I have the same issue. I added a quick upload to the message reply box to have the users make sure the cursor is flashing in the text box before clicking on the upload.

An update to this would be really nice if you included a feature to allow you to store the files on another server/site.

I have a problem...I moved my forums directory into a new folder, so now it's public_html/newfolder/forums instead of public_html/forums. So, I updated the Path to Forums in the vB Image Host Options, but now the images don't show when I'm viewing a user's images. The URLs in the text boxes below the images are also missing the /newfolder. Why didn't they update when I changed the options and how can I get it to update?

I also have a problem. I've installed the product, edited everything there was to edit and I when I try to upload a pic I get the ACCESS DENIED error. I am an admin so I should have all the rights to access the page. I've checked the permissions on my user group, I've checked the permission on the folder and it's 777. I don't know what else to do :S

I upgraded to 3.6.8, and had reinstall this module. Install went fine, but no link is showing up on the navbar--I've tried everything I can to get it back... what am I not thinking of?
Thanks

Rock on, thanks. Was in such a panic mode (most of the site not working) I didn't realize I hadn't done that.
Thanks!

I just installed ImageHosting and played around. How can I change the target of a thumb to _self instead of _blank? And how can I set a class to the thumb-link? (I tried to change the target in vbimghost_popupload_pre but with no luck)

I would have loved to install this but its a great shame that we cannot upload onto an external server.
I have added the quick uplaod and gallaries box in new thread / reply option. This works great. But how can I change the Image href from "vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=XX" to the Picture itself? e.g. imagehosting/5472e4166cadef.jpg
(I only want to open the picture if I click to the thumb, instead of open the Imagehost galerie.)
Any help pointing me to the right direction would be great!

How can I put random picture in my portal page (vBadvanced CMPS)? Thank you
on internet explorer 7
when i use quick upload it does not insert the image in post box
Same here. On IE7 users must first click in the post box, then use the user-photo-link (below the smilies) to add the photo into the message post box. If they don't do that, the photo appears above everything else on the page ad it isn't included into the post.
Also it only adds a small version of the photo, not the large version which is what I want.
I would LOVE to use this addon as it is very user friendly for my forum members... They don't have to go to the pain of getting their photo's somewhere on the internet, just beeing able to point and click is very very nice. Hope someone has a solution for the IE7 bug.

This looks great. One quick question for you.
How big is too big for a photo? I'm trying to upload a photo directly from my camera (3646x2736 3.5Meg) and it tells me "Uploaded file is not an image".
Smaller photos seem to work, and I did update the settings to allow a photo of that size.
EDITED TO ADD: If I try to upload any photo that's more than ~30k I receive this error:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function imagecreatefromjpeg() in C:\Inetpub\forum1\includes\vbimghost_include.php on line 53

Problem solved.
Apparently you REALLY do need the GD library installed and operating. On my windows server all I had to do was go into the php.ini file and remove the comment tag from the line that reads: extension=php_gd2.dll and then restart the IIS server.

Just a quick question bro.
Under the smilies I added those 2 links: open and quick upload.
When I click open there are the thumbnails, but when I click on one it sends the thumbnail and the url to it.
Is there a way to send the [IMG| tags so the pic is ready to see full size?
Thanx man

Hi,
This mod looks great, cant wait to get it up and running. I have a couple of questions though.
My site is hosted, should I use a http prefix to define the location of my forums.
Can I remove the link to your blog from the templates? Happy to donate etc if necessary.

Hmmm, just being looking at VB 3.7 and it looks pretty impressive. Anyway, the image facility in VB 3.7 seems pretty similar to this mod. Wondering whether this is now intergrated as part of vb 3.7 and if so whether worth installing or waiting for 3.7 release and updating.
Anyone provide some guidance?

Hi CP,
I have to agree, I really want to get this mod on the go now. I am hoping that VB 3.7 will save me this problem although I wonder how long it will be to the first stable release.
I installed this package before I realised that it wouldn't run on a hosted server.:erm:

I use this product, without issues...I have over 2500 images on two different vbsites. I have no issues of storage, bandwidth or cpu exceed limit. I see no reason to host externally.
To hide this from unregistered members just add <if></if> conditionals before & after in your navbar edit.

