If people can't understand that I have a busy schedule, oh well. What more can I say. I worked on the mod, I released the mod. I've released updates on the mod. I'm also working on more updates for it. I can't drop everything I'm doing just to work on a modification for vBulletin. Right now, vB is the last thing on my mind. If people base my reputation on here on what takes up my time in my personal life, then you can stick it someplace the sun don't shine for all I care right now.

If people want to think less of be because I'm not working 24/7 on this mod, and things end up coming up and it doesn't get released when I said I should have been able to, oh well, cry me a river. The updates I'm working on will get completed and will get released on here when they're are completed, and gone through some testing.

Don't like it? Don't use the mod. I also wish people on here would go back to first grade and learn how to READ and stop asking the same questions over and over again and insisting on flooding my PM box with nothing but feature requests when I've already stated BUG FIXES ONLY.

So to any of those who are unhappy with the support, and the fact that I have other things going on right now and can't work solely on this mod, then delete it, and don't use it. Simple as that.

Now, for those of you who are being patient, unlike others, I do appriciate the feedback on the mod, both positive and negative. When I have some spare time, I will work on this mod. It is still supported, I'm not going to give up on this mod.

I know you're looking for bug fixes only at the moment. Not sure whether this comes under that, but I thought I'd give the suggestion anyway.

Is there anyway I could left align the awards with the rest of the text in the postbit? I am using Style 2, which as you know doesn't have a border. I just wanted to make them all align towards the left (red line)...thought it would give a neater look. (Please see screenshot below).

What sort of edit would I have to make, just in case you wouldn't like to make this change in the actual mod? :)

Great mod, and great support!

I'll 2nd and 3rd the ideas for automation and mass awards by usergroup or userid.

I also saw that someone mentioned stacking awards; that could be very helpful for time-based awards. Intead of awarding one 10-point award for x number of posts and one 20-point award for y number of posts, you could just have a single 10-point award that gets awarded repeatedly and stacks so it doesn't take up the whole postbit.

My one other request for the future would be a way to integrate a user's total points into other areas of vBulletin, namely Ranks & Titles. Compared to some other forums I've used, I'm disappointed with the lack of flexibility in vBulletin's Ranks system. Being able to make a user's Rank based (in whole or in part) on his total award points would be fantastic!

Jan 29 (18 days ago) the author was having car problems.

Feb 1 he says he'll get to it "when I get around to...."

Feb 8 (9 days ago) the author said he didn't care about supporting this mod, and also doesn't care about his reputation here. He has a busy schedule, you know?

We haven't heard from him since then... I think it's safe to say "User Beware", first of all - it's apparent that the author is unreliable or has no desire to support this.

Second, I'm officially unsubscribed from this thread. It had a lot of potential and I would happily have paid the author to help me with it, but at this point it's not worth risking the integrity of my forum on it.

I have cron mobule that works almost like you want. It will give award to member of usergroup if member was in usergroup more 300 days(for example).


Add php script to the folder inculdes/cron/
Then in Scheduled Tasks Manager create task to perform this script at 6:00 am each day. It must be perform only 1 time per day.
Also you must create column with name daysin in user tab in MySQL database.

You must know usergroup IDs, that members you want to reward. You can see it in Usergroup Manager in Admin Pannel.
You must know reward ID that you want to reward users. You can see it in MySQL database in awarad Tab(don't remember name of tab exactly) My award has id 5 ($medal_id=5)
daysin >= 300 it means after how many days user will get award

I found a glitch on 4.0.2 patch 1. Whenever theres more then 1 page of visitor messages, it shows a awards link below the visitor messages, which messed up the footer completely.

I have just gotten around to updating one of my test sites to 4.0.2. I've found a few glitches that I have already begun to dig into fixing. One of which is the Awards link displaying on every tab within the Profile.

Just an FYI to everyone; I am also using this mod on a live production 4.0.2 board (http://www.clan82ndairborne.com), so any bugs/glitches encountered should be able to be confirmed more quickly, and an updated posted more quickly.

For those of you having issues with the display of the awards on the postbit_legacy, try selecting the "postbit_right_after_posts" location and it should display more neatly.

Double check in the AdminCP -> Award System Settings that you have a location set for award requests to be sent to (Email, PM, Forum ID, Thread ID, etc....).

I love this mod, great work!! I have not installed it yet cause i kind of unsure... I'm actually looking for a way to post a badge for participating members. I was wondering if this w3ould be able to retrofit my need. I have a site of graphic developers and i want to put a badge on certain members that belong to the development team. Would it be fair to say that i could substitute the medals with a badge. Or better yet now that i think about it i wouldk like to keep the reward system in tact and use it for every submitted art piece and give a reward base on that.... But I still with have the problem of the badge being displayed in the postbits. I'm definitely going to install this mod now... Can anyone shed light on the badge situation?

