ARGHHHHHHHHHH totally confused.

I see a number of discussions on it but no idea which templates to edit for some of the changes. Then theres reworked solutions etc and the catagories one totally confused me.

I have the main arcade rewrite working perfectly but after that it gets to be a grey area.

I'll keep trying but so far no luck :(

You can use the feature "Search in templates". Anything that begins with RewriteRule goes into your .htaccess file. Does that help any?

look at this post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=939479&postcount=758) it has alot of the tweaks... then there is a few more in the pages following that page... i think maybe the next 3 or 4 pages after that... but that is all of what you need.... also read on that post the original post (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=890580&postcount=368)

i think they may want the problems reported in the bug tracker this way they can tell what is going on... but i think a few things to let them know is if you have vbadvanced installed or how you have things setup... its hard to tell what is going on with out seeing the problem...

thats what i did but although your original arcade worked perfectly, i couldn;t quite get to gripes with the discussion proceeding that :( It was all over the place.

Take categories for instance.

One part was covered and the other part wasn;t.

So it was :-

<a style="text-decoration:none" href="arcade.php?categoryid=$id">

becomes

<a style="text-decoration:none" href="arcade-categoryid=$id.html">

and then you say

<a href="arcade.php?barsize=1<if condition="$categoryid">

I am not actually too sure on that one, hmm, sorry.

I tried that and my catgories buttons shrink to nothing and are then inaccessible for instance.

its just too fragmented ...

The original v3arcade you did worked perfectly but after that the discussion went over my head ... :(

dizzy100 you have to read what was posted i originally had a alt layout installed... since then i switched back to the stock so the code above you posted will work on stock v3arcade you just need the rewrite rule in htaccess...

Asking over and over is not going to solve your problem. Nor am I going to do it if you can't take the time to a) search the thread b) download the beta version by searching the thread. I'm not your own personal tech support if you can't take 2 seconds for something I do for free, and get $0 and which you are getting at no cost.

i found the beta link at https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=935077&highlight=beta#post935077

now the problem is i have currently installed 1.0 so do i uninstall the 1.0 before i use the beta 1.5 ?

I just have a small tendency to not be happy when people ask redundant questions, when searching the thread will solve most (if not all) issues :)

You'll want to check "Overwrite existing" when importing the product, and overwrite the .htaccess. Hope that helps :)

I have it as http://www.vtxcafe.com/search.php?do=getnew but when I click the link it shows as a dead link http://www.vtxcafe.com/search-getnew.html/

That's the only thing I have found so far.

vRewrite 1.5 stable has been released. To upgrade from either 1.0 or 1.5 RC# simply reimport the plugin and check "Overwrite" and reupload your .htaccess file. Please continue to keep all bugs and feature requests at the bug tracker.

Support for 1.0 will no longer be offered, and you will simply be told to upgrade to the stable 1.5.

I'll give it a try perhaps. I definitely want to be using the product, but since both of my sites use the comment system and the comment system doesn't work I can't really use this until that issue is fixed, or another comment system is introduced.

Also I was previously having issues with the links on the xstats not working either in some cases. I disabled for both of my sites but would love to try again in the future. :)

Also getting 'Not Found' errors.

Just installed the new 1.5 release on a clean build of vB 3.53. I don't have any hacks installed I can imagine conflicting.

The product is enabled through the admincp.

mod_rewrite is working on other vhosts on the same box.

I've got the forumroot under a directory called 'f'.

I made the edits to the three templates mentioned in the install.html.

I've tried using both the default .htaccess rewrite rules and the ones generated by the auto-generator in the other thread.

If I navigate to /f/, I see the forum display as I expect.

If I click on a link to a subforum, I get:

Not Found

The requested URL /f/f-boston-beer-party-15.html was not found on this server.

If I click on a link to the latest updated thread in the 'Last Post' column, I get:

Not Found

The requested URL /showthread.php was not found on this server.

I've tried adding 'RewriteBase /f' to the .htacces as specified in the install.html, but with that option, I get:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

and the apache2 error log shows:

mod_rewrite: maximum number of internal redirects reached. Assuming configuration error. Use 'RewriteOptions MaxRedirects' to increase the limit if neccessary.

