I was using Beyond Compare to upgrade from 221 to 224 when I got this idea for upgrading my templates.
all this does is combines the edit template form with the view original template form. then you can see the original template in the above form with the form to edit your edited template below it. see what has changed, make the changes in your template and submit the update.
changes the "view original" link to a "compare to original" link
preview and copy buttons work for both original and modified template text areas.
this is my first time using vbhacker so I hope the file works for you guys. I've attached the vbhacker file below. if you don't have vbhacker, just get it. it's very nice.
FIREFLY: 2 things about vbhacker. how about a field to leave comments to the person installing the hack. and how about having vbhacker build the hack.php file instead of just sticking it into a textarea. that way you'd know that the hack.php file is set up right. very nice tool. thanks

well, that find box doesn't really search the textarea. it searches the entire page including the contents of the textarea. doing a search in the bottom box will bring up results from the top box. I tried fiddling with 2 search boxes but felt that no matter how I set it up, people would get confused.
if I could figure out how to get it to just search the textarea I would. not perfect, but good enough. everything else works great!
glad ya like it and glad the vbhacker thing worked. I haven't installed anything with vbhacker yet.
umm, for some reason I ran the hacker, and it said everything worked...but nuthin happened...
[edit] Oh wait it worked...but where the second box is supposed to be i get a database error....

Ok, this isn't working for me... Mutt, does this work for 2.2.6? If not, can you please place an upgrade so I don't have to uninstall this? Just make an upgrade to work with 2.2.6... like, use the exact code you used to find and just give a new replacement or whatever. I would like to see what exactly this can do and I followed the steps perfectly but get nothing.
Well, there is another problem... this hack doesn't work with Mutt's Advanced Template Editor, there for it is very hard to compare. It shows the original template at the top and then shows 2 version of the edited template on the bottom, making it very hard to compare... any ways you can either merge or do whatever with those hacks?
