all of your permissions while you're there. You should be able to see any unapproved donations unless your permissions need editing or the donations never really took place.

How do you know that they did donate?
Did you receive an automated private message or email to alert you?
Did the donated funds arrive in your PayPal account?
Did they tell you that they'd donated?
Have you tried to donate yourself to see if that record shows up in the donators list page? (you don't have to actually donate any money, just go through the process until you hit PayPal and then stop)

If you're sure that they did actually donate then I'm sure the record will be there. It's just that you can't see it yet. Have you tried logging on with the vBAdmin account to see if you can see their records on the donators list page?

UserID# 1 = the Admin or vBAdmin account
I wondered if you logged in using that account you might see the donations waiting to be approved. Donations waiting to be approved are found by selecting the drop-down link on the Donation Goal Bar and choosing "View Donations".

If you can see the donations waiting to be approved using the Admin or VBAdmin account then it gives you some idea where to start troubleshooting to resolve your problem.

You need to be able to edit donation records so having them show up without approval isn't ideal if you have no editing powers there. Donations could appear even though no money has changed hands and so you need to be able to either approve or delete those records.

Okay, I've got a weird problem with this plugin that I can't seem to solve.

I have the donations set up as follows: 10|1, 20|3, 50|12, 100|36

If a user selects the $10/1 month donation, they get a message back from the paypal stating "The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please review the link and try again."

The $20/3 month and $50/12 month donation goes through to my paypal account just fine.

The $100/36 month returns an error from paypal stating "Invalid Regular period. You must specify valid values for the A3, P3, and T3 parameters for a subscription."

I do have a Business/Premier PayPal Account

I've dinked around with this every way I can and can't figure out where the problems are. I've had a lot of people try to donate, and am losing donation funds daily due to these problems. It seems they only started occurring with the release of vB 4.0.5. Before that all donation levels worked fine. Any ideas?

It exist, and there is exactly 7 columns.

I see in phpmyadmin that those who attempted are listed, but it will not display on the template itself...HOWEVER, I learned that if I manually approve those who actually donated in phpmyadmin by setting confirmed to 1, they appear on the view donations...So that way works, but not the admin part on view donations.

If you download the vsa stats the donations work , it shows who has donated but for some reason the mod it self vsa paypal will not show who has donated in X amount of days/months.

Would it be possible to include an option in a future release, to *only* change the displayed usergroup if the user is part of a certain usergroup already, or alternatively, specify usergroups whose displayed group doesn't change regardless of the "Also change user's "Display Usergroup" to VIP/Donor usergroup" setting?

Our members are part of one usergroup, and those that perform duties (like server admins, recruiters and forum moderators) have an additional (display) usergroup, which would be overwritten when they contribute their clan subs.

I installed another mod and this mod cause's this mod to display the Donate button twice when in a catagory. See attached screenshot.

I've disabled the donate button for now in options, but would really like to try adding it manually to if it just shows onces it entered manually.

One question, do enable donor status, can you do it if they offer a certain amount, for example $20 they get it, but if it's less, they don'? is it also possible that people who are for example admins, if they don't, they don't get switched to donate rank?

Well, the alternative to this is to use the built-in Subscription service which goes through CCBill which takes 19% of the money and holds on to another 5% for 20 odd days ... PayPal take 2% and money is in there as soon as the payment clears. You can set it up to PM you when a payment is made, and check PayPal yourself, it's not ideal, but then neither is only getting 75% of the donation.

Did I mention that CCBill makes you register to Visa before they'll process Visa Payments?

Is it only site Admins that can do this, or is there some setting in this mod that permits me to assign that task to someone else, such as the Treasurer of the donations fund?

Didn't mention CCBill at all from my knowledge, so I'm unsure as to where this comment came from. What I believe we are looking for is to have this donation system communicate with PayPal IPN so that when donations are made, this plugin can automatically confirm the money is in there and automatically take care of what you need it to do (wether that be giving people a new Usergroup or whatever).

the older version I used to use, had the ability to change the amount in the donation bar. We have members that pay directly and not through the system and it was great you could add or change the amount in the bar.

For some reason when someone does donate, it's not adding them to the donator usergroup I've set to their secondary usergroups.

I should have read more of the posts here and based upon those, tested more thoroughly before we installed this as a basis for a live charitable donations project for a 13,000+ membership due to start tomorrow ... :rolleyes:

For example ....