(Incidentally, the install.html lists that option with a space, as 'Rewrite Base', which causes Apache to report an error. Probably want to fix that...)

Now, if I manually prepend the /f/ directory onto the rules, like so:

RewriteRule ^(.*)/(showthread\.php)$ f/showthread.php?&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

then clicking on the link on forumdisplay's 'Last Post' column does work as desired, but only for that one rule. Everything else I can think to try still breaks.

Let me know if I've left any info out.

@vasudeva - Does your .htaccess file include RewriteBase /f (if it wasn't generated automatically)?

Got the official 1.5 working nicely on my test forum, also been trying to play about with the file name output...things like threadname-tid instead of t-threadname-id...again it's working fine on my test board, although i get db errors when trying to actvate it on my main board.

But as far as the default mod goes, working just as it should - thanks for producing it. :)

Yes, as posted:

[...]

I've tried adding 'RewriteBase /f' to the .htacces as specified in the install.html, but with that option, I get:

It didn't work and in fact produced some sort of looping situation. It was not auto-generated by the helper script.

Sorry, didn't see that part of the post 1st time round. Have you tried adding $myurl to the front of the re-written paths instead of /f/ ?

EDIT: btw, i think the product file contains two showthread.php?f=xyz&page= url replacements. Once i changed the top one to showthread.php?t=xyz&page= i could access all thread pages, whereas before i got invalid link errors.

How will a post like this "http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulletin/north-eastern-general-discussion-forum/t-fishing-regulation-question-4368.html"

get spidered?

If I do a google search for, "North Eastern...etc..." Will it come up, or do people have to search for, "north-eastern-...etc..."?

Why the dashes? Also, do I really need the prefix's before each link. Can I remove the dashes? Would it make sense?

Submitting to google like this... SHould I submit, www.mysite.com or www.mysite.com/vBulletin

Thanks!

I got that too, when a user click on "New Post" after they logged in, they get that error message, I found that if you remove the "/" at the end, it will work, but I don't expect my user to know how to to that. I've checked the .htaccess file, notice that rule does not have "/" when the string terminate. I guess is in the interal works of the plugin which I am not sure where to look....anyone?

Hi this is a great hack!
i instaled and it's running well.

Just a frew problems (i don't know if they have been posted before, i have searched and haven't found an answer):

1)

In members pages, for example http://www.webmastershelp.com/u-coolguy-244.html

The link to the last post the user has done doesn't work, vbulletin returns the following error
No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

2
When viewing a forum, under the thread titles there is a link to the thread author profile which opens in a new window. that link is like
/u-username-214.html/
instead of
/u-username-214.html
i don't know why but it still loads the page, but with path errors for images and styles.

3

in the /online.php page, when someone is viewing a forum or thread the link to that forum or thread is incorrect, the forum or thread name are missed.
for example
t--334.html

Any help with those issues will be really appreciated.
Thanks for such a great hack.
the best, it's free and unencrypted :D

Same Error like the 1.0 Version.

Every click on a Thread moves to a unkwon and non existing Thread.

Same from vbAdvanced, TopX and from Forumhome.

Deactivated again now. :(

Please be sure that the base vBulletin sites are rewritten and working...(i.e. showthread, member, forumdisplay .php).

Once you are sure thi sis okay, PLEASE PM me the hacks that are NOT working -- I will begin adding support for these hacks.

Normally we shouldn't have to add support for these hacks. Since we're tring to prevent excessive queries, we're required to cache the data, hence the reason many hacks wmay not work properly with this.

I am certainly willing to add support for these hacks, but will will need members to help us out and post which hacks they use that arent working...

