Any thoughts on what might cause this?

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 611198 bytes) in /home/*****/public_html/forums/includes/rpg_plugins/global_complete.php(5) : eval()'d code on line 2

It happens when trying to read a thread in the forum, totally unrelated to this hack. As the error has noted I am running php5I believe this can be fixed by running the "Rebuild RPG Users" Maintenance function.
If not, then I suggest you contact your host and hear what they have to say, because it is the first time I have ever heard of this error in relation to this hack so I don't know any more for certain.
Right, but i only use the regular postbit in my site and you havent built in the rpg info into it yet correct?Ah, that is correct.

I ran the rebuild (theres only two users as we're still testing) and it didn't change anything.

I repaired and optimized all tables within vbulletin and ran a repair on the mysql database from my host.

Disabling the hack - everything works fine.
Changing from php5 to php4 - hack enabled - everything works fine.
php5 enabled - hack enabled - I get this error but only on a certain few posts.

I can't seem to find any condition that only exists on those few posts it errors on. They are normal posts.

It certainly appears this hack and php5 don't really like one another very well.

Which I find odd given the fact that
a) I know of a forum that runs this on php5
b) I develop on php5.1

I would contact your host about increasing the memory limit.

I find it odd that it only happens on a few posts. There does not seem to be any regularity to the issue, it's sporadic. Since I installed this on a live board, could something have happend during the installation? I mean those posts aren't calling to that file to start with and there appears to be no connection between those posts and this hack.

The hack itself does seem to run fine under php5.

the user recache should have solved it as that is the cure for most postbit related errors, but if its not fixed then Id check with your host about increasing the memory limit.

I was wrong.

I am working on Patch Level 1 (PL1) which will be released for 3.5.4 and, shortly after, 3.6.0 Beta 1.
Problems adressed during this beta is:

"Invalid Monster Battle" messages appearing incorrectly (untested fix, I am unable to reproduce and I will need someone to verify)

That only happens to you because you are Administrator.
That is the function of Is Game Master, you are able to bypass the following things:

"You are in battle" errors on healing etc
Level checks on items
battle type checks on items


Enabled by default on Admins, SMods and Mods. Reason for this is that your staff should be trusted =p

Thats just a small phrase problem as Im using the same phrase for both monster battle (where you gain gil) and regular battle.
Had to differentiate the two phrases.

You can just ignore it as it doesnt cause any harm, if there will have to be another Patch Level on the RPG Ill try to remember to include it.

Now, before I start, don't think I find your product any less than what is of the obvious, please.

I remember playing this version of the hack a good while back over on cmgsccc. I loved how it used the posts per day to add a nice buff bonus to the characters JUST for being an active user and it was a nice gift to them for that as well. I liked it so much, even after installing the RPG Inferno version 2.x, I wondered if it would run in conjunction with the version 1 of the RPG Hack.

My question, if I wanted to leave the version 2 up for the users that's played it for quite a while, is it possible to also run this version of YOUR hack as well? I would personally love to have this version back, and the other Admins would like to have the version they paid for as well running. What do you find would be the effect if I tried running both, if anything Revan?

Ok, new problem. When resetting my character I get this error message:

how can i make the navigation bar work when i am on the photopost page or the vbadmin page? (they are in different folder directories)

Ive made a small update to this hack.
If all goes as planned, I should have eradicated the SQL Syntax errors in the AdminCP, as well as fixed some bugs with editing/resetting users RPG stats in general.

Also, due to popular demand, I have backported my Admin-level Navbar Style option.
You may now choose to either have the RPG Navbar as a secondary navbar, or as a dropdown menu (like Quick Links in vB).
Note: You will have to edit the navbar template in order to gain this functionality.

I have also added an Admin-level option to hide what version of the RPG you are using when displayed in the footer.

Still no news regarding v4, I've been busy as well as being on holiday from most of the coding biz.

Someone else already used your name.

That's not an error with my RPG. Your MySQL tables have urinated on themselves, and you should go to your AdminCP -> Repair / Optimise Tables -> click Check All, then Alt+S to start the repair process.

Revan I did what you said about running the optimize and it failed on me.
I contacted the host and they ran an optimize from their end and fixed it :rolleyes:

Battle Type: This specifies the category's battle type. It contains a drop-down of possible options that are built-in to the battle hack. All items in the category will have the category's battle type.

I think an awesome addition to this mod would be to have the option of allowing users to attack eachother directly, like all you have to do it click attack on the postbit and you are automatically entered into a battle with them. When somone is dead they should have a little tombstone in the postbit too. I think these two features would make the rpg a little quicker and more fun. Great hack so far though! I used to use ibprobattle on my ipb board but I switched to vb and started using this one. Most of my members like this one better because of the depth but some members really liked the idea of attacking anyone at any time by just clicking attack on the postbit. I tried rpginfero and this one is def. better.

Actually, I figured it out. Go into the includes\xml folder, delete any xml files that have the word rpg in it.

I've followed the midi advice in the thread so far. Renamed them from mid to midi, put in the /forums/rpg_music/midi folder. Only alphanumeric characters in filename. Yet still getting the battle music does not exist error.

