Default Do most Hosts track MySQL Calls?

I'm hosted with VenturesOnline and appearantly the server I am paying for only supports 800,000 MySQL "calls". I was talking with them and my forum is currently push 2,000,000 MySQL calls. They said that if I would like to continue to be hosted with them that I would need to upgrade my server hosting. But the lowest server that meets that requirement is 109 bucks a month. Needless to say, I am having a difficult time just paying the 25 bucks a month.

I was thinking of signing up with www.RackNine.com and use their enterprise plan. It offers 2500 MB Webspace 50 GB/Mo. Bandwidth and only costs 30 bucks a month.

Suggestions comments? I think I just slipped with a rock and a hard place.

Time to upgrade. I agree with VO wholeheartedly. However again you should keep in mind whether you want a VPS with VO or somewhere cheaper - you get better service and uptime with VO, as to the "you get what you pay for" rule.

You really need to move a vps at best, seriously. Or at very least you need to remove the enourmous amount of bloat you have on the forums now.

bloat? My forums have nothing to remove. It's all news baby. Posting over 100 news posts every weekday and having people looking at each thread from http://www.3dNewz.com is most likely what has done it.

Thanks for the advice.

You might want to try steps to reduce the query calls. But that's irrelevant because if you want to continue with the expansion of your board then you are going to have to consider upgrading anyway.

Yep. That's the conclusion I came to as well. I'm also thinking about adding PhotoPost, which shouldn't help the problem much either.

True. Well the best thing to do is either stop wasting your money now or if you feel that you want to carry on start making provisions on things by reducing pointless hacks and perhaps disabling pm's, calendar, attachments, avatars etc...

Out of 2,000,000 calls, will disabling those things really make that big of a dent? I'm not sure, but I think most of it is the news I provide. Pages that include 50 plus news topics on a page and each topic access a forum thread. I think that's what's causing it. I know there are probably faster loading news scripts out there, I have hacked my Pluh news stuff so much that I have gotten it just the way I want it. I'm currently trying to get affilated with a network to get some funding.

Here's hoping.

I would have said disabling all those things i mentioned would have reduced the query amounts DRAMATICALLY!

no offense, most of those 'news posts' are copyright news from other sites, and all you're doing is republishing their copyrighted news.

i take pride in my news, i write it all myself

anyways ..

seems like you could use a dedicated server, site seems rather slow, and i personally don't blame VO .. more than likely your site is affecting others on the same server..

no punt intended.

Actually Sebastian brought up an excellent point. I'm surprised VO hasn't kicked you for copyright infridgement off their servers.

AS faras if there's nothing to remove... just some random stuff from briefly looking over your forums:
-"hot" threads
-"total authorities"
-birthdays
-quick stats
-simular threads

and that's just without looking deep in the code or even seeing the query count for each page.
