You can see that my current shoutbox is between the 2 columns in the centre module. If that feature isn't available, I have to place it above my modules which means my whole site gets pulled down a bit and that just doesnt look nice.

When I do it adds it to my forum page (which is named forum.php). Is it perhaps possible to add it to my index.php file (which is vbadvanced). What is the script name of that one? All vB scripts has a define "THIS_SCRIPT" (define('THIS_SCRIPT', '<name>');) on the php that shows the name of the script.

There hasnt really been much demand to toggle the timestamps, or for an auto prune (since its so easy to prune just now, any allowed UG can just type /prune) But we'll consider putting them in future versions :)

actually i requested the timestamp feature in the pro section. I would like my members in their usercp to have the option of turning on/off the timestamp for the shoutbox.

Am I imagining things or does the lite version of the shoutbox seem to stop ajaxing when you click out of the IE window that its running in? I have a multimonitor setup on my machine and while im on one screen doing something and have the vbulletin page on the other monitor the shoutbox stops adding shouts until I refresh the page. Is this how the server load is cut down?

There is an "idle" timeout, where if the window isnt opened for X time (configurable in the APC) It stops refreshing, to save server load. Posting a message will snap you out of it.

Is there an option to change the refresh time to reduce server loading?

The reason I ask this is that I had to remove previous versions of shoutbox at the request of my host due to excessive server loading :(

But, to my knowledge the prune, and ban are included - Just got to read.

it changes all your posts because thats a feature.

When you change your font/colour it is your new font/colour. The options are there for you, not for each individual shout :)

Unfortunatly you cant change the colour for each individual shout unless you type this into the shoutbox each time.... [ color=HEXCODE]SHOUT[/color] changing HEXCODE to the hexidecimal colour code that you was and changing SHOUT to your shout.
As for deleting shouts individually, i believe you can in the archive or just double clicking theshout and pressing delete.

How do i make the default font size bigger, because it is small and people are complaining on my site, and irritating me about size again and again.

I have the Pro version, in the options turn on the Use Normal Font Size dont's helps, its use smallfont parameter, and if i change the size of smallfont i screw up my layout.

So far this mod is great except for one moderate bug: The shoutbox works in all browsers except IE. In IE, you can only see the top line or so of text. See the attached screenshot for what I mean. Any ideas what would cause this or how to fix it?

Okay, here is something interesting that I have not been able to find - yet...

The shoutbox shows up find on the main page (still trying to get it to work with vbadvanced) however the collapse graphic is showing up as not found:

When I check a correct collapse button the URL is as follows:
forums/images/hexcell/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif

However the shotbox collapse button is as follows:
forums/{IF}/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif

As far as i am aware, there isnt any way to do this with the lite version, without some code editing involved. Since it is, or will be (im never sure when im using these dev versions) a feature in future, we are understandly not going to give instructions on how to run the lite mod with premium paid features :)

again, apologies for the lack of full tech support lately, the supporting dev, Acid Burn, is having serious issues getting online. Normal service wil lbe resumed ASAP.

As stated several times in the thread, the dev who is doing the support for VBshout is currently unable to access the internet. Thanks for your concern though :)

The pro version is still being supported in full, by its support dev (Zero Tolerance)

If you decided to actually pay for the product, and the time required to support it, there wouldn't be a problem, instead of expecting it for free, and being rude when you do not receive it. Thanks :)

I have a feature request. Sometimes I go away from the computer for a while and come back and I am "inactive" in the shoutbox. The only way to become active again is to refresh the page or say something. There should be a way to press a button to become active again. This would be especially handy for dialup users.

All I did was removed the SB entry from the HomePage and put it at the bottom of Navbits.

Then I went into the SB settings and added "adv_index" to the page deployment area.

If you want it to show up on more pages just open the .php file for that page and find "define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'page name here');" The page name is in the second single quotations (ex. "define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'adv_index');" the page name is adv_index).

For it to work on Vba yes it can be done like that, however I am talking working as a module in CMPS.

The problem ive experienced is that it will display but simply show "loading..." on vbadvanced as a module.

Ive tried changing all the action="/index.php" in the templates to action="/forum/index.php" instead. I suspect that it cannot read the shouts for some reason. I just cant establish how.

With this mod like similar you would have thought that they would make them simple to display elsewhere on vbulletin like those other authors do. Zero Tolerance's VbShout worked as a module on Vba as you just edited the main template and added it to CMPS. This one proves much more difficult.

