I'm looking for a mod that will allow me to add "Latest Threads" to a non-vb page as my home page is no vb...

on my site I use also vBadvanced as Portal, and when I active the option to show the column on "all pages", I see it also on my Portal...as 4 column. (vBadvanced 3 columns + 1 for the Mod).

How Can I disable the column on vBadvanced Portal and show it only on forum's pages?

I've had this downloaded for quite some time now but never used it as it simply would not display properly on my fixed width board. That was until I realized that it wasn't the fault of this product but more the width of my TopStats Mod.

Now that I'm using this mod I have to say that I like it very much. The only complaint I can level against it is I wish it would display latest response in the "Latest Threads" block rather than thread creator. It would also be handy if it would display the username by usergroup color if at all possible.

Aside from that, great mod.

You can use vBadvanced to create side blocks and use them on your forum's pages. This mod is not needed.

I second this question how do you disable this mod from showing on the VBA homepage please? The answer of dont use this mod aint good enough! The reason to use this is the ease of adding in other forms of code to the blocks. So how about an answer please with a fix.

You can create custom side block with any code you want with vBadvanced. I don't know what is it you're trying to do. Did you try at least?

This thread is an extensive showing of fail from people. 60% of the questions asked here were answered in the original posting explaining how to setup the module.

I"ve now installed this in 2 different forums, a 3.7 and a 3.8 with no problems, and got it up and running in only a few minutes.

Please next time read stuff before you speak poorly about a module.

I guess I'm a huge failiure for missing how to manually install this on templates where the call for it is not .

I'm using a skin where it shows on FORUMHOME but when I select all pages, it disappears from FORUMHOME and ALL PAGES.

So, the failiure is not ours. We need to know how to manually edit this. If I were the only one coming in here asking this out of 100+ posts I'd feel odd but here:

The mod works perfectly on the FORUMHOME but when you select the option to display it on all pages it really stretches the page :) Do more of you experience that?

I'm trying it out, but for some reason it's only showing on the forumhome (with the forum taking up the whole width), but on the new posts page the new posts area is not max width, and the sidebar isn't showing up within any other pages (showthread, etc).

I see it put in after this tag when FORUM HOME ONLY selected <!-- / icons and login code --> but when I add it into the footer which is one line later, it disappears. I'm really at a loss.

I was asked how someone could stop this from showing on FORUMHOME, but still show on all other pages.

If anyone else is interested the instructions are simple:

In Admin CP go to Plugin Manager, scroll down to the Sidebar mod and edit the plugin:
[+++++++.VN] - Sidebar Column Parse Templates

Find the line:
elseif ($vbulletin->options['sc_lor'] == 2 )
and change it to:
elseif ($vbulletin->options['sc_lor'] == 2 AND THIS_SCRIPT != 'index')

And save your changes. It should stop showing on your forum homepage now.

We have installed a new skin and the sidebar is not showing on the new skin, only the old ones.

I am sure there are easier methods, but this is what I did. Backup up your templates before any edits. This worked for me, and may not work for everyone.

Anyway, I had the same issue. I only wanted the sidebar displayed on Forumhome and Forumdisplay.
The only options available in the settings were "Index and "All Pages." However, I didn't want a sidebar on Showthread.

Here is how I am displaying the sidebar on Forumdisplay too with only "Index' checked in the Sidebar Column settings.

I added the side bar column to my board 3.8.7 to the default skin. I purchased a blue pearl skin and the side column will not show up on the new skin why is that. It does show up on the default skin though. I did try to reinstall it and it didnt help. Any ideas

You can install RSS feeds and also twitter widgets in the "advertising column" of this mod. You can go into the plugin and edit the title of this column to anything you desire. "Advertising Column" settings and activation is located near the bottom of the page, in admincp>options>sidebar column settings.

There's also yet another column in this mod, "Friends" which is intended to install links to other sites, but is also fully customizable and accepts HTML as well.

I think there seems to be a few people here having issues with it not using a separate style than the one that's already being used with the forum itself.

I create a new style so I could customise it for the sidebar, but when I put in that ID into the options, nothing appears.

Is there any solution to this? Could be just some silly thing that I've forgotton?

Installed and finally working just the way I want it. Had some issues with the sidebar being pushed below the threadview when viewing single posts and answering, but found out that the sidebar had to be stripped for a <tr> tag at the start of the bannercode, that solved everything. :)

That will change the poll text to your style's smallfont setting.

Finally got it to work doing it manually..thanks! :)

But, 2 things... The "User Information" blocks shows, but it doesn't contain the avatar. Although the avatar shows on the index page. :confused:

Also, I can't get the "Latest Threads" block to show.

I figured it out myself.

If anyone wants to do this, just go to Style Manager >> Edit Templates >> SideBar Column Templates >> SC_User.

Then replace the Login Code with the following:

Most everything sets up and works well for me in v/b 3.8.7, but so far I've noticed that setting the width of the sidebar is only effective for members who are signed in. The width adjustment setting control isn't followed when viewing as a guest in either ffox or ie

ipad viewing when either logged in or not, displays the sidebar as sort of hanging outside the main body content.

Any suggestions for solutions are welcome and appreciated.

I'm having an issue that I saw many had earlier in this thread...

When I have this set to only "Index"... the sidebar shows up without a problem. But when I change it to "All pages", it vanishes and doesn't show up at all.

Any clue what is happening? I keep searching for different sidebar plugins, but this is the only one. And I'm not good enough of a web developer to write one myself. :-/

Found the code in the .xml file to change the font color in the poll, but unfortunately you can't just change it for one style. That would be a nice addition to an update for this product.

If you edit sc_poll_headinclude, you can change color and size of the font in every seperate template

I have lots of Forums so Latest threads are keep on changing and it is not use.

Because, if user is reading a thread in SUB-FORUM 1 but latest threads are showing from Sub-forum 2, 3 which user is not interested to view.

I want Sub-Forum wise, as per the above example user should only able to view Sub-forum 1 latest threads if he/she reading forum 1 threads.

if other user reading forum 2 then she/he should see only forum 2 latest threads.

Please let me know if this is possible

Yes, for me it did. If you use vbadvanced, you can add columns to any form page including creating different side columns, Upper and lower middle columns for any page within your forum.
