how can I show total thnak you number on main page It would be helpfull to spicify in which page exactly (forumhome etc...) and exactly which thank you value (poster, thread thanks etc... you want to display. Even then I'm not sure that the variables are available outside the postbit templates

I would suggest you to go to your database, (phpMyAdmin instructions)
enter into (prefix)user table scroll sideways till you see the the "examine" button
press it and now look for the column called post_thanks_thanked_posts and press it twice so it is in descending order. IF its empty I'm sorry, but I think they got cleaned up. Either that or 3.5 used a different name for this column so they are not using the same values. If you installed in any stage of the upgrade, all the thank you tables get cleared up, so it would be a restart from 0.

Something that could work is the counters added for the thank you hack in the admincp.

I just installed this (6.2) on my test forum (3.6.7 PL1) but the button isn't showing up for some reason.

I only have one buttons folder and the image is in there. :confused:

so click on "[View History]" on those templates, and you will be able to compare the changes between the templates.

postbit and navbar templates are not in this list, but still not working!

That means that those templates are up to date. However make sure that postbit legacy has the hooks mentioned earlier on this post specially $template_hook[postbit_controls] , navbar ($template_hook[navbar_quick_links_menu_pos1]). And then make sure all the files uploaded are uplaoded correctly, sometimes the fields are not fully uploaded (nothign to do with this hack) but yeh... happens so make sure they are good ^^

Have you checked the database to see if the fields have any info in then or the old 3.5 ones are still in there somewhere?

Ok, I have ran version 5.3 for a long time, and yesterday I used the "Update Post Thanks Post Amount" option for the counters. It was taking a looong time, about 2 hours, so I just closed my server window.

Now when I tried to backup my database I got this error:

Seeing as this is fairly fresh on my board and there are a lot of users who don't actually deserve to have 0 thanks in their postbit profile, I'd like to hide the counts until the system is better established, just showing the thanks in the posts themselves for now.

and remplace the highlighted with 0
you will get <div style="padding:0px 0px 0px 0px"> as result ^^.

I'm not a database expert (I wish I knew more) but this line doesn't look right to me
SHOW CREATE TABLE post_thanks; SHOW and create? I know create table makes a table called that but then also show?. Besides if you already have a table called that I don't think you can recreate it... And also if you are doing a backup why would it be creating a existing table?

The name of the upper hook is wrong, it should be called $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left].

I've changed the above in my templates but for some reason when I display the post it still looks the same....

Could this be vBSEO or vB caching the data?

You have the idea the wrong way around. The upper (shorter) one indicates the number of times you have GIVEN thanks to other people. While the longer one is the number of times YOU have been thanked.

post 1293 has $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_right] twice. You should (must) delete the first right hook. My guess is you are using this second template, as a result the thanks info box is being showed twice. Just delete the first right hook and it should be fixed ^^

<if condition="$bbuserinfo[usergroupid] == 6"> (in order for ONLY admins to be able to see it) and put </if> at the very end. That should do the trick, otherwise, just delete the whole content of the template, and when you want to show it again, just revert it ^^.

There are a number of ways to achieve this.

Option A (is the one I use on my site) is to use a hidden div and make it visible when you click on an image. [Warning: this system is not compatible with Opera. I have tried to use it but pressing the images with Opera doesn't seem to work sadly]

Option B is to set a profile field to indicate if you want them visible or not.

I have tried to use the collapse system from vbulletin, but failed to make it compatible with this.
I'm not sure if it is a problem or not, but it only works when it is pressed, meaning that if you leave the psot and come back the box will be hidden again and you will have to press the button once again to see its contents

I'm having some issues :( It's been a while since I installed the hack and I just noticed that when threads have more than 1 post, the image (thank you image) is duplicated along with the thanks information in the header.

So, for post1 - 1 header/button, for post2 - 2 headers/buttons/, etc...

It will go on forever. I don't know what I might have done to get this to happen... any clues?

That template is only available on version 6.2. So I'm assuming you are using 6.0 Gold. On this version, you do the modification post_thanks_postbit_info does directly into your postbit(_legacy) template.

I upgraded vB from 3.6.4 to 3.6.7 and installed the new Thank you hack right away (with extra plugin bug fix).
I then went away for 3 days and returned to lots of complaints of a slow forum. First thing I did was disable all the plugin hacks. I think it's the Thank You hack which is crippling our forum. I have disabled it for now. Is it likely to be having a big effect on the server?

