Well, this is certainly an unexpected development. I doubt I'll be switching back from ibproarcade in the near future, simply because there doesn't seem to be a clear converter here yet to move everything back over (at least not for the current version anyway, since the import script linked above is from 2005), but I'll certainly be taking a good long look at this in future, especially now knowing that Brian/Tigga has his hands in this.

Wow - easy as pie to install. I've only been using VB for about a week now, this was simple.

After reading all the clutter and things to do when installing the "other" developers arcade version I was a bit sad. I'm glad I did another search and found this! Had it installed in less than 5 minutes. Thanks!!

I'm a bit confused. The install file directs me to upload all of the files from the "file" folder and place them into my forums directory.

Are you meaning to say I need to extract each file from their folders and place them manually in the directories?
... download the zip file.

... unzip the file on your local hard drive.

... in the spot where you unzipped the file, you'll see a folder named "files".

... upload everything in the "files" folder (a file named arcade.php along with several folders) to the same folder on your server where you have vBulletin installed (typically "forums" or similar).

... Import the "product-v3arcade.xml" file into vBulletin (ACP => Plugins & Products => Manage Products => Add/Import Product)

... Go into your user groups and set their permissions to the arcade (ACP => Usergrouips => Usergroup Manager => {name of group} Edit => Arcade Permissions)

... Have fun. :)


(Note... you should not try to install multiple arcade prodcuts on the same instance of vBulletin unless you have modified one or other to avoid any conflicts.)

For those looking detailed answer as to the differences between the two... they are simply two different arcade systems, not much more can be said than that. If you go through the various prior versions of both arcades here on vB.org, you can see the history of both. Both arcades have been around for a number of years, and both have switched hands over that course of time, both do the same basic functions but the fundamental programming behind them are drastically different.

@Deriel: Until we get IBP v32 game compatibility fully tested & released, we're holding off on an updated official converter script.

v3arcade is the best arcade system for vbulletin, it has been designed for vbulletin not like the other system which has ben originally created for Invision Board if im correct... v3Arcade has also much better design then the other one.. We released it now at this point to get the security token error taken care of for people running the latest versions of vB and to start introducing some new changes slowly. After we re-opened the site there was some good feedback from people in regards to what they'd like to see added in future revisions. That feedback, along with pouring through the various threads before the site went on hiatus status, will be used to determine what the next round of features to be added will be. v32 compatibility is one of the items ranked high on that list.

Thanks for the update and bringing it back. Been running since the 3.0 days I believe and thru all the updates, it has come right along. Fixed the security token error way back to keep it going.

This, IMO, has always been a bullet proof system to use and wouldn't consider anything else. It's the coding that has done it for me from the start.

I've been having some frustration with the layout of the ipbarcade, as it isn't the most user-friendly, and not easy to change the layout.

Your layout is much easier for new visitors to access.

While I can live with the layout you have, is the code and layout separated enough for non-programmers to modify the layout without breaking the code?

This last "update" was just him adding a french translation, I don't believe anything else was changed.

I'm hoping some of the additional mods people had out for this before are update or come back. I might download some of them from the v3arcade forums and see how they work, though they're from a couple years ago, has anyone tried them yet?

While I can live with the layout you have, is the code and layout separated enough for non-programmers to modify the layout without breaking the code?All of the HTML is contained within the templates (in the vBulletin style manager) so if you're familiar with working with vB templates, you should be able to modify most of the output as needed/wanted.

Normally your custom templates would not be affected anyway since importing the product's XML file puts the templates into the normally hidden vB Master Style. Unless you're modifying the templates there, you should be safe.

For now, it'd be best likely to just try v3A on a test install.

Is the v3arcade.com website down? I get this message when I visit the site:That is the old message from when v3Arcade.com was hosted on the older server. The site was moved to a new server a few weeks ago and is alive & well. Likely your machine or ISP's DNS settings have not been updated. If you're on a Windows PC, try closing all of your browsers then issuing the command "ipconfig /flushdns" from a DOS prompt to see if that does it for you.

I've done it twice now....... while I got the white page for games error sorted, I still cant see anything when I click "Settings" under V3 Arcade.... just a blank page.

