Well, let me say, that this hack is one of the useful hacks even for a board that has photography as main content. So users are allowed to host their photos on our server without using 3. party hosting services.
In that way we use this stuff.
Thanks for...! :-)
One thing more is to say that the support from the coder is fantastic and not how to notice in some hacks which were released here the coder is after a short time no longer available for his own stuff.
Once again, thanks for your great work on this!
Is there an update realease date? I was going to install here today but decided not to since I read that there was going to be another update.

are you sure that you changed it .. cus i still see it
if you want me to do it for you please PM me the admin access to your forums
Maybe I'm saying somthing wrong here.
Let me try again. Whenever I click on the FORUM and then click on the VBimaging it works fine. When I click on Gallery and the gallery page is up and them click on VBimaging I get the error page.
http://www.rareclownfish.com/gallery/vbimghost.php?do=myimages
All I want is when my users are surfing forum or gallery they can click from anywhere on the board and get a working link to the image hosting.
Thanks

ok, I made the update, now I viewed my images threw the admincp and I deleted an image of mine like this and when I deleted it I got this error.
Warning: unlink(/imagehosting/24439aed369b82.jpg): No such file or directory in /admincp/vbimghost.php on line 279
also, I have a question for ya. In you readme.txt, you say
Step 1a (Config.php) [VERY IMPORTANT]
Make sure that you have set the correct path for the $config['Misc']['forumpath'] if you don't know the path contact your host.
if you don't set it the admin part of the script won't be functional at all. What file do I set this to?
because my line in the config.php is just = ' '

you should set the
$config['Misc']['forumpath'] in the config file
this variable should have the absolute path to the forums
for example
if your host is using cpanel in linux most of the paths will look like this
/home/username/public_html/forums
where the username is the your account username
and the forums is the vbulliten directory
also you can view it from the cpanel menu
when you use the File Manager drill to the forums directory and try to edit any file
you should find the complete path in the top of the editing box

So here's the latest of issues with this. When I install it on a default style it works great. However when I install it on a style that I am currently using on the board instead of making a link in the current navbar for the logged in user it creates a whole new navbar. So now I have 2 nav bars. Is there any way to correct this so I just get a link in the current navbar?
Update: I have resolved the issue. There were other templates that the older style was using such as "header" that needed to be modified in order to view the option in the navigation bar. Thanks for the awesome product btw, your hard work is always appreciated.

first thing you still using old ver !
2nd that is not a second menu your menu increased the height since there is no space left in width :)
change your screen resolution and you won't see that problem :)
Oh no hold on. I just made the width of the browser window smaller so when I took a screenshot of the image it would not mess up this forum when I posted in it.
Like I said before, i fixed that problem. The link and the popup menu looks great in the navbar. But when I go to "upload image" there are no browse buttons in the page. Look at "image to upload:" there is nothing afterwards. Your screenshot shows that there should be 5 boxes in there that I can browse out to images in order to upload them but those buttons aren't there.

Do you mean in the config.php file in the inclues folder?
I have added the path to this code:
$config['Misc']['forumpath'] ='/home/XXXXX/public_html/';
// ******** FULL PATH TO FORUMS DIRECTORY ******
// On a few systems it may be necessary to input the full path to your forums directory
// for vBulletin to function normally. You can ignore this setting unless vBulletin
// tells you to fill this in. Do not include a trailing slash!
// Example Unix:
// $config['Misc']['forumpath'] = '/home/users/public_html/forums';
// Example Win32:
// $config['Misc']['forumpath'] = 'c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\vb3';

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. "
Any ideas as of why this is happening to me as an admin? lol!

Great product, recent install.
I did see you answered someone's question about a watermark feature. Will be looking forward to that.
Also as a suggestion, the addition of a setting to use GD's convert feature to change the quality and/or size of a jpeg, many of my users like to upload straight out of a camera. That's great if you are planning on printing the pictures on glossy paper to put in a picture frame but anything over a 3 on the jpeg quality scale is a waste of space when viewing it on a monitor.
One more suggestion, allow admins to see which pictures are set private/public. Maybe in the AdminCP. Also the ability to see all pictures without having to input an user's name also.