As i got to use this mod I think that it is a very awesome idea... I love the easy to use function of it. i have one issue I was hoping you guys could shine some light on. I have created badges for my developers and also other awards for the amount of projects submitted, also awards for the number of post the members would tally up. Because i would give the award at different times and I'm using the award mode #3 they all get mixed in together looks pretty bad. How do i keep them grouped together even though I might give the same member different awards at different times?

The awards are sorted per there sort order, if you want to sort via ascending order (from 1 - 100 so to say) the award you want first you would need to give the sort number of 1 and the last of 100 and all in between will go accordingly. The sort order is for the whole of the awards system, not just per category, say you have 4 categories you will need to put your categories in the order as well, like most important ones in the first category and so forth with your lest awards in your last category. I hope this answers your question.

How about you go back and find out exactly what I was referring to on what wasn't working.

As for people not being able to request/recommend awards. It's working on my development site and as well as my live 4.0 site. Make sure you go through the usergroup permissions, etc and make sure everything is set properly.

One important thing I forgot to add... This feature needs to be implemented!...

If an award is already issued, warn the "award distributer" that the following users have the awards after they decide to give them out, and have the option to cross them off the list, and continue giving awards out.

Can you implement this in next release please? we have a large community at www.brotherhoodofgamers.com and its hard to keep track who has what already.

I just wanted to say that I loved this hack on 3.8. And am very excited to upload it to 4. I just upgraded from 3.8.5 to 4.0.2. I had the yas disabled during upgrade.

Yeah, I had seen the attachments you uploaded in Page 21.
but it really doesn't work in my site.

I install it follow the below steps:
1. uploaded the files from the folder "upload" to the root directory.
2. import the xml file;

this is not because of this Mod!!

this is because your browser, what you have to do now is go to vbulletin.com then post a bug there telling them you browser and os information so they can track it and fix it.

I'm working on getting of the pesky database errors fixed where columns are not getting created during installation/upgrading.

This seems to be almost a hit and miss ordeal as some forums it installs on correctly, while others it says it creates the columns, but it doesn't. At first I believed this might have been due to using v4 of MySQL, but I had it happen on on a forum I installed not too long ago.

Cypher is my brother and with spring on it's way and here now, work for us has picked up. This has been stated before. This mod is supported and another version is in the works.

There are no template edits you need to do to show in the postbit. Edit your settings in the mod. As for it pulling your ID on request of course you do not need to tell it your ID, it already knows it since requesting an award is for yourself. and as above, unable to reproduce this error, make sure you are running the latest version of the mod and latest version of vBulletin.

Then you must have another mod that is interfering or an botched install of the awards system, Requesting and Recommending works as designed on 4.0.2.

Start to disable your other mods one by one to see if the error goes away, if not then 100% uninstall the awards mod and do a clean install of it and see what that does.

Looking forward to the above, and how to use multipliers on the point system.
This modification in user profile removed color background, and pushed the right side blocks until after the Awards are listed. I can live with both of those last 2 inconveniences for the benefit of the overall system.

Im so stupid, the reason people and i have been getting that error was because its asks for username not user id on the request award feature in the admin cp lol..

Also a feature that needs adding is a link in the pm that gives enables you to directly accept and give the award to the member without having to do it manualy....

That has been one thing that people have been requesting, was even talking about that with some of the other admins on a few boards I run and I will be incorporating that feature into the Awards System. Just not sure on how I'll implement it. But, that is on my to-do list.

Alright guys.

Just a bit more information. I've split up the products for the awards system, and the automation system. That way users who do not wish to use automation, won't need to worry with the extra database fields and what not.

As for the awards system on vB 4.0.3; everything seems to still be functioning correctly.

Got one more thing to finish up before release. Adding a page in the AdminCP where all requested/recommended awards are displayed and can issued, or denied, all on a single page.

Alright, try the YAAS-4 Upload with the one I just uploaded. Fixed a typo.

The reason why it's working fine on my boards is I had the Table Prefixes hardcoded and forgot to use the vBulletin Table Prefixes.

The request_award.php and other files seem ot have the structure of VB3. When will these bec upgrade, they have displaying problems because of this.

there is a little bug with the uninstall code for the last version: because it doesnt drop the table that is created at installation

I've also made two little customizations that could interest someone:

1. I've created an option to the awards called "Awards as block (line break)" to display some awards alone in the line (as if a line break was added, but in fact its a display: block that is doing the trick)

2. I've also created an option called "Is this award unique?". Its an option to awards that only one person at a time can be assigned to. So, if you give this award to someone it will appears on the postbit of only that last person.

Who was previously awarded will still have the award at his profile view, but only one person at a time will have the award at his postbit, like a "current champion".

