Is it possible to make this available by usergroups? Like if someone subscribes to the website they see it but not unpaid members?

For latest threads, there should be Prefixes enabled/disabled.

I am running this on 3.8.2. -- when I select the admincp option such that the sidebar is to display only on the home page, it works great.

However, when I select "allpages" such that the sidebar should display throughout the site, it moves from the side to the footer.

I've seen other reports of this problem.

Any solution?

Check Code. Something is wrong in your code.

Installed now on 3.8.3 but I can see nothing,no sidebar :(
Select the "skin ID" where you want it to show.

I'm having a problem on the member's list page. Since I'm not 100% width, the sidebar get's moved to the right out from the "normal layout" because of the alphabet that it's on the top of the member's list page.

I need some help here. After uninstalling this product, I can no longer access my site. I have contacted VBulletin for help but it didn't work. They have told me to come to you.

Look at your code more closely.

I had issues with this at first.....

But did get it to work just fine.

You will also need to remove some of the original login code.

Although if you have the stylevar decresed you might have issues with IE.

Nice MOD!

But if I choose "all pages" as I would, the vbadvanced CMPS will be shifted on the right ... (or on the left ) leaving a space biggest as the sidebar but empty.

Any other guys faced with this problem? suggestion?

Suggestion for the mod:

Order of the Boxes should be editable.
Also Instead of list of forumids to be included for Latest threads, option should be for excluding forumids.

Hello all,
Sidebar Column Add-on is great... except it crashes my polls.
When Sidebar Add-on disabled in Plugins Manager.... polls work.
When enabled... polls get error message "Invalid Poll specified".
:confused: Any ideas???

This mod is NOT supported.

I'm trying it out, but for some reason it's only showing on the forumhome (with the forum taking up the whole width), but on the new posts page the new posts area is not max width, and the sidebar isn't showing up within any other pages (showthread, etc).

I am experiencing the same scenario, sidebar only appears on my forum home page.

I have this mod installed on two forums.

1) http://moviepals.net - vbulletin 3.8.1, where it seems to be stable, effective, I have even toyed with adding some of my own columns, a nice hack

2) A new site I am building, from the ground up, http://playstationpals.net. This forum has 3.8.3 running and the sidebar only appears on the forum home page. This site also has vbadvanced installed, but the sidebar came first, wasn't working without vbadvanced either.

I'm at a loss, have learned to love the sidebar, want it to work on my new site, but as of today, will have to scrap it.

The poll doesn't work 100% For those of you getting the Invalid Poll Specified error, that is becuase you haven't been in the options for this and told the sidebar what poll to use in the sidebar. For mine, I told it to use a specific poll from a thread. Doesn't matter though because when the poll portion of this mod is enabled, it doesn't register my poll clicks. For users make them look like they voted and will in fact tell them that they already voted but the number never increments.

Would be great if that could get straightened out but otherwise I had no issues.

i had the problem too but now i have sorted out. I think you have installed Cyb - Advanced Sub-forum categories (or something like that) and its showing more than 2 categories at a time.

Decrease them to maximum of 2 and you will have no alignment problem or may be some other plug in is interfering

I've installed this mod and it looks great...and works great...with my vBulletin default style. However, it does not work at all with my custom style. It's entirely possible that it is due to Operator Error (I make no bones about being the VB Village Idiot when it comes to these things).

Could someone let me know if they have had this problem or if there is something I may have missed or messed up on the install?

Thanks! Reinstalled, updated and is working like a gem. The sidebar sits slightly higher than my top forum, but other than that, it looks great and works great.

which everside you use example i use right side sidebar
so i find
Sidebar columm templates >> sc_right_bottom

and add <BR>
After
<td width="10"> </td>
<td width="$vboptions[sc_width]">
Save it and it will be all lined up :D

Damn have a nasty problem I have enabled show columns globally but when you click peoples profiles this is what happens:

Hey Mike,

Tried the 100% vs 80% etc...no change. But I did discover that on of my RSS feeds was off Twitter and when I removed or retitled the threads and took out the bit.ly addresses, the width lined up with the others. So I guess if you have Twitter bit.ly type address in the thread title, it doesn't know how to split it to go to the next line...it just allows it to widen the thread and thus the column. Not totally sure this is all that was going on, but since I turned off the Twitter Feed forum from display...problem gone. ??? ... ??? :confused:

Yes I would LOVE to be able to disable the columns on
user profile pages
registration page
But no word on how yet..
Sorry i only run it on the Forum main page and no where else so cant help on this

Not a mod, just importing posts via RSS from a Twitter user's home page. I know when you checked, I had already disabled that RSS feed. Oh well, file it under strange side effects.

