But I don't see a reason to stand back and call it "totally useless". If it's totally useless to you,
We are talking about a Hack that Rewrites URL?s.
In fact this Hack damages and does not optimize Search Engine Crawlability.
Free or Commercial - Users have to be warned about using this and get lost their Search Engine Placements that they have before they use this Hack.
In Fact - Free/GPL/OpenSource does not mean unprofessional. All i think is that there has to be a clear warning at the Top of this Hack.
It is useless and dangerous at productive Projects at this Time.

you still haven't told me what the excat problem is...nor does it seem like you've even tried 1.5.
Nice joke !
I told you the Problem and a lot of others have it to. At 1.0 and 1.5.
Every Thread opened results in a non existing Thread-ID if it is not choosen from his Forum.
vRewrite is incompatible with TopXStats and vBAdvanced-Last-Postings and a lot of more Placements.
You know this Bug and told us more than one Time that this Bug would be fixed at 1.5 but it is not.
And if you read the other Bugs you see that this is not the only reason why no one should install this at a productive Project.
1.5 - nice i told you this Bug immediatley after the Release and you see it and sayed you want fix it in the next Days. No you say i did not test it ??

If you don't like the hack, then don't use it, simple as that. And honestly I do not care. We do not make any money doing this, and we are just trying to help other vB owners by improving their community. If you don't think it's of any value to you, then just shut your mouth up, and don't use the freaking hack.

Geez mate... Half the people come on here, say what they 'think' could improve it, and hope it gets added. They don't expect to get abused by the author. Secondly, the WOL issue is a big one for me, as I run a club and it would look unprofessional, and I can see that others have also requested this... There were reports of key features not working, so I was following that, and I reported that member profiles were loading with the rewrite feature enabled... Don't you care if your 'hack' doesn't work 100%
Maybe you should edit the initial post to read "Hack is provided AS IS, I will not be updating it, so if you don't like it... DON'T use it..." at least then people won't be expecting your support when you obviously won't give it

I had to write an extra rule to fix the search result (when you click on a post link instead of the threads link), for now this rule only makes sure you don't get an error and get routed to the right thread, it seems that the #post is not working, don't know enough of this to assess the problem, anyone any idea?

I never said I had anything problems with bugs or constructive feedback, but things like this:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=969904#post969904
I just won't take. We've put hours and hours into vRewrite. If you have a bug, or real feedback then we appreciate if you tell us so we can make it even better. But trashing the hack, when we do this for free is useless and something I will not take (...again).
After that last post, LOL... hope you aren't relying on those donations
No, no one is donating, even before I got sick of providing support for this hack. I've got no problems when people have real feedback, or a real issue. It's just that people who cannot search the thread, is a problem to me. And no, no one donated before I got fed up with it either. It'd be nice, but I can careless as I know it won't happen.
Just immortals attitude really struck a nerve
And that's the message I get across to a lot of people who waste my time, when all I am doing is trying to help others. I could be helping someone with a real issue, but instead, I have to tell someone to search the thread because it was mentioned fifteen times already.
I had to write an extra rule to fix the search result (when you click on a post link instead of the threads link), for now this rule only makes sure you don't get an error and get routed to the right thread, it seems that the #post is not working, don't know enough of this to assess the problem, anyone any idea?
Hm...Is everything else working besides the #post? AFAIK, the anchor (#), is not parsed server-side, so it can't be added.....but this isn't the first time I've seen something like this.

For those still irritated with teh WOL bug -- its nearly fixed...Furthermore, I've added a new feature that will allow you to disable rewriting on certain pages.
Example, you can stop writing online.php if there is still an issue with the next release, or you can stop any other php page from being rewritten.

