I have it installed to 3.7beta4 but found a BBC issue.
I just tried to post in the forum to show someone basic use of PHP variables.
The problem is that the $variables disappeared after submitting.
Example:
[CODE]$my_variable = "my_string";
After submitting the post, it displays as shown below:
= "my_string";
^^ removes the $my_variable
Does anyone have a clue why this is happening?
Is the PHP parsing within the forum for some reason?
It does the same thing with [QUOTE],[PHP] and [HTML]

Okay, first off, you shouldn't have to go through any steps. All your supposed to do is post the link that the video is displayed on, and AME will convert it into an embedded video. For example, here's the link I posted above: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3f2az_soi-day-chuyen-dinh-menh-2newchunk2_shortfilms See? Nothing special, it's just the page the video is on.

Second, Daily Motion changed their URL structure since AME's initial release. Go here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1406809#post1406809), and get the updated Daily Motion XMLs, and your videos should embed just fine.

You can request Blip be added in this thread. But it may take some time, as there's only person, Hotwheels, who's been able to make the XMLs for us. I've been trying to learn, but haven't really had the time.

I don't know how much good it will do you, as mine is customized to work with my video player. But you can take a look and see if you can extrapolate something.

One of our forum users reported exactly the same problem. We are running vBulletin 3.6.8 Patch Level 2.

This is definitely caused by AME. As soon as the Add-on is disabled, everything works fine.

I did the same. Apparently, the big long URL with the name and everything in it isn't going to work. But, you know how all Stage6 videos have a download link? Right click and copy the shortcut to the download link, and those will embed just fine.

I got it to work, the default dailymotion xml that comes with the plugin does not work. However, someone made a new one in another thread which works fine.

How to troubleshoot.

1. Make sure that the disable setting is set to no (admincp->AME CP->settings)
2. Disable 'Resolve URL titles' (admincp->AME CP->Settings).
3. Here are some random links to put into a post. See if all/some/none work (if you have not disabled the Resolve URL titles setting, this could take awhile to post!



Disable all other modifications except this one and repeat the process.

If none of these work, post:
1. Check your apache error log for any info you could post to help us find the problem
2. Make sure you post your version# of PHP

I don't know much about QuickTime, but I've never seen a QuickTime player that starts downloading after you click play. That's usually why their on separate pages.

It took my a while to make the one I told you about. It would probably be best if you looked over that article a bit more, even if you don't fully understand it all. Most of that article is just him explaining why he did it. But towards the end he just shows you the most important parts. I'd make one for you if I had more time. But my time on this site is in spurts.

Actually it works now, however, the case with PutFile is, it won't play on my site. I can click on the play button, but it doesn't do anything, so I end opening the actual putfile page.

The Problem with the Dailymotion is that the Currently "Extraction Information" find this

I just installed this mod and it works beautifully.

I just have one queston, I'm trying to change the font color of the video's title, and being an html noob, I'm just not sure where to add the code. I asw someone had a similiar problem in an earlier post, but I didn't see the answer.

I know the settings are added here:

AdminCP > AME CP > Settings > Container HTML

but I just dont know what code to add, and where in the code to add it. I googled and tried several things but not seems to effect the font's color.

Could someone please post an example?

Hi everyone,
everything installed and works fine. I also have downloaded the .mov xml and it reads my .mov videos on my server, but the video has no controls. I only see a portion of the screen as the video is 640/480.

Is there a way to run my videos from my own server without uploading them to a public place?
Can I play them in a larger resolution, 640/480?
Is this the right script to do this?

Some kind of issue with firefox here... When using firefox and posting a video via quick reply, the page hangs. The page goes white and doesn't load period, BUT going back and reloading the thread the post is posted with the video embedded.

I tried setting the extract on and off, no change, I tried different video sites, still the same problem.

I then thought to try internet explorer, and it works no problem. So I guess there is some kind of issue here going on with firefox, what it is is beyond my knowledge level. Hopefully someone can help with this. This is an excellent mod otherwise, seems to be working perfect for me other than the quick reply.

The idea behind the mod is that you don't have to do anything. Once you install it properly, all anyone has to do is post the URL to a video from one of the supported site, and it auto-embeds.

everything installed and works fine. I also have downloaded the .mov xml and it reads my .mov videos on my server, but the video has no controls. I only see a portion of the screen as the video is 640/480.