Very strange .........
Everything uploaded fine. However, when I try to upload an image the screen goes blank. No biggie, I'll just load the new "vbimagehost.php" file. So I do that and it's the same thing. But, when I hit the back button and then view "my images" it looks like it tried to upload. I see my picture info but the image is just a dead link (red X).
It doesn't seem posible that I missed anything...... there's not much to the install
Any suggestions????
Thanks :)

Is there a way to link this with subscriptions. LIke have registered users have to donation an ammount and then when they do that they get auto permissions to upload a certain ammount of images?
I wanted 2$ donation for registered users per 5 images to cover transfer costs which seems reasonable.

I do something like what you want to do, what I did is made usergroups.
Example:
Pictures25 (allowed 25 pictures)
Pictures50
Pictures100
Then made corresponding subscriptions that when subscribed to they are made members of those groups since this product's permissions (upload slots, max images) are set in usergroups.

no there is nothing wrong with the Database ..
but you can try to check if it's really becase of ecdownloads then you can disable the hack ..
though that it's not releated to ecDownloads but it's releated to GD library in PHP

Yes
just do the following
in postpit_legacy
Find
<div>
$vbphrase[posts]: $post[posts]
</div>
after it add
<br>
<div><a href="vbimghost.php?do=viewimages&id=$post[userid]">$vbphrase[vbimghost_menushimg] </a> </div>
and it should display what you want

i didn't get what you mean
if you want to show a user name guest for people who didn't register
modify the code in vbimghost.php to the follwoing :
in line 239-240
find
while($row = $db->fetch_Array($result)){
$vbimghost['username'] = $row['username'];
$vbimghost['imgcount'] = $row['imgcnt'];
$vbimghost['userid']=$row['userid'];
$vbimghost_usersbit.=eval('$vbimghost_usersbit .= "' . fetch_template('vbimghost_usersbit') . '";');
}
replace with
while($row = $db->fetch_Array($result)){
$vbimghost['userid']=$row['userid'];
if ($row['userid'] == 0 ){
$row['username']=construct_phrase($vbphrase['guest']);
}
$vbimghost['username'] = $row['username'];
$vbimghost['imgcount'] = $row['imgcnt'];
$vbimghost_usersbit.=eval('$vbimghost_usersbit .= "' . fetch_template('vbimghost_usersbit') . '";');
}

I still am using the 1.2 version. I'm waiting for my Forum to be moved to new server to do this upgrade. But I have a question.
Is there a way so when a member clicks on Imagehost that it opens in a new window.
And I'm confused about the info needed in config.php file. Is the forumpath the path to the forum files, from the root of the server?? or is the path start with the root of the forum??

yes there is a way you just ajust the templates for the target of the url to be _blank
as for the config.php the path should be from the root of the server ..

I tried doing it with target url.._blank
<td id="vbimghost" class="vbmenu_control"><a
href="#vbimghost" target="_blank">Image Hosting</a>
<script type="text/javascript">
vbmenu_register("vbimghost");</script></td>
and it still doesn't open in a new window.. this is on Navbar template. That's the only on that needs to be changed right??

do the following in navbar change ..
replace this

It seems there is a bug with this latest version, the "BB Code url" seems to be wrong.
I upgraded from 1.3.something and all the "BB Code url" links now look like this:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/05/1.png ('http://forums.randi.org/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=305')
Is that what they should look like?

admincp/vbimghost.php?do=members and admincp/vbimghost.php?do=thumbs don't seem to work. I have the server path set correctly in includes/config.php
EDIT: it seems ok in firefox, just not in ie
Also what does setting images as private do? Guests can still see them

Now that you mention it I have the same problem with the do=thumbs/members
And setting them as private/public hides/shows them on forums/vbimghost.php?do=userlist, but doesn't hide the actual image if you use the direct URL. Just the listing.

in vbimghost_imgbits
find
<tr>
<td class="alt1">$vbphrase[vbimghost_imgflink]</td>
<td class="alt2"><input type="text" value="'][img]$vbimghost[thumbpath] ('$vbimghost[dispath)"></td>
</tr>
replace it with
<tr>
<td class="alt1">$vbphrase[vbimghost_imgflink]</td>
<td class="alt2"><input type="text" value="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/"></td>
</tr>
or you can just add this
<tr>
<td class="alt1">$vbphrase[vbimghost_imgflink]</td>
<td class="alt2"><input type="text" value="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/"></td>
</tr>
under the first code
and it should work with you

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/05/1.png ('http://forums.randi.org/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=305')