Hi there, I got the RPG hack working and everything but it has seem to "lock" me in battle. I can't leave or join a new battle. Any ideas?

I've followed the midi advice in the thread so far. Renamed them from mid to midi, put in the /forums/rpg_music/midi folder. Only alphanumeric characters in filename. Yet still getting the battle music does not exist error.
Are you sure you just entered the filename and not also the extension?

Patch Level 2 released. This is a test release, since it fixes quite a few problems with ClanCP and I have no way of testing these explicit fixes with the old RPG 3.5 core code.
The bugs fixed are:
* "Send Clan Invite" would incorrectly give an error saying the Clan had too many members
* "Join Clan" would incorrectly give an error saying all Clans had too many members
* "Send Clan Invite", "Send Clan Message" and other bits of the ClanCP involving sent PMs would give an error if one of the recipients didn't have permission to recieve PMs, had a full PM folder or disabled PMs.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE HAVING UPGRADED TO vBulletin 3.6!
DO (!!!) NOT (!!!) run the install/upgrade script! This will corrupt your installation and you will have to manually import ./installer/hacks/rpg_integr_hack/product-rpg_integr_hack.xml through the AdminCP Add/Import Product interface.
It is NOT needed to run the upgrade script, it's only a version number increase. All the fixes exist in clancp.php so technically this is the only file you need to upload onto your webserver.

install went smooth but none of the images show, like class and element stuff. i took a minute to examine the class table in my database and realized the installer installs 2 sets of males and 2 sets of females. the 2nd set of each one has gender IDs of 4 and 5. think this might be an issue. i noticed this has some issues that the old Bitsys RPG system had that needs fixing. ill make a list of everything i find

Guessed wrong... I set the money table to VBbux, I did that right after we started getting mysql errors when posting.

Again the problem is that only ONE USERS has no gils, everyone else has gils.

You probably don't have the templates installed on the style, reupload the product file via the admincp and that should fix it (I think)

removed that in phpmyadmin and ran the installer again.. got a couple more errors so then I removed them and tried it again and eventually got it to work..

All it was.. was because I tried to install it earlier before finding out about the patch so some of the mysql had been added.

Is there a way to improve bots? They seem to only be able to use fists which makes their accuracy not that good and their damage even lower. So like my bots rarely ever manage to hit me, and when they do manage to.. I only get damaged for like 97 damage.. yet I'm hurting them for close to 1,000. O.o

Also is elements not currently setup or something? I notice it in admin cp.. but elements is no where to be found to select for your character on the rpg itself.. so hmm I dunno.

Also it seems level requirements for items, weapons, etc.. in the itemshop doesn't work. I have an item set to like level 50 for the requirement.. but a level 7 member was able to purchase and equip it.

This rpg system seems pretty good, but it needs to be fixed up and improved more.

When is the PP system going to finally get used as well? =P

Hello all.

As you are probably aware of, this hack hasn't received any updates for quite some time.
The fact that I am busy with the college life is only partially the truth. Long story short, I lost motivation to work on this hack.
I don't want to explain this any more in-depth, so let's just leave it at that.

As for the future of the hack, I can say with 99% certainty that I won't be doing any updates for the immediate future.

However; two months ago, I gave a member called "Foghorn Deadhor" permission to have a coder he knows post a bugfix version. I wanted to let the two of them take over the hack, but his coder didn't have the time.

As it would appear that no such version has appeared (also, the member himself seems to have vanished from the Members List), so that leaves me no other choice than to ask the general public to find me someone who would be either willing to bugfix it, or (preferably) take it over completely.
However, I don't want just anybody to take over what I spent 3 years working on.

Requirements for posting bugfix version:

Good command of the English language.
Good knowledge of PHP, including elements of OOP.
Ability to identify bugs and work together with users to determine the nature of the bugs (or lack thereof) and promptly fix it/them.Requirements for taking over the hack:
All of the above.
Either:
Keep the hack free.
Release a free version with NO LESS features than the CURRENT hack.
If you want to release a paid version, I would like to see a small percentage of the sales based on the level of participation I have in the development, as well as the amount of my code you are using.
To be discussed.
Agree with my vision of making the hack INTEGRATED with the forum (unlike Inferno, which is purely a separate page of the forum. I want it to become a PART of the forum, not just something on the sidelines).
If you are interested in taking over the hack, I want to work together with you/your team to provide feature suggestions, help maintain the vision of the hack and possibly also be a part of the development team (though just not as primary developer, if I could do that then I wouldn't be posting this post).

Yes, and thats where I noticed why it was giving a error, its used properly there, but not where it needs to be added :P

This mod is pretty much unsupported now, so I guess it's up to us to help keep it going.

From what I understand, 3.6+ has trouble with the mod unless you install it in 3.5, then upgrade to 3.6. Kinda a pain in the butt, but I believe others have it working. I'm still on 3.5, so it's been rather easy for me.

I use iCash and it seems to work fine. It works for any points system as long as you put in the proper "money" names in.