Great mod installed first time but after checking W3C i went from 0 errors to 49
I checked it using the W3C Markup Validation service can you fix this so it validates ok?

Check yours after you add this mod

So i have had to remove it until i get a fix for all these errors!

A bug with the polls if you have & in the poll titile it shows up like this

How do we add new sections? For example, I'd like to add a "Latest Videos" and use my RSS feed from the Video Directory-Remixed mod to place them there.

Im having the same problem. Displays fine when using default theme on all pages, but on the style Im using, only works when selecting to display on Index only. I want it to display on all pages. Any ideas?

Any way we can change the "-by [threadstarter]" to -by [lastposter] so that the Recent Threads also indicates the recent user who posted? I've tried to figure it out, but I'm terminally code illiterate.

Let me know.

Anyone got any ideas how to do this?

Difficult to see what's going on there. I would say at first glance make sure you have all the width limiters the same for navbar, forum display, etc.

Go to your Admin CP

AdminCP>>Vbulletin Options>>Sidebar Column Settings

In the blank where you list the forum id numbers, there is a " , " at the very end, (after 63). Try removing the " , " at the end.

Log out, or flush cache and see if that helps.

Hope this helps.....

Log into your admincp and go to the "Languages and Phrases" section on the left hand side.

Click on "Languages and Phrases" and then click on "Search in Phrases".

At the top of the page you'll see a "Search for Text" field. For this example, we're changing the "Advertisements" block name. So, type "sc_advertisement" (without the quotes) in that field. Then, click on the option in the "Search In..." area for "Phrase Text AND Phrase Variable Name". Then, click on "Find" to search for that phrase.

You'll then see the search results show you the phrase at the top. Click on the "Edit" button on the right hand side of the screen and you are now about to edit the phrase to display something other than what it is currently.

In the space provided, simply type whatever the name you'd like to use is into the "English US Translation" field. I used "Site Sponsors" as opposed to "Advertisement" for my block. So, I typed "Site Sponsors" (without the quotes) into that field and clicked save. Refreshed my screen and the block title has now changed!

has any one figured out how to fix it for vbadvanced? i use this for Index in the control panel and no problem. i use ALL pages, then my cmps_index.php is all messed up. it moves everything over to the right (i am trying to ONLY have a left column on every page). PLEASE help!

I really, really liked this mod, but it was causing too many view issues with 3.8.4, therefore I had to uninstall. If it is ever updated and thoroughly tested with 3.8.4 and custom skins, I'd consider reinstalling.

Got to be your skin. Ours is on 3.8.4 and works well all the time...even with me continually trying to mess things up. Does your install work OK with default style?

I use it on Forumhome only and mine works with 3.8.4 fine. And, mine is a custom skin. Although, some custom skins will have issues though from what I understand.

Honestly, I have not had time to test it further. My original custom skin was really old and out of date, so last week we totally updated and revised the site. Prior to that, I had no issues with the sidebar. Afterward, our tech said that the sidebar caused issues when resizing the browser.

IF I can find the time to set up the test board, I'll check this out a bit more thoroughly.

I rated this mod "terrible" and don't use it but I'm killing time so will provide some help for those of you who cannot get it to show.

Some custom skins need to have the template manually edited which should solve the problem for anyone who has it installed "correctly" but it doesn't show.

Styles & Templates -> Search in Template -> sc_

That will show all the templates mods you need to add.

Example: If you want a right column add contents of sc_right_top where you want the column to start.

This is sc_right:

You can try sc_right below the navbar and sc_right_bottom at the beginning of the footer and then play around. If you don't understand basic HTML you're better off leaving it alone.

$sc_user, $sc_stats, $sc_latest_threads, $sc_ads & $sc_links can be arranged as you'd like them to appear of deleted at your preference. $sc_poll is a mess and probably should be avoided.

That is the sc_right_top code. I found manually inserting the code worked.

If your column isn't showing up you have to manually insert one or the other. The actual code will work but I don't know if entering sc_right_top will or not.

Mod works fine for me besides my stats are off. Anybody else had this issue and solved it? Also, for those that claimed it showed latest threads from private forums, it does not for me.

I am using VB 3.84 and installed this Plugin...but it was not shown up as I wrote Style ID 1 2 3 - the display order....and not the style id....

For the other users: How to find out your style ID?

