So....if my web host makes a backup of my website every day, is that the same as my mysql database having a backup?

Is that all I need to be able to install this mod?

Having your own backup is a better idea, that way if something goes wrong, you don't need to bug your webhost.

I'm a bit confused on one point.. is the automation only based on the criteria listed in that mod? I was hoping to allow members to request an award and have the system automatically give them that award without myself or the mods approving it.. just saves us time. Thanks,

There is no mechanism to allow average users to be able to give themselves an award, and I doubt I'll add it as that can be way too easily abused.

It would not have been released from quarantine if there was still a known problem with it. The Exploit Guidelines specifically say that a fix is checked by staff to ensure it's actually fixed.

I've never had that crop up in my testing and I always test by both upgrading from the last version (4.0.3) and as a clean install. I'd say that you customized the templates, except that the changes were made by me or the system. I'd almost say that there is/was a bug in the plugin system in 4.1.10. Revert the templates to default is what I'd suggest, but only after taking a backup of the awards tables just in case something goes fubar.

You should only use the xml file that isn't labelled new. The one labelled old shouldn't even be in the zip (a mistake on my part) and can be safely deleted. If you still get the error using only one of the xml files, then its likely a problem/conflict being caused by another plugin you have installed.

Sounds like you have enabled Template Names in HTML Comments. Do the following. Go to Settings - General Settings

Add Template Name in HTML Comments

Add the template name at the beginning and end of every template rendered. This is useful for debugging and analyzing the HTML code, but turn it off to save bandwidth when running in a production environment.

Set that setting to off.

I just applied the recent security patch and it appears to move the awards showcase in the postbit over into the post message. What template do I need to look for to move it back?

It appears its a IE browser only issue. But something changed in the latest patch that made the showcase css horizontal list to be undone.

It actually magically fixed itself, I think it could have been a session issue cause it apparently only effected me. Had other people try it on the forum and it worked fine. Weirdest error so far XD

I visited the page and get no such error. An http 500 error usually refers to an unknown http error condition when communicating with the server.

Squid it is very random, sometimes just going to the awards.php it happens, sometimes not even in the awards.php , this started happening after the update never had this problem before.

I thought it was something to do with server overload but my host said nothing like that has been an issue with my site.

They said it was caused by a php file.

If I come across any more information I will let you know.

Its declared by vbulletin, always was, but isn't accessible to the awards.php page unless you're including inlcudes/adminfunctions.php, which YaAS does not do by default. One of your other plugins is making a connection to includes/adminfunctions.php that isn't there normally. The real problem is the mod is doing it badly. If you notice the code you commented out is surrounded by an if statement checking if the function exists, so if their code was working correctly the construct_depth_mark wouldn't be (re)declared by awards.php. The fact that its generating an error with the if statement there means there's a flaw in the code of another plugin you're using.

Looks like you need to change your postbit settings. You may have userinfo_right (legacy postbit) selected instead of userinfo_right_after_posts (horizontal postbit).

If you do, I'd say maybe the CSS formatting for them is incorrect.

Squid like mohammad6006 mentioned, when you award someone their request they don't get deleted automatically. I use the awards interface in the admincp and I have to delete every single request manually.

Check with the default style. If the problem goes away, the issue is with the style you're using.

This add-on doesn't "get" the style at least not in the awards tab on the users profile. It just uses the code to get the style the the profile page uses. As of 4.0.4 the awards.php page uses the same code for retrieving style information as all other pages.

We currently have our postbitlegacy_userinfo_width variable set to 230px (default is 200px) because one of our global moderators has a long username. That seems to be causing problems, though. Anyone in our Moderators and Registered Users usergroups has this problem, most likely because of their smaller avatar sizes.

The problem only happens when the Postbit: Display Location option in the YAAS settings is set to userinfo_right (legacy postbit), which is what makes this odd, because we use the legacy postbit. If we have it set to userinfo_right_after_posts (horizontal postbit), it works, but some of the user info things, such as Location, end up being separated from the rest and go under it.

For example:
Join Date
Posts

Age
Location

...instead of:

Join Date
Posts
Age
Location

[awards showcase].

The only way to fix this seems to be by lowering the pixels on the postbitlegacy_userinfo_width variable, which we don't want to do.

Is there a template edit or something that can be done so it's based on just being under the user info and not the width of the user info area?

First, if that's what your award_request_form template looks like you are not using the correct one, which means either you didn't upgrade to 4.0.4 correctly or you customized that template previously and didn't revert the changes when you upgraded (or port the changes to the new base version). The templates in 4.0.4 have been completely re-done using the vb4 template syntax (i.e. {vb: .... } syntax)

Second, the template vbulletin.css (or its corresponding file) is already included in that template through the $headinclude variable. Similarly it is also in the new version through the {vb:raw headinclude}.