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/05/2.jpg ('http://forums.randi.org/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=256')
And adds the link to the vbImage host - whereas previously the bbcode produced an [img] tag filled in with the actual picture so my members could post the actual image into their posts with a quick copy & paste. Now to do that they have to cut the image address out of the URL link and then add it into a [img] tag, makes it much less user friendly.
(Ignore the above - I hadn't read the rest of the thread and Ranma2k kindly answers my question in this post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=991533&postcount=349) - again thank Ranma2k.)

i changed the mod to show the thumps insted of the complete image and when you click on the thumb it will redirect you to the image page which will show the actual image and some inforamtion

well based on the request that i recived that the image should be displayed on a page related to the forums
i changed the mod to show the thumps insted of the complete image and when you click on the thumb it will redirect you to the image page which will show the actual image and some inforamtion
How ever i modified the hack and reupload it again (ver 1.3.1a ) you can download that and just import the xml
and will display the links as shown this the following attached

What Error does it give you when you access these !? No error, clicking on admincp/vbimghost.php?go=members/thumbs does nothing at all, no errors, nothing happens.
However it does work for the main admin (userid 1). The admin account it doesn't work on is userid 9 (user 9 has super admin permissions set in config.php too)
can you give me access to your forums so i can see where is the problem ?!I'm not the only admin on the forum in question so the decision to give access is out of my hands.

For the access
Go to the vbimghost.php in the admincp folder
and remove the following lines :
if(!is_member_of($vbulletin->userinfo,6)){
print_no_permission();
}
this will work with you all

Again sorry - this is probably me misunderstanding the "Enable Picture Resizing" I thought this only resized images bigger then the resize width & height parameters - not that it would resize all images to that size.

if you want to completely hide the image you'll need to edit the vbimghost.php file and add acondtion when you view the images
if you need it let me know and i'll tell you howI would like to be able to hide the image from everyone when set to private.
I'm not sure the best way though. Maybe when a user chooses to make the image private the hotlink becomes "noimage.gif" or something like that?

well if the user knows the true Link there is no way to hide it
if you set to private now one should be able to know the links unless you give the link to someone ..

in vbimghost_imgbits
find
<tr>
<td class="alt1">$vbphrase[vbimghost_imgflink]</td>
<td class="alt2"><input type="text" value="']https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/ ('$vbimghost[dispath)"></td>
</tr>
replace it with
<tr>
<td class="alt1">$vbphrase[vbimghost_imgflink]</td>
<td class="alt2"><input type="text" value="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/"></td>
</tr>
or you can just add this
<tr>
<td class="alt1">$vbphrase[vbimghost_imgflink]</td>
<td class="alt2"><input type="text" value="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/"></td>
</tr>
under the first code
and it should work with you
I had to do this to. Some members didn't like it because it affected the amount of characters in their Siginatures. I limit my members to 500 characters per Siginature and the BBcode the way it was really stretched that limit. So I too also had to go back to way it was.
I personally like the new way myself, I have a suggestion, how about adding another link box, with just the straight https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/. Like the orginal way was.
And You are doing really good. I really love the upgrade. Thank You.

I've noticed a couple of small bugs with the redirect after deleting images.
If a user deletes an image from the image page (rather than the list) the page will be redirected to the message "Wrong image id"
If the user deletes all their images from a single page (beyond the first page) they will get redirected to a blank page rather than the previous page.

I have tested this with 3.6.x beta 3, and it works just fine.
A couple suggestions/requests. It would be nice if there was an option to select multiple images at once and then change their permissions (private, public, delete).
It would also be awesome if there was a way to associate an image with a thread. For instance, if I posted the image to a thread and describe in that thread where I took the shot and what it was all about, then it would be great to be able to go back to the image host overview, and add the thread link to the image description somehow, preferably with thread title and thread link.
Great work, thanks for the mod and keep it up. :)

Watermark funkction ;)