Is there a way to run my videos from my own server without uploading them to a public place?
Can I play them in a larger resolution, 640/480?
Is this the right script to do this?

You can edit the size of your video for each supported site in the AME CP. Just look for Replacement Code and change each instance of hieght and width.


Some kind of issue with firefox here... When using firefox and posting a video via quick reply, the page hangs. The page goes white and doesn't load period, BUT going back and reloading the thread the post is posted with the video embedded.

I tried setting the extract on and off, no change, I tried different video sites, still the same problem.

I then thought to try internet explorer, and it works no problem. So I guess there is some kind of issue here going on with firefox, what it is is beyond my knowledge level. Hopefully someone can help with this. This is an excellent mod otherwise, seems to be working perfect for me other than the quick reply.

I'm on 3.7 beta 5, btw.
I'm willing to bet that's why. I haven't encountered that problem in FireFox with my older vBulletin. Beta is, as implied, a little buggy. (I drove in here in a little buggy. <rim shot> :D :down: :()

This is a cool mod and I am happy that I have installed it. Very convenient and quality is very fast and clear. The resize of the widow is a cool feature as some sites have much better quality than Youtube.

I've also updated the quicktime support so that it correctly scales the video to fit the player - this prevents the issue of higher res files pushing the controls off the bottom of the player.

I think your making the same mistake a lot of people are making and trying to post the URL from the source code. All your supposed to post is the URL (the Permalink) of the page the video is located on. Like this one:

Each website has to have it's own reg ex replacement in the Admin CP. You can't get it to create an embed for just any website, you need an entry in the Admin CP for each individual website. Not to mention, that site needs to have some kind of embed code to reference.

Just upload the content of the "forums" folder to where you keep your forums, exactly the way it's structured. The folders inside are supposed to have the same name as the folders on your site. That's how the FTP knows where to put their contents.

I have fixed the original Revver XML file so it now works.

This does not work for me either we only use YouTube and after installing this mod nothing has changed they still display as a link nothing more and when I use the Tool Rebuild Post's during the process all I get is Not Changed ???

Ok I found why it was not working it was due to the fact the links had tags in place once removed then the the mod worked.

BUT

This is major on my VBAdvance page my left colum ends up under the vid along with everything else at the bottom of the page in one colum under the vid and this is not good for my site as we need a vid on the VBadvanced page.

What needs to be fixed or is a bug in the mod. ??? :(

It includes a picture of the book in the link, and uses the simplest amazon url (http://beckism.com/2008/02/amazon_affiliate_links/) that I could come up with. I use the options to place the link in a container - so the picture/link doesn't make a paragraph indecipherable. I attached a screenie, but here's a link to a thread that shows off (http://www.stopmomstop.com/talk/f4/abcs-3d-9362/) what this does.

Once you've imported it, you have to go into your AME options and edit the "replacement text". Replace stopmomstop-20 with your own affiliate id. Or, heck, if you just like the feature and don't care about amazon commissions, leave it as is :D.

Guys, Stage6 has closed down. They were buggy, required all users to download their viewer, etc.

Now Vimeo has awesome HD and it works like the dogs bollocks as we say in the UK.

We REALLY need someone to make an add-on code for Vimeo videos as right now we get a 'failed to parse the url" message box within AME.

Hey, Geek. I know you probably hadn't planned any updates on this for a while, but one minor addition I thought would be useful for those of us making XMLs, would be an extra field to put instructions in the AME CP. There are a few things I've made so far, and when I share them, I'm going to have to include a handful of notations. (A way to change the color of the player, how to change the language of the player's menu to English, etc). It would be nice if I could just add that to the file itself, not to mention I sometimes need to make notes to remind myself of things. If you happen to catch this post, please consider making a note of that. Thanks.

Quick question regarding the regex, if anyone knows. When using the optional Embedding Regexp, how do we get the embed code to reference it? For example, when the ID for the the video is different then the ID used in the embed code, putting $p1 or $p2, etc, obviously isn't going to work. What do we do to get the Replacement HTML to reference the Embedding Regexp?

The problem is that this Youtube URL was posted BEFORE the AME installation...!

Since the AME installation, those Youtube/all media URLs just do not show anymore on the Archive posts...