#------------------------------
# Replace showthread.php?t=XYZ&page=
#------------------------------

$found = preg_match_all('#<a href="showthread\.php\?t=([0-9]+)&amp;page=([0-9]+)"#i', $output, $matches);

if($found) {
$ids = array();
$test = array();
for($i = 0; $i < $found; $i++) {
if(is_numeric($matches[1][$i])) {
$ids[] = $matches[1][$i];

$tid =$matches[1][$i];
$test["$tid"]["page$i"] = $matches[2][$i];
}
}
for ($i = 0; $i < (count($ids)); $i++) {
$fname = urlize($GLOBALS[foruminfo][title]);
$title = urlize($GLOBALS[vRewrite_thread]["$ids[$i]"][title]);
$tid = $ids[$i];
$page = $test["$ids[$i]"]["page$i"];
$parentid = $GLOBALS[foruminfo][forumid];
if (empty($fname)) {
$parentid = $GLOBALS[vRewrite_thread]["$ids[$i]"][ownerid];
$fname = urlize($GLOBALS[vRewrite_forum][$parentid][title]);

}

$new = (($vbulletin->options['vRewrite_showthread'] == 1) ? $fname : 'f-' . $fname . '-' . $parentid);
if($vbulletin->options['vRewrite_page'] == "1") {
$output = str_replace("<a href=\"showthread.php?t={$tid}&amp;=$page\"", "<a href=\"$new/$title-page$page-t$tid{$vbulletin->options['vRewrite_extension_showthread']}\"", $output);
} else {
$output = str_replace("<a href=\"showthread.php?t={$tid}&amp;page=$page\"", "<a href=\"$new/$title-t$tid/page$page{$vbulletin->options['vRewrite_extension_showthread']}\"", $output);
}
}
}

Bhuwan
04-18-2006, 05:56 PM
Ok, I've installed and it appears to be working fine now. I'll test more in tomorrow. Just one question...

How will a post like this "http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulletin/north-eastern-general-discussion-forum/t-fishing-regulation-question-4368.html"

get spidered?

If I do a google search for, "North Eastern...etc..." Will it come up, or do people have to search for, "north-eastern-...etc..."?

I am not an expert in SEO, so I will not answer this question :).
* Bhuwan hopes a SEO expert hijacks this psot :D lol

Why the dashes? Also, do I really need the prefix's before each link. Can I remove the dashes? Would it make sense?

You could replace the ddashes with anything you want, but my understanding is that it makes most sense.
If you removed the Dashes then you'd have something like this

thread-name-goes-here would actually be:
threadnamegoeshere
very difficult to read

If you replace it with spaces, you would be shown as
thread%20name%20goes etc...

So as you can see, - was the best option :)

Submitting to google like this... SHould I submit, www.mysite.com (http://www.mysite.com) or www.mysite.com/vBulletin (http://www.mysite.com/vBulletin)

Thanks!

Thanks!

Again, I am no SEO Expert, so I will leave this question.

ADding support for member that hack is on the way, but if you really want to use this product, why not disable member.php rewriting? :)

I did find a workaround for the user reputation issue- if you click on the number of the post to display the post in it's own window, then you can give user reputation, and it works.

Other problems discovered - you must be logged in to reproduce it. vBradio plugin only works from the main forum home. The link does not work from any other page- ie, diplaying a post or thread. Also, if you attempt to click on names within the "user who have visited the forum today" window, most of the pages will not display the users profile.

1) Import product-vrewrite.xml as a product using the plugin system.

Done.

2) Upload the .htaccess file to your vB's directory.

My forum is: http://www.lab-retriever.net/board/
Do I need to edit anything in this htaccess file??

3) In forumdisplay, showthread, standard_error find:
$headinclude
Add before that:
<base href="$vboptions[bburl]/" />

What is the [bburl]? When I do this I get an error:

<base href="$vboptions[http://www.lab-retriever.net/board/]/" />

Please?

Possibly, but you really won't see any visible changes if you did it the correct way. If you did it the wrong way, when you go to FORUMDISPLAY all of your images/paths will be wrong.

I'm also having issues now with users having a _ in their username. I wasn't having this problem before in 1.0.x, but now in 1.5 I am having this problem. I ran the htaccess generator too and it's still having the issue.

Edit: whoops, missed what pranism said and just read it. I'm having the same issue.

Edit2: I'm having some issues on my 'members' pages where the 'base' URL isn't showing up above the meta tags and the image paths aren't working or any of the links in the member profiles. Any idea how I would fix this? (it's an internal board for our business so I can't let you preview it (it's a 10.x.x.x address anyway)). thanks!!