06-25-2006, 08:19 PM
@Zweeper
There already is a watermark function in the current release.
@Ranma2k
Let's say you upload an image. Then you proceed to use that image in a thread you create. Now, when someone is browsing your gallery, all the see are the images and the data about file size and such, but they have no way to know whether you used that image on that message board at all.
What I would like is the ability to reference the image to the threads in which it was used. I realize that this couldn't be an automatic thing, but if the user would have a way to specify in which threads the image was used, so that gallery viewers can then go to that thread and read about the image, where it was taken, under which conditions, etc.
Things like Photopost Gallery, and vB Gallery have a feature where one can add comments under each image. I think that is a really bad idea as it creates a "discussion thread" that is disassociated from the actual forum. What I mean is that people engage in a discussion about the image in the gallery part of the message board (right underneath the image), but they do not discuss it in the forum part, say under "Nature Pictures".
What that does is it essentially splits the focus of the message board between threads on the forum, and threads underneath each image in the gallery part of the message board.
What I would like to do is to "unify" these two.
The only way this could work as far as I see it if there were one of two things.
#1 The gallery owner has some sort of option to add a link to the thread in which the image is being discussed to the image gallery.
or (and perhaps even better)
#2 Any newly uploaded picture has a button underneath it that says "Start a New Thread About This Image". If clicked, a new thread will be created in the appropriate forum that shows the image and allows for others to discuss the image. If such a thread has already been created, then the link underneath the image would read "click here to view the discussion about this image", or something like that.
Eh, that's a lot of writing, but I don't think I have explained it very well.
I will think of a better way to write it down and will try again later. ;)
Also, put up your Paypal link here, I would be happy to support further development with a modest financial contribution.

Well you'll be happy to know i'm actully working on a rating and comment system for the images :)
As for paypal ..
well there is not need i always give help / support for free so i hope you'll enjoy it ^_^

Here's a little trick I'm using
By opening the vbimghost_imgbits and vbimghost_displayimg templates and then adding &referrerid=$bbuserinfo[userid] to the end of the hypelink URL it will give people referral credit in event of new memberships being generated by the links.

Well you'll be happy to know i'm actully working on a rating and comment system for the images :)That's my point. A comment system is no good. The comment system creates a "thread" for the image within the gallery page. This means that those who are likely to discuss the image, will do so on the gallery page instead of the actual forum.

that is the point. list all users will be accessed by all the members and it will view the public images of the members.
Only admins will see all images but in the admincp not the list all users.
I'm saying that if anybody views the "List all users' images" list, it just says "No users found", even though at least some of the images are public.

Hi
Great mod, clicked install. Thank you very much.
Just one point from me. If there are other novices out there (like me) they may find a small problem. I cant seem to find anything about CHMOD the imagehosting directory in your install instructions. It might be an idea to add the details. Or I could be wrong, but when I tried the system out I got the obvious errors untill I done the CHMOD.
Thanks again.
Kind regards.

Thanks!

I hope you include it rather soon, as I am using lighttpd, and it's a software that makes your server load alot faster the only downfalls is that Apache doesn't work, which means no GD :)
Hope you get Image Magick to work, thanks!

Hi,
On the user side of things the mod is working great. It seems though that the problems for me start when in admin.
For example:
I get this error when I try to delete and image from the admin panel:
Warning: unlink(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/imagehosting/144a6366f2bf64.gif) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/*****/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /myadmin/vbimghost.php on line 311
And also when I rebuild thumbnails all I get is:
Thumbnail Not created for blah.gif
Any ideas?
Kind regards.

well this happens if you didn't set the forum path in the config.php file , did you se it ?
as for the Thumbnail not created
there is severals reasons one of it is the the image is smaller than the thumbnail so it won't creae one for it .

Check Phpinfo from your vb admincp area
go to mantinance -> phpinfo
you should find
gd
GD Support enabled
GD Version bundled (2.0.28 compatible) <--- this could be diffrent for server to server
GIF Read Support enabled
GIF Create Support enabled
JPG Support enabled
PNG Support enabled
WBMP Support enabled
XBM Support enabled
that means that GD is installed on your server
if not ask the host to install it for you

I am not a developer by any stretch of the definition of the word, but I have been doing some playing around and I can generate the block and the link is almost right.
I am stuck with getting an imgid at the end of the string:
<td class="alt2" colspan="1" align="center"><a href="$vboptions[bburl]/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=$latest[imgid]"><img src="$vboptions[bburl]/vbimghost.php?do=thumb&width=100&imgid=$latest[imgid]" border="0" alt="" /></a></td>
This will give me the x's where the pictures should be, and it will provide this link:
http://www.usjeeps.com/upload/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=
If I could just get a number at the end of that URL that was from the last or even a random image number, I would be set.

Look at www.usjeeps.com and you will see what I am talking about.

mix_boy, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

See: http://www.digicamhelp.com/what-is-exif/
Would be nice to include a link (AJAX?) that will expand the page and show EXIF data in the gallery. That data wouldn't be shown by default, but there would be a More Info link or something that then shows the EXIF data.