Support for Pro Version? Nope im afraid not. Ive got Pro and ive tried several times to ask how to get it working on Vba and nothing. Support for this mod is about as good as trying to get it working on Vba itself ;)

I dont know what it is, but they seem to think you are advanced coders. Im no newbie to coding and know a fair wack, but this hack I would say would be hard for a novice to install nevermind use. For instance, "Page Deployment". The hack doesnt tell you anything about where to actually find the script name. Luckly I knew from a previous time.

m002.p, i tried to look for these multiple instances of support you referred to, could you please Pm me some links, I found one or two references to VB Advanced, and in both cases it was clearly stated that in the current version it is unsupported, but that support is planned for the next version.

I would like the shoutbox on every single page (not including the "home" page vbcmps), but I don't know the "scripts" for that. Also, is there a complete listing of admin commands (ban, etc) and how to use them?

@Inferno Tech, it is good to see you have finally realised that I did email "support or enquiries". I mean for any company no matter how busy, a polite notice to acknowledge receipt goes along way.

It is a shame to simply shut off the support issue. Basically how I see it, some coders make a product and release it but then dont bother supporting or even taking an interest in what people have to say or request. If its so much trouble then maybe releasing it publically isnt a good idea. Surely these guys know that all sorts of queires arise.

This modification is great, in fact an outstanding idea, but rather than worrying about the pennies in the bank, maybe considering the customer may also be high on the agenda. Being a manager myself shows you for anything to be successful, you win the customers and by not even replying to my enquiries shows alot.

Anyway all the best with the next version, any ideas of its release date? & hopefully I can get my money's worth in all areas ;)

Well yes sadly the instructions are not aimed at novices to coding im afraid. In other words for it to display on all pages, you need to include all the script names of those pages you want it displayed on in the "page deployment" and also include <!--{%SHOUTBOX%}--> within the template concerned.

To find the script name, open the PHP file that relates to the page. such as forumdisplay.php or index.php and search for

define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'pagename'); usually near the top of the php file on your FTP server.

Remember that 'pagename' is where you will find the script name.

m00, your best bet for support queries to be answered is using the official support forums - sometimes email may notget answered, for whatever reason (may not come to everyones attention, spam filters etc etc)

Unfortunately, while we make every attempt to do what customers ask, if we were to do what people requested as they requested it, we would never get anything done. Instead we put these things on the to do list for the next version :)

I'm sure you understand that it is not possible to do everything right then, we're only a small company after all, and with one of our coders indisposed (as is the case at the moment) and the other coder working 7 hours a day doing freelance work for a major company, it's literally impossible to do.

As far as a release date goes, we don't have one at the moment. Our next release of RPG Inferno is due before the next release of VBshout, but once that's released i should be able to give you a better idea of the release date. Obviously if our other coder gets access to the internet in the near future, then the release date can be brought forward significantly :)

All ya need to do Pixxie, is type in the page deployment box the page you want it to show on and then under that template add <!--{%SHOUTBOX%}--> under the $navbar.

Example: my page deployment has :
index,forumdisplay,showthread
Then in the forumdisplay , showthread tempates I have <!--{%SHOUTBOX%}-->

Index, forumdisplay, showthread; are the script names. Just seperate them by commas. :p

Does the Pro version allow you to set individual colors for each line of text? The Lite version allows you to do so but changes every line of text in the shoutbox you have entered to that color. I want to be able to bold on line and have the others stay in the same default format.

hi um. i'm sorry if this was mentioned somewhere in this thread. I might have missed it. but i have this isntalled and i love it so far. but I was wondering if there was a way to let users choose if they want to have it hide or show from their usercp.

i was able to figure out a way to make my own custom user field options. i made a radio button and filled in all the parts. however, i can tell it won't just magically work like that and that I need to enter the real working "parts" somewhere else. but i don't know where nor do i know what. should i make a new thread for this or can i ask here?

I am reading through these 33 pages of replys so far have not seen this question what do you do if you shoutbox is still loading? I just installed it and my shoutbox just sits there with the loading symbol going.

i got it working on vbadvanced, but its not as a module etc but it is effective, depending on where you put it!!

neo_obs has told me another way to do it and i will try that later. anyone interested in this before i type some instructions for you??