No, cause you must give each one at a time a description and link url to that award when creating it.

Yes I did this myself also, and it worked. I was just about to post it here to tell everyone how to fix.

What I did was to manually delete (or Drop) the following 4 tables from the MySQL forum database:
award
award_cat
award_requests
award_user

(Note: BE careful when removing tables from your MySQL database! Only remove the 4 tables above and you do this at your OWN risk)

You would have to edit a template. I'm not 100% sure off hand.

You only have to reupload the award_request and award_recommend PHP files. If you upload the XML as well, it will update the version number.

Create competitions lets say for Post of the Month, Thread of the Month etc etc..
You can do many other things like Poster of the Month or whtever really depend on your site.
And give out awards.

I use for simply pointing out good members who stand out or bad members who are on probation it doesn't HAVE to used for just awards.

ie: Users who need to be pointed out the community as trouble makers get a trouble maker award. If they don't behave the mods know they have already had their chance.

If it is ours it is highly modified. And no we will not make ours look that way, personally I do not like it. You can get a hold of them and ask them if they would help you get the layout or do it yourself, but once you do your stuck with that version unless you keep doing it to each new one.

I'm guessing it's used only when giving award for usergroup change? So should I only use that field for putting in the usergroup id of the usergroup that the member gets promoted to, so when he gets promoted to that usergroup he gets the medal? Is it only on that occasion?

Sorry but its confusing.

P.S. I have an inactivity mod on my forums , if people don't check site for 7 days, they get moved to "inactive" usergroup and once they load the site, they get moved back to their original one, so does that mean the award system will give it to them again? Because that wouldn't be good....

Enter in the number of post for postcount that you want the person to reach in order to get the award.

Thats all that needs to be entered into that field.

No the automation will not give it to someone twice, it first checks to see if they have it, if they dont then they get it, if they do then nothing.

The "savecopy" and "receipt" and all that, of course, you can modify to "true" if you need to.
The "overridequota" is great because even if they have a full inbox, they'll still get the PM. :3
Setting stuff like fromuserid should be a no-brainer.
$recipients is... hrm, I think it was a semi-colon-separated list of usernames. But if you're only PMing one person, of course there would be only one name. X3

In Xan and Cyph have included a nearby hook in their script, you can just use that info in a plugin somewhere. If not, I guess you could manually edit your awards.php file. Either way, just change stuff to your liking and make sure you goot values for every variable mentioned there except for $vbulletin, $permissions, $pmdm, and $pmid. Also, if you use this inside of a function, be sure to put a global declaration for $vbulletin and $permissions. :3

well...you should already have upgraded to vBulletin 4.0.3 so you would have a lot of vB's bugs fixed, so yeah you will need to upgrade vB in order to run this version correctly cause vB changed things which made us change things in order for it to work properly.

Installed into my vB4.03 site and all working fine ... EXCEPT:

If a member selects either "Request Award" or "Recommend Award" links, they receive the following message:
you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I do have the "Allow member to request this award" and the "Allow member to recommend a member this award" options turned-on under each of the awards.
The "Award Category" is still set to "--default", so not sure if that's a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE: Got it to work now. Apparently after you install everything and configure the Awards settings ... you ALSO have to go to the User Groups setting in the ACP and allow permissions there too. I didn't see that mentioned anywhere.

Originally I had it installed fine and the "Awards" tab was showing up on the forum but when I clicked it I would get a 404 error. Also, the control panel was not showing up in my admincp?

I need to figure why I can't install it now and also why it wasn't working the first time I had it installed correctly!

I ended up having to get some help from someone with more experience in installing mods. I think the error was caused by a mistake I made when I uninstalled it.

It would be nice to have a more detailed instruction manual on how to install mods for those of us who are very new to bulletin board modifications. I found that the instructions were not very thorough in explaining exactly how to install the mod (where to place the files for FTP, what each file does and if it's required for installation, what to do once you've ftped the files, etc..) For some of the advanced coders this all seems obvious but not so much for us just trying to break into this business.

Please don't forget about us newbs, everyone was green once.

Originally I had it installed fine and the "Awards" tab was showing up on the forum but when I clicked it I would get a 404 error. Also, the control panel was not showing up in my admincp?

I need to figure why I can't install it now and also why it wasn't working the first time I had it installed correctly!

I just ran into this also. I ended up dropping all the awards tables from the database and reinstalled. Fixed it right up.... :up:

I found two problems....Just giving you guys a heads up. Screen Shots to follow.

The first one is an error message that happens when a user tries to request or recommend an award.

The Second is a display problem that seems to happen on an Apple OS. Its happening on iPads and I had a user confirm it was happening on his iMac running 10.4.11 and also on his iTouch.

I would like to fix this problem as I may just have to disable this mod until it gets worked out.
