PhotoPlog: The Lite Gallery

This mod looks great and I am thinking about integrating it into my forum (possibly the Pro version). We currently have a 'photo album' thread that has the pictures of all of our users and I am looking for an easier way to maintain this (all the images are currently in the first post with captions/ect).

I want a gallery that is associated with one thread - I don't want each image to be commented on seperately (more like the way we have it now). Is this possible with the lite or pro version? Anyone try this before?

Photolog confing.php i edit

I have changed the photolog directory from www.domain.com/photolog to ---> www.domain.com/forum/photolog but we can not see the photos. What could be the error?

I've probablly sat for 3 hours reading this thread and trying to figure out what my absolute path is. I checked my vBConfig file which has this information. Using this information to get this going is not working. I have tried various combinations of possible other absolute paths LOL and trying various extentions and nothing. I have varied the information in the Admincp as well to ensure they match and nothing.
My direct path is supposed to /home/xxxxxx/public_html/forums .???

Okay, I installed this yesterday, had a few bugs that I worked out from reading through this thread and all seemed well. I logged out and came back a bit later, went into the forum, then to the gallery. The forum shows me logged in, the gallery doesn't. I tried the "yoursite.com/forums/admincp/index.php?do=buildbitfields", but it stays the same, showing me logged out in the gallery. I checked everything I could think of, no difference. Any ideas?

The script sets automatically this url: "http://www.mysite.com/photoplog/myskin/misc/image.jpg" but the correct url should be "http://www.mysite.com/myskin/eccetraeccetra"

I have a small issue, when I goto photoplog in my forum it look great. Now if you try to use the nav bar while in photplog, it gives you an address like this

this is an example

when the link should reflect
www.yoursite.com/forums

What did I do wrong? All the links work correctly in any other part of the forum, just not in photoplogs navbar..thanks for the help in advance.

I have installed and uploaded all the files
In my UserCp i have Photoplog on the left menu
I have given the admin usergroup permission to view the photoplog
All folders within photoplog are chmod 777 including the images folder
the xml product is installed

I edited the config.php file as follows :

But when i navigate to www.blaa.ie/forum/photoplog i get a blank page. No pages render at all.

Yeah I am getting "No select phrasetypeid!" too BOOHOOO! THis looks like it kicks ass! I tried "vbGallery" and that JACKED UP my whole forum and caused my ISP to shut me down do to too many SQL calls. I hope this can be addressed! :)

PhotoPlog Lite v.2.0.5 has been released. Though the XML is in vB 3.5 format, the product file should now import on vB 3.6, as well as vB 3.5. If you are upgrading to PhotoPlog Lite v.2.0.5 make sure after upgrade to check the PhotoPlog Permissions via the Usergroup Manager as some options have changed. Also the Relative/Absolute settings have been removed, replaced with BASE HREF usage, so that should make for easier settings management. Enjoy!

Note on Official Support: With 65 some pages, assuming 15 posts per page, and over 1000 posts, all in one thread, official support for this mod is now held off-site. Apologies in advance for possibly having to register at yet another forum, but IMHO support would be better served elsewhere at this point.

Hi, I've uploaded ( and clicked install) this newer release. Thankyou!

Problem::: I get a message saying that I do not have permission to view this page. I've uploaded correctly. Chomd image file, ran the rebuild field in browser, applied permissions in the photoplog usergroup permission folder. I am showed as logged in on the forum, and showed logged in when I receive the no permission page.

I have set permissions for guests to view and read comments. But guests receive no permissions too.

Any ideas? I want this to work sooooooooo badly!.

I checked into this and in end noticed it kept missing the www off any links i.e when I gallery any other link on the menus for upload etc would just be http://domainname rather than http://www.domainname which causes is to drop the logged in user.. so when loggin in you click upload, search etc it logs you out.

I got round this by editing my vbulletin config.php file and put in my full server path..

Now all the gallery seems to work fine.. but when I am in the gallery clicking home on my forum, or any of the forum buttons like USERCP etc etc are missing the www. so when I click they log me out again.

I'm pretty sure that is related to how you set your cookie domain in vb.

Im trying to sort out a custom gallery for my web page

and i want to integrate a gallery within it, however i want to display the pictures, well basicaly NOT in a module if you know what i mean

if you visit here www.cgempire.com/index4.php ( tempprary page im working on) and look for where you see thumbnail images across the top and the side.

for instance can i display gallery images in a none vbpage like index4.php ?

anyone know if this is possible with this ?
any help would be utterly fantastic as im at my whits end trying to sort this out.

I just want to say this is a wonderful hack (sorry, "modification" is the correct word these days). If you follow the instructions carefully and do everything correctly, it works perfectly first time, I'm running 3.6.0 Gold with plenty of other modifications.

Sorry if this has already been answered but i just wanted to be sure of a few things before i go and purchase the pro version of this software.If wondering why not use the lite version i prefer the layout of pro over lite from what i have seen.Now onto my question.