So, everyone reading the Archive posts will not have the ability to click on Youtube links, or even write them down in a paper or something like that...

the program does not work correctly.

Quick question.

Be default is it not supposed to show you the embedded video when previewing the first post of a new thread.

It works fine when viewing the first post after the thread is created.

Previews of replies work just fine.

I dug through / debugged the hack and found the converter runs under postdata_presave, which I don't think runs when the first post is previewed.

Am I going crazy or is this the normal behavior for AME?

As was mentioned, The Geek isn't working on any of his mods anymore, not even his paid ones, due to some personal issues. However, a couple of people have said they're running this on 3.7 versions with no real problems.

In the long run, your BBCode is still more efficient for images. I thought about making one for ImageShack and Photobucket, but then I realized that the very same page you would have to hunt for a link, is the same page they provide formatted BBCode for forums.

Just found a bug: in my forums, when posting PHP or any other language code that had variables defined ($sample = $sample, $test, $test;) the system deleted all variables when parsing the thread. The result were always: = , , ;

This mod is bugged, it cuts the $variables in the code field when editing posts, they just disappear:

It's not cutting or stripping them, it's trying to convert them. We got around it by just putting a space after the $ when using the various code tags. There won't be a bug fix from the author any time soon, because, as was mentioned, he will not be available for the unforeseeable future. That is presuming, of course, that it is his mod causing the issue.

I heard a few reports that it was working fine on most 3.6-3.7 versions. It works, as long as you keep your definitions up to date, and of course, as long as video sites have code that cooperates. For the most part, they do. I've got the community XML definitions compiled here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=175378 You want the Local Hosted ZIP file for one that will convert flash.

Bear in mind, that it will only do so for videos hosted on your site, not flash videos in any general location. The definitions are site specific, meaning you have to have a definition defined to convert videos for a specific site.

I think you should be able to do that by removing the Replacement HTML and replacing it with <a href="$url">$title</a>. And you probably need Extract Destination Data ticked to Yes. I haven't tried it yet, but it should work.

A few of them do that actually. Revver does too. It's something to do with the type of player they use, so there's no real way to stop it. I've been getting around it by clicking the Edit button for the first post and opening that little in-line edit window. Takes the video out of the way so I can access the thread options. It's an extra step for sure, but not too bad of a workaround.

AME 1.2.0 works for me in two 3.7.0 installations. The only issue I've found (that I don't recall existing with 3.6.x) is that if there are any non-amazon links in a paragraph after an Amazon link (which AME embeds with an Amazon logo), they don't get parsed into a hyperlink. I assume this is fixed if autolinking Amazon URLs is turned off in the control panel... but I thought of mentioning it anyway in case an updated version is in the works.

Did you end up trying this? I'd be curious to know if that worked. My first thought was to try and rebuild the AME links from the CP. But that's one feature I have yet to try.

Not just any site in general. A definition has to be installed for each individual site and media type.

Check the collection of definitions in the Addon section above. There's a ZIP file there for those kinds of media, with maybe the exception of MKV.

I just wanted to see if maybe the XML got corrupted somehow. But it looks to be correct.

Since this isn't a live site yet, have you tried disabling all of your other modifications to see if the problem is not a conflict? And if so, re-enable them one by one, re-saving the post each time to see which one is conflicting. If a conflicting mod isn't the problem, then have you tried a complete reinstall. Which version of vB are you using by the way?

Um this is a live site not a test site. All the hacks worked fine before this was installed on the site. We had the old video hack that was AME but used a button in the post area & used BB Code. That worked fine but now I cannot find it on here anywhere. And we were forced to switch to this one since we uninstalled the old one thinking it would be pretty much the same but its not.

Currently its vb 3.6.4 we are looking to possibly upgrade though to 3.70.

I did a search but couldn't find anything. I have AME installed and it works fine, but I'm going to add multiple styles to my site for users to choose from. When I post/edit a topic the video works, but if I view it from a different style it only displays the url with the ame tags. If I edit it in that style, it works there and breaks in the other.

The problem I had was using bbcode php tag wrap. It gave all kinds of errors. It may not for you though. Hopefully the 3.7.0 update will come out.

I haven't had any issues with 3.7 other than WMA files autostarting but I just figured out how to fix that so they no longer autostart....FINALLY!