Usergroup/Membership Change (Optional)

Your Donor/VIP usergroup ID .... 17

Move or Add confirmed donor to your VIP/Donor usergroup? ... "Add User to VIP/Donar Group"

Also change user's "Display Usergroup" to VIP/Donor usergroup ... NO

Set up as above and when Admin CONFIRMS payment, nothing happens. The user is NOT added to the secondary usergroup 17 and when you check his user name in the Admin CP, no checkmark appears for him to be a member of that user group. :confused:

Of course, I can go into the AdminCP and manually ADD every user to group 17 who donates, but what was the point of putting into the mod an option that doesn't work, or am I missing something else that needs to be set also?

Edit update: Tried the "Add to Donar Group" drop down box option and it puts the checkmark in the usergroup 17 when viewed under AdminCP, but the user rank associated with that user group never appears. If you hit SAVE for that user in AdminCP while the checkmark put there by this mod is showing, the user is now shown as belonging to that group and the banner for that group appears. Bizarre stuff ...

"Donate" Links is showing twice below the nav tabs. This is also happening for VSa Advanced Registrations for the "Invite Friends" link. When I have either enabled, it shows 2 in a row, and when I have both enabled, it alternates. For example:

I have had to disable both, as I cannot figure out where this is coming from.

I have uninstalled one at a time, both in total, and upon re-installation, the issue is still in place.

I have it running, but all PayPal interaction is manual ...

Second, there's an OLD bug in vBulletin that's been around since at least v3.6, where I first noticed it when using add-on ranks. Every time someone uses PayPal with this mod and then I manually add (confirm) them as being paid, it does check off the secondary user group, but the rank graphic for that group doesn't appear until you do one of two things.

Yes this mod doesn't properly work in 4.08 for many users, including myself. It will do the basics of processing a payment, but automation to put users into proper usergroups and create payment and renewal logs no longer works and hasn't for a long time.

You may want to hold off on downloading until these issues are addressed, but again it could be any combination of things and particular hacks we all share that render this mod ineffective.

I received 2 donations. I see these transactions in vsa_ppdonate table but donations list page shows no records.
I updated a record as confirmed = 1 via sql and than that record appeared at donations list.

Installed this in October and it's been running fine for a not-for-profit charity event we've been running for members ...

All of a sudden, the total line went to 0 .. :confused:

It now says Goal amount for the year: 10000 AUD, Received: 0 AUD (0%) when in fact it should read Goal amount for the year: 10000 AUD, Received: 875 AUD (0%)

Anyone else notice this? Is there some way to get the total to reconcile itself back to 875 or re-total itself?

@ BadgerDog, try checking the acp settings for: Goal Amount for Month, Year? and Which day in month Donation Bar resets (used only when third option in above setting is selected)

The Donation Bar values might have reset because we've just entered a new year. You could go through all of your received donations and change the dates to Jan 1st 2011 I guess.

That was it....

Apparently this mod rolls the YEAR total donation value over on the end of the calendar year at Dec 31st. Unfortunately, we thought it was a cosmetic time frame and we wanted it to run for 12 months from date of starting campaign and keep the accumulated total donations value for that rolling 12 month period, so I guess we misunderstood the design ...

You should find a 'View Donations' link on your Quick Links and you should also see a link on your donation bar to 'View Donations'. Both will take you to 'forum/misc.php?do=donlist'

From briefly looking at the .xml file, it seems it doesn't display the unconfirmed donations at all. I wish I had an older version of this to look at and compare, but I think that part was taken out of this for some odd reason.

Edit: Seems to be restricted to group 6 for doing any administrative things. I changed all the references to group 6 to my group and I can't see unconfirmed donations. I can see the total increase, but that's it. Quite odd.

Here is the problem I've got HTML pages along with vBulletin so if I put a link on the HTML pages for donate to forum.mopar1973man.com/misc.php?do=donate and the member has already donated so I've got the link disabled so what happens is the link fails and travels to forum.mopar1973man.com/msic.php which just happens to be the smiley page.

Is there a way to fix the code so people can use links in the HTML pages to the vBulletin? :confused:

The only thing I wish this had was an expiration for donations that would remove users from the donate group you moved them into. That's the only thing the subscriptions system do that this can't.

From what i've seen the subscriptions builtin only apply to paypal, and you need a business account.

EDIT: Actually I removed the srt part of the paypal URL from the xml code and it seems to stop wanting to do installments. It would be nice if you'd make subscription installments an option in a future version. A yearly subscription with one lump payment would be nice (as it is now custom modified for me to do)

Now it would just be nice if it would PM them when their subscriptions run out (and I hope it already moves them out of the donations group, if not that should happen too)

Hi, I tried reading through 10+ pages of this thread to see if I could locate this issue, however, I didn't see anything similar to what I am having an issue with. I am on vb 4.1.2 and I am currently receiving an error on my first donation amount/subscription length, but not the subsequent amount/subscription length - for example I have 5|1, 10|3, 20|6 etc, but I am only receiving the following error for only the 5|1 parameter, the rest are fine:

"The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please review the link and try again."