Do you have any idea how to remove the "Thanks: 0" from the postbit legacy. As my postbit is quite busy already I want to lose the stat to show how many times a user has thanked other users, but keep the stat to say how many times that user has been thanked by others.

I haven't. I don't think it is likely to cause any slowness in the server, maybe one of the plugins in combination with other hacks might have some problem, but for me is working fine :D

Yes yiu may upgrade, USE 6.0 gold instead of 6.2.
In order to upgrade, just reupload all the new files to the FTP, reinstall the product, with overwrite on YES, and redo ALL template modifications following the instructions.

For some months I was allowing Thanked posts to give a reputation points of 5, however I have now disabled that feature so that it now gives 0 reputation points for each thanked post. I was just wondering if it was possible to remove all the points that were given by thanked posts but leaving the posts thanked if that makes sense?

Wait, if you go to the reputation section on the admincp, you can delete reputation individually user by user, I know, it is very anoying and exosting, but I don't think this hack includes that feature.

No files need to be removed as far as I remember. All template edits must be removed though. Install the new version and the fix.

only 6.0 gold works propelly on 3.6.4, the other 2 files are for 6.2 and vbulletin 3.6.7 so if you want to upgrade, your only option would be gold.

Regarding the problem with hide hack not working propelly with this hack, I think it would be more a problem of the hide hack instead of the thanks hack, since the purpose of the hide hack is be compatible with this hack, and that doesn't seem to be happening

Get the "product template hook vb367 fix.zip" and install it as a prduct, it should solve the problem.

Go look in phpmyadmin on how big the post_thanks table is. Mine is a little under 10mb with almost 150,000 thanks.

Make sure you remove all old template edits and make sure you have the new ones that vb3.6.7 comes with. (A bunch of $template_hook[])

Remove all template edits you made for this hack and make sure you have the latest update to your templates that VB wants you to have.

The arrow appears when you replied in the thread (ie. posted). I think it's usefull if the arrow button also appears when you thanked a post in a thread but didn't post a reply (thanked only). On my board the thanks kinda replaces the reply system as a meaning of showing appreciation.

I have a vb3.0.7 forum where a custom thanks hack was made by a member. I do not know if he used your version as a basis. The thanks system is there since begin 2005. It does work well and has some extra features:
- show thanks on content posts only (ie. show thanks on image or attachment posts)
- has a thanks all buttons (thanks all posts in a thread)
- marks thread as 'replied' when a thanks is made

A copy of that forum is now migrated to vb367 with your thanks hack, hence my questions. If you are interested I can give you access to that forum.

Thanks Abe1 for this hack. I installed this the other day and everyone loves it. I changed things up a little bit and made it so when user click the thanks or groan it keeps a running total (+3 or -1, that type of thing) and displays that. The buttons also grey out instead of disappearing.

I thought I had seen this sort of thing requested somewhere or another. I'll throw it together and upload it somewhere if anyone wants it, though I don't know how tough it would be to edit it to work with a default installation.

You have to revert the templates that have a $template_hook in it.

Edit the post_thanks_postbit template. Look at one of the first things in there. I think you have to change a number from 5 to 0.

It seems like you edited something yourself. I do not have a table called 'thanks'. It is called 'post_thanks'. How can this query call post thanks?

Anyways, this did NOT crash your forum. All you have to do is to disable plug-ins. You can do that via the config file I believe.

Moved post thanks stats in postbit from hook postbit_userinfo_right to hook postbit_userinfo_right_after_posts. (for vb 3.6.8 and <3.6.6)
Released for all versions of vb 3.6.x


Just make sure you ONLY have template edits that the instructions tells you. For some of the versions, there is a file to tell you want template edits you need if you have a custom style.

Nevermind, just disregard my early question. It's just that Post Thank You Hack 6.2 doesn't add the template hooks for styles other than the default. I'm using vBulletin 3.6.8. With the new version of the Post Thank You Hack (6.3), will I still need to add the template_hook manually for some styles?

Just make sure you have them all done. Do a global template search to make sure you have each of the lines in. There is one new one since vb3.6.7 which you need.

Yes you can.

Just for the info, the other user never did the postbit_legacy template edits so it was not showing.