Well, what kind of storage space and bandwidth does it use?
I have my vBull on a separate hosting server to all my other files, and my bandwidth THERE is a lot less, (in the 10's of GB's) compared to my other servers which have TB's of bandwidth.
But if it is going to be integrated into VB3.7....ahhh lol

Do you have a link already to See the Pics uploaded? like..
<a href="$vboptions[bburl]/vbimghost.php?do=myimages">My Pics</a>
Be more specific and Im sure somebody here will help ya :)
The hack works perfect for me, probably try a new install, and dont forget to set the folder were you will upload the images to 777 and just double check everything on the install, should work.

Hello -
I like the features of this mod - however, is there a way to place this in the User Cp menu - and have it pop up in a seperate window --
I am also wondering how it would be possible to rename each image with a "ID" number which could be inserted into the BB Code, rather than a long link. This would make it much easier for non savy users... Any thoughts??
Cheers!

uninstall the whole thing. go into your server and delete the vbimagehost file in your database manually. reinstall everything and youll be good.

Great Mod. Installed and works like a charm.
"View all users images" is nice but can't we make it in a Gallery style, where you click on Gallery and all the pictures would show up !
It would also be nice to able to set how many images to show in the Gallery first page, before switching to next page.

Is there a query that can be run to remove images from the database that don't a respective file?
When our server crashed sometime ago, we lost a few days worth of image uploads, because of that, they can't be removed from the adminpanel OR the imagehosting area, because it tries to unlink the file first, and fails
I tried removing the check from the file itself, but it doesn't parse after doing that

Ok, for those who run VB on a hosted website and who have, like me, been struggling to get this mod to work on their sites - here is a solution (Thanks to VBadvanced (http://www.vbadvanced.com/))
VBadvanced include a nice script that will provide you with the folder structure (i.e filepath) of your site. simply register and download thier CMPS module. You will find the file you need in the extras (do not upload). File required is forumpath.php, instructions for its use are shown in the file.
upload, execute quesry i.e www.yoursitename/forums/forumpath.php
It will then return the query
ie. /home/a/b/c/d/e/yoursite/forum
This will then enable you to run VB image hosting on your site hosted server.
By the way, VBadvanced is a great mod and worth installing anyway :)
I hope this helps everyone out, I had been frustrated trying to sort this out for ages.
By the way - top mod!

Do they go on my server ( where my forums are)
You know, I don't understand why people don't read the authors' release notes...
What does it do ?
VB Image Hosting is a similar feature to imageshak and photopoket and online free image hosting, but this is for your members. it will allow them to upload and host their images on your servers, you can still manage the permissions and set the number of files for each group.
Hope that helps ;)

Is there any way to control who can view the pictures? Like permission levels? I have a closed forum, and it seems a unregistered user can view images. I can't find where to get this off unless I deny them access to the forum itself?
I'm looking for the same option. As it is now unregistered users can view images, and view members galleries. What is the best way to close this off to non-registered members?

I have finally gotten VB Image Hosting to work at my site. Most of my problem was being a complete newbie, and not getting the files in the right places in my home directory. In particular I hadn't put a .xml file in the .xml folder.
The Instructions in the install guide were a little hard to follow. But then, I think they were written to a more experienced audiance. Waiel was very helpful through e-mail, and patiently got me going right.
My members are very happy with this! Good work, Waiel!

if i upload a new image then delete its fine, but from previous installations i cannot delete.)

I've searched through almost every page on this thread to find an answer to my question but it hasn't happened yet.
I've seen a lot of the same questions as I have but they went un-answered. So does anyone have an answer for this question?
I keep getting this message every time I click on the upload many button
you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
and this message when I click on the quick upload one button.
Note that the quick upload will set the image viewing permission to public in order to add it to the post
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a question that is probably easily solved. I am only using this for placing images in my own news posts. So, is there any way I can get rid of the link attached to the picture? I want it so that when I place a picture in a post, it isn't linked at all. Please reply as soon as possible! Thanks.

I have not read through all 74 pages, to see if this has been noted, but I thought I would share with you, that you can add the Addon with this hack: Adding quick upload and gallaries box in new thread / reply, to your to your showthread_quickreply template as well.
Addon code from this mod:
<fieldset id="vbimghostbox" title="$vbphrase[vbimghost_title]">
<legend>$vbphrase[vbimghost_myphotos]</legend>
<table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" border="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="smallfont" colspan="$vboptions[smcolumns]">
[<a href="#" onclick="window.open('vbimghost.php?do=popup&ed=$editorid','vbimghost1','scrollbars=yes,resizab le=yes,width=550,height=500'); return false" title="Pick">$vbphrase[open]</a>] [<a href="#" onclick="window.open('vbimghost.php?do=popupload&ed=$editorid','vbimghost2','scrollbars=yes,resizab le=yes,width=562,height=97'); return false" title="Upload">$vbphrase[vbimghost_quickup]]</a></td>
</tr>
</table>
</fieldset>
I added that to the very bottom of my showthread_quickreply template as well.