Just curious, what's the point of the SEO then?

We have internal spiders on the network that need to pickup these pages and it's also for testing our application platforms. We still have a big need for SEO ;)

Edit: That MEMBERINFO insert fixed it, thanks :)

Also, when will the sitemap generator for the vRewrite'n pages be available? I'm using an alternate one and the pages redirect fine, but it would be nice to be able to provide SES with regular filename paths. And what's the status about rewriting the RSS feeds?

Will you be adding rewritten rules for the memberlist.php page? Such as memberlist.php/letter/{LETTER} or something of that sort or variance. Rewritting the letter pages and sort pages possibly. This would help if someone doesn't have a sitemap too so search engines can find all the pages. Just wondering if you had plans for that or not. I'm looking forward to the next update :)

MEMBER BUGS Just let you know that there is a bug for member username rewrite.

eg; http://www.xxxx.com/members/username-111.html - the custom header doesn't show with red cross image because of wrong path by 'members/user...'

But, http://www.xxxx.com/u-username-111.html - the custom header does show.

That setting is from Member Rewrite rewritten in admincp.

----------

ONLINE.PHP BUGS:

In the online.php page, doesn't have online seo rewritten "http://www.xxxxx.com/online.php?order=asc&sort=username&pp=20&page=1"

"Unknown Location" /forumname/t-threadnamehere-105.html. Will you fix it?

great hack! :), though i have a prob when you have multiple pages to a thread and your in the forum view and you got your thread title here like this for example

THREAD TITLE (1 2 3 ... Last Page)
clicking on those other page number links just brings up:

"No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

I am using the latest version of this hack (1.5) and vBulletin 3.5.4

Hello,

Nice Modification. i have just installed it on my testboard.

In order to make it really usefull you have to check if the thread/forum/member/etc. name/title in the url is correct. If its not you must do a 301 redirection to the correct path. If you don't so, you have a problem with "double content", because

name1-[ID].html
name2-[ID].html
somename-[ID].html

will all show the same content, tough just (let's say) name1-[ID].html is correct.

was that understandable?

Seems there is a problem with this mod.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=82769

when displaying the member URLs, it only displays them as /members/-###.html and it doesn't display it like /members/username-###.html -- and because of this, it throws a 404 error due to the .htaccess not accepting it.

Any idea if this is a problem on your side or if it's a problem with the mod?

Great hack, but is there a fix for it saying unknown loaction on whos online and the 404 error problem with usernames that have an underscore in it?

That's because they haven't released an update yet. Read up a couple posts and you will see they are busy right now, but they will try to get back to the problem as soon as possible. Just give 'em a little time ;)

Question - is it possible to add in an additional plugin (or just add into the code somewhere) a type of exclusion list?

Say i have a custom page i want to load, and in the php file i've defined the script using define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'myscript'); is there some way of disabling the vrewrite protocols from engaging with that script entirely, whilst leaving the others "as is"? I don't mind if the custom page urls aren't re-written, i just want to exclude any that conflict with vrewrite.

EDIT: found an answer. Went to the "main script" plugin and replaced:

if($vbulletin->options['vRewrite_on'])

With:

if(THIS_SCRIPT !== 'myscript' AND $vbulletin->options['vRewrite_on'])

I fixed the problem with members who have a _ in their name. Just some minor correction to the .htaccess file. See below.....

.htaccess file before.....
RewriteRule ^u-(.*)-(.*).html member.php?u=$2&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

or

RewriteRule ^u-([A-Za-z0-9\-]+)-([0-9]+).html member.php?u=$2&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

.htaccess file after the correction for _ ....
RewriteRule ^u-([A-Za-z0-9\_\-]+)-([0-9]+).html member.php?u=$2&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

you can see it working at www.abcphp.com

girish.r
05-02-2006, 06:46 AM
The '_' problem holds true for the post too. If any post has a '_' in its title it will result in a 404 error. Adding a '\_' to relevant line in the .htaccess file will provide a fix for this. Also the 404 error results if the post title start with a non-alphanumeric character.