If it works properly on an unmodified default style, which I'd suspect it does given there are no other complaints, then something you've modified in both the default and the customized style are causing problems.

If I reduce the user info width to, say, 150px, it shows under all of the user info correctly instead of to the right of it for users with smaller avatars or at the avatar limit for their usergroup, but we want the width at 230px so that user with the Marceline username and the status circle appear on the same line.

Try disabling the plugin that adds the number of threads to the postbit.

EDIT: Remove any manual template edits it had you do as well.

This has actually been going since before those add-ons (Threads and Last Online) were installed. The postbit_legacy template was also unedited back then as well. Additionally, this was before you quarantined YAAS.

I was looking at some posts with the two awards from your screenshots in the staff induction forum as a guest and everything looks just fine. I even used firebug to change the width of the postbit to 230px and it still didn't cause the display to look like your screens. This leads me to believe that it's related to a plugin you have that does stuff when a user is logged in but not for guests, as yaas doesn't do anything with logins it isn't this plugin causing the problem.

I did also notice, when running xhtml validation on the page, that there are a number of validation errors which could also be causing problems.

Problem was resolved.

In case anyone else has this same problem using the userinfo_right (legacy) setting for the award showcase, here's what he said:

OK, I've added a temporary fix to the additional.css template which supplies a fixed width to the postuseravatar css class. Basically the problem was happening if you had a user with awards who had an avatar that was not as wide as the postbit would allow.

I'll have to look some more tomorrow because I'm not sure why its showing up for you but it hasn't been reported elsewhere.Here's the CSS he added to the additional.css template:

If you mean there's no tab on your forums then yes you need to add one manually using the navigation manager.

You'll need to remove the bronze and give the silver.

To remove a medal in acp go to Award System -> Award Manager -> Give Award to User and at the bottom select the user to remove the award from.

Just installed the mod today, seems to be working smoothly except for the automation.

Does the automation only auto approve requests or will it also send out the awards? Also when I set an award to be sent to a certain usergroup will it also send to people in that secondary usergroup?

@holomachus - The deprecation messages are just warning and can be safely ignored, they are just related to which version of php you are running and how it wants code written as opposed to how it used to want code written.

@Monstercat - automation does not auto approve requests that has to be done manually, it only assigns awards based on criteria chosen when setting up an automation job, also yes automation will give the award to people who have the group as a secondary membergroup

You can safely ignore the old XML file. The folder inside the folder is just how you're extracting the zip by telling it to extract to a yaas 4.0.4 folder.

The vb3 version doesn't have a known exploit, denoted by the fact the mod isn't in the graveyard and is still downloadable here. The vb4 version, prior to yaas 4.0.4, had an exploit which I patched in the 4.0.4 version.

Its a cron job which is set to run once every hour, so after a user meets the requirement it might take up to an hour for the award to be granted.

In your scheduled tasks change the details of the awards task as needed. The more often you run a cron job the greater the resources used by the forum.

When I get around to working on automation I'll see what I can find.
I just deleted all the awards that i had given out prior to installing the automation script, & it works fine now.. so it just wasn't reading if the awards were present or not, it was reading whether the mod/script had given them automatically before or not. I'm a little confused. I can't get this working on VB 4.2 the way I want it to work. I can actually access the awards page, but its not under the awards tab (doesn't seem to be linked at all).

Okay I understand that, but when I point the tab/page to the awards.php file, for some reason doesn't link the file to the tab.

I can reach that page (mydomainname).com/forum/awards.php but when I click the award tab the page is blank and is listed as (mydomainname).com/forum/index.php?page=awards

I am also using vBadvanced CMPS so there might be an issue there, but there shouldn't be.

Do you think its something I'm doing wrong? I see that other people have got it working.

From what I can tell it has a portal management system included, which seems likely to play around with the navigation system. Disable vba (and all modules) and see what happens.

Given I've manually created a tab on a default install and vba is another product you have installed and it changes the portal (i.e. navigation) . . .

I'd also bet to get it to work with vba you'd need to change/add some setting in vba for it to recognize the page.

Sigh, the fix in the current version only works if you do not have css stored as a file as the version of a file I included was an old version of the file. I'll upload a new version of the mod either later today or tomorrow, but in the meantime put the attached file into includes/xml and overwrite the one already there.

I've been looking into this, and I can't reproduce the time as your site has it. On my site everywhere it has the comma. Try checking your date/time display settings to see if that's where the comma was removed from.

Your a legend. Worked a treat and thanks for the update. One thing to mention is that you said to upload the css file and overwrite the file that in there well I didnt have a file in there to over write. Not sure if that is correct or not but its working anyway.

Quick question. I added the css file and all worked well. The psacing was back between the awards as you said.

However on the posbit it seems to have squashed it together a little with the YARS mod. After removing the css rollup file that you gave me it fixed the issue however the awards on the profile are back as they were.