Okey Friend,
I make somethink, but i think not ok for rewrite. For my is not important, i make nofollow and Google not follow link.
Maybe you have one solution same, but i want post also.
I delete problem by template....
Search Template
Search_result_postbit
Find
<a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]p=$post[postid]$post[highlight]#post$post[postid]">$post[posttitle]</a><br />
and Replace With
<a href="showthread.php?s=&postid=$post[postid]#post$post[postid]" >$post[posttitle]</a><br />
-----------------
IF you want rewrite you can use
<a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]p=$post[postid]/#post$post[postid]">$post[posttitle]</a><br />
Not very rewrite...but...same....
For nofollow add rel="nofollow", naturally....
Thanks for all ;)

When i have this vRewrite turned ON, my quick reply and quick edit dosent works, when i turn it off, they start working. I first thought it might be an AJAX problem, but i just found that its the problem of vRewrite ..
There is also another problem, my members getting logged out. I now feel that is also being caused due to vRewrite? Currently i've turned vRewrite off.

Hi all,
I?ve just installed this and found an error. When I make a search using the "search this thread" feature, the link that links to the individual post it badformed.
The link to the complete thread is fine:
../t-cual-es-la-mejor-de-estas-salas-1256.html/?highlight=poker
But this is the link that links to the post:
../t-cual-es-la-mejor-de-estas-salas-1256-post12032.html/?poker#post12032
I think the problem is in the underlined part. Removing it the link works fine. Any idea?
Thanks in advance, Simon.

Note: If you run your vB on a directory from a subdomain or root ex: http:///www.yoursite.com/forum or http://subdomain.site.com/forum you will need to open up the .htacess file and change Rewrite Base / to Rewrite Base /yourdir
I can't find Rewrite Base / in my .htaccess file.
I believe this is nessasary to change since my forum is in a subdirectory. What am I missing? Where can I find Rewrite Base? Also, is the .htaccess susposed to be in the forum directory or the / directory?

I'm not getting a 404 or anything like that, but since I was previously having problems with danny's comment system not leaving comments with vrewrite installed, and also the latest x threads wasn't working.
I looked in the hacksNfixes.txt file but I don't quite understand. Is there or isn't there some sort of fix for the comment system? Do I have to manually do something? I see it says XML file, so is the change included in the new vrewrite .xml file? How about for the latest x threads, I see some steps to search for but I don't know where to be searching. I searched templates, I guess in some file. Thanks for any more info. :) I'll let you know if I find any more bugs, hopefully not. Eventually not!! :)

Downloaded it just now, tried to check to see if it fixed the problem about order threads by thread starter and what not, still seems to fail.
Example:

Try to arrange threads by Thread Starter or Rating, it gives 404

I think girish.r's problem is with another hack that's in place (notice the total numbers online today says 0 even though you registered?) Perhaps the rewrite main script is doing something which removed the counter thing for the other hack (I don't see total number of users online on my forums nor do I see it as an option).
Btw, thanks for the fix for the htaccess, it works great.

any idea why this hack not works for me?
i follow:
1) Import product-vrewrite.xml as a product using the plugin system.
2) Upload the .htaccess file to your vB's directory.
3) In forumdisplay, showthread, standard_error find:
$headinclude
Add before that:
<base href="$vboptions[bburl]/" />
but no enjoy at the end :)
maybe need to be activated somehow???
but for example i used before vBSEO and it works only loads are HUGE!

BR,

Firstly, from my experience, when you first initialize this script, there is an impact on the site whilst the old URL's are being rewritten to the new ones.
If your rewriting every single URL on your site (showpost, printthread, showthread, member.php, etc.), then there certainly will be a load increase.
Since bots don't have access to online.php on your site, there is no need to rewrite the URL's located there (add online.php to the exclude script).
If you want the load to minimal, you could disable some or all 301 redirects.
You shoudln't just enable a script and hope for the best. You must play around with the settings until you are sure you are happy.
I'll leave this post on one note -- i've verified all SQL queries ON A LARGE forum to make sure they are 100% optimized.

Hi all,
I?ve just installed this and found an error. When I make a search using the "search this thread" feature, the link that links to the individual post it badformed.
The link to the complete thread is fine:
../t-cual-es-la-mejor-de-estas-salas-1256.html/?highlight=poker
But this is the link that links to the post:
../t-cual-es-la-mejor-de-estas-salas-1256-post12032.html/?poker#post12032
I think the problem is in the underlined part. Removing it the link works fine. Any idea?
Thanks in advance, Simon.