Same for me .... but does this work with 3.7 so far ?
Same here.
Anyone?
Also, if it's native in 3.7, then is there any way to port over what we already have so that users don't loose their images?

The only way know how to do is to go to your image gallery, where your image is. Click that image. Copy url & replace it with the text to display image in your news. That way, you are not using the thumb_nail & link back to your gallery. There may be an edit to change this, but this is easy enough for me.

I normally in the past hate posting in these topics because I usually get avoided like the plague but I am going to try again.
I had major issues with my site over the last week or so and finally got them all figured out. When I returned my images were lost which is not my problem. My problem is as follows.
All the users that put in images before the problem are now blank. The boxes and everything appear but there is no image anymore. I really just want to get rid of all these boxes but I get this error when trying to delete the image " Unable to delete the image" this problem occurs in the admin cp and in the forum.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

BB Code IMG setting from the Hosted Images list get's you the right tag. The image will be unlinked and at full size. Copy & Paste, simple. If you are looking for some other automated way, maybe throwing money at the author would help?

Werid, I had to add class="alt1" within all the <td> lines under Statics for the BG in the xml file and upload it again to match my current styles. I just have to add that class code to the BG under "View Users Pictures" as well. I'm getting a black BG. Nothing too serious, just annoying. Food for thought :o

it is insecure
my site hacked 3 times by uploading shell through this plugin
i am very sure , the shell files uploaded in folder that used to host images !
This concerns me. Can it be confirmed as fixed?
Other than that
1) More advanced permissions please - option to show images to ALL, Registered Members Only, Self Only, for example.
2) VBA CMPS module to show random thumbnails.
3) Template edit clean ups. I've had to do a bit of minor editing to correct things aesthetically. Good job on the phrasing though :)

I want the users not only to set their images public or private but be able to show their, lets say public2 gallery, to special users they can choose or to protect this gallery with a password they can give to users they want to show.
Is this possible? Any Ideas out there?

Hey there,
I don't know what went wrong, but all of a sudden the VB image host stopped working in a testing-forum of mine (vb3.6.9). It worked quite normal and fine, the next day I cannot upload pictures anymore, I now get this error message:

Got a minor issue with this.
If i upload a widescreen screenshot at 1680*1050 res, it uplaods and returns me to a completly blank screen [no error message at all]
If i resize the image locally on my PC to 1280*768 and upload again, it works perfectly.

FTP client, navigate to your forum dir, then select set permissions on the downloads dir and change it to read/write/execute on all (owner, group, public) or simply enter 777 in numeric box. Most FTP clients work like this.

05-04-2008, 03:40 AM
Yes, I know that - however that's not the point. The point is that the users should be able to access their old uploaded images sent via VB Image Hosting.
On a related note to the above, would it be possible to 'import' image hosting files into the new 3.7 image album?

Yes, I know that - however that's not the point. The point is that the users should be able to access their old uploaded images sent via VB Image Hosting.
They still can see them if you don?t delete the FTP Folder of them.

I would like to change the code so it inserts a full size image and not a clickable thumbnail 9since I have a resize feature, no need for thumbnail insertion)
Anyway, I am messing with
result = '[url='+ dispath + ']https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/[/url]';
and changing it to
result = 'https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/';
obviously inserts just a thumbnail but what do I need to swap for thumbp to get the path to the full size image? I tried path but it doesn't work, it just gives the same as the display path.
I want to do this in the gallery popup and the quick upload.

I have a 4 vb license, I have this mod add to each site. One site http://outerzone.us I have an issue with this mod. All settings are the same per vb Image Hosting on each site for Admin Usergroup.
The problem I am having is that when any Admin tries to Upload an image, they receive the following Message:
You already have the max number of images allowed to upload.
But, I am not getting this message on my other vb sites.
Permissions Image for Admin Usergroup

Any help will be appreciated.
EDIT: I fixed it.