1. Go to style manager
2. Click on the Go button
3. On the top left you will see your style ID.

So - I agree: Before complaining that the add on is not working: follow the instructions, read the thread....

Anyway: It works on 3.84. Nice piece of software.

Caused a gray image to replace my normal background image. ????? how can I completely get rid of this mod so the background is not covered? The background on the forum is important to be seen. I've tried uninstalling and disabling and it is still there.

or upload your image to photobucket or who ever and get the html code from there

Decca87 got it. You can also add a series that rotates thru several images by incorporating the iFrames mod into this one. Here's how it looks: http://hearts4horses.net/member_forum/upload. Just let me know if you want to do something like that with your images and I can post the code that we use. Then all you'll need to do is replace the image stuff (like what Decca 87 showed) with yours.

Here is the code we use on Hearts4Horses.Com. Note that it uses a table format to place the iFrames DIV's where wanted. (you could actually use this anywhere you want to have the rotating ads appear) For the iFrames mod, please go to: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=209005 and create your iFrames code first. You'll note that in our Side Column, we have two different sets of ads rotating, so in the iFrames, we created two differents "ADVERTS" files: "adverts" and "CAadverts". We have found that using the tables format, we can easily add or change the SC advertisers section to coordinate with other promotions or events. Below, I'll paste our "Adverts" code which is really the key to us being able to use this Side Column Mod easily.

Installed in V3.8.4, the sidebar poll does not display poll results or register votes. It also cripples voting in the normal thread poll. Normal thread poll works okay when sidebar is disabled.

Any suggestions?

UPDATE

Installed the poll only from another thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=204586&highlight=sidebar) and it does the same thing. When a user votes from the sidebar, it registers the user as having voted but does not update the poll vote tally. Thus, the user is locked out from voting again but his vote is not counted.

Well that was allot of history to read...so I skipped a few pages.
Honestly I have not seen these problems with this mod so far, but then again the forum is not yet live, but it looks fine as far as I can see, guess I'll need a few threads ti check if that is wrong with mine as well, or else pore over it in a test install on my home server and modify the scripts until I find the fix!

If anyone is supporting this or just knows how to do what I want to in lieu of using this mod please instruct me where to go to change the global width of the forums so the sidebar column doesn't create a horizontal scroll bar, no one likes scrolling especially sideways So if anyone is willing to help it would be greatly appreciated, as i love this mod concept, and had it on my older MyBB forum, and thought I would have to do with out until seeing this here!

To answer my own question... I realized that I had to specify the forumIDs of the forums I wanted to show the 'latest threads' from. The default was set to "1,2,3" and I don't have any forums with those IDs so nothing was showing up.

This does not resolve the polls issue. I am guessing the two are somehow interfering with each other. If the primary poll were disabled, the sidebar poll might work.

I had asked as well, but what I ended up doing was editing out the info from the polls and added my own stuff into the template. Unless you're using all of the blocks as is, then you have the opportunity to do it that way.

Hey all, I "tripped" over this, and found it to work excellent with 3.8.4 and since this thread's version appears to be abandoned despite the popularity (based on how often my thread subscription generates a new post email) I thought it would be nice to share it here for everyone else to get it is called Ultimate Side Columns (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=175181&highlight=side+column+mod) and you can "html" any and all the content in these boxes, for which you can have up to 20 of, AND it integrates well with vB advanced CMPS!

Hope this helps some of you unable to tweak this one in to working as expected, but since this new one allows html in the boxes, you can pull from whatever sets of content you wish, such as latest threads/posts/ etc. mot popular threads, polls, and even externally produced widget scripts, and advertising...point is, they are very diverse in their usage, and you can pick and choose whichever set you want and any number of that set, and whether you want then displayed everywhere, nowhere, forum /cmps home, only, exclude from quick reply, or show only on show-thread forum-display, exclude from other mods or features such as calendar, or from profile and member pages.

Now don't hold me to this list exactly as I am doing this from memory since it has been a number of weeks since setting them on my site, but they should do whatever you need them to.

I need help with the Sidebar 3.8.002.

As you can see here (http://www.security-exchange.net/index.php) in the VBA page there is a big empty space on the left -this is due to the Sidebar.

In the forum is working fine.

How can I make that white "bar" disappear from the main VBA page?

1. seems uses a lot of resources, especially by visitors (not members) because they are a lot,
how can I set it for usergroups only, I want to exclude visitors usergroup from using the mod.
2. Prefixes need to be shown in threads titles.