What is the best way to make it /forum/forum-name , instead of /forums/f-forum-name-forum#Right now vRewrite doesnt support this.
It supports only
/f-forum-name-id/t-thread-name-id
OR
/forum-name/t-thread-name-id
In the future, I hope to add support for /forum-name
But be aware, this isnt the easiest task (espeically if you have non-english chars)

The latest version (1.5.1) has some what messed up things for me. The things that don't work for me are
1. The quick reply and edit post are not working post’s view (in opera)
2. The WOL problem still exits.
3. In the 'Total members that have visited the forum today' some member links are not working.
4. The Email and Private Message link in member profile pages are not working. (Its due to the trailing / )
5. The images in the member profile pages are broken. (Its due to the trailing / )
6. The pagination for thread view was not working but bhuvan help me solve if by removing the trailing slash.
These are the bugs that were noticed using opera browser (did not try in any other browser). You can check out these bugs at www.abcphp.com. I will keep updating this list as I find new bugs.
Bhuvan/Immortal, don't you think the discussion about vRewrite is getting really big. Why don't you move this discussion to a personal site?

A minor bug :P
I've few links in navbar, for example:
http://forum.mandriva.org.pl/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=42
http://forum.mandriva.org.pl/search-getdaily.html/&days=2&exclude=42
and they are rewrited to
http://forum.mandriva.org.pl/search-getnew.html/&exclude=42
http://forum.mandriva.org.pl/search-getdaily.html/&days=2&exclude=42
what cause 404 error of course.
how to fix it ?
if I add index.php (for example) to excluded pages navbar looks all right but only on index.php. On search.php there will be error again. An so on. So pages excluding is not a way beacause in the end I'll disable vRewrite on every page.....

I've disabled the product again because it was having some real big templating problem with the post thank you hack (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=92410) (ajax thing gets broken completely and loops the template over and over); but before I disabled, I noticed that the WOL still have some unknown locations which I mentioned above. I'll put this one on hold (keeping the installed status so I get emails) until the next version again...

That WOLissue shud be resolved -- if no tjust dsiable rewriting of online.php -- that's the easiest way.

hi,
load average: 2.45, 1.92, 1.65
and with SEO load is over 40 !!!
How are you even getting the server to respond with a load that high?
As Bhuwan has previously mentioned - disable some things that aren't really needed. I shut off printthread, searches, and member rewriting as honestly, does any of that really help your content when indexing in a search engine? You're after pertinent pages being listed that will draw people that may stick around - search engines cannot use the search function, I have member.php disallowed in my robots.txt, and printthread is also disallowed.
Get the meat and potatoes listed, skip the tripe - should help you in the long run - once you have that covered add in the fluff if you really want it.
I just grabbed my server load here, and this is what I'm showing:
Server Load Averages 0.69 0.51 0.52 | 144 Users Online

I already posted about that one. I'm waiting for a fix as well. The problem seems to be because the AJAX post thank yo hack's AJAX are looking for
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_button_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_add_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_button_add_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_remove_all_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_remove_user_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_add&p=xxx
where 'xxx' = post id.
I think it'd be nice and easy to fix if we figure out how Bwhuan does his showthread rewrite, and add a few more 'replacements' for the hack's plugin, and it should work out, but I don't know... For now, I've got my vRewrite disabled until I can get more confirmation as to how to make sure it doesn't break the post thank you hack.

If they allow it, we can have a sub-forum within the prem mods section and within our sub-forum we can have another sub-forum for "known" bugs - this will make it easier for me to keep track

I was looking for a Update or new modifications.
The (Bookmark (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=91324&page=47)) Main Thread for this Plug In ist not visible (deleted ?) ..
and i found nothing with the search function....
Is vRrewrite the successor from dc seo - or ist it a complete new Modification ?
Can i use vRewrite instead of DC Seo ( same Rewrite rules ?) or will i lost all my indexed Urls in Searchhengines ?

