I've searched and can't find the answer to this problem brought up by one of my users. is there a way to turn off the pre-fetching of video so it won't load unless the user clicks on the play button. Some of my users are still on dialup and they're complaining about how long it takes when all they want to do is read the posting and move on.

I love this plugin, and it went in with no problems I have been adding some other ones but I can't get aol videos to work has anyone figured those out? I don't know what I'm messing up with it. Here is an example of the embedd code off of their videos:

I am currently working on vnunited.com...........as far as esnips goes, the xml is only for thier music player, nothing else........being that esnips has alot of spyware on it, i am not comfortable messing around on their site.

I just tested the esnips link you posted, on my website and it works fine..........all you should have to do is copy and paste the address from the address bar into a post on your site and the player and song will be inside the post........

All you should have to do is go into your admincp, ame cp, click on import, click browse, locate the file liveleak.xml on your computer and upload it.........

On most of the embedded videos, when you click the video a new browser window opens. On the live leak embedded videos, when you click the video, the user is taken off my page.

Can the live leak embed code be changed so when someone clicks the video, a new browser window opens, instead of being taken off my site?

I can't get Yahoo videos to show.

At first I had the Extract destination data turned off and Yahoo videos were just links.

Then I turned it on but now when I post Yahoo video links I get an empty container with Yahoo at the top.

Now thats crazy.. so i didnt like the face that some of my posts were changed.. so i undid the ame tags through the toolbar.. i then went to see a video post and i saw that the video wasnt there but the link was converted into a text name link.. even after i had undo'ed.

So then i replaced the entire db to get back to square one.

What i have done is i have still got the hack on but disabled it.

If somebody can find a fix for this i would love to give it one last try. I am on a 3.6.8 forum.

I'm having a problem. If someone posts a link to any of the supported video sites the link is converted to url tags but the player isn't showing in the posts. I can edit a post or make a new post and surround it with ame tags and the player shows up fine. Any thoughts?

Edit: also on the rebuild post page, it seems to go through the post listing post numbers but the "About XXX pages left" number isn't changing.

Thank you so much for this hack and the xml files that people upload for various video streaming site is just too cool :D

One thing i realize is that some links, if you dont put the www in the beginning it wont work. since it is not defined in the codes. so for those who paste the url and dont see the video, some site have their url like this http://sitename.com rather than http://www.sitename.com. just add the www to the link or edit the imported xml files manually.

The one site i had problems with was VIMEO. their site like i said dont start with www. so you have to add it in the beginning when you paste.

Yes, each website you want to use has to be created or imported via the Admin CP. GodTube is available for import in the XML releases by hotwheels: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=157109

OK...I did figure out the reason for the double videos. For some reason, YouTube was listed twice in my display settings in the control panel.

I would still appreciate some help with the livedigital.com file.

I installed this one, used the tools to modify all my old threads. All the old videos from YouTube worked but now when you post a new one, it doesn't work. Settings seem to be correct but it just doesn't work for me.

Also, in the tool section, if you rebuild the threads and choose "1 week" or whatever, it still rebuilds ALL the threads on the site.

As this makes changes to existing posts, I would hope there is some way to cleanly reverse the process should it become necessary (incompatibility with future versions, etc).. As it is now, if you turn it off you get an ugly BBcode that doesn't work. Even just reverting it to the original link would be preferable.

can convert her codes BACK to url codes so you're not stuffed with a bunch of dead tags if you uninstall!

Note the timeout option to bypass the vBulletin BBCode parse timeout, if it exists. So far it seems to work again, when the title fetching fails just the AME bbcode remains unparsed and not a part of the other BBCode.

He is no longer supporting anything. He had an unforeseen family issue come up and has to take care of that. So at this time, he has put his website and mods up for sale, if a true coder want's to purchase what he has started. Other then that, it is up to members to try to make his mods stay functional.

I do recall him posting a thread that stated he sent back as much money as he could from his paypal account, and went back a couple months worth of people in doing so....but he nolonger takes money nor supports his site, mods, etc......

What I suspect is the "exclude usergroups" option is the culprit in my case. Some usergroups can use it while some cannot. Maybe it's only checking the primary usergroup and not any secondary ones attached to a user.

This is my first add on and I have no idea what I'm doing! I'm stuck.

When I go to the download/upload plug'ins area, it shows anymedia there.
when I go to manage plug-ins, it is there and I can click edit.

So I'm sort of there.

The third step where we are supposed to enter the code under edit is confusing. I just copied and pasted each of the codes in one long string into the install code box and hit saved.....and it said it was successful and came back to the edit page and then there was nothing in the box any longer. Is that right?

I went to my forum and put in the code for http://myURLwmv, but it didn't work...is that what I am supposed to do?

Where do I specify who can download it? I do not see any new places in my admin area.

So I'm having some issue with this mod. If I enable the plugin, when people us the quick reply box and include images, the posts never post. If they cut the text and paste it into the advanced editor, the posts work just fine.

I did notice when I was installing AME, when I did a test of the database modifications any post with any IMG was listed as a post that was going to be changed.. but I looked at the before and after and they were identical, as is to be expected --but why is AME even looking at this?

I'm sure this is all a misconfiguration issue on my part, I first opened an admincp less than a week ago and the forum I'm the admin on just started.. less than a week ago.

So, I am taking the plunge and converting my forum from AnyMedia over to AME. I've got AME working and I am very happy with it. Thanks for all the great work, The Geek and all the plug-in contributors!)