First i was wondering if it is possible to mass import a folder of images from the server.Say for example i install photoplog and upload a set of images to /images/cars/ can i import all images in "cars" at once?I know this was a feature in the old VBA gallery that i loved and came in handy for me but i dont really like the new release of photopost or whatever they call it these days.

Second was does photoplog allow unlimtied catagories as well as sub catagories?Sub catagories will be something i definently need for my site to help organise the thousands of photo's that will be in the gallery.

Also is it possible to make the sub catagory page display the same way as the main catagory page?I dont really like the idea of the small navbar with links to subcats.

Ok we got hacked and had to do a complete restore. Everything seem to be fine with photoplog exacept if you upload photos now. You do not get to see the display window photo. At the bottom it shows the location and iMG codes but no photo and if you goto the main category there is no photo showing either. Everything looks right. Any ideas?

1. You can have it add a count of Images seperately to posts, I'm not sure about comments

Just want to make a quick post on this.
No matter what directory I put in the photoplog config file I kept getting an error when pointing to www.mysite.co.uk/forums/photoplog

I added index.php to the end of it in my address bar and it shows up fine.
Eg: www.mysite.co.uk/forums/photoplog/index.php

Can anyone explain why I was getting an error saying no directory exists yet it clearly does and seems to work fine?

1. You can set the permissions for certain usergroups to have that access to the upload option.

2. Look on the very first page, should be the 1-3 posts, it has the option to add the link the users postbit_legacy as you see in your photo.

1. Then you would set the permissions for goldmembers only via creating a usergroup. If i understand you correctly.

2. You put the code depending on where you want it at in the postbit_legacy

Update: The gallery works perfect in IE but apparently it keeps logging me out in Firefox. I did some research into the cookies and do not think it is a cookie problem. Any ideas?

Kickbutt program, so I upgraded...here it is in action on a new site that has not be publicized nor is it completed. I decided to tackle it as soon I'll be upgrading to VB 3.6.1 to my other mega site. I'm no programmer, I'm a photog, but I was able to install VB 3.6.1 without a glitch, along with Photo Plog, though I had a few glitches, the folks there helped me tremendously.

Things to see, constant new thumbnails at the top of each page. Lightbox effect, not just in the gallery itself, but the member's home page...here's the links...

I've had this installed and working great for some time now... I don't know if this happened when i last updated to 2.0.5 (lite).. but in my USERCP_SHELL template i have this....

Now essentially they're the same thing just named differently, the problem is the urls don't actually place the user ID at the end of the url.. It worked great and a member noticed this just the other day.

I use the postbig_legacy links and view gallery urls and they all work perfectly.. i've copied out of Post 2 (add ons) and tried those but no matter what when i put the urls in USERCP_SHELL they will not parse out the user ID like it used to... any ideas?

Just have a quick look at the file types you are uploading. I recently had the same problem and it turned out the problem was that my files ended in .jpeg, I removed the e to make it .jpg and problem solved, everything uploaded fine.

This is a great add-on ,but unfortunatly i have a problem.

My site is using safe mode, i can change the folder Image so it can write to that folder however the script is creating subfolders for each user.
Is there anyway to change the code so it stores the files in the map Images and not in subfolders of images?

Safe mode being off has always been a requirement. It's just listed again with the other requirements. IMHO if anyone wants a gallery, storing files in a database or restricted directory isn't the way to go, as it's too much overhead or lacks flexibility. Personally speaking, I don't think PHP not in safe mode was the problem with your server being hacked. It's more likely that it was due to a bad script or old version of something or other. PhotoPlog needs safe mode off to process files. If you take a run through the code, it is unlikely, though not impossible as I'm not perfect, that you will find a tainted variable. If you have mod_rewrite abilities, this has always been a gem to stick in an htaccess file:

Update: The gallery works perfect in IE but apparently it keeps logging me out in Firefox. I did some research into the cookies and do not think it is a cookie problem. Any ideas?

Is there a way to change the title? not the name of the program (im aware that that can be changed in the phrases) but i want it to be different.

i want a base title wich i can set myself, and then the imagename behind the last word when viewing an image, or the catagory name etc

You can add Gallery in your navbar to get you to photoplog, but will say photoplog.php in address bar. I think you would have to edit the product-photoplog.xml, and rename the photoplog.php to what you want it to be, I am not a coder so try this at your own risk

Not too worried about the file name just the title is very annoying LOL. I'll check it out and see if that works. They did mention that there was a phrase that could be changed but for the life of me I cannot find the phrase to change it :(

There are a couple of things you can try. Not sure if they are your solution, but its worth a shot. One make sure you have uploaded all the files to the correct directory and kept the directory structure in tact. Two make sure that you have edited any config files correctly. Its a start.

Just wondered if it might be possible to do either of the following: 1st, I'd like to be able to create at least one category that can be reserved for a specific user group. That is to say, the pictures would display to all with viewing permission, but only one group could upload to that category. I only need 1 category to do this, the others would be available to all members.