Any idea on why this is triggering for only the first amount/subscription length, but works fine for the other amounts/lengths?

I did have it as a comma to start off with and it did not work and now it is back as a comma again. However I have since noticed you also need to have "Send notices to Staff when someone used Donate system" selected before it will work. I never selected this as I took it this would also send PM to your mods and supermods but I notice it does not.

I have installed this mod (along with several others) on my forum.

Could you tell if this mod changes anything on my forums database please?

The reason that I ask is that I have tried to set up "Paid Subcriptions" on my forum and the Paypal option has disapppeared.

I backed my forum up, and installed a fresh install on there - the Pyapl option was then showing.


AdminCP -> Paid Subscriptions -> Payment API Manager.

I have tried re-uploading all files and folders, with no images - I have even deleted the non essential XML files from my includes/xml folder. I made a new style with no parent style - cleared my cache, fored a refresh etc. But still the Paypal doesn't show. :(

I even uninstalled this mod to check, but it still didn't appear. (don'ty know if this mod has made changes to my database though).

I am not saying it is this mod, but merely asking you if it is?

I would appreciate your input, before I have to uninstalling each mod, one by one to try and find it. :(

I can not get the "Goal bar" underneath the nav to show up. I had ads displayed there thinking that was the problem. I removed them, but still nothing. Any suggestions?

I added the following for my users to allow them to donate $25.00 for a period of 12 months.

Upon testing the mod, I noticed that Paypal saw the transaction as $25.00 for 12 months, recurring for 12 years.

I modified the mod to fix this issue by removing the following code from the XML.

Looked though all 31 pages to find a cure for the white lines on a dark theme. This issue was posted feb 2010... how has no one been able to address it since??? D: Its the only thing keeping me from using this mod.

Yup, the Australian Government has begun enforcing anti-money laundering / anti-terrorist financing laws, seems they've cracked down on PayPal to get proper identification, particularly from anyone receiving "Donations".

I believe PayPal are currently upgrading their system/s and as users that receive donations get moved to the newer system they get flagged as a charity/non-profit organization and are requested to supply proof of ID etc. etc.

I spent a week of emailing and 2 hours on the phone with PayPal last week getting my business account sorted out with them.

Thanks for this amazing mod Valter.

When I installed it, the donation bar seems to be embedded within the forum table body.
I want it to stand on its own in between the navbar and before the forum body starts. What do I do for that? Could you pls help me with that? Thanks in advance. Bless your heart.

we got this installed and while people can donate we are unable to confirm their payment so the bar never gets updated.... cannot find anywhere to confirm and get a PM that says

Donate system has been used by Registered on 31-05-11, 17:49.

You should check this donation and update it's status on PayPal Donation listing page.

but when you click on the Paypal Donation listing page it takes us to misc.php?do=donlist which just list all our smilies..

OK, this is what I did to get around this.

In the XML file change

$vsapp_ppurl .= '&sra=1';
$vsapp_ppurl .= '&src=1';


To

$vsapp_ppurl .= '&sra=0';
$vsapp_ppurl .= '&src=0';

And delete $vsapp_ppurl .= '&srt='.$vsapp_get_amount[1];

Since I offer yearly subscriptions, I also changed $vsapp_ppurl .= '&t3=M'; to $vsapp_ppurl .= '&t3=Y';

It seems to be working, but I haven't had anyone make a payment yet. I'm still in the process of doing a test upgrade + customization of my 3.8.7 forum, which will probably take quite a while before I'm ready for the plunge.

Reimport product & select Allow Overwrite.

I had to enable PM to users (PM sender ID) under PM Reports in Options to get my email. (I get an email when I receive a PM).

Arie - Thanks for the xml edit. My biggest issue also was that this was recurring which was a nuisance and headache for everyone on my board. Hopefully your edits are a fix. If you find any future edits that might help out, please post them as I will be checking back religiously. For now, cheers for the work you have done.

Something to be aware of when using this mod. Paypal will add shipping to paypal donations. That is not a fault in this mod. That is an internal Paypal glitch. I have been fighting with Paypal for the last month to get it fixed and yet no response.

I was the same, until the donations turned into recurring donations without me changing anything. With that said, after making the suggested changes by Arie, it in fact changed it from recurring to non-recurring.

yeah I dont like how paypal takes money from each donation. they could just send the money directly to the email and it wouldnt take anything

but also, why is the plugin taking long adding pending donations on the donations list?

someone sends money and it doesnt show on the site that they sent anything for a day or whatever