Rather than selecting "ACP => v3 Arcade => Settings", try "ACP => vBulletin Options => Arcade General Settings" as they both point to the same place. If you don't see the "Arcade General Settings" from the "vBulletin Options" listing, then it means the product was not fully installed.

Great! I like v3arcade more than ibproarcade But i have some problems with games - If game contains folder "gamedata" - it`s not work :-( This type of game is not supported?

@Ljuysa: "v32" game compatibility will be in the next version coming up (1.0.9). It is in beta right now being tested. Note: The current IBP => v3A converter does not yet support converting v32 games; an updated converter will be coming later.

Ok, so this is what I did first. I took all of the folder called "files and added them into my includes folder. Then I tried to import the xml again and got the same error. Please clarify... where exactly did you put the files?

In the zip is a folder named "files" and inside of that folder are several files and sub-folders. Everything inside of that "files" folder was to be uploaded to your forums folder, not your forums/includes folder.

In other words, the "arcade.php" file for example should be (*if* your forums folder is named "forums") available at /forums/arcade.php and not /forums/includes/arcade.php.

You shouldn't upload the "files" folder, you should only upload the contents of the "files" folder. You should not have a folder called "files" when you look via ftp.

your arcade.php should be here: http://www.yourforum.com/forum/arcade.php

Then upload all the files to their matching vb folders you already have

admincp files to admincp folder
images files to images folder... etc.

Whats the word on the IBP converter? I'm sure there are many of us who have been anxiously waiting...It is next up on the list but with some caveats. We have version 1.0.9 of v3A about to go public (just waiting on any last minute feedback on the current beta) and that will introduce v32 game compatibility. After that goes public I will be working on an updated converter while Brian is going through the code line by & line (literally) as well as the templates for some code scrubbing that he wants to do for the next release. The caveats would be that any IBP tournament information would not be converted (since v3A does not *yet* have tournaments) and I understand that IBP supports PNFlash games while v3A does not yet. After the next major release, there should be tournaments included so the converter will be updated again at that time. There is nothing on the drawing board about the PNFlash games at this time. I have started going through the PNFlash games API docs, but not to the point of testing any code yet.

So cliff notes answer is if people are not using PNFlash games & are not worried about converting tournaments then after 1.0.9 is released an updated converter will be worked on. If tournaments are a *must have* item then the converter released after the next major version will be the one to watch for. If PNFlash games are a *must have* item, then there is no ETA.

This is an old bug.
Perhaps it can be fixed now in future versions *hint* *hint* ;)

Below it, add:

Using 3.8.0, everything uploaded, hack is imported.... it displays the "list" of games and the main page... but clicking on the game to play it ends up being a white screen..... that is well, empty. I've got numerous other mods on there, but no arcade system.

Anyone know what I can try? I did remove and reinstall, ended up being the same way.

I already wrote a little plugin for you guys wanting have a different default category (the explicit reason why I added that hook where I did) and will post it later tonight when I'm back home. The next code for the next major version of v3A is already being worked on and, in that version, Brian/Tigga is adding an option in the ACP to set the default category so the plugin method will only be needed with 1.0.9 for the time being.

Attached is a plugin for use with v3 Arcade 1.0.9 to allow you to specify a default category to display on the main page instead of the "Random" category.

This is intended only for version 1.0.9 since the next version of the Arcade will have an option in the ACP to specify the default category. :)

To install...

ACP => Plugins & Products => Download / Upload Plugins => Import Plugin Definitions XML File

Right now the plugin will use the "All" category as the default. Change the "-1" value in the "v3 Arcade - Specify A Default Category" plugin if you want to use a different default category.

well i have the games actually running on one of my forums, and i want to put them on another site...

is there a way to extract the game tables or something, then import them through phpmyadmin? if i export the game tables, the users data will most likely come with that like the stats right? if that does happen, i can drop them with a query command and reset all the scores or something, maybe via the arcade admin??

Well with ibpro I have one of the addons that every month it decreases the scores by a certain amount ( % ) that way it still makes them beatable (even to the ones who beat them haha)

But if I took them away completely every month I would get killed LOL!

@KevinL & Helmut71: An updated converter is in the works but at this point I am asking myself if an updated converter should be released now or wait until the next major release (being worked on by Brian) is ready since that will include new functionality. Complicating matters, the /forums/arcade/gamedata folder will now be a shared folder between the two different systems. Opinions are welcome. :)

In my opinion you may release the converter now (or as soon as it is done) - if it doens't affect the add on and the gamedata-folder can be shared easily.