2nd: Is it possible to specify which categories appear on the Forumhome if the option $photoplog_forumhome is used?

Those options would turn an excellent hack into absolute perfection (for me at least) ;)

This is a great hack. Does anyone know how to increase the default font size while putting comments. When members put their comments, without changing the font size, it looks quite small and I want to increase it. Right now, they have to manually change the size after typing and most forget to do it.

You only need to modify your lite gallery config not the forum config(unless you have not installed the forum, if its installed and working then dont touch the config file for the forum)

anyway to get the server path use an ftp program like smart ftp and right click on the directory and hit copy path.

I compared PhotoPlog with the "others", and decided to give it a whirl a couple of days ago.

I downloaded and installed the "Lite" version and was so impressed within just a few days, I purchased the "Pro" version. Great product!

I did NOT seamlessly upgrade for me. Only SOME of the new tables were added to the DB (e.g., photoplog_permissions wouldn't add). I only had a few images (testing), so I just whacked everything and installed Pro from scratch, rebuilt the bitfields, and it's been great ever since.

Cudos for a great product with great features at a great price.

Hi all. I need some help. Today I visited my site and it seems the pictures aren't coming up anymore. They are all showing up as an empty box now. When I click on one of the boxes it calls up a Fatal error.

Does anyone know how to still upload pictures when safe mode is enabled? I have done the following

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options -> Safe Mode Upload Enabled Yes

And created a safe mode directory.

Any help would be really appreciated!.

A few suggestions.

You might actually tell people exactly *where* to insert all of these links into the templates instead of simply saying to stick it in the navbar template.

You might also arrange it so that when I go to the photoplog index I see something other than a blank page. :)

And, yes, all install instructions were followed to the letter. I am not new to installing mods. hmm does this mod have something against php 5.0.4? The path to the forums directory is correct yet I get a blank white page when I go to the photoplog directory. I did not see anywhere in the config file to supply it with my database info so I assume it pulls this from the forum config file.

I installed this and like it. Seems to be a great script.

One improvement (at least it is an improvement in my opinion) is that I changed the ALT and TITLE text tags to represent the images. The ALT text is used by google and other search engines to determine what is in the picture. Additionally, a better description is better for disabled people who might use a text reader to read out loud your web page because now the text will match the picture. By default, the ALT text only says "Click to view original" which says nothing about the picture.

ACP > PhotoPlog > Edit Pages > edit photoplog_view_file

Search for the ALT= text that is followed by
$vbphrase[photoplog_click_to_view_original]

Remove that and replace it with:
$photoplog_category_title: $photoplog_title
That will give you both the category title and the picture title in the ALT text for the image.

Do the same thing with the title tag that follows.

The whole image tag ends up looking like this:

<img src="$photoplog_location/file.php?$session[sessionurl]n=$photoplog_fileid&amp;w=l" alt="$photoplog_category_title: $photoplog_title" title="$photoplog_category_title: $photoplog_title" border="0" />

inoticed that login issue while i was running firefox.... everytime i try to view the pics... it takes me to the login....

firefox sucks...

Ive seen this problem a lot here but no one has posted a solution. I have the same problem in my board . when i get to the photoplog/index.php i see my myself login but when i click on upload or search it sighns me off. what could this be? Can someone please post a solution.

make sure you have the photoplog link settings correct....

this is in the ACP under the photoplog settings..

also make sure you do the bitfield update... i was having the same problem....

Good mod. Installed easily. My problem is that the "POSTED BY" and Dates on the main screen are such a deep and dark blue they are unreadable. How can I change the colors they are displaying in and where can I find the code to alter?

When I try saving the image with Firefox, instead of saving it as the image file, it's saving it as a php file.

IE is automatically saving it as an image. Anyone else have this problem?

Do a phrase search for this instance: "photoplog_photoplog"

Under global, change it to whatever you like.

i have installed PhotoPlog but i have a problem with all my links.

example : in my navbar at Gallery PhotoBlog. Which Buttons Main. The true link is www.test.com/forum but when im clicking on this i have redirected to www.test.com/photoplog/forum. This is the same problem with all of my images of forum.

www.test.com/forum/banner.gif has changed to www.test.com/photoplog/forum/banner.gif

anybody can tell me how to fix it ?

This is a great hack, but the .PNG's dont diplay properly unless opened in a new page.

I just had the same thing happening to me. I went to the website's forums and found out how to correct it.

This error is basically telling you that you have a path problem. The reason I was getting it is because my path wasn't set correctly in the photoplog/config.php file.

Open that file and type your path in the same way it is in your forums/includes/config.php file.

i am running vb 3.6.5. i had photoplog previously installed on an old board with vb 3.6.4. since then,i did a fresh install with 3.6.5. my problem occurs after i installed it.

Just to enquire.

There is no update of the lastest photo posting when the user is not log on. I hv already set the usergroup of non-registered group to be able to view post yet to no avail.

When the user is log on, the page refreshed and allow user to view the lastest posting. Pls kindly advise.