You may need to add the file type you are trying to upload to the Allowed extentions located in your admincp/vbimage hosting/

When styles are added, they should be added as child styles, if not you will need to edit each style with the proper template edits for it to work in those styles.

Here is an odd question: I would like to use this as the image gallery for my forum, but I would like to have the images that are hosted placed on my other URL on my server. For example if my forum address is www.example.com/forum - instead of having the 'imagehosting' folder inside /forum - I would like to put it on my other site - www.othersite.com/imagehosting - that is not a forum site at all (but would serve as the image hosting site.)
This way all the images would be stored at that site and have that URL instead of my forum's url.
Ok - why do I want to do this? There are a couple of reasons but the main one is that I want to be able to cache the images in the forum using the ImageCache hack. If the image comes from my forum url, then the ImageCache hack will not cache the image and if a user deletes an image from his album to make room for another,--- if that image was used in the forum, --- it then disappeares and leaves a blank or red x where the image used to be :( thus screwing up that particular thread in the forum.
I thought about just turning off the 'delete' permissions in this modification, but decided that would mean no one could ever change his or her gallery. - That would not be cool. My users have lots of photos and I am sure they would run out of space and start deleting to make room for more.
But I don't want to have missing images in the forum either, so I would like to have the image cached.
I like this hack very much, but cannot use it unless there is a way to store the images on my non-forum site.
Any idea how to do that?
Thanks,
K
BTW - (I installed this on my test forum and it works wonderfully in 3.7 - I sure hope to be able to install it on my real forum and click INSTALL here!)

Never mind, I figured it out. now I want to delete the images that didn't show up before I fixed the problem but they won't delete.
The only way could find to fix this problem (and I'm sure there is a geekier, hi tech way) was to create images and name them whatever the images that won't delete are named. Then upload them to your imagehosting folder so there is actually something there to delete.
The problem was that vBulletin thinks there are images there, so it lists their file names. When it goes to display or delete them though, it can't find them and freaks the frack out. This fixes that. :)

Not sure if it would work but I'd try this..
in the file product-ao_vbimghost.xml, go to line 750 and change the path to the complete url you want your pictures stored in on the other domain. So long as your database information is the same I think it should work. (You may have to set the final folder name in the vbIMG Options in the Admin panel.
You have a vb here: http://www.site1.com/vb
You want images hosted here: http://www.site2.com/vb/imagehosting
(On site2 create the folders vb (or forums or whatever your normal vbulletin folder is called) with a subfolder called imagehosting even if you don't have a vb on that site - and make sure you CHMOD it 777)
i.e. - if the path to where you want your images hosted is http://www.site2.com/vb/imagehosting I'd just try typing in http://www.site2.com (on line 750), then save the file and import and overwrite the product again (In the vbulletin cp).
Then type in the folder imagehosting in the admin control panel options for the image hosting in vbulletin. Just an idea, but it might work.

I don't know if this will work or not, it was just an idea I thought you may want to try. So keep in mind that this may not work. But if I were doing it this is just what I would try.
After looking at it further, what I told you to change in the XML file was wrong. I think this may work though.
In product-ao_vbimghost.xml find:
<defaultvalue>/home/user/public_html/forums</defaultvalue>
and change it to:
<defaultvalue>http://www.site2.com/vb/imagehosting</defaultvalue>
(Obviously change the text site2 to the domain name you want to use.)
Save the file and then import the product again. Ensure that you click the overwrite option.
Make sure you've also done this:
* Created the folder vb on site2
* Created the subfolder imagehosting inside the vb folder.
* CHMOD the folders to 777.
In your vbIMG hosting options in the Admin CP it should reflect the changes you made in the XML file pertaining to the image paths. Just double check that amke sure it does. Then scroll down and submit the page.
I hope this works for you. :)

Just kidding. I think you just have one too many forward slashes in between forum and imagehosting.
I'm guessing you have a trailing slash in front of your image path in your Vbimghost Options. Remove it.:)

Hello.
I just install the VB Image Host to upload pictures to my own server. And it works perfectly, upload the images without any problem.
But the fact is that this mode has an option to add a watermark to images uploaded, you can add a text to a logo to the image that these rising. Well, the latter by more than probe nor I was not able to add a text to the image or upload a logo. That can not add the logo is worth it, I may be wrong on something, but that does not even let me add a text to the photo and wonder more.
If anyone knows which may be the fault him agradeceria much to help me.
We add a snapshot of the panel.