On the other hand: a timeline would be interesting - when do you plan to release the next major release? Is it a question of day, weeks or months? :)

@Biker_GA: Gotti is missing all of the PHP files that are normally in the .tar files. For whatever reason, he has the game's data files (swf & gif files) but not the php files needed for the installation process.

No.. You need the entire zip/tar file.

@Connkid25: We tested with several v32 games on a few different servers, no problems. The "No Permission" error is thrown if the random numbers used to prevent submitting fake scores do not match. But... I noticed that your forums are in the root directory (at least according to the URL in the shot). Any chance you're using a portal (eg: vBa CMPS) or something else instead of the standard vB forum index?

Hello. We are not using any cms. Tested it with default vb installs from 3.7 - 3.8 and all give the same error when submitting a second score on another game or the same game. Like I said, you can submit only one score. After that, permission error.

Yep same thing for me tried 3 installs on diferent servers.
The strange thing are that on a clean install with v3arcade 1.07 and the mod from skhms to suport v32 games all the games work.

The new code for v32 games in the latest arcade ads a new cookie i think that it might be something wrong there, because cleaning tempory files and cookies sometimes makes it work again.

2. Is it a requirement to validate your install path in order to access the games download section on v3arcade.com? It seems so, but I just want to confirm. I think this is not a good idea since I already have IPBproarcade installed. I have to remove that and install yours to validate. This is a bit of a pain.

Submitting a score and hitting the "Play Again" link, no problem. Submitting a score, going back to the arcade, playing the same game, no problem. One of you guys/gals mind PM'ing me a link & username/password, along with the exact steps your're taking, so I can try it out first-hand?

It works fine with FF, but for me it has issues with both IE 7 and 8.
If i take a look in a cookie then a game have failed to submit i can se that it thinks that im not logged in.
I have disabled the "Clear the cookie" funktion from the code temporary so i can se how it looks then it succeed or fails to submit.

Pm if you like loggins to the sites to test.

If i force force IE to check for new pages every visit it works:D

Version 1.1.0 will be changed a bit so that turning off awards will be a global option.

However, the next major rewrite is currently taking place (Brian has been busy) and more granular options are planned (such as where the Arcade link is placed).

There are reasons why some of us continued to use v3A after the original developer put the project on hiatus status and those reasons are why I also acquired the full rights to the project (back in Feb.) so that v3A can continue to be developed & enhanced.

Strange i now that older versions of v3arcade had security tokens errors then you tried to change things in th cp but never then it tried to submit a score.

Every time I try to add permissions for the arcade to usergroups, i save the group but it is creating another group instead of saving the one I've opened. So I tried to set the group permissions for admin, but when I save, I have another group named administrator that I didn't want and the original group still doesn't have permissions.

Thats most likely a conflict with one of the plugins you?re using, try and disable them all temporary to se if you can change permissions.
Then start them one by one and se wich one of them will cause the error.

no problem with safe mode, but are your forum installed i a folder or in the root?
If in a folder try adding it like this www.yoursitehere.com/foldername/arcade.php

hm I've unfortunately still the trouble with this arcade here.
because I really can not help what I do I can not get token whom a high score to be transferred.

But before I come now to the latest version should upgrade, I prefer to write the times I have the latest version on it but I've had the vbcms (portal) with me on it. Now I have the portal to the start page of the Forum made, I've read in the vbcms.php renamed index.php and index.php in forum.php.
I hope it can help someone because the arcade is back

I installed this with no trouble, and the automatic link to the arcade is showing up on the default template (http://www.trinimacos.com/?styleid=1) but not the customized template (http://www.trinimacos.com/?styleid=2). I checked and the navbar_buttons_left template hook is present, the only difference is that code is in the header template instead of the navbar template in the customized template. I'll probably add it manually, but I was wondering if we could have the option as to where it goes. I'd like to try it under the Community links myself. Any way to do this?

I had over 50 games on the iBProarcade, but i upgraded to this because it is customly designed for vB, and in many's opinion more safe. Note that other than this everything is working fine.. but i don't want to have to switch back to the iBProarcade for many reasons. I will wait for a reply.