I hope the creators of this mod will fix these bugs ASAP.

Ok Im trying to get this working on IIS 6.0
This is what I have done:

Installed Lite version of isapi_rewrite
Checked if the ISAPI plugin got loaded into IIS main level and it was loaded
Configured the httpd.ini with the data written below
Restarted IIS
Installed the product into vbulletin
Did the template edits

And now nothing is happening... everything looks all the same..no different urls. Could anyone be of assistance (Thanks!!) :)

My httpd.ini for isapi_rewrite (^ changed to / (read that in this thread)):
[ISAPI_Rewrite]

RewriteEngine On

Makes me think you aren't using the most recent version released... I'd suggest you get the newest one for the bugs that have been fixed.

I guess with Bhuwan out for the count, I'm probably going to disable this until he gets better - there are a few things that need to get fixed that happen to cause functional issues on the forums itself. Hope things are going ok Bhuwan!

R=301 on the old URL's as google crawls is what the current process is - although they have a sitemap generator ready and waiting, I guess the current problem is them waiting for vbseo to actually respond with an ok to release the modification.

clicking on those other page number links just brings up:

Seems there is a problem with this mod.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=82769

when displaying the member URLs, it only displays them as /members/-###.html and it doesn't display it like /members/username-###.html -- and because of this, it throws a 404 error due to the .htaccess not accepting it.

Any idea if this is a problem on your side or if it's a problem with the mod?I will add a fix for this.

Edit: sorry, I didn't see you said you'd look into that a few days ago. Another problem I noticed

I have my forums currently rewrite to f--*.html, without the trailing /. On my forum display page, the sort by stuff (IE:sort by thread starter, rating etc.) doesn't work (gives a 404 because it tries to go .html/?parameters). Ok to get it working on isapi_rewrite, edit httpd.conf and add this:

RewriteRule ^/(.*)/(styleid=(.*))$ /showthread.php?&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)/(showthread\.php)$ /showthread.php?&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*)-new.html /showthread.php?t=$3&goto=newpost&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

RewriteRule ^/(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*)-nextnewest.html /showthread.php?t=$3&goto=nextnewest&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*)-nextoldest.html /showthread.php?t=$3&goto=nextoldest&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

RewriteRule ^/(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*)/page(.*).html /showthread.php?t=$3&page=$4&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*).html/(.*)$ /showthread.php?t=$3&%{QUERY_STRING}&is_vrewrite=yes [L]
RewriteRule ^/(.*)/t-(.*)-(.*).html /showthread.php?t=$3&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/f-(.*)-(.*)/misc\.php$ /misc.php?&%{QUERY_STRING}&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/members/(.*)-(.*).html /member.php?u=$2&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/u-([A-Za-z0-9\_\-]+)-([0-9]+).html /member.php?u=$2&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/u-(.*)-(.*).html(.*) /member.php?u=$2&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING}$3 [L]
RewriteRule ^/u-(.*)-(.*).html /member.php?u=$2&is_vrewrite=yes&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^/f-(.*)-(.*)/page(.*).html/(.*)$ /forumdisplay.php?f=$2&&page=$3%{QUERY_STRING}&is_vrewrite=yes [L]
RewriteRule ^/f-(.*)-(.*)/(.*)$ /forumdisplay.php?f=$2&&%{QUERY_STRING}&is_vrewrite=yes [L]
RewriteRule ^/f-(.*)-(.*)/$ /forumdisplay.php?f=$2&%{QUERY_STRING}&is_vrewrite=yes [L]
RewriteRule ^/search-(.*).html$ /search.php?do=$1 [L]

In short, the difference between the original config for apache, and the config for isapi rewrite:
(1st = Apache, 2nd = ISAPI)
RewriteRule ^search-(.*).html$ search.php?do=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^/search-(.*).html$ /search.php?do=$1 [L]
so you need to add 2 slashes in total, one after "RewriteRule ^" and one before the .php file.

Hope this is useful for somebody.

I suggest if you want something that's tested and fully functional, buy vbseo. Oh, but you'll have to PAY for that...