I know you said that the file was a temp fix. Once the permanent one comes out will it addresses the postbit issue as well?

The version bit is known issue and I've fixed the script for the next release. Any merge conflicts are caused because you edited one of the templates. On the ACP home page you should see a message about templates in conflict go there to sort things out.

If you go into your admin cp and find your award settings to the left. Go down the award settings page and you will see a box to enter the forum number or a box to enter a thread number. If you want to set it up so that it adds to a thread youve already made then get the thread id number by clicking on the thread and in the URL it will display the thread id. Add that number to the box and and request will add a new post to let you know :p

In the postbit? If so check your maximum number of awards to display. If a member has more awards than this number then only some will be displayed in the postbit.

Why do you need to replace/restore the table? If you deleted it manually then you can re-create it manually, which would be the only way to get the table back regardless if it has been deleted, short of uninstalling/re-installing the product.

If you then issue the awards they are issued to the RECOMMENDER.

If you mean to show who voted for which option, then no not currently aside from doing it manually.

While it can edited via the Online Location Unknown plugin, not a lot people know how to do that.

The current activity name for it is Award System Viewing Award System's. May I suggest Viewing Page Awards? I think that makes much more sense. That's what we have, with the exception of Awards being Medals.

Any image type that is supported by browsers is valid, usually this would be jpg, gif and png and some other related image types (i.e. jpeg). There are no size restrictions for any of the images, but I'm pretty sure if you make the image too big things might not look as nice.

If there's no signature, its rather hard to put output into the signature area. There's nothing I can do. You can edit your postbit/postbit_legacy template to make whatever changes you want but that's the extent of things. Your other option of course is to display it somewhere other than the signature or force users to have a signature (would require a hack mos likely).

You don't need full urls for images, I use relative links and everything works just fine. As for image sizes I've seen some odd dimensions used as well, I just looked at a site with 130px x 200px award images and they look just fine on the awards page, the awards tab and in the awards showcase.

Understood, but that is why I asked for the OPTION to use them. Not the requirement. There are always protective measures a person can take w/ HTML, but if they don't want to do so, don't enable the option.

I thought I'd fixed that particular bug, but I only partially fixed it apparently, as new threads/posts when requesting/recommending an award used to have that same problem. I'll add it to my list of things to do.

It's something on your end, not with YaAS, as sending a request/recommendation to a thread does not put it in the moderation queue with an unedited YaAS installed to a vanilla vb4. My guess would be you have an anti-spam setting that is blocking posts in that forum, for that user, some other criteria.

See my last post as I mention this, posting a new post to a thread works just fine with an unaltered YaAS on a vanilla vb, so the problem is almost certainly on your end. You most likely have an anti-spam measure in place that's screwing things up.

There are a couple things to check, first that the forumid you're using to create the new threads actually exists and second that the user making the request actually has permission to post in that forum. The error is being caused because the threadid is not able to be verified and does not return the thread object (which should be an array).

This is telling, if when you aren't trying to create the poll you still aren't getting a new thread then there's a problem with the forum id. Either the forum id bad, or the user creating the new thread does not have permissions to do so or who knows perhaps something else entirely, otherwise you should get a new thread in the specified forum.

You can try to make the following changes to see if it helps track down the problem:

Change line 122 as follows:

No concern necessary, the changes are a result of my updating the templates to use the vb4 style for templates as opposed to the old vb3 style.

Just as a follow up, I have not applied your fix yet; however, I also have not had a single error (and no one has reported any errors to me). I'm going to keep things as-is, for now and I'll apply your fix when/if the issue arises again.

The only feedback I'm getting now is that "Granting" a recommended/requested award is not deleted from the AdminCP. Since I have always just given them directly from the AdminCP, I never ran into this before. And, since I see this is a known issue, I'll just ask them to be patient.
Then you didn't upgrade properly at some point as that was fixed a few versions ago. Reupload all files to the proper locations.

You likely have a rewrite entry in your .htaccess (or equivalent) that is redirecting the page back to index.

You didn't upgrade to 4.0.6 properly as that bug was fixed in the most recent version. Make sure you upload all files to the correct locations, paying close attention if you've renamed admincp and/or modcp.

Will not go into a long explanation, but you are 100% correct. Will get 4.0.6 installed again on both my test and live-to-be sites. And wear my glasses next time. :D You even stated that in the 4.0.6 bug fixes.

I don't know if this was fixed in 4.0.6 or not (I'm running 4.0.5, and since I've customized the system somewhat, I'm slow to upgrade), but I found that 4.0.5 does not cache templates that show up in the "usernote.php" page (of which there are two if looking at usernotes of a user who actually has some).

Simple fix, though, and I've already done this fix on my end.

squidsk, I've used this system on other forums but now have it on a new 4.2.1 forum. It works fantastic (even though I have request and recommend turned off) but I just kicked the first error for the auto awarding (by post count). Any ideas?