My two biggest concerns are:

1. The invalid battle bug users get, when they get stuck in a battle with monster in the monsterarena

2. The invalid battle bug users get when they can't battle another person

3. And one of the biggest, the fact that any secondary categories don't work. For example, I have created 3 additional Spell Slots for the users, so they can have a choice of 4 different spells at one time. The first spell category works great...but every additional spell slot doesn't work. That goes for potions, items, etc. If I have more than one, no dice. This is kinda frustrating, as I think the base number is kinda limited since they can't select more than one item in battle.

I have an issue. I tried to install without the patch at first and got hung up at step 6. I came back and got the patched files uploaded those and restarted the installer. Now I get stopped at step 4, becuase tables have already been altered. Here is an example of the errors im getting;

Ok, Here are the tables that need to be deleted from your phpmyadmin for anyone who had the same issue as me.
Table: Administrator
field: rpgadminperms

Table: usergroup
field: rpgperms (or something but it had rpg prefixed to it)

Table: user
fields: rpg, items, inventory

After that install the patched files. They can be found on page 42 of this thread or you can pm me and i'll send em to you.

After that start the installation over again and the hack will install without problems.

What version of vb are you running? My first advice would be to delete the install.php file from your FTP and re-upload it. It's possible you may have lost a character or two during the upload. It happens sometimes.

i have one member, who keeps on saying he cant heal after a monster battle.

I hv directed instructions to go to heal centre and place the cursor inside the box to type the required figure to heal.

If I won a battle a quote occures with following message in it:

If anyone wants to know how to get past this error on step 4, you delete the following fields from the tables:

after you delete those, run the patch.

dang, all i want is a simple member vs. member battle mod that lets you buy weapons, spells, etc. with the credits you've earned on other parts of my board, like my casino.
People love to get credits, but they dont have any uses for them. I mean, I could 'sell' stuff through the iShop mod but what good does that do? Just to display them? I need a real use for them!
Well, hopefully somebody can maybe make something similar to this and support it. I'm no coder at all and far from it. I just run a star wars collecting forum. :D

Mine is working correctly... I have 100 monsters and lots of items... there are some bugs, in the inventory where you can duplicate the items, but members don't know it... so they can't cheat... but the hack overall is working fine.

I'm using all latest version both forum and rpg hack... there are some modified files that allow you to do a fresh install on the latest vB version... But if you don't find them (they are in this thread) you can always install it in vb3.5, and then upgrade to latest vb version.

I'm actually running 3.7.2, so I'm kind of skeptical to install this because last time I installed it on 3.7.0., and even with the suggested fixes, I saw a few crazy errors.

The only issue I find can be annoying is the fact that a post is needed upon level up to increase HP/MP levels...

FYI: Copying the contents of the 'rpg_stats' template into the 'rpg_postbit' or 'rpg_postbit_legacy' template will show stats in your postbit after adding $rpg_postbit or $rpg_postbit_legacy to whichever template your forums draw from :)

I would say a fresh install may help...

I had to do it 3 times before getting it to work properly...had to go into the SQL and remove all instances referring to the rpg hack.

Read back a few pages for help doing this :)

Update: That particular file was not agreeing with some rules on my host (HostGator), and I had to contact them to correct the issue.

I have a user getting the same Invalid Battle bug, is there any work around?

This mod is pretty much unsupported now, so I guess it's up to us to help keep it going.

From what I understand, 3.6+ has trouble with the mod unless you install it in 3.5, then upgrade to 3.6. Kinda a pain in the butt, but I believe others have it working. I'm still on 3.5, so it's been rather easy for me.

I use iCash and it seems to work fine. It works for any points system as long as you put in the proper "money" names in.

My two biggest concerns are:

1. The invalid battle bug users get, when they get stuck in a battle with monster in the monsterarena

2. The invalid battle bug users get when they can't battle another person

3. And one of the biggest, the fact that any secondary categories don't work. For example, I have created 3 additional Spell Slots for the users, so they can have a choice of 4 different spells at one time. The first spell category works great...but every additional spell slot doesn't work. That goes for potions, items, etc. If I have more than one, no dice. This is kinda frustrating, as I think the base number is kinda limited since they can't select more than one item in battle.

If anyone has any fixes to this....I would appreciate the help. And obviously, there's other people that need to know as well, so if you know how to handle these situations, then please feel free to help us out.

They're forward if your looking at them on your server. They're backwards if your looking at them on your hard drive.

I have a user that has a bugged item shop. Whenever they sell, they get the money, but the item stays in their inventory, allowing them to repeatedly sell the same item.

I'm not sure how to handle this. I've checked the database tables, and I have no idea where it's even specified what items users own.

I just did what you did in step 4. So i got the same error here.
In phpMyAdmin i used the "search" option and searched every value in the table datastore.

I mean these:

I think that isn't necessarily to do with the RPG hack but with another one, more specifically a points mod. If you installed Ucash/Ustore or Ebux or Vbplaza (just to name a few from the top of my head) then there should be some kind of option in the admin cp where you can edit all that information. :)