In case anyone was wondering:

In the <object> tag the following line should be:

<param name="autostart" value="false">

In the <embed> tag the following line should include after the width and height:

ShowControls="1" autostart="0"

Hey everyone, I wanted to pop in and give a HUGE thanks to Jedi, hotwheels and the others for the amazing amount of support they have given everyone since I had to hang up my coders hat late last year.

Remember that destination sites like dailymotion, etc... can (and do) change their parameters from time to time which may require tweaking AME's definitions (which several users have done and shared). This is how AME was designed, to allow users to tweak, update, create and share all without having to update the AME code itself.

I keep getting a lot of PMs on here asking for AME use in blogs, user comments and other areas. TBH, I originally assumed that it would automatically do so, but on closer inspection vB uses different hooks and sometimes different classes for processing BBcode in these areas, so additional hooks and functions would have to be added to AME in order to accommodate this extended functionality. Saying that, it wouldn't be hard at all to do so for any experienced vB coder.

Between the additional functionality (that would be minor to do) and the additional XML definitions that users have updated or created I REALLY wish that .org had a sourceforge like ability to at least share out project development. One day maybe!

FWIW, AME works quite happily on 3.6 and 3.7 versions of vBulletin :)

I am pretty proud that this was my last community release (for the foreseeable future). Thanks for making it such a popular solution for so many sites. I hope you all get a lot of great use out of the work that was put into it.

My only curiosity is if this will ever support MP3's? So many people upload MP3s and want them to automatically play.

I really see this as a modification that could be the absolute best when it comes to multi-media mods for vbulletin.

Hey Geek! Great to see you around again! I was and am very happy to help out, even with the limited knowledge I have. This mod was singularly responsible for introducing me to the world of Regular Expressions and what they're capable of. It's actually been really fun trying to figure out what things I can make happen with AME. It seems there's still a great deal of potential there that is remained untapped. So if I can thank you for one thing in particular, it would be, not just for your work on the mod, but for creating the catalyst for my understanding of something I didn't know a thing about four months ago. :D

I am usless at REGEX, I am trying to add a embed service for youtube hi def service.

All I want to be able to say is if the end of the URL finishes as 'fmt=18'

then embed the youtube video with the addition code of '&ap=%2526fmt%3D18' in the embed code.

I am trying to do what is in the this DOC

I did a search but couldn't find anything. I have AME installed and it works fine, but I'm going to add multiple styles to my site for users to choose from. When I post/edit a topic the video works, but if I view it from a different style it only displays the url with the ame tags. If I edit it in that style, it works there and breaks in the other.

i can't tell you from exerperience because i don't currently have this mod installed, but i wonder if you had considered trying the template modification system hack for managing the template edits? since it stores template edits in a master style and applies them across your skins, it may get you around this problem. a thought, anyway.

Thanks for the reply. I would have tried that, but for some strange reason it started working correctly on all styles after I added a new xml definition from Jedi. It wasn't a rewrite either, just a new one, so I have no clue why it did that, and I have a bad feeling it will come back. But for now all is good :D

Here's what I tried, and it seems to be working perfectly on my forum.

Keep the original YouTube RegEx the way it was, as that definition will still convert any URL, even one with the fmt=18 on the end. Instead, change the embed code, and the embed code only. Add &ap=%2526fmt%3D18 after the $p1 in the value and src URLs. I highlighted them in red:

Now test it out with these four URLs. The first two are the ones in the article with the skateboarding dog:

And these last two are a Barack Obama speech that is currently NOT available in HD but has the fmt=18 on the end of one anyway.

What should happen when you post these four is that both instances of the skateboarding dog should have embedded in HD and both Barack Obama videos should have embedded as they would normally.

This means that you users don't even have to know if their video is available in HD, the embed code will do the work for them, and if it isn't it will embed normally. And even if they do post the URL with the extra set of number on the end, it will still work the same way. Test that out and let me know if it's working for you the way it is for me, and I'll add it to the next cycle of XML updates.

So now that I think more people are using this on 3.7... Is anyone having a problem when posting a video in quick reply with firefox, the page goes white and doesn't load (but the post is posted)... This is the only problem I've experienced with the mod on 3.7. Would be nice if we could figure out what the problem is.
