I never did see the vbay control panel in the acp..
I looked and looked, but it was way at the top above options, and the panel was closed so i did not see it until about a 50th time looking for it. Got it. Works beautifully.
Since I am here and did get it up and running today, what are the plans for the picture upload, and also the paypal integration?
Also, I noticed if you ad a decimal in any of the bid boxes, it tends to give a sql error.
Thought id mention it, and thanks for a great mod.

i stared an auction, set it for 3 days. it says 2 days to go and it should have ended today. what cron should i use? or do i have something wrong?

Have you edited your crontab settings for it? I checked them and it only checks to close on a sunday.. Change that to a * so it checks every day. Also the hour setting change to *
It will then check every day, every hour and then every 0 10 20 30 40 50 mins.. So every 10mins it will check to close.

The count down doesn't close auctions... It just starts a - (negative) count down. On my test board I have two auctions which would have ended this morning. Their status now shows -0D 2H... etc..

Sorry about that, i think when i added the cron it only executes on sundays for some reason. :P oops. Image functions arent working ATM, but ill add some quck features while im at school right now.

As for certain usergroups being able to do certain things, only registered users can bid on auctions, and only people in the 'sellers' group can post auctions :)

Couple things.... I went ahead and installed this and it seems to be working correctly...

But... we definitely need a few basics. If I had a clue about coding i'd work on it but alas do not.

- Full Photo Support
- PM and/or email integration
- Auction editing capabilities once auction is submitted

And a question. In the admin area can you specifiy more than one usergroup who is allowed to post auctions? If not, this is a must!

Is the PM system new? As in just added within the last 12hrs? How do I get it working?

Editing - Should be able to edit any part of the auction up until the point a bid is made. I'm no coding guy but I should think that an "if/then" query could take care of it.

I seemed to have missed somthing, for some reason the cron is not running every 10 minutes.. To into your schedualed tasks and see when your Close Auctions task is running. somone said it was only running every sunday or somthing o.O

Hi!

I changed a lot, also the admin. More integration into vBulletin and also functions specificly for selling parrots. (see screenshot)

To work with the code will cost a few days 12+ hours per day so I don't know if the author has time for it or is interested in it at all ;)

It also uses some advanced technology that requires PHP 5.2 and since vBSEO requires Zend Optimizer and PHP5.2 and Zend Optimizer has a fatal bug (returning 404 errors randomly by a segmentation fault) and also other functions require advanced knowledge of Javascript and AJAX I don't know if the author is interested or able to do it (as then it might cost weeks to do it).

But I am willing to share some of the code if he is interested.

Btw one anti-hacking tip which is really important to know:

Users are able to execute MySQL queries if you do not escape posted data. E.g. if you have the folowing query:


"SELECT * FROM `table` WHERE `field`='{$postedinfo_x}' LIMIT 1"


Then a user could alter the code by submitting the folowing text:


' AND 1


Resulting in a return of all data. But also more harmfull queries could be performed like DROP TABLE or DROP DATABASE etc.

To protect against this, simply use the PHP function addslashes():


"SELECT * FROM `table` WHERE `field`='".addslashes($postedinfo_x)."' LIMIT 1"

However, the three tables on my "Help" page for vBay turn out black bg with black lettering so you can't read it. Im no PHP buff at all but I tried simple HTML to make bg white and font black and when I previewd it things looked fine, but when I save and check it on my live site its still black on black. Installed. I tested the product out with a few other people and its great in theory. Im looking forward to seeing this more rigorously developed. At the moment there are some features that arent working properly, which are to be expected with a beta release, so no complaint there. The basic features work very well with one major exception: when the auction ends, either it restarts and runs again (as reported by someone else, I havent seen this personally), or as in my experience, the auction goes into negative time and never closes.

Im really looking forward to seeing this in the future when some of the basic features are working better. Its great so far, but needs the current bugs fixed before more features should be developed.

PS: If you know of how to fix the negative time / no close issue that would be awesome. I was hoping to use this for a very basic charity auction but cant now - or at least until the auction closure issue is resolved. Thanks!

I've been getting ready to move form 3.5.x to 3.6.7 and decided to start tweaking vbay from scratch - I've made a notes of the basic changes I needed to make to get vbay functioning well enough to use. As you can see, most of them are small changes - I have not included any aesthetic changes - but hopefully they will help!

This change the look of vbay a little, but I haven't dug into it much yet, and it doesn't really bother me. If anyone can spot any mistakes here - please let me/us know! Thanks

Fixes a typo

Although the template mods above make the close auctions a little redundant when viewing the auctions, it is still required to move the auctions to the "Closed Auctions" section and the cron job also notifies sellers buyers via PM - you could change this to only happen every 15 or 20 minutes rather than 10 if you wanted. I had to manually add it as for some reason it wasn't added automatically:

In AdminCP, check the Scheduled Task Manager to see if the "closeauctions" cron job is there, if not manually add it - "Add New Scheduled Task"

I've found I also need to make a few changes to the MySQL database to get the vbay to allow fractional dollar values. To do this I changed the price, inc and reserve fields in the vbay_items table from "int" to "decimal(11,2)"

Another modification I've made is that if a bid is placed in the last 10 minutes of teh auction, teh auction end time is automatically extended to 10 minutes. I do this to stop sniping, and to also make it somewhat more like a 'real' auction as opposed to ebay.

I prefer not allowing editing of auctions because then users can basicly CHANGE what they are selling, and everything breaks out into a fight.

Images will be added in the future.

My users also try .50 for the bid increments and i have to tell them its atleast a dollar Can you make A Dollar default and put a must be atleast $1 , I like the way you have it i dont want 50,000 bids of 25 cents ect......

The Vbulletin WYSiWYG automaticly strips whitespace, and since vbay is using the vbulletin wysiwyg it will also be stripped of whitespace. I can check and see if this can be changed but no promises.

BTW I added the site supporters User Group ID To the allowed group and only allow reg users to Bid not sell , I also went through all user groups Above the Site Supporters and added Site Supporters as an additional User Group and it worked Great !

I think is Important to be able to Edit the Sell any time; if not, then a New Sell shall be Created in order to correct any mistake!! ;)

The Text Editor allows to create Line Breaks but when Shown to the Users those Line Breaks get lost and all the Text is presented one after the other in the same Line without any Line Spaces as first created!! ;)

Hey Blaine On the Category Listing Page I wish to change type (bid) to how many bids Have been placed on that item

Know What i mean ,,, The Type Collum is suppose to be for Buy it now ect.... I would rather it just say how many bids have been placed

Installed on a 3.6.4 forum and all is working apart from:

When I click on sell and enter any info for price description etc I get the following message on submit :

vBulletin Message
Make sure you have filled in all fields!

Also I can see no way of uploading images.

I have installed v 1.1.0

This mod has great potential, any help appreciated :)

You cant use .50 as bid intervals it has to be in $1 increments

ok found some more glitches. when you go to click on the font color button (the A with a black line under it) it dosen't do a popdown menu. it will only allow black. i had to manually do red. also when you preview the add you can't edit it. if you hit the page back button you have a blank form with nothing to edit. you would have to retype everything again. can we get an edit button beside the submitt button?

that's all i've found for now......