My question now is, how to convert old links embedded by AnyMedia? On my forum, I'd set AnyMedia to use the universal "[media]" tag for all video links. (Most of them were YouTube or Google Video.)

I notice the "Convert codes" in the Tools section of the AME CP, but unless I am missing something, that will convert all of the URLs with the media tags to that of one video site. There's no way to keep YouTube videos set for YouTube and Google Video's for Google, for example. Is that right?

Is there any way to convert the old URLs inside the [media] tag intelligently, so that each video site's URL is retained?

If not, I may just have to keep AnyMedia activated, but encourage folks to start using AME instead (ie: not using the [media] tag any more.)

Is there any way that AME can handle the tasks of both? That is, convert any Amazon links to have the Amazon logo, use the name of the product (as it already does) and lastly, use the Amazon Associates ID in the URL? That'd be ideal...

Yes, Amazon.com is the internet's biggest and most well-known store. They sell nearly everything and have hundreds of thousands of partner marketplaces. Their online catalog is pretty much a directory of any purchasable product. :p

AME's default installation already includes an Amazon plugin. It takes a long AmazonURL and converts into the name of the product being linked to, next to a nice Amazon logo. So, for example, this:

would be converted to this:

Amazon also has an "associates" program that a lot of webmasters are a part of. Link to a product and include your associates "referrer ID" and you get a small commission. So there are plug ins for vBulletin that automatically convert any Amazon URL in a forum, to include the webmaster's "associates" referrer ID.

My suggestion, since these two add-ons appear to conflict with each other, was to create an AME plug-in that accomplished both tasks.

Jumpcut's not working for me (but all the others are.) Once a Jumpcut URL is posted, the thread page stops loading and hangs looking for this:

My bad.....When i snooped the url, I left a / in the xml which didn't need to be there......and i am at work right now, so i don't have my software with me to change the xml........If you put a / right after "view" it will work........ www.jumpcut.com/view/

I think starting a new thread is the way to go. You could offer up a current zip, and update the first post with new XML files as they get shared. The new thread would supersede the other one and serve as the official companion to this one.

I've investigated and now see the issue. The skin I'm using doesn't show this checkbox option in the Post/Reply composition window:

"Automatically embed media (requires automatic parsing of links in text to be on)."

It's there on the default VB skin, but not on my custom one, and I have to believe that's why the embedding's not working on the first post.

So... how can I add this checkbox option/line to my custom skin?

Blip is a great video host who offer much bigger upload capacity and better quality than youtube and the like and (more importantly) it's very popular with my forum users... I've had a bit of a try myself with this but i'm a really too stupid to properly understand regex myself :(

I've made a solution for playing FLV files with JW FLV Player (http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=JW_FLV_Player) - this needs to be installed on your server though (still it's nice to stay within AME rather than use more resources for another media playing solution to play FLV) - so download the player and put it in a folder called "jw_flv_player" in your forum root directory, then install the xml as normal it it should work fine :)

I've also updated the quicktime support so that it correctly scales the video to fit the player - this prevents the issue of higher res files pushing the controls off the bottom of the player.

Hope these are useful to someone. (any help with blip.tv support would be much appreciated)

It seems to be an issue with https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=155909 , in that the title URL replace mod is running before the AME mod and when the AME mod goes to read the post, it ignores the replaced movie URL.

The title url replace mod runs at the hook, url_to_bbcode . which i think is before AME runs no matter what

I'm especially happy about the amazon link replacement, but it failes on special Characters, for example ? ? ? ? ? ? ( ) etc. Due to the fact that there are a lot of german and international Bands (e.g. Mot?rhead) using this Charakters - or think about the spanish with ? ? etc. - there should be a more open regexp in Place.

I've tried to modify the regexp for amazon by this:

Open up your vB control panel. On the left side of the screen, scroll down to Plugins & Products, then click on the arrow next to it to open the drop down menu, then click on Manage Products. When that screen opens to the right, find [Add/Import Product] and click on it. In the Import Product section, select Browse, locate where the xml file is on your computer, select it, then click on Import.


Get through this and you'll find the answer to your second question. If you don't, post again.

I have a problem about inserting the "php code" in article, I think there is something conflict between AME mod and "php code" insert function.

Who are you hosted through? My host backs up my site daily. Check with your host to see if they have a backup of your site the day before your lose. You will lose 24 hours of threads, but not your whole site....goodluck...

When enabled users cannot quote or code tag urls, they automatically have the /'s removed.

Im a noobler to all of this, can someone please help?

I get an error after I have installed the AME and I enable the Plugin/Hook System. The board looks fine until I open a thread and hit the reply button...It then gives me the errors:

I realize this is due to me installing the AME program, but how do i fix it? I went through all the files on my server and they are all there. Should I re-install this program and try again or is there an easier way?

I'd recommend uninstalling and trying again to see if you get the same error and double check your steps to see if maybe you skipped over something during the last try.

Appears to hang while importing as a product on my system, is there anything I could easily check with this? Have tried both uploading and importing off my server.

I think I may know what I did wrong. There is already an admincp, image, and includes folder under my forums folder...do I have to upload the files and stick them in those folders? Last time I uploaded the entire folders apart from the folders that were already established...

Would this make the difference?

Edit: How do i completely get rid of the borders and title? I have managed to get rid of all of it except one little bar accross the bottom of the video....right now my Open container html is like this:

You should upload everything as they are already arranged, to your forum root. The contents of those folders will be added to the folders of the same names.

The above when embedded doesnt format the name right because the video name has a ' in it leaving this after the embedded video:

Try adding taking the name out of the URL altogether. They used to embed without needing that part.