No, you shouldn't need to adjust any code manually. Sounds like you don't have your correct style ID(s) entered or it may be entered incorrectly. You can get your specific style ID's in the ACP under styles and templates.

Ok so I installed and did not see it either. But when it asks for style id in you sidebar colum settings then you can not just type in 1 or 2 like I did . You have to move the cursor over the style you have in the template edit and in the bottom of your screen you will see a link telling you style id that is the number you type in. So I just learned that my self also now I am happy it is working. see my image it wil explain were to see the style id.

i hope thsi will help anyone image can be placed in description to so no one else makes that mistake I did lol

the style id is shown when you move your mouse over the templates in the bottom of the screen of your monitor.

The modification is nice, though it would be better if it was supported, but it is very heavy on resources. I don't understand the need for so many queries to be added and such and, even though the mod is an excellent addition to my forum, I'm not sure I can justify the hit it causes.

Apparently 6 of the 8 queries it adds on my forumhome come from the forum stats option. Maybe I can use this mod then, just with that disabled.

I have this installed and have been trying to make it work for some time now.
It shows up but only when I set it to 'Right side' and then it shows up at the bottom of the forum in the center!

Okay so know it works if I set it to Index only and right side but when I try to have it display on all pages the whole damn thing drops to the bottom of the page like an extra footer and when I select Left it all disappears!

I know this is a pain, but read back through this thread from Jun-July-Aug of 2009...I believe I remember someone else having the same issue.

You can try sc_right below the navbar and sc_right_bottom at the beginning of the footer and then play around. If you don't understand basic HTML you're better off leaving it alone.

$sc_user, $sc_stats, $sc_latest_threads, $sc_ads & $sc_links can be arranged as you'd like them to appear of deleted at your preference. $sc_poll is a mess and probably should be avoided.

I disabled this sidebar and implemented vbAdvanced... look the Information Security Forum (http://www.security-exchange.net/forums) and you will see two sidebars...

Found the problem - it was my code not Sidebar. Sidebar did stop Google Street View working properly in IE8 though! Which is why I have got rid.

not working for me and I looked at the first post where usually any issues are fixed but didn't find any. As soon as I choose latest threads, I get a dbase error. I have seen others complain about this but didn't see a fix. Also, if I choose right side, it goes under the forum. It will only work on the left. I think it needs fixing then it would be really great. Thank you.

It installed this mod to use it as a location for a rotating banner. I was able to accomplish this using the Cyb Flash Banner Rotator. Problem is that the column only displays when I have it set to display on "Index" page and when I set it to display on "All Pages" the column does not display. Now it works fine and displays on All Pages when I use the default vb skin, but not on either of my custom skins.

I know there must be a simple template edit I can do on my custom skins to make the column display on All Pages, but I cannot figure out which template to edit to make this work. Can anyone offer advice?

Ok, I was working on trying to figure out why the path for th e"No Avatar" option was not working. Or, not showing the image that the path leads to for the default avatar. I have been going over the code and cannot figure out what the issue is. Ok, I do have one other issue. When you look at the side bar blocks, the "User Information" block title actually says "User Infomation" leaving the "R" out of information. Now, I did nothing with that, I can;t efven find the right file to make the correction. Any help with that would be great.

Also, I know this mod is unsupported, I am just trying to get ideas from those that have experience with it.

It's probably a phrase. Do a search in the phrases group (product=sidebar) using the typo, then just replace that mis-spelling with whatever you want.

Having some issues - When I select display sidebar on all pages (including index) it disappears completely from the side.

When I check the tick box with just displays on index it works. I have no idea why checking display on all pages disables the mod. It almost as if the sidebar renders under the forum because I see a black line at the bottom of the footer when this happens.

Any ideas?

editIt appears All Pages works fine so long as its set to display on the left side. However it won't display the column at all if the display on right side is selected...

Ok, I fixed the issue with the poll not working to show in the sidebar. However, instead of throwing an error that an invalid poll was specified, now it throws an error for everyone trying to vote that they have already voted in the poll when they have not. Any ideas of whether this is an issue with this particular mod or with the poll settings themselves? If you have an idea please point me in the right direction, I truly appreciate the assistance!

I am having the same issue. The polls always say "You have already voted in this poll" to everyone, even if they haven't yet.

Love the mod otherwise. Hoping for a fix for this, or to be pointed in the right direction :)

This is a very good mods.. the only is it doesn't display correctly in showthread.php otherwise this is mod is hella sweet.