Hi I just installed the mod and I must say that Tyler has done a great job. It works perfectly except for one thing, and that one thing is probably my mistake somewhere. My forum images when viewing anything but the main page are broken. The path appears as a relative path and nothing shows. How do I fix that?

nice, this mod has its own section :) very cool, been doing well then I guess Tyler ?
are you able to make any URL's submitted by a site map the same URL's that the rewrite will do ? :)

There's a few bugs, and support has been given. Bug reports have not been answered as we are fixing them, and if we need more information we will reply. Otherwise note it as fixed in the next version. We rather be fixing bugs rather than replying to existing ones. If you don't like the hack, then that's good for you for uninstalling it, but I do not care, and I doubt others do as well.

I have uninstalled it, lots of bugs. One stupid one though:
Why do u make the showthread to be a folder/filename.html rewrite?
It should be just a filename.html because when you want to go back to the index.php, it'll go to an invalid page because it's in a folder which doesn't even exist, you know what I mean?
That's the only main issue right now, fix it please.

I also have the problem with the quick reply. impossible to post a message with the quickreply, nothing happens. Same with edit button: clicking on it make nothing happen (then, no editor)
Edit: I change the option "Path Settings" to Full path, and now, quick reply and edit are working. If it can help to find the problem :)

In the online.php page I get the following error instead of the Threadname:
"Unknown Location"
"musica/t-need-concert-dates-in-greece-433.html"
Why is this?
EDIT: Is there a way to remove this dreadful footer?:
"vRewrite 1.5 beta SEOed URLs completed by Tech Help Forum and Chalo Na."
PS. Sorry if I ask a question many have asked before, but I didn't find anything while searching.

With this enabled, what happens when a user clicks a search engine link that has the old links in their database? Does it automatically forward the user to the rewritten link?
I was able to reproduce all of that for 1.0 expect for that it needs IDs still. Removing the IDs will have to be a good majority of the code rewrite which will happen in 1.5. But, for the threads it's going to have %20s in the spaces, is that what you really want?
i wouldnt mind this is it availible... sorry im new to this hack :D

All support should be handled in the forum :)
jdingman: I would love to do that. But, I think a locked thread to some may seem like a dead project. Plus posting upgrades would be rather difficult.

I already posted about that one. I'm waiting for a fix as well. The problem seems to be because the AJAX post thank yo hack's AJAX are looking for
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_button_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_add_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_button_add_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_remove_all_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_remove_user_ajax&p=xxx
showthread.php?do=post_thanks_add&p=xxx
where 'xxx' = post id.
I think it'd be nice and easy to fix if we figure out how Bwhuan does his showthread rewrite, and add a few more 'replacements' for the hack's plugin, and it should work out, but I don't know... For now, I've got my vRewrite disabled until I can get more confirmation as to how to make sure it doesn't break the post thank you hack. I'd also appreciate a solution for the "Post thank you hack." In the meantime, I've disabled the product. All other things seem to work fine and I have dozens of hacks installed.... I'm sure it's not on your priority list to make your product compatible with every other hack, but if you should ever have some free time to work on a solution, I'm sure it would be much appreciated by quite a few admins, Bhuwan.
Keep up the good work. :)

Hello Everyone,
We have opened up vRewrite.com (http://www.vrewrite.com). I know, I know. Why, yet another one? It's confusing enough as-is! The vRewrite thread is over 100 pages long, it's a mess. We realize that. But when members post same questions over and over, it's very frustrating. Let me reiterate that: it's very frustrating. So if I have ever snapped at you, that's why. We contacted vB.org staff to create the vRewrite forum to try and rectify this issue. It failed. At least in my eye's. It did not solve the issues that we still face. We needed multiple forums, and not just one. Sub-forums would just create even more of a mess.
Thanks to jlaine, who very kindly donated a vB license to use, we have opened up vRewrite.com. We hope over time you will begin to use this, but we understand why you may not. Getting this forum alone has created confusion, and now we have added this into the mix. We will still provide support via the forum, but the people on vRewrite.com will get priority support as they are very kind to us developers and wish to help ease the mess on us. But let me reiterate that once more, we will still provide support via the forum. Thread as it is now, is still not a support place. Just general discussions etc.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of us.
Thanks,
vRewrite Team

Howdy,
Right now it's just for 3.5. I haven't had time to play with 3.6 personally myself yet. And let alone test vRewrite for it. Sounds like an variate of an existing bug however.
